I live near Boston, which is not Texas,. Summer here tries its best to fake it. Room temps in the 80s with effective temps pushing 100 degrees at times. Without AC is very cruel to traditional Mini PCs. I can see such a rack as a center for my Raspberry Pis wearing only good active cooling. I see my Pi 4s as servers with Pi5 as a master node. Now the Pis are in individual cases. A proper rack would help organize them for 24/7 use. Mirrored drives would give me better data protection and central data storage service. I would also like to monitor my systems from a Pi node so I could shut stuff down before heat freezes it. Thanks for the video.

Have you ever checked how much power an Nvidia GPU (windows VM) consumes when it is idle? My AMD 7800 XT consumes 30W when idle. I think a significant portion of the idle power consumption might be due to the Nvidia GPU.

Great video! I'm planning to build a cluster with three Lenovo ThinkCentre M72e, a Raspberry Pi 4 in a Rackmate T1 case, and an 8-port switch. Do you think this setup will work well for a small-scale project ?

This is really nice, but honestly too much work. I just pile drives into a older pc case, slap on a 8 port switch, install Linux, setup samba/cifs/nfs, done.

Wishful feature? Drill your own holes to suit. I'm still trying to figure out the reason for a home lab besides being a gadget nut or education. I get that.

I built a big Server Rack for my Home Lab!

Learn more about Home Lab and Servers, and how you can start your own tech projects! This is the first time I’ve put a lot of time and effort into building a Server Rack for my Homelab! I talk about the different components and devices I’ve put into it. Doesn’t need to be a big server rack though, just start with a single server, like I did. #ServerRack #HomeServer #HomeLab

Why you should or shouldn't buy used servers!

Bob Pellerin (CTOBOB) looks into what to look for in a used server. Reliable machine can be had. Keep in mind that the more recent a server is, the most likely it will run newer operating systems.

The parts most likely to fail on serves are:
– Drives
– Power supplies
– Fans
