Hey Linus can you please please build a rack mount hackintosh, like the old xserve I’d absolutely love to see a video where you build the much forgotten enterprise Mac rack mount sever. I think it would be a great video !

  8. @big-balls

    October 27, 2024 at 3:18 am

The important question is can it grate cheese with that front cover?

  9. @the.danielmason99

    October 27, 2024 at 3:18 am

I know I'm late to the party, but this is also a great system for video professionals. A lot of pro video gear (Think video switchers, LED display drivers, and entepriise stream encoders) are rack mounted. This is perfect for expanability and general clenliness. I really hope that Apple makes a rack mounted version of whatever an Apple Silicon Mac Pro would be.

Options for buying Apple machine: 1. Money is no problem. 2. Being so tech enthusiastic.
Reason for buying Apple machine: To see why are so expensive.

  17. @killingerk

    October 27, 2024 at 3:18 am

I guess this will come in handy if you have a server and you don't use Mac that much and you can put it in your server unit and have it for when you need the software only

  24. @2guysvintage699

    October 27, 2024 at 3:18 am

Love the absolute love you give Apple when you feel they deserve it even when your not inclined. I even more appreciate the absolute stunned and awe of the WTF and WHY pricing for what you get. This was peak ridiculousness. NOW with M1Ultra in cost effective and M1 Max smacking equal priced anything at $1799….. Linus, what can Apple do with Apple SoC and their cool AmD relationship with the Mac Pro that may or may not come? Storage and almost confusing thought on Apples PRO line which is upgradable around a understandable unified SoC architecture. What is your guess for the next Mac Pro? BTW you encouraged me to rip apart a $50 2010 Mac Pro and toss in a RX580 and thermal paste a couple 5690's. I had a few WD black 4gb Hdd's for free and it came with an optical drive gone but 2 1 TB 2.5 Ssd's! I got to play DCS on a Mac that doesn't lag! Well in Windows. Thank you! Again, great vid with the Tick Tock girls set up. Thank you and best of luck. You are a great human. You took your buddies and helped them move up.

This mac would be so amazing in a music studio. After the actual mac studio came out though, it looks like the better option

  28. @VitruvianSoundNYC

    October 27, 2024 at 3:18 am

Definitely more for recording studio machine room rack mount applications than actual server usage.

  29. @viceconsulimhotepienenobed1573

Looks like the classical Apple useless expensive bs.

  30. @KXY5

    October 27, 2024 at 3:18 am

9:28 Have you heard about Apple remote desktop application? Or even better, with a VPN you can connect to any Apple computer on the network (if enabled) from anywhere in the world.
But anyways, Mac Pros aren’t mostly meant for server use.

  31. @KlavierGayming

    October 27, 2024 at 3:18 am

i mean it isnt intended for server use, more for someone who has a server rack and doesnt want the mac pro taking up space close to the rack so they just put it in the rack

  32. @NikkoKnight703

    October 27, 2024 at 3:18 am

musician here, i just got this for my studio and it has been amazing. i love that you can install internal components without having to unplug everything from the machine.

it also occurred to me that apple did not intend this for a data center, but rather for studios, rack devices where the amplifiers are also located. otherwise, if I think of it as a server, it is not suitable for the task in every respect.

  39. @Warthog06

    October 27, 2024 at 3:18 am

What cart is that I have a rack mounted Mac Pro and I’m looking for a good cart

  40. @desktop-ini

    October 27, 2024 at 3:18 am

Might be useful for storing workstations I guess…

  41. @matuopm

    October 27, 2024 at 3:18 am

It's not really for the datacenter. More like a homerack you have next to your desk or some musicstudio where they also use 19" stuff. It's overpriced as hell. But it's pretty.

  42. @jamesburton2497

    October 27, 2024 at 3:18 am

I want to see your rendition of the most powerful server but the most quiet server

  43. @AstonThaRat

    October 27, 2024 at 3:18 am

Servers aren't the only equipment that belongs in a rackmount. Most professional audio engineers and producers are Mac users and that's pretty much been the industry standard for decades. The first Mac Pro I ever saw in person was at a Guitar Center store.

  44. @EvanPilb

    October 27, 2024 at 3:18 am

This'd be a very expensive accessory for live productions or musicians trying to justify the price cuz its in a rack lol

  45. @mpxz999

    October 27, 2024 at 3:18 am

    This case is BEAUTIFUL

  46. @cassiuscartland

    October 27, 2024 at 3:18 am

it would be amazing if apple made another Xserve too. these are cool, but the price is way to high and not enough ports. Xserve had loads of connectivity and wasn't that expensive

  47. @epereyralucena

    October 27, 2024 at 3:18 am

ii think the idea was to place the computer, into the server rack, not to use it as server per se. an expensive idea

Thank you for watching I LOVE YOU

What is Roblox? ROBLOX is an online virtual playground and workshop, where kids of all ages can safely interact, create, have fun, and learn. It’s unique in that practically everything on ROBLOX is designed and constructed by members of the community. ROBLOX is designed for 13 to 18 year olds, but it is open to people of all ages. Each player starts by choosing an avatar and giving it an identity. They can then explore ROBLOX — interacting with others by chatting, playing games, or collaborating on creative projects. Each player is also given their own piece of undeveloped real estate along with a virtual toolbox with which to design and build anything — be it a navigable skyscraper, a working helicopter, a giant pinball machine, a multiplayer “Capture the Flag” game or some other, yet-to-be-dreamed-up creation. There is no cost for this first plot of virtual land. By participating and by building cool stuff, ROBLOX members can earn specialty badges as well as ROBLOX dollars (“Robux”). In turn, they can shop the online catalog to purchase avatar clothing and accessories as well as premium building materials, interactive components, and working mechanisms.
