Do you recommend me, a person with no knowledge when I'm going into this, attain my Google certificate and GRE mastery before taking my Comptia Security + exam? I've heard you need months to prepare and i'm worried just having my google certificate isn't enough.

I graduated with a BS in cyber security in 2020. I got an Amazon operations position out of college and worked for a year and 6 months trying to move laterally. It didn’t work out.

After that I did a short internship for cyber at NSA.

By 2022 I relentlessly applied to cyber jobs and studied hard. For 4-6 months I had many interviews, but no job. I could not understand what I was doing wrong.

I currently have worked for two years now as a technical support specialist in a niche role. I have been studying for SEC+ for 2 weeks now and I’m ready to do this again. Let’s go guys! Yall can do this!!!!

It's frustrating discovering this video after I've bought an almost 1k cyber security job program and even more annoying when the course you recommended is quite cheap I think. Now I am not sure what I should do as I want to do the google course too lol

Let me tell you something here! I did a boot camp certificate from a renowned university for 10 month and payed over $17 grand. They had 9 module and there was so much to study and it was tough but after completing it I can say that neither I became jack of all trait nor master of any skill. In the end we were simply told by our instructors to do network plus and security plus cert and try to get any entry level job in IT. I was discouraged to see there was no Cyber Security job without any experience let alone there wasn't any entry level job. From my instructors and some youtubers I got the idea if you want to get into cybersecurity you will have to first do at least A+ or Net + first and try to gain some experience in some network or help desk position . That throw me off and seeing a list of never ending certs I was really devastated. Now not many people would tell you this short cut about getting into the cybersecurity though it would still need a lot of effort and time for a beginner. I am seeing some positive comments here and I am intrigued to start my journey again with Google cyber security cert. I liked your video but at the same time I felt really devastated to see that my instructors must have withheld these information that you talked about in this video like doing hack the box cert or GRC or doing virtual training. The instructor did mention few of those thing very casually like defcon or hack the box challenge but they never impishness on these things that you mentioned and how much they are important to make up for lack of experience and to get a job

I'm starting today after deciding to give up on engineering . Gonna do the bare minimum to just pass my last 2 years of mechatronics collage degree and dedicate myself for cyber security from now . I feel scared , i feel its first and biggest risk i take in my life that will change lots of things for me . but i will keep going because i spent 4 years in procrastinations and lostness on every study and can feel that now that am 20 yo , i will make it in this no matter what it takes . Because i finally understood that im not late as i thought . Wish everyone best of luck .

I started in June, and this week, on the first of October, I got a trainee position in cybersecurity. I completed the Google course, the Cisco course, and the TryHackMe course. I also took a course offered by a university near my home. Besides that, what definitely helped me was the CV in that format. I started job hunting and within a week, I had two interviews. In one, I got the job, in the other, I didn’t, but that doesn't matter haha. Thanks ❤

New Home Backup Server (Dell T640 with 18 20TB Disks)

In this video I create a new backup server from a Dell EMC PowerEdge T640 with 18x 20TB Seagate Exos refurbished drives. Also there’s some more ranting about backups in general. But idk, there are chapters so you can skip to whatever. And it’s not technically a server, in that it doesn’t serve files. It’s really more of a client that takes files from other servers and holds onto them. But I call it a backup server because hardware-wise it’s a server. Anywho, that’s the description. It’s probably not optimal for the YouTube algorithm, but hey, I’m not an influencer even though I have a TikTok account that I don’t use.

Update: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Secv5P01k2M&t=5195

02:08 The Drives
03:30 The Data & Other Backups

28:27 Booting & Array Creation

The Man Who Revolutionized Computer Science With Math

The Man Who Revolutionized Computer Science With Math

Leslie Lamport revolutionized how computers talk to each other. The Turing Award-winning computer scientist pioneered the field of distributed systems, where multiple components on different networks coordinate to achieve a common objective. (Internet searches, cloud computing and artificial intelligence all involve orchestrating legions of powerful computing machines to work together.) In the early 1980s, Lamport also created LaTeX, a document preparation system that provides sophisticated ways to typeset complex formulas and format scientific documents. In 1989, Lamport invented Paxos, a “consensus algorithm” that allows multiple computers to execute complex tasks; without it, modern computing could not exist. He’s also brought more attention to a handful of problems, giving them distinctive names like the bakery algorithm and the Byzantine Generals Problem. Lamport’s work since the 1990s has focused on “formal verification,” the use of mathematical proofs to verify the correctness of software and hardware systems. Notably, he created a “specification language” called TLA+ (for Temporal Logic of Actions), which employs the precise language of mathematics to prevent bugs and avoid design flaws.
