What Mohamed Salah Told Liverpool Teammates After Explosive Interview

Mohamed Salah has made waves around the world with his recent comments, but has since apologised to his Liverpool teammates for the drama caused.

After being left out of the starting line-up in three consecutive games — and only making it onto the field once — Salah made headlines with an explosive interview in the mixed zone at Leeds United’s Elland Road after a 3-3 draw, claiming that he had been ‘thrown under the bus’ by the club and that he had ‘no relationship’ with Arne Slot.

Since then, the Egyptian star has been the subject of much debate with his future at Anfield called into question after the high-profile fall-out with Dutch boss Slot.

Salah’s comments clearly had an impact on those behind the scenes at Liverpool, but according to Curtis Jones, the Egyptian star quickly apologised for the drama that unfolded.

He told Sky Sports: “Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff. He apologised to us and was like, ‘If I’ve affected anybody or made you feel any sort of way, I apologise’. That’s the man that he is.

“I can only speak from me knowing Mo and how he is with us and how he acted on that. He was positive as well. He was the exact same Mo, he had a big smile on his face and everybody was exactly the same with him. I guess it’s just part of wanting to be a winner and I don’t think he will be the last.

“I get that there are certain ways you can go about things, but if a lad’s fine to just be on the bench and he doesn’t want to play and help the team, then I think that’s more of an issue.

“When there’s been any sort of anger from us, including myself, it’s always been from a good place. In the moment, it might not have come out in the right way, but it’s never been to affect the team, the staff, the manager, anybody like that. We’re past that now and we’re gelling well as a team, playing well and starting to win games.”

While the dust has settled in Salah’s explosive interview, it doesn’t mean that he’ll necessarily be welcomed back into the gold at Anfield. The Egyptian star featured in last weekend’s clash with Brighton in a move which drew a line under the saga, but it feels like it may still have damaged his long-term prospects at the club.

With Antoine Semenyo a top target for the Reds, it feels like Salah’s days at the club may be coming to an end.

A Liverpool legend, Salah is clearly well respected among supporters and players alike, but after his interview it might be hard for him to find his way back with a move away potentially being the best solution for all parties.
