   When the wreckage is at the bottom the white hull section there it says ocean gate. Can someone explain what's the black thin ratchet strap is doing holding it together?? Anyone else spotted this??

    When they saw the aft section broken off, would that have told them the vehicle was lost, or was there still hope that the pressurised part was still intact?

    I noticed there where computor screens screwed directly to the inside of the hull….I've often wondered if that compromised the hulls structural integrity.

    0:50 That looks more like a Chimaera, a deep sea fish. They’re white and beautiful, if also creepy looking. They’re also called Ghost Sharks, even though they’re only related to sharks and aren’t really true sharks. Like shark cousins.

    Later in the footage by one of the end caps, one is seen wafting into view on the right-hand side. I think it’s the same one, since life at hose depths is sparse.

    Yes the bonding zones on the metallic components should ideally be acid etched or carefully abraded and de-greased.
    Covered and protected before the bonding operation.

    The carbon bonding surfaces should be abraded to a particular roughness and also de-greased with a high flash solvent such as acetone.

    There are also chemical bonding kits available to test the surfaces to be joined to ensure 100% no contamination is present.

    Thorough mixing of the adhesive and chemical hardener is of course critical. As is the ambient humidity and temperature.

    The application should be generously applied and a fillet should be left along the edge of the titanium ring which can dramatically increase the integrity of the bond.

    I think the human remains of, at least Stockton Rush, are in the aft dome, as he piloted and sat next to it. His remains would have been obviously completely crushed and turned into a ragdoll as the ocean released it of all oxygen, but still… I don’t think anybody’s going to convince me otherwise.

    4:51 I was a ROV pilot for quite a few years. The 2 green lasers you see are coming from one of their cameras. They are parallel beams at a distance of 10cm. So they are used as scale reference for measurements. The more you know.

    I worked in an auto factory, and quality control for bonding and coatings was much stricter there than at Oceangate. The owner of Oceangate must have been both an arrogant sociopath and suicidal.
