In this video I discuss computer science vs computer engineering. Computer science and computer engineering have many similarities but also some big differences. Computer science majors learn more about software while computer engineers learn more about hardware. In terms of the curriculum, computer science majors go on to take classes on algorithms and computation, whereas computer engineers take circuits and electronics classes. Both majors use a lot of math but computer science majors use more discrete math, while computer engineers use more algebra and calculus level math (that you’re used to). Computer scientists really won’t see calculus much in their curriculum.

My university, University of Oslo, does not have, even for the pure CS major, any math classes besides Logic 101. I'm not saying this to argue against "all CS programs have calculus" but rather to state how much this fucked me in terms of pursuing a master's degree, EVEN WITHIN CS, at other universities. Kids, do your calculus.

Very good video. Computer science does not delve much into hardware design and is much more code heavy. Computer engineering def goes into some software development but is much mode electronics focued.

At my university CS was a 3 year bachelor program and CE a 5 year master program. 95% of the courses in CS were the same as in CE. The only difference was the order of the courses since CE had their specific courses mixed in from the first year.

The CS program was discontinued in 2013 since there were too few applicants. But there's instead a program that is more software programming focused and only includes the basic CS courses. So now there's the "hardware path" originating in CS and the "software path" originating in CS. And I think it's a good setup. But I do wish there was a way to still get an official CS degree by taking the courses missing in your chosen program.

I Made The World's Smallest Server Rack - With UPS and SSD Storage

Having your own home server rack or homelab is really useful, but you have to have a relatively large space to set it up, it generates a lot of heat and can be pretty noisy. So that’s why I built this, the world’s smallest server rack that fits right in on my desk alongside a drink or cup of coffee. In this video, I’ll show you how I made it.
