Only two slots for IO expansion? What about oob central management port ..?
Dell chassis is still the best and most advance in technology and supportability, they have the best online resources for ease of use by comparison, ucs systems are late in the game, hp has pretty solid chassis but lack of ease with online support and driver download, they guard their drivers like need to know basis lots require registration and validation before you can even download a stupid driver update.
supermicro , quanta are all piece of crap in terms of support unless you have enterprise support contract with them, Supermicro uses weird and cryptic parts that it's very hard to find reference online even on their own website, mostl 3rd party parts that you get from supermicro lack of firmware support after a few year, and let's not even get into their RMA process…

These blade systems are flooding the used market for CHEAP right now, I'm seing chassis with almost fully populated blades (everything but the RAM), for <$800 but I can't find any further information on them beyond "this is a blade system that exists".
Is there a licensing system tied to them functioning? I know Dell dabbled in that for a while at the same time these came out, so it's not unprecedented, but it can also kill their usability in a home lab.
Has anyone tried these with a Proxmox config? It seems like the ideal buy and run system for an on-demand virtualization setup with a JBOD over mini-SAS, but the only IO boards I can find just have wildly varying SFP port counts. Even though they sold high density JBODs using mini-SAS in the same generation. Virtualized OS storage over network would be a painful bottleneck to choke on for anything more taxing at boot than Debian Server, and these old integrated storage controllers typically only support RAID 0/1 with a max of 4tb/drive. With only 2 drives per blade, even with Proxmox storage pooling that's only 64tb, 32tb with 1 drive redundancy on each box. Nothing to sneeze at space-wise, but that's playing fast and loose with a lot of data that'd be way easier to safely manage with a zfs or btrfs setup…
