So if you had a single slot card like a P400 you could get away with adding it correct? I'm about to repurpose a number of GL380's and wanted to get a card in them for Plex transcodes.

Will the SL250s G8 also allow this Nvidia P100 GPU? I know the spec sheet only says it allows Nvidia K40. But if this works with DL380p G8, will it work for SL250s G8 also??? Thanks

Hello, great video! I'm going to put a tesla t4 graphics card on the dl380 g8, but I can't figure out which thermal solution will be optimal. Are there enough fans available or is it worth buying a blow adapter or something similar? What kind of usb fan model is shown in this video?

  13. @jdev_

From what I can tell the riser pictured is actually components from two separate part numbers. Here is what I found:

dl380p riser with 2x PCIe x16 connectors: 662525-001 (does not come with the metal GPU cage pictured in this video).

dl380p riser with 1x PCIe x16 and 1x PCIe x8 connector: 728536-001 (comes with the double-width GPU cage).

There seems to also be a 2x PCIe x16 with a GPU cage: 710727-001

    similar/related parts:
    HP DL380p/560 Gen8 3 Slot PCI-E Riser Kit: 653206-B21

    HP DL380p/560 Gen8 2 Slot 2×16 PCI-E Riser Kit: 653208-B21

HP DL380p Gen8 Double Wide Riser Cage Kit: 662885-B21

HP DL380p Gen8 NEBS Conversion Cage Kit: 707865-B21

HP DL380p Gen8 Double Wide Graphic Processing Unit Drive Cage Kit: 728543-B21

HP DL380p Gen8 Double Wide Slot1 Riser Cage Kit: 752803-B21

    HP 150-W PCI-E Power Cable Kit: 669777-B21

HP 225-W PCIe Power Cable Kit: 728539-B21

HP PCIe 10pin to 2x6pin Power Cable: 757156-B21

This is not working, cos I have exactly the same riser, power cable and gpu and it does not work… it is cos hpe dl380 gen8 doesn't have 4g encoding.

  19. @StuffJason437

    November 3, 2024 at 9:07 pm

I have been using the GPU riser the server came with, and had no idea they make dual 1s. Shame they're rare as hens teeth.

    November 3, 2024 at 9:07 pm

What size power supply do you have on this? I'm getting a PS1 light and don't really understand why. Am I out of bounds for the rated wattage?

Just out of interest sake, does anyone know if the GPU cable for the HP ProLiant DL380 Gen8 will work in the Dell PowerEdge R720?

  23. @rcguentherwi

    November 3, 2024 at 9:07 pm

How do you have your bios configured? I have an HP DL380 G8, and the bios doesn't even recognize the card, nor does the operating system. Also the G8 GPU Entitlement Kit, does not provide the right power adapter. In your video you use an adapter to go Male to Female to the power kit, I don't have this power cable, but what is the part number also?

  24. @worldgate989

    November 3, 2024 at 9:07 pm

I have a gen9 of this machine, put a M40 in it and all the lights blink, im guessing its that power cable i was using. In a few days i get to try again.

  25. @hacks4geeks

    November 3, 2024 at 9:07 pm

What wattage is your PSU? I´m trying with a K80 in a DL560 gen8 and can´t power on the card.
If I connect and external PCIe to the tesla (comming from an external PSU powered on) it can detect it.
    Otherwise is impossible.
    I have redundant 750W PSUs..

For this Server Typ you need for Proc 1 on the right Side the GPU cage with part Number 752803-B21. With bending a part of the cpu 1 cooler mount and get rid of the server mainboard handle, you can install 2 GPUs in this typ of server.

I am trying to replicate this using a DL380 gen9 + Tesla P100 + 800w PSUs + Pcie 3 X16 Slot riser + gen9 cable, but I get "Server Critical Fault (Service Information: Power On Fault, System Board, AUX/Main EFUSE Regulator 1 (10h))", do you have any hint on what could be going wrong here. Thanks in advance!

  31. @adinzaa

    November 3, 2024 at 9:07 pm

I installed the tesla m40 using the power cable shown in the video, but the card was not recognized in ubuntu or in the bios. This was on a proliant g8 with 2x750w power supply.

Eventually I got it to work. The steps I did:

    – Updated the bios via ILO (you need to enable ilo in the bios, specify an ip adress, set up a username and connect ilo port to the router)
    – Used linux drivers from the nvidia website
    – Enabled 4g encoding in bios (press ctrl +a to enter the menu)

After all of this the gpu was still not recognized. I put the server in performance power mode and the card finally got recognized

I know this is an old video, but I'm piecing together to purchase one of these and planning to put my k80 in there. I noticed quite a few differen blower options, and I noticed you set yours in there as well. But is there adequate space of putting a blower on there without removing the plastic protector for the memory?

Have you tested with any non HP GPU’s?

I'm trying to get an M40 working on a DL320e but the option for 4g decoding is missing from even the advanced menu.

What is Roblox? ROBLOX is an online virtual playground and workshop, where kids of all ages can safely interact, create, have fun, and learn. It’s unique in that practically everything on ROBLOX is designed and constructed by members of the community. ROBLOX is designed for 13 to 18 year olds, but it is open to people of all ages. Each player starts by choosing an avatar and giving it an identity. They can then explore ROBLOX — interacting with others by chatting, playing games, or collaborating on creative projects. Each player is also given their own piece of undeveloped real estate along with a virtual toolbox with which to design and build anything — be it a navigable skyscraper, a working helicopter, a giant pinball machine, a multiplayer “Capture the Flag” game or some other, yet-to-be-dreamed-up creation. There is no cost for this first plot of virtual land. By participating and by building cool stuff, ROBLOX members can earn specialty badges as well as ROBLOX dollars (“Robux”). In turn, they can shop the online catalog to purchase avatar clothing and accessories as well as premium building materials, interactive components, and working mechanisms.
