United magazine issue one launched alongside Stone Roses range with music theme
David Beckham and Andy Cole are a couple of Reds legends who feature – Becks discussing his United career in the course of choosing eight favourite songs for Desert Island Discs, and Cole remembering his own 1999 record Outstanding.
There is an awful lot more to surprise and delight within the upweighted 132-page issue. There’s the inside tale of our 1994 number one hit Come On You Reds, as recalled by some of the players who went into the studio with Status Quo to record it. Talking of chart-toppers, there’s also an evocative run-through of all the UK number ones at the times United won silverware (guaranteed to spark sweet memories).
And you can also browse the club’s own record collection via a photofeature showcasing the songs we have released down the years – all on beautiful vinyl.
To finish the issue on a high, there is even a brand new and exclusive interview with legendary musician Peter Hook – former bass player for Joy Division and New Order, and of course a huge Red.
