“You understand the privilege you have of playing for the club, but when you retire and you step away from it, you think that club has moulded me as a 15-year-old boy, being in Manchester.

“Everything I know, how I am as a person, has been moulded by Manchester United and the honour and the privilege of playing for the club for all those years and everything the club gave to me – in challenging times sometimes, in my career – I just look back and think Manchester United has been amazing to me.

“It’s important I give back whenever I can and go above and beyond to help the club.”
