Xeon gold 6148's are going for as low as $80, which are the same core count, but higher clock count and higher single core performance too, 6138's are going for as low as $35, which isnt bad at all

Not sure if it is right to ask here. Do you think building this desktop will be worth while for light programming, some basic AI and basic usage ? Hoping to get a desktop that can last >10years. Though there is Dell XPS 8960.

Get a cheap Xeon, call it a day, period. AMD workstations outside of threadripper is a complete & utter joke. Eypc is great for servers/homelabs, Xeon’s do it all. AMD’s only claim to fame is gaming but can only do it at the risk of being worthless for literally all other productivity tasks. Straight garbage.
