Zab Judah delivers alternative verdict on Usyk vs Deontay Wilder: “Trust me”

As reports of Oleksandr Usyk’s fight against Deontay Wilder begin to pick up speed, two-division world champion Zab Judah has offered his thoughts on the clash.

Usyk has dominated the heavyweight division since his move up from cruiserweight, becoming a two-time undisputed world champion by twice overcoming each of Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury and Daniel Dubois.

Now, the Ukrainian mastermind seeks to further add to his legacy by taking on another standout name of the era in Deontay Wilder, despite the ill-form of ‘The Bronze Bomber’, who has lost four of his last six contests.

Currently, it is believed that Usyk will fight his first non-British opponent since 2019 and face off with the former long-reigning WBC champion in either April or May in the United States.

Speaking with MillCity Boxing, former undisputed welterweight king Zab Judah explained why he believes the contest could prove to be more competitive than many are predicting.

“Wilder better go get that [fight]. For real, Deontay has got to train, he has got to train for that and don’t skip leg day. Gotta hit leg day and all of that, everything.”

“If Deontay Wilder can go in there and get it right, he can make that fight a more competitive and interesting fight than a lot of people are expecting, trust me. Wilder has still got something in there. He still can crack.

“As long as he got that f***ing right hand [he has a chance], that [power] is the last thing to go.”
