The cat 6 wire you cant find where it goes prob goes outside in case anyone ever gets old home phone haha you can use cat 6 as phone wire just use one pair. But it comes out next to where your power meter is. Also i work for att and your installer got real lucky there was already a fiber ran into that panel from outside! just careful around the fiber at the bottom of that white box it will brake out of the fiber end if you pull on it or move it around to much haha

Racking equipment is so dang satisfying, I expect some cable porn by the end of this… Also, how tf have I never seen that cage nut tool before??? My fingertips and flat-head screwdrivers will be forever grateful.

the plywood is used when you cant attach the rack to the studs by itself or you have multiple pieces of equipment you want to attach directly to the wall. And yes, I always use pilot holes…for everything. Those bolts will be much easier to remove than if you had used screws so good call on that. My main complaint is it always seems the front door smashes the patch cables when it is closed so they always end left open or removed

Good video man! I’m in such a predicament with trying to decide what wall mount rack to get. Limited room and like you all my cables terminate into a network panel. So your idea of mounting above the rack is an idea.

Hello again, I was wondering what are those 2 white switches? One of them has to be the 1 Gb switch but the other one? I am not too sure. Is it your POE switch for your cameras? I also notice you have a 4 ports switch on top, what do you use it for out of curiosity?

  12. @ShinyTechThings

    November 2, 2024 at 11:55 pm

That is correct, plywood then the rack mount, connect the rack and drill some pilots to the plywood and bolt it. Bolt the plywood to the stud(s) and the rack to the plywood and you can probably rang from the rack. I've installed several of those already. Mask off with painters tape and use touch-up paint after you got all the cables run and voila! The plywood you can make the length a little bigger than 2 studs so it'll be super strong.

I installed the same rack with the exception mine has a glass door on it. Since I mounted mine under the basement steps, I ended up mounting a piece of plywood to the studs to mount the rack on. Been very happy with this rack. It keeps the equipment and wiring very neat. Good video.

I'm battling a 12u w/same mounting plate. Client specified 1/4" lag screws, but cabinet is not clearing screw heads when attempting to heft it into position. Of course, they don't wanna pay for an assist tech. Some have mentioned using deck screws with low-profile heads. Any1 experienced this issue? What was your workaround?

Use a magnetic stud finder; much better accuracy.

do you have to use the rack? Can they be removed? I want to buy this for outdoor use (to house a stereo receiver) under a 14×20 pavilion

Would you happen to know where a good place to buy a no so expensive 1u battery backup or even the standing one. I need one for my rack that I will be installing. it's just going to power my dream machine, and switch ISP modem and that's it for now. Any help would be awesome.

    November 2, 2024 at 11:55 pm

Love that you seem to be so far out of your element with the hanging portion. . . I feel ya. Using plywood mounted to the wall with counter sunk holes for mounting the rack would make mounting the rack easier I would think.

  20. @shawnphillips1220

    November 2, 2024 at 11:55 pm

Any reason you didn't mount your rack directly over where your cables are so you could have ran them straight in from the back?

What is Roblox? ROBLOX is an online virtual playground and workshop, where kids of all ages can safely interact, create, have fun, and learn. It’s unique in that practically everything on ROBLOX is designed and constructed by members of the community. ROBLOX is designed for 13 to 18 year olds, but it is open to people of all ages. Each player starts by choosing an avatar and giving it an identity. They can then explore ROBLOX — interacting with others by chatting, playing games, or collaborating on creative projects. Each player is also given their own piece of undeveloped real estate along with a virtual toolbox with which to design and build anything — be it a navigable skyscraper, a working helicopter, a giant pinball machine, a multiplayer “Capture the Flag” game or some other, yet-to-be-dreamed-up creation. There is no cost for this first plot of virtual land. By participating and by building cool stuff, ROBLOX members can earn specialty badges as well as ROBLOX dollars (“Robux”). In turn, they can shop the online catalog to purchase avatar clothing and accessories as well as premium building materials, interactive components, and working mechanisms.
