The best Prime Day deals you can get on some of our home office go-tos

The best Prime Day deals you can get on some of our home office go-tos

One of the favorite series on this site — at least, as far as many of our staff are concerned — is “What’s on your desk?” where we look at the home workspace of some of the people here at The Verge. (For one thing, it’s reassuring to know that most of us share the same clutter syndrome, and that’s after cleaning the space up for the photos!)

We checked to see if any of the interesting stuff we have found in the home office setups of our staff — office chairs, string lights, drawing tablets, etc. — was on sale during this fall’s Amazon Prime Day event, and we came up with these.

I just had to look up the name on Amazon: it’s the “HON Office Chair Black | Ignition 2.0 | Ergonomic | Adjustable Tilt, Swivel Wheels, Comfortable for Long Hours,” which should tell you basically everything you need to know about how good and fancy it is. I bought it in 2021 for $332, after a huge amount of research because I just couldn’t splash out on a properly high-end desk chair. I’ve had back problems forever, and this one has actually served me quite well — it’s starting to tatter a bit, and one of the arms just split open a few weeks ago, but I sit in this thing for too many hours a week, and I’m living to tell the tale.

I have an Amazon Echo Dot smart speaker. We have several around the flat to control various smart home settings, but having one in my office also keeps me alerted to any deliveries. I even use it as a speaker output for my PC when I can’t be bothered to wear headphones.

I’ve got a Logitech MX Vertical ergonomic mouse. I’ve been a vertical mouse evangelist for years, and of all the ones I’ve tried, I like this one best. It’s not overly complicated, and it dramatically reduced my wrist pain.

I’ve also got the Insta360 Link webcam because I was tired of looking like a blurry potato on calls. This one is neat because it tracks your position, though sometimes it doesn’t always work the way it’s supposed to and my coworkers get to look at a close-up of my forehead.

I almost always have either Apple’s AirPods Pro or Max headphones on throughout the day, either to take calls or listen to music.

Update, October 9th: Adjusted prices and added new deals, including those for the AirPods Max.

Apple TV Plus is coming to Prime Video

Apple TV Plus is coming to Prime Video

Amazon is adding Apple TV Plus to Prime Video, a move that could help bolster the iPhone maker’s languishing streaming service. Apple TV Plus will be available on Prime Video in the US later this month as a $9.99 monthly add-on — the same you’d otherwise pay directly to Apple. The difference now is that Apple TV Plus is being promoted directly to Amazon’s massive video subscriber base.

“What we offer channel partners is hundreds of millions of subscribers around the world,” said Prime Video head Mike Hopkins at Bloomberg’s Screentime conference. “We see a lot more engagement, we’re able to get subscribers for those businesses at a really attractive rate.” Amazon takes a cut of the revenue from streaming subscriptions purchased on its video platform, but the specific terms have not been disclosed.

While Apple TV Plus has been praised for its roster of shows like Severance, Ted Lasso, and Foundation, the service has struggled to gain ground against Prime Video, Netflix, Max, Disney Plus, and Hulu — currently the five most subscribed streaming platforms in the US, respectively. Paramount Plus overtook the service in market share last quarter according to the JustWatch streaming guide, and market research firm Antenna reports that Apple TV Plus has some of the highest subscription cancellation rates among streaming providers.

Having Apple TV Plus available within Prime Video isn’t quite the same as bundled deals like Comcast’s all-in-one Netflix, Peacock, and Apple TV Plus offerings, but the goal is the same — to attract more customers and reduce cancellation rates as audiences grow weary of managing an ever-increasing number of subscriptions and apps.

For Amazon, Apple TV Plus joins over 100 streaming service add-ons already available through Prime Video Channels. It’s all part of the company’s plan to become a global “first-stop entertainment hub” according to Hopkins, a goal that Apple once had for Apple TV.

Circle to Search is expanding to three more Android phones

Circle to Search is expanding to three more Android phones

One of the best new features to arrive on Android devices in recent years is now available on three more phones. Circle to Search is an innovative tool that makes searching more enjoyable and engaging. Now, the Honor Magic V3, Honor 200, and Honor 200 Pro will soon have the Circle to Search feature.

You can easily find more information about anything on the screen by circling it with your finger using Circle to Search. This could be an object in a photo or a word in an article. Circle to Search instantly identifies what you circled and provides relevant search results. It’s a quick and intuitive way to satisfy your curiosity without disrupting your routine.

The Honor Magic V3 will be the first to get Circle to Search, with the feature arriving today, October 10. The Honor Magic 200 and 200 Pro will get it “a little later on.”

The Honor Magic V3 has been well-received as one of the best folding phones to arrive in 2024. Designed to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold, the handset is only 9.2mm thick when folded shut, which is unheard of for this type of phone.

The Honor 200 is a stylish mid-ange smartphone released earlier this spring. Its sleek design and impressive camera capabilities make it a strong contender for those seeking a balance of aesthetics and functionality.

And then there’s the Honor 200 Pro, the third handset to gain Circle to Search compatibility. This premium phone builds on the regular Honor 200 and offers several upgrades, including many in the camera department. It features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor.

Circle to Search was first introduced in January. At the time, it was exclusive to the Samsung Galaxy S24 and Google Pixel 8 series. Soon, however, it arrived on more Galaxy and Pixel phones and began making its way to tablets such as the Galaxy Tab S9 series.

Honor is a Chinese company that primarily produces smartphones. It also produces laptops, tablets, wearables, and routers.

Vivo X200 Pro series unboxing, benchmark, new videos & more

A ton of new VIvo X200 Pro series information appeared online, including a benchmark, teaser videos, an official unboxing, and so on. The focus is on the Vivo X200 Pro and Vivo X200 Pro Mini here, by the way. So let’s take it one step at a time.

The Vivo X200 Pro series videos surface, along with benchmark, an unboxing & more

First and foremost, Vivo confirmed that the Vivo X200 series will be fueled by the all-new MediaTek Dimensity 9400 processor. That chip was announced very recently, and it’s the most powerful processor from MediaTek to date.

Two new official videos have appeared. The first one is showing us the unboxing of the Vivo X200 Pro. In this video, which is embedded below, you can see both colors of the Vivo X200 Pro, blue and white.

One of the videos gives us a good look at Vivo’s design language

The second video is more design-focused. It also gives us a good look at the devices in different colors options. The entire Vivo X200 series will have flat sides, along with a micro-curved display and backplate. They’ll also include a camera oreo on the back. The second video is shown below.

The Vivo X200 Pro also got benchmarked by Geekbench. That listing revealed that the device will ship with Android 15, and that goes for the other two models too. Vivo’s Funtouch OS 15 will run on top of it.

The phone managed to score 2,755 points in the single-core test, and 8,519 points in the multi-core test. This model has 16GB of RAM, and the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 fuels it, of course.

A bunch of pictures appeared too

To top it all off, some additional images appeared too. You’ll find two galleries below. In the first gallery, all three phones are shown off, in several colors. The second gallery contains only real-life images of the Vivo X200 Pro Mini… in all of its colors.

All three Vivo X200 series smartphones will become official on October 14, by the way. That much has been confirmed by the company. They’re coming to China first, but we’re expecting a global launch to follow.
