If you’re familiar with Google’s latest developments, you’ve probably heard of NotebookLM. The latter is a note-taking app, but unlike Keep, it’s heavily integrated with Gemini AI models to offer powerful advanced features and targeted at researchers. Now, Google has announced a customization option for Audio Overview, one of NotebookLM’s best features.

Since its inception, NotebookLM has carried the label of “experimental” service. However, after a long time of development and refinement, Google is finally removing that label. Starting today, NotebookLM enters its fully stable stage. Additionally, Google is celebrating this milestone by enhancing one of the service’s most popular features: Audio Overview.

Now you can customize the user experience of NotebookLM’s Audio Overview

If you’re unaware, Audio Overview stands out as one of NotebookLM’s most impressive features. Essentially, it enables two “AI-powered personas” to function as “hosts” of a discussion and provide you with summaries of your notes and documents. However, they do so in a dynamic “debate” format. This way, both “hosts” will discuss and exchange ideas related to the content, generating connections and potential new ideas. You can then download the “debate” to listen to it in full whenever you want.

Audio Overview is an ideal way to get inspiration for potential new ideas or viewpoints on the content you are writing about. Gemini models have the capability to enable such impressive options. That said, Google is making NotebookLM’s Audio Overview feature even better thanks to a new customization option.

Previously, you could enable Audio Overviews for your documents and wait for the final result. The “AI hosts” acted autonomously, and you could just listen to the discussions they threw at each other. However, now Google will allow you to participate in the process, not as another party but by directing where the “debate” goes. That is, you can choose to focus on a specific topic or tweak how technical you want the language used to be, among other parameters.

You can also listen to Audio Overviews in the background

Google is also adding a function to listen to your Audio Overviews in the background. This way, you can continue working on whatever you want while listening to the summaries. Finally, the Mountain View giant has announced a version of NotebookLM specifically for business use. Google did not offer more specific details about the additional features or prices of this version yet, but will do so later this year.

The Federal Communications Commission has passed rules that will require all wireless calls to the 988 Lifeline to be georouted. Geographic routing ensures that attempts to reach the National Suicide Prevention Hotline for intervention services will be sent to the location where the call is placed rather than to the location of the caller’s area code and exchange.

Once the rules take effect, national providers will have 30 days to implement georouting for these calls. Smaller, non-national providers have a timeline of 24 months to comply. The agency also issued a proposal that the same georouting policy be applied to texts sent to 988.

The FCC has taken several steps to expand the reach of the 988 Lifeline over the past few years. After to make the three-digit number the shortcut for reaching the National Suicide Prevention Hotline in 2020, the agency expanded the service to include in 2021. T-Mobile was one of the telecoms to activate 988 for customers to access mental health services.

OPPO has announced its Android 15-based ColorOS 15 skin during an event in China. The company is making some notable UI changes this time around. Something you’ll see a lot of here is… iOS, kind of. This version of ColorOS seems to be heavily inspired by iOS.

OPPO announced ColorOS 15 with new animations, and plenty of iOS inspiration

OPPO did say that it paid extra attention to animations. The ‘Aurora and Tidal Engine’ are here to boost animations, and how they perform. It allows animations to run in parallel, which should ensure a smoother experience when switching between apps.

‘’Motino Effects’, on the other hand, improve the animations in applications. That goes for both OPPO apps and third-party apps as well. OPPO also managed to improve the speed of app installations by 26%, while app responsiveness has been boosted by around 18%.

ColorOS 15 now also comes with a separate notification shade and Quick Settings. Samsung did it with One UI 7, and iOS has been doing it for a while. We’re not sure if you can change that in settings, but chances are you can.

AI will be utilize for image processing and editing, content summarization, and more

AI will be more utilized in ColorOS 15 too. You’ll use it for image processing and editing. For actions such as blur removal, image upscaling, reflection removal, and more. AI will also be able to summarize content for you, and so on.

OPPO created a Dynamic Island clone here, and a lock screen that is heavily customizable, and yet it does resemble what iOS did. You’ll be able to store multiople lock screen configurations, and separate pieces of the wallpaper (place your image over the clock, for example). OPPO’s AI assitant has a similar interface to Siri, which is another similarity here.

The rollout will start next month

ColorOS 15 will start rolling out to OPPO’s smartphones next month, in November. The rollout will start in China, but global models will also be getting this update between November and March. The OPPO Find X8 series will come pre-installed with ColorOS 15. They’re coming on October 24.

As a reminder, OxygenOS 15 will become official on October 24. As many of you know, OxygenOS and ColorOS are very similar these, so chances are we’ll get a similar UI.

A 25-year-old Alabama man has been arrested by the FBI for his alleged role in the takeover of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s X account earlier this year. The hack resulted in a that falsely claimed bitcoin ETFs had been approved by the regulator, which temporarily juiced bitcoin prices.

Now, the FBI has identified Eric Council Jr. as one of the people allegedly behind the exploit. Council was charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated identity theft and access device fraud, the Justice Department. While the SEC had previously confirmed that its X account was compromised via a attack, the indictment offers new details about how it was allegedly carried out.

According to , Council worked with co-conspirators who he coordinated with over SMS and encrypted messaging apps. These unnamed individuals allegedly sent him the personal information of someone, identified only as “C.L,” who had access to the SEC X account. Council then printed a fake ID using the information and used it to buy a new SIM in their name, as well as a new iPhone, according to the DoJ. He then coordinated with the other individuals so they could access the SEC’s X account, change its settings and send the rogue tweet, the indictment says.

The tweet from @SECGov, which came one day ahead of the SEC’s of 11 spot bitcoin ETFS, caused bitcoin prices to temporarily spike by more than $1,000.
