Apple could be sourcing a new type of OLED display for its iPhone 17, and presumably the rumored iPhone 17 Air. Coincidentally, a Taiwanese company called Novatek has confirmed it will begin mass-producing a new OLED display next year.
Is Apple going to source OLED displays from Novatek?
Apple unveiled the iPhone 16 series recently. The company started shipping the latest iPhones to the early buyers late last month. However, this hasn’t stopped the rumors about the iPhone 17 series from surfacing.
A recent rumor claimed that the iPhone 17 and the slimmer model, presumably called iPhone 17 Slim or iPhone 17 Pro, will have 120Hz displays. Now, a Taiwanese company called Novatek has announced it will ramp up production of a new OLED display next year, which would be ideal for the upcoming iPhone 17 models.
According to DigiTimes, Novatek has announced plans to commence mass production of its highly anticipated OLED TDDI technology as early as the second quarter of 2025. Novatek is one of Taiwan’s leading display driver IC (DDI) manufacturers.

It is important to note that neither Apple nor Novatek have confirmed the latter’s display will be on next year’s iPhone model. However, the timing of Novatek’s scheduled production roadmap and the expected launch of the iPhone 17 Air in the fall of 2025 might not be a mere coincidence.
iPhone 17 Air will have a new, thinner OLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate
Previous reports have suggested the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air will finally get a 120Hz refresh rate ProMotion technology. This would be a big leap in display tech compared to the current generation iPhone 16.
The latest iPhone 16 and 16 Plus feature displays that support only a 60Hz refresh rate. To support the higher refresh rate and still maintain a slim profile, the iPhone 17 Air devices would need new display tech.
Novatek has confirmed it will mass-produce displays with its highly anticipated OLED TDDI technology. A big advantage of embedding an OLED TDDI display is that it allows thinner screens. Needless to say, this could be the ideal screen technology for the rumored iPhone 17 Air.
It’s a safe bet that Bluetooth speakers will be on sale for October Prime Day, but you can already save on one of our favorites before the event arrives in a few days. More than looks, though, the Emberton II has upgraded specs from the first-generation model that make it an even better value (especially at this sale price). It has a pair of 10-watt full-range drivers and passive radiators that deliver imposing sound for its size. It isn’t the most room-thumping speaker, with its tuning focusing more on a balanced sound signature than eardrum-blasting power. (But it’s still plenty loud for most uses.)
Like its predecessor, it supports 360-degree sound for a multidirectional experience. If you buy a pair, you can stack them together wirelessly using Marshall’s companion app for more immersive listening. Even if you already own one, its $100 sale price could be an excellent opportunity to get a second and try linking them.

The speaker lasts over 30 hours per charge and can recharge to full in three hours. It has an IP67 dust / water rating, meaning it’s rated for up to 30 minutes of immersion in a few feet of water. The Emberton II only weighs 118 g (4.2 oz).

The iPhone SE 4 could well be the next iPhone we see from Apple – it’s rumored to be breaking cover at the start of next year – and a well-placed industry source suggests it could borrow a specific component from the iPhone 14 that launched in 2022.
According to the usually reliable Ross Young, the iPhone SE 4 will use the same display as the iPhone 14: a 6.1-inch, 1170 x 2532 pixel, Super Retina XDR OLED screen. The current 3rd-gen iPhone SE (2022) sports a 4.7-inch LCD screen, so this would be a big upgrade.
If this comes to pass it would mean the iPhone SE 4 will be joining the modern era: it’s set to be the first iPhone SE to ditch the home button and use Face ID instead of Touch ID. However, it will most likely use a display notch rather than the Dynamic Island.
What we almost certainly won’t get with this phone is an always-on display option and support for the ProMotion variable refresh rate, which remains exclusive to the Pro and Pro Max models (though that might change with the iPhone 17).

This isn’t actually a completely new rumor: for a while now, the talk has been that the iPhone SE 4 would resemble an iPhone 14, and it certainly saves Apple money if it can reuse components that have appeared on previous models.
At the moment you can actually still buy the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Plus direct from Apple – yours for $599 / £599 / AU$1,049 and $699 / £699 / AU$1,249. You can expect the iPhone SE 4 to come in significantly less than that.
Earlier this week we heard rumors that the iPhone SE 4 is going to arrive with an A18 chip (matching the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus), better cameras (that are along the same lines as the iPhone 15), and a new 5G modem designed by Apple.

Apple’s iPhone 16 lineup is here, and it packs a big punch. But if you aren’t planning on upgrading, the iPhone 15 Plus is still a formidable phone for just about any user. Smartprix, in collaboration with X user Kartikey, has leaked renders of the Xiaomi 15 Pro before it launches next month. As the images confirm, the Xiaomi 15 Pro will retain the design of its predecessor, with the iconic square-shaped triple rear camera module.
The LED flash array is now relocated outside of the camera island. Xiaomi may have tweaked the design to accommodate a powerful Laser AF module.

The upcoming flagship smartphone from Xiaomi will reportedly be available in three colors: black, white, and silver. Xiaomi would surely name these colors a little differently. The smartphone seems to have a sleek glass sandwich construction with a flat metal frame.
Some reports also claim the Xiaomi 15 Pro would be available in a special titanium edition as well. Perhaps the Chinese company intends to compete with the Desert Titanium version of the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
What are the specifications of the upcoming Xiaomi flagship phone?
There have been several leaks and rumors about the Xiaomi 15 Pro. They claim the flagship smartphone will have a 6.78-inch quad-curved AMOLED from TCL. The display would have a 2K resolution, 500+ PPI, and a 120Hz refresh rate.
The triple rear camera module is rumored to feature a 50 MP main camera with a 1/1.3″ sensor and f/1.4 aperture. There would be a 50 MP ultrawide and a 50 MP 5x Tele-macro camera with a 30cm minimum focus distance accompanying the main camera. There will be a 32MP front-facing camera.
Besides the professional-grade imaging hardware and stunning display, the Xiaomi 15 Pro would also pack a massive 6000mAh battery with support for 90W wired, 80W wireless, and 10W reverse wireless charging.
Xiaomi may announce its upcoming flagship smartphone will get five Android OS updates. The Titanium edition could also have satellite connectivity.
