    Nvidia Broadcast sure seems like it would've been useful for this video. Is there a reason LTT Editors aren't using AI software to remove awful background noise like in this video? Seems kinda obvious to me…

    I can see it's more efficient at reading and writing, considering that to read and write as much data on a HDD, if you put aside the impracticality of having to wait, the amount of energy the hard drive would have to consume would be enormous.
    However, going by how many watts they are, 1.3 watts per terabyte doesn't do justice as a high capacity HDD will win, being roughly 5 watts in operation for what now goes up to 20 TB.
    This is some pretty cool tech, I've always loved looking at these kinds of application specific solutions, even if they're using standard processors, the specifity of the hardwares configuration and software.
    I wonder what could be done with an ASIC for this kind of scale.

    Cool tech, even if it's a bit of a marketing video.
    Still not sure what solution for storage I want to have in the future. This seems to only scale to the Datacenter, not consumers.

    Former Pure Storage engineer here. Their technology is so much more than "this is a big ssd." Pure has amazing technology under the hood.

    I was a bit skeptical about Pure's claims when we got our first x20 from them. After I moved all our VM workloads over (no VDI) their compression+dedupe was incredible. So not only like you covered they have these huge arrays that are raw storage, the dedupe+compression they use for VM workloads is insane (I saw 7:1, and like I said it wasn't even VDI). Along with their performance, their support was great as well. Unless they do something just awful moving forward I'm definitely an advocate for them and their hardware. It's exciting when a tech company actually does really cool things and aren't just super-hype BS.

    I've been a Pure Storage customer since pretty early on. There are always sales people claiming that a technology can do this that and the other. Pure Storage is the only technology vendor I've ever worked with who has lived up to and sometimes even surpassed all the sales claims.

    We (with a previous org) put their early arrays in a head to head with one of the legacy storage vendor all flash arrays. Not only did it out perform the competitors, it also was easier to use, and ultimately price-parity with the spinning disk equivalent. I wish I could say it was an easy sell to those holding the purse strings, but Pure was a brand new company and flash was a brand new tech at the time. Eventually they were convinced and the transformation was incredible.

    I love the direction they're taking with their tech and the differentiation in the market is great. Keep up the good work, Pure!

    I've been a customer of Pure for a dozen or so years and always migrate what ever company I work for to Pure. The software interface of Pure is MILES ahead of every other SAN on the market.
