Tyson Fury sends heartfelt message after tragic Anthony Joshua car crash
Tyson Fury has shared his condolences following the deaths of two close friends of Anthony Joshua in a road accident in Nigeria.
Local reports emerged yesterday morning that Joshua had survived the collision with minor injuries but two other passengers in his vehicle lost their lives. They were later named as Sina Ghami and Kevin ‘Latif’ Ayodele, close friends of the two-time heavyweight champion and key parts of his team.
The boxing world is mourning their passing, with public messages from the likes of Chris Eubank Jr and Badou Jack. Fury has now shared his own words of sympathy.
Posting on Instagram, he wrote:
“This is so sad. May God give them a good bed in heaven.”
Fury and Joshua had been slated to fight in September 2026 after interim bouts for each, but in the wake of this tragedy, any discussion of the long-anticipated match-up is secondary as Joshua recovers and mourns the loss of his friends.
Former unified heavyweight champion and opponent of both men, Wladimir Klitschko, also spoke on the devastating circumstances, saying:
“Having had the pleasure of engaging in an unforgettable battle with AJ, I’ve always regarded him as a true class act who commands my utmost respect. My heart goes out to him, and I wish him and his loved ones all the best during this difficult time.”
Boxing News extends its condolences to the families and loved ones of Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, and wishes Anthony Joshua a full recovery during this difficult time.
