The 3 you need to watch this week
If you’re hunting for something to watch on Prime Video, it’s natural that you will turn to the top 10 list. If other people are streaming something, it must be good, right? Not necessarily.
That’s why I’ve filtered through Prime Video’s top 10 shows of the week to pull out the ones that are actually worth watching.

The Family Man
The Family Man is an action-drama series starring Manoj Bajpayee as Srikant Tiwari, a man who works a high-pressure and low-paying job for the National Investigation Agency—though his wife and two children know nothing about it. Srikant must juggle the investigation of a terrorism case while also dealing with the family chaos happening back home. He makes for a great, layered protagonist; while he’s skilled and charming, he’s not without his flaws.
The Family Man is tense and tightly paced, with a well-written story and great performances from the entire cast. The satirical humor is also a welcome addition; it never feels misplaced and is nicely balanced against the action. The show has rightfully received many awards and has become one of Prime Video’s biggest foreign-language hits (it’s an Indian Hindi-language production).
The third season recently landed on the platform, hence the renewed interest in the series, so you have many hours of high-quality entertainment waiting for you to binge.

The Mighty Nein
One of the best new shows on Prime Video this month is The Mighty Nein. It comes from the team behind the web series Critical Role, who adapted one of their Dungeons & Dragons campaigns for this adult animation. It’s a follow-up to the successful The Legend of Vox Machina from 2022, though you need not have watched that to dive right in—The Mighty Nein is located in the same world but set 20 years later with an entirely new cast of characters.
At the center are a band of misfits who join together to retrieve an ancient relic called The Beacon before it falls into the wrong hands. The crew includes cheeky Jester Lavorre (Laura Bailey), mercenary Yasha Nydoorin (Ashley Johnson), and wizard Essek Thelyss (Matthew Mercer). If you’re familiar with Critical Role, you’ll notice the cast has reprised their roles for the show. That makes sense, considering they are all talented voice actors.
The Mighty Nein has a colorful, appealing visual style, which looks great during the high-octane action scenes and quieter character moments. It’s a joy to get to know the characters and the complex, funny, and dark world they inhabit. The show is currently airing weekly, with the eighth and final episode of the season due December 22, so get tuning in.

Fallout
Video game adaptations are notoriously bad, but Prime Video’s Fallout is an entirely different beast. Based on Bethesda’s role-playing games, the show is an absolute triumph, and one that equally appeals to those who have never picked up a controller and those who are glued to one. It’s set on an Earth devastated by nuclear bombs, with lucky groups of survivors living in underground bunkers—protected from the weird mutants, robots, and battle-hungry humans lurking above ground.
Lucy (Ella Purnell) is a vault dweller who is forced to come to the surface. Despite the outside horrors, she’s bright-eyed and optimistic, and Purnell is fantastic in the role. The other protagonists are Walter Goggins’ cowboy-style mutant The Ghoul and Aaron Moten’s military man Maximus; both are on their own quests, but their paths cross with Lucy’s in interesting ways.
Fallout is not only visually spectacular, with wonderful set designs, costumes, and special effects, but it’s also very funny. The show has a twisted sense of humor that makes a change from the typically dark post-apocalyptic stories that grace our screens. Now is the perfect time to watch the show because you can binge the entire first season in time for the second on December 17.
