Why You Shouldn't Be a Software Engineer...

Hey friend! Link to Lambda School IF you’ve decided to enroll: https://lambda-school.sjv.io/9WVJ3Y
Wheeew don’t come for me, but in this video I want to talk about why you shouldn’t be a software engineer. It’s not meant to discourage you, but just to give you as much information as possible! Especially if you want to learn how to code by going to a boot camp or are just curious about what a software developer is before you take the plunge. Also if you were looking at Lambda School, you can check out my link below and check out the video I did about bootcamps! .

Wow. That's really an interesting video you have made. I am a beginner, and I have less idea in coding. I am learning Python

i am already a software engineer if it was hard for you its not hard for everyone you just have a negative mindset discouraging other people from pursing their dreams as we speak im about to graduate with a degree in robotics engineering what matters is staying focus and getting out of your comfort zone

So because medicine is tedious and involving, no one should study medicine. Is that what you're trying to say?

Tbh I am woman and i think that will make it easier for me to get a job. I want to be in a feild that is male dominated so i stand out. I was a math teacher and teaching is too female dominated. It is too hard to stand out

If anyone had the mindset of what you were talking about then they shouldn’t be applying to any job. It just sounded like you were talking about lazy get rich quick people & if you know anything about tech then you definitely know that it’s not gonna be quick but it’s definitely do able, I’ve met so many people that’s tried it out of curiosity & now work for places like JP Morgan working remotely. It’s definitely doable and you should definitely encourage people to try & change their life. But if your lazy & expect everything to come your way then your not gonna survive this thing called life we all endure

All ima say is I started doing it because I seen the $$ and I’m still in it for the $$ and I didn’t know anything and till this day I don’t regret anything besides trying to learn 12 languages at once lol but that was my fault

What direction in tech should i go down then? I like products more than the back end of thing's i can tell you about every spec down to the tea of a monitor, smartphone , headphone tv etc . I used to work at best buy so i loved that type of environment i haven't been able to find something similar to where i can talk and explain/show people technology. What would be a job in the tech space best for me that pays well as in $65,000 a year?

3:15 with comparison to learning mandarin i 3 months and then going to China, you actually proved the opposite. Which do you think is more effective: learning the basics for 3 months then going to China and taking a low paid job while improving your mandarin, or going to college for 4 year mandarin study program?

The problem with software engineering is poor management, not coding. The industry is built on unrealistic schedules, poor planning, and shaky quality standards. The means programmers are rewarded for shoveling crap code quickly. Then, the worst most broken projects get all the resources.

BTW, I'm from "that" Croatia 🙂 and I'm dealing with coding since mid-school. It is now 35+y, and I still like it. After more than 20+ prog languages and frameworks, etc. I can say – if you like it, it is great. But it applies to each job

love software engineering. I started as a hacker then went to school. I tell people you don't do it for the money because you will burn out. You have to have a passion for it because you WILL NEVER STOP LEARNING. HELL, I AM CURRENTLY READING 4 BOOKS AT THE SAME TIME!!! It's like im still in college. And when you become a master of coding, you begin coding in your sleep when you are working on complex algorithms for new features or defects.

“If you don’t have good mental health, everything else in your life is going to suffer.” You’re on point with that one. I’m currently rewatching The Sopranos and that’s pretty much what the entire show is about LOL. I know I want a job in Tech that isn’t just coding all day. Thanks for reminding me those jobs are still out there.

It doesn't worth the hassle anymore, considering the current pay scales. The situation in USA seems good but in Europe, salaries is a joke

This is mainly every career you choose. You can’t just stop and think you’re good. Even in the army you need to study the AR books and all kinds of weapons tactics and a load of crap to progress to SGT and so on. Every career, you need to learn and be up to date with what’s going on. So it’s not about whether it’s hard because sitting at home studying your career and getting more money is more worth it than going out in the field being yelled at while you sleep in the mud. So I understand your point but that’s just a career thing lol, not to mention, you’re not working all damn day, it’s just when you have clients.

What is Roblox? ROBLOX is an online virtual playground and workshop, where kids of all ages can safely interact, create, have fun, and learn. It’s unique in that practically everything on ROBLOX is designed and constructed by members of the community. ROBLOX is designed for 13 to 18 year olds, but it is open to people of all ages. Each player starts by choosing an avatar and giving it an identity. They can then explore ROBLOX — interacting with others by chatting, playing games, or collaborating on creative projects. Each player is also given their own piece of undeveloped real estate along with a virtual toolbox with which to design and build anything — be it a navigable skyscraper, a working helicopter, a giant pinball machine, a multiplayer “Capture the Flag” game or some other, yet-to-be-dreamed-up creation. There is no cost for this first plot of virtual land. By participating and by building cool stuff, ROBLOX members can earn specialty badges as well as ROBLOX dollars (“Robux”). In turn, they can shop the online catalog to purchase avatar clothing and accessories as well as premium building materials, interactive components, and working mechanisms.
