Tottenham vs West Ham: Result heaps pressure on Thomas Frank

Thomas Frank was already under considerable pressure before Tottenham slumped to a sixth home league defeat of the season courtesy of Callum Wilson’s bundled winner from a corner in the 93rd minute for the Hammers.

Crysencio Summerville put the visitors ahead after 15 minutes when his shot deflected in off Spurs defender Micky van de Ven, and there was more bad news for Frank when stalwart Ben Davies departed on a stretcher after challenging Jarrod Bowen in the build-up to the opener.

Cristian Romero headed Spurs level in the 64th minute, but the boos that had rung out from the home fans at half-time intensified after Wilson’s added-time goal in a 2-1 win for West Ham, who are five points from safety following Forest’s draw.

“I’ve probably had better times,” Frank conceded after his side lost for an eighth time in 14 matches. “The blame will go to me. That’s fair, no problem in that sense.

“As long as they are backing the players and doing everything they can to support them and drive them forward, that’s what we do. We will keep going forward.

“It’s unbelievably tough to take for the fans, for the players, for me, for everyone involved. I can promise everyone it’s extremely tough for me as well.

“But there’s only one way: keep going. You can’t feel sorry for yourself. Probably tonight you’re a little bit down, but then you should go again.”

Sunderland vs Crystal Palace: Oliver Glasner in explosive interview

After defeat at high-flying Sunderland left Palace without a win in 10 games in all competitions, visiting manager Oliver Glasner compounded Eagles’ fans misery by claiming his squad “are being abandoned completely”.

A day after Glasner announced he will be leaving at the end of this season, the manager who led the club to the FA Cup in 2024/25 saw Yeremy Pino put his team in front with a deft 30th-minute chip.

Enzo Le Fee struck three minutes later to restore parity and Brian Brobbey followed suit 19 minutes from time to give the Black Cats a 2-1 win and put them three points off fourth place, five points above Palace.

“The worst thing is selling our captain one day before playing a Premier League game,” Glasner told BBC Sport, referencing the announcement of Marc Guehi’s move to Manchester City on Friday.

“I have no understanding of this. I have always kept my mouth [shut], but I can’t because I have to defend these players… we get under pressure here and we are unlucky.”

Glasner described the sale of Guehi and Eberechi Eze’s move to Arsenal in August as having “your heart torn out twice this season”.

“I look at the bench and I can’t react,” he added. “Just kids on the bench. This has not happened yesterday, this is weeks ago. That’s why I’m really frustrated.”

Leeds vs Fulham: Nmecha goal seals win

Lukas Nmecha volleyed the 91st-minute winner 10 minutes after coming on as Leeds continued their impressive rise away from the relegation zone with a 1-0 victory over Fulham, who remain 10th.

Former Manchester City and Germany forward Nmecha, who arrived on a free transfer from Wolfsburg in June, met Ethan Ampadu’s cross in emphatic fashion for the 27-year-old’s first goal in seven appearances.

Leeds, who have collected points in eight of their last nine league matches and are eight points clear of danger, had been ahead three times before conceding in the 91st and 102nd minutes of their 4-3 defeat at Newcastle in their previous league match on January 7.

They also lost to Gabriel Gudmundsson’s 94th-minute winner at Fulham on September 13, leading manager Daniel Farke to call their latest victory “the best win of the season”.

“It was our first clean sheet and home since August,” Farke told Leeds’ official channels. “It was fully deserved.

“We didn’t give any chances away. We missed a few chances. We stayed relentless and stayed on it, being positive in our approach.

“It’s outstanding. The lads deserve all the plaudits. Even a clean sheet and a point wouldn’t have been a bad result against Fulham.

“Lukas has proven why I label him as one of the best German strikers that we have [in Germany]. He’s an unbelievable finisher and he has the instinct to be there at the right moment.”
