Senators are expected to grill Kennedy on his past skepticism about vaccines and whether those views will be imparted to the Department of Health and Human Services.
If Kennedy makes it out of committee, he is viewed as someone who will have a close Senate confirmation vote, with centrist Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Susan Collins (R-ME) considered cold on Kennedy. Without their votes, only two more Republicans would have to say “no” for Kennedy to be denied.
