English sources have reported Milan’s interest in Jean-Philippe Mateta, but the Rossoneri will need a big investment in the January transfer window, as Crystal Palace already rejected Atalanta’s €40m bid last summer.
English website TEAMtalk reported Milan’s genuine interest in Mateta a few days ago, and it is no secret that the 28-year-old would be a big signing for the Rossoneri in the January transfer window.
It’s a situation that must be monitored as Massimiliano Allegri needs a classic centre-forward, and Mateta was already targeted by another Serie A club last summer.
Atalanta, in fact, had offered €40m to sign the France international, but Crystal Palace asked for €50m plus add-ons, practically a way to reaffirm that the striker was not up for sale.
Now, the scenario may slightly change, especially if Mateta won’t extend his contract beyond 2027.
It remains to be seen whether Crystal Palace will agree to sell the striker in January, and their asking price, taking into consideration that Mateta’s will is going to be crucial and that Milan would still need a big investment to sign the Frenchman.
