The absence of decent ventilation is a red flag with this design. I know they are considering fans, but why not just include vents for now? A vented case is kind of a no-brainer.

the ventilation as shown would definately be a major problem , the pi s running btc / lnd would over heat in no time, and i do mean in minutes. i could smell the heatsink 's glue melt within 10min yesterday after relocating them, which is why i google "pi rack diy" this morning .. i stii love the setup though, i m sort of hoping they ve revised yhe design by now

Is there a way how to control enclosure fan speed? 2 fans are connected to the 3-pin connector on SSD plate on 1st and 4th rPi. Those small air vents on the side of the enclosure create very loud turbulence

What poe hat do you run? I have the official one for the 4B+ and it ramps up and down all the time even with forced air flow behind it. I can't get it to stop doing it no matter what I do.

Those USB to USB doohickies just pop out with the green PCB and exposed solder. A small black plastic cap would have made it much more appealing and safe.

[Coming into this a bit later as stumbled across this on searching for something else]
Fantastic video. I've had one of these for some time and it works really well. I'm running Home Assistant on one, 2 instances of Open Media Vault (one with Plex) that has replaced my Synology, and a fourth running some general utilities (e.g. Solar logging).
The USB M-M PCBs come fitted with a cover now so that issue has gone away. I have 2 Noctua fans either side providing cooling (there are mounts and vent holes already fitted). I had to take off the cover lid as it was quite clumsy to route USB power. But….
I hadn't thought about adding PoE to the mix as I thought that you needed to provide USB power for the SATA and board. One question – if you use PoE does the fan interface also get powered ? I'm guessing it is 5V but wanted to check.
This video has inspired me to buy another one of these and also to make a custom insert for a second SSD.

It may be wise @ 5:50 to let viewers know how to make that ribbon cable connection. A person new to that type won't know that you have to pull the clip on the socket out before the put the cable in. You then push it back in place to secure the cable. I've seen more than a few videos of people making that connection, but no one ever points that out.
