I picked an HP that's similar for about $80. Four E7420s(replaced with 7440s), 88GB of ram but only one power supply. Thing does great in multi-threaded tasks but single-threaded tasks it's awful and eats a hell of a lot of power. I tried finding a set of rails for it recently to add it to another project but was damn near $200 for a used pair of those. Ended up replacing a raid controller's battery and ran Proxmox on it. Without a working battery man the disk performance was god awful.

issue with the drive format is caused by having ESXi installed. Windows doesnt like anything other than NTFS issue is also there when Linux is installed on a Boot Drive then you go to install Windows.

You can reconfigure the RAID card as an HBA but you have to put new firmware on it to do so.

I just had a battle with a brand new USB stick. Was trying to reinstall my freeNAS box and was just having a hell of a time… swapped the USB for another identical brand new one and the install went perfectly. I threw that one in the bin…

GPT is only useful for drives above 2TB. Below that, stick with trusty, old MBR.

power supply looks about 1000Watts (100v-127v at 8.6amps – Watts = V*A, so 115v (something in between on the listed voltage range) *8.6a =989watts )

Man, ngl ur stuff is kinda expensive, even without shipping. No offense here, maybe prices in Denmark are that way, but at least here in Germany, i can get like 16GB Sticks of DDR3 1600Mhz ECC memory for like 12-20 Euro. In the other Hand, Servers seem kinda reasonable 🙂

Doesn't matter that much if the device is "grounded" or not, what matters is that you and the device (and components being handled) have a common grounding.

Solution for CMOS checksum error: Find the CR2032 coin cell and replace it with a new one. Reboot and set the date and time correctly in whatever OS you are using.

I am trying to add a GPU to this same model, IBM x3850 M2. The reason in the onboard graphics only allow 1024×768 on Server 2019. I opened up the x8 port and installed the GPU but no video card is detected in BIOS. It can detect other types of PCI cards but not the video card (I tried many different cards and ports) Is there any way to enable the PCI video card?
