Looking good. I built a 22’x11’ for 6 racks in my garage. Ripped off old sheetrock, insulated, added new sheetrock and new partition walls. So I’ve been there dude. It will all be worth it when it’s complete. I also left my garage door fully functional.

Any plans to semi sound proof it?

Lowered house value? hah, no, you just made it to what you need. If you donÂŽt plan to take out more loans on the house, donÂŽt worry. And to me it looks like you are not changing much and its reversible.

I hear that all the time when i change something, you lowered the apartment value, car value, phone value, computer value. I dont really care, houses, computers, cars are all tools needed for different applications – if i can change something to do that better, iÂŽll do it and the value is a question when i need to sell it, not today 😁

Love the build, going to look sick!

Rule of thumb for framing is…everytime wood meets concrete use treated wood. Also king studs would make walls less prone to bowing.

Great job on the Garage Data Center construction. Everything looks great. Are you just putting fans in the back to the heat out of the house?

Did you have to get a building permit and inspections since the walls are permanent?

How long did it take you to talk your wife into doing this? LOL

Hmmm "washer & dryer space" more like a place holder for future expansion after the bear market is over. Looks very professional well done!

Wow that looks really good! Measure twice cut once ftw. May you please explain your air movement solution? You may have already.

I love projects like this, I wish I had a garage to do the same!

Interesting concept.. My only concern is how you plan to service the racks if they are so tight in the frame and no separation between them?

I don't think I remember ever seeing this Jared. This video is awesome. Great documentation my friend. Take care

I am thinking about 20×10 and about 15 feet high at my backyard. as 200 sq ft is no need permit. I wanted to setup standby generated on the side specifically to run the data center. Anyone has experience? Alternative, raised my house to about 8 to 9 feet height and use that ground to run datacenter.

    October 11, 2024 at 2:07 pm

I feel your setup is too small and you don't have enough room for the air circulation.

Leaving a service loop is even more important with Romex. You can fish new wire through that conduit with little issue. Not so easy with Romex that's properly anchored to the framing.

Sorry if this has been talked about, but what region are you in? what sort of temperatures are doing outside for your seasons? Full four seasons and the widest spread of temps or a narrow one? etc.

how do you get the broadband width for all that servers?

Do you know of any data center companies paying for in home mini data center space?
