Triple H Addresses Backstage Issues Before WWE Survivor Series Main Event
WWE Chief Content Officer and former wrestler, Triple H, has confirmed the Survivor Series: WarGames main event caused major debate over the entrance order of the wrestlers with significant star-power on show.
The event in San Diego fuelled backstage tension with some of the biggest names in the industry taking part and hoping to have their names up in the stars for the event.
Now on the other side of the negotiating table, Triple H, or Paul Levesque, highlighted in his post-event press conference that politics were involved in deciding how the show would go on.
What Triple H Said About Backstage Issues
He said: “One of the most star-studded WarGames I can recall. The level of star power that was in there was second to none.
“Everybody delivered. When you have Brock Lesnar, who does not team well with others. When you have Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, CM Punk, Logan Paul. All these people that are in there putting things out at another level, and you see that competitive nature.
“The lobbying, the politics, the backstage tension tonight, you can cut it with a knife. It was epic. You saw that in people’s performances.”
Survivor Series: WarGames Main Event
The event saw Roman Reigns, CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, and The Usos (Jimmy and Jey) face off against The Vision (Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed), Brock Lesnar, Drew McIntyre, and Logan Paul, with the latter set of wrestlers victorious.
Titans of the sport such as Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar will undoubtedly want their place as the feature of the event, while YouTube sensation Logan Paul garners his own mass-following as he becomes a regular on the WWE calendar.
Bron Breakker landed the winning blow with a Spear on CM Punk. However, the crowd made their displeasure heard as Triple H and co. threw another surprise in the mix.
A hooded wrestler hit the Curb Stomp on Punk before Breakker finished off the match. However, the mystery wrestler did not reveal himself, much to the disappointment of the audience as boos rang out. As we know now, though, the mystery masked man was Austin Theory, who was meant to be involved in the match in the first place if it wasn’t for an injury to Jacob Fatu.
According to WrestleVotes, there were a number of scenarios mapped out with differing options as the creative contention rumbled on.
As it panned out, Reigns entered the ring last and reports followed that the event had the potential to tee-up WrestleMania 42 with so many major names entering the ring and sparking new feuds and rivalries.
