Spending $4,534,741 For CHROMA SWORDS In Blade Ball
Spending $4,534,741 For CHROMA SWORDS In Blade Ball
What is Roblox? ROBLOX is an online virtual playground and workshop, where kids of all ages can safely interact, create, have fun, and learn. It’s unique in that practically everything on ROBLOX is designed and constructed by members of the community. ROBLOX is designed for 13 to 18 year olds, but it is open to people of all ages. Each player starts by choosing an avatar and giving it an identity. They can then explore ROBLOX — interacting with others by chatting, playing games, or collaborating on creative projects. Each player is also given their own piece of undeveloped real estate along with a virtual toolbox with which to design and build anything — be it a navigable skyscraper, a working helicopter, a giant pinball machine, a multiplayer “Capture the Flag” game or some other, yet-to-be-dreamed-up creation. There is no cost for this first plot of virtual land. By participating and by building cool stuff, ROBLOX members can earn specialty badges as well as ROBLOX dollars (“Robux”). In turn, they can shop the online catalog to purchase avatar clothing and accessories as well as premium building materials, interactive components, and working mechanisms.

Very good video Morten, I am really pleased to see that you are going to focus on Proxmox for 2019. I think it's going to be a pleasant experience and it's fantastic to see a different hypervisor being used.

Yay, finally welcome to the bright side of the force 😉 As u know I use Proxmox for years in a productive enviromment so feel free to ask anything. The "full feature set" includes HA: High Availability and Live Migration. To see more than one Server in the List u need to build a cluster. "Node" is common in Unix enviromments. And for ur migration of the VMs just create new VMs and copy the VMDK-files so probably don't need to reinstall everything. The VM config files are located at /etc/pve/qemu-server if u need them.

Great to see your first attempts with Proxmox. It runs on my Nodes stable with Proxmox VE No-Subscription Repository.
I use this 3 Years now and im Happy with it.

If you have a friend you can (ab)use for proxmox support, that's a good reason to try proxmox first. The learning curve can be puzzling going from one environment to another – when going ESX, we 'bribed' another company's admin to come so we could hear what worked and didn't, and pick his brain. And I've seen proxmox do anything I do with ESXi, with the exception of vmotion.
@Kino6808
November 8, 2024 at 7:43 am
Hello morten, happy new year also you. Would it be possible that you show us in proxmox once the network configuration? Eg install windows and then set up the network so that it comes to the internet? That would be great.
@MinecraftAzsassin
November 8, 2024 at 7:43 am
Honestly has me thinking a bit. I currently use XCP-NG (and I love it) after using Citrix Xenserver then to MS Hyper-V Server (I didn’t like Hyper-V too much, didn’t last a month). Might throw Proxmox on a server to see how I could use it.
@snrnwl13
November 8, 2024 at 7:43 am
Happy new year Morten! 😀
So happy to see that you are trying Proxmox out! Proxmox should be more than enough for homelab/hobby project environment. I've been using Proxmox for various home projects for years. I was mostly focusing on building multi-GPU-passthrough workstation stuff and tried out some well-known (and free/cheap) hypervisor options, such as ESXI, UnRAID, DIY setup (Arch Linux + QEMU/KVM) and, personally, Proxmox performed better than all those competitors and had tons of documents and community supports when needed. And now my 24/7 home server has been happily running on Proxmox for more than a year without any major issues. Even though I am NOT a professional system admin or anything and doing these stuff purely for fun but I personally feel that Proxmox has a lot of potential as a serious hypervisor against ESXI.
@welsh1lad
November 8, 2024 at 7:43 am
KVM / proxmox I love it , introduced it to my last company. They still use it . I use it personally . Aws have moved over to kvm so has apple.
@miguelpaz6390
November 8, 2024 at 7:43 am
Morten. Happy new year. I enjoy your videos a lot. My company uses ProxMox for our server. R710 with 2 x5980 processors and 128gb ram. I had an issue when I configured two SSD in raid 1 through the physical raid controller which made the R/W speeds unbearable. All VMs we’re painfully slow reacting. I then eliminated the raid on those drives and installed ProxMox to a USB and the issue is gone.
We run 4 Linux machines | 1 NAS (4 2TB in RAID10) | 5 Windows machines |
We haven’t had issues yet except for the above mentioned ssd raid config. I’m exited you are going to make new videos with ProxMox bc this will definitely help us.
@johnkristian

Become a VMUG advangate member. For 1600kr pr year, you get "all" vmware products … at least hell of a lot of them! I love the vmug advantage program!
@johnkristian
November 8, 2024 at 7:43 am
1400 kr for a 2 socket server a year is not that bad if you can get by with community support.
I would consider it. But VMUG advantage is not that much more expensive and then you have vmware licenses. 🙂
@henriquecorrea1562
November 8, 2024 at 7:43 am
Even though LinusTechTips always use unRaid, my neighbor (which knows a lot about servers and virtualization) once told me to run away from it, because of.. something to do with the filesystem they use not being very reliable or something.. so just be careful and do your research if you don't get to like Proxmox. 😉
@damonmueller4709
November 8, 2024 at 7:43 am
You're going to be very happy with proxmox. I found your channel a long time ago in researching virtualization. Seemed like you were all towards ESXI, which I still wanted to know about. But I couldn't follow that… ended up going with pve because I favor low overhead in my business. Extremely impressive results. I keep replicating the results and it just keeps impressing me. You'll see. I've been running it in production for a while too, easing it in. Prior I was running bare metal, this is better in every way. I can reboot a VM in 5-10 seconds where it took MANY minutes to post before. The underlying system is incredibly stable. Glad to see you're playing with pve, I feel you're like me.. you're heading down the right path. ESXI is too expensive. And you have WAY more servers than I do. Save some money bro!
Proxmox VE No-Subscription Repository, don't be afraid to use it. I have some servers updating with it and some not, as a test. I'd rather get the security updates. If it crashes, just make sure you have your actual storage separate from the boot, takes < 4 minutes to get back up from a total failure. BTW, use SATADOMs (supermicro SUPERDOMs are working great for me, 16GB does the job perfectly) for all of your production servers (in mirror-1 if you're extra careful). Proxmox writes more to the boot volume than for instance FreeNAS (another distro that recommends flash media). I haven't had problems on any of my pve flash drive installs, yet. Better to be safe than sorry though. I'm running mirrored SUPERDOMs from here on and as soon as I can take the flash media ones offline those will also be converted. I feel it's the correct way to do it. Not 100% necessary but it may help you sleep better.
You have to admit, KVM… has come A LONG way. Like a ridiculously long way. It felt broken when I first tried it in the earliest days. Now, with pve… you have to admit… it's becoming really hard to tell the difference between the resources on bare metal and virtualized. It's getting really blurry… and I like it.

you can make a video about proxmox VS hyper v VS esxi. what is the best option for your home data center or small data center
because I do not know what the best option is and my friends do not know it either

Im in a transition to proxmox myself, Ive disabled the RAID controller, and allocated all my drives to the ZFS file system

You didn't mention it, but my FAVORITE FEATURE in Proxmox is automated/scheduled backups of running servers – YES – EVEN in the free version! This is super great for small-time users. (oh and BTW they include a utility to convert existing ESXI vmdk files. I converted quite a few servers from ESXi.) — Great Video!

I just started using Proxmox yesterday, the install went pretty smooth. The clustering feature is smooth as well.

VMWare lost us the same exact way. The "feature-ripping" got out of control. The support cost?? 20K a year for a 3 node install. Crazy. Proxmox works very well. You just have to know what you are doing, which you obviously do.

I love proxmox. One of the things I love most is ZFS. Making one VM then cloning it costs no extra space at first. only the changes add to the space used.
The other thing I love is it's based on Debian. so you can really dig into it and customize it for what you want.

Note that ESXi has a free version with a LOT of limitations (examples: maximum of 8 CPU cores [does not matter if single or dual CPUs] and 8 GB of RAM). So Proxmox can cover what ESXi have missed.
Also the list of hypervisors goes on…
Microsoft Hyper-V
VMware vSphere ESXi
Linux KVM (there are lot of other hypervisors derived from this)
XCP-ng
Proxmox VE (derived from Linux KVM)
Oracle Virtualbox (needs a host OS like Windows or macOS, basically good for testing purposes)
Nutanix
oVirt (formerly Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization – runs on RHEL and derivatives like Fedora and CentOS)

The HP/HPE counterpart for the Lenovo/IBM IMM is iLO (Integrated Lights-Out) and in Dell, it is iDRAC (Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller).

The system and the data drive should be separate,
128 GB – 256 GB (single or RAID-1) for the boot drive and the other remaining for the data drives. Or better yet, a SAN (fiber-channel or iSCSI). A SAN is much better in an enterprise setup.

Why only IBM servers? I remember hearing you saying HPE is problematic but why not Dell for example?
