The next limited edition DualSense controller will be inspired by Fortnite. Revealed as part of last night’s State of Play livestream, the DualSense Wireless Controller – Fortnite Limited Edition will be available for pre-order in under a fortnight.
It’s a striking blue color, almost indistinguishable from the existing Starlight Blue edition, that has been decorated with a series of graffiti-inspired decals. Some of the biggest include a graffiti-style Fortnitelogo, accompanied by the text “Where we droppin’?” on the controller’s touchpad.
You can also see two small character illustrations based on popular Fortnite skins. One shows the anthropomorphic guppy Fishstick while the other is of the humanoid banana Peely. Some other visible elements include “GG” text and a small doodle of a victory crown.
It’s a decent limited edition, all things considered, though doesn’t quite seem on the same level as something like the Astro Bot Limited Edition DualSense, which smartly integrates elements of the titular character into almost every aspect of its design.

The controller will be available in strictly limited quantities and will cost $84.99 / £74.99, a fair chunk higher than the $79.99 / £64.99 price of a standard DualSense following the controller’s recent price rise. It will be up for pre-order on October 3 via both PS Direct and select retailers.
I wouldn’t be surprised if stock of this limited edition is particularly hard to come by given the huge popularity of Fortnite. Make sure that you bookmark any relevant retailers for your region and get in there quickly on pre-order day. Also be sure to visit our detailed breakdown on where to pre-order the Limited Edition Fortnite Dualsense for more tips and a list of potential stores.
PS5 Pro pre-orders will go live this week, so be careful to keep an eye on those too if you’re eager to secure a PS5 Pro.

Right now, we’re still figuring out the true potential of AI technology. We hear about its potential for both good and bad, but we’re still at the very beginning of this AI age. Well, it looks like there’s now AI-written malware being passed around, and this is a very scary thing to think about.
This was something we feared from the first time we read what ChatGPT could do when it first hit the public. When it was first making the news, one of its most notable capabilities was the ability to actually write code. So, a person who doesn’t know how to code could just generate what they want. It could be helpful for entry-level programmers, but it also means that it’s easier for malicious actors to craft malware.
We now have AI-written malware to worry about
This isn’t to raise the alarm bells, as it’s not a widespread issue. However, we’re wondering if it’s an indication of what’s to come. Researchers at HP’s Arctic Wolf have discovered a malware with some clues pointing to it being written by AI. Right now, there’s no tool on the market that we know of that can identify if code was written by AI. So, the only way that people can tell is by looking into the code and looking for tells.
HP discovered a malware that’s been affecting French-speaking people, and this one might have been written with the help of AI. Principal Threat Researcher in the HP Security Lab Patrick Schläpfer stated that “the structure of the scripts, comments explaining each line of code, and the choice of native language function names and variables are strong indications that the threat actor used GenAI to create the malware“. This isn’t to say that it was generated with AI, but there are some damning bits of evidence. “The attack infects users with the freely available AsyncRAT malware, an easy-to-obtain infostealer which can record victim’s screens and keystrokes. The activity shows how GenAI is lowering the bar for cybercriminals to infect endpoints.”

This could be a major issue
It should come as no surprise that this spells trouble for countless people. This only makes it easier for would-be threat actors to develop malware to steal data or cause some real damage. It’s something that we’re going to have to keep an eye on.

Since 2022, Amazon has held a second Prime Day of sorts in October and that sale event is coming back this year, too. Prime Big Deal Days returns on October 8 and 9, but we’re already starting to see some decent deals pop up across Amazon’s site. As per usual, most of the deals we expected to see on October Prime Day will be exclusively for Prime members — and some of the early Prime Day deals we’re seeing now have followed suit.
If you don’t have a Prime membership, don’t fret too much — there are always a few discounts available for all shoppers. However, if you pay the $139 annual fee for Prime, now’s the time to put it to even better use. These are the best early Prime Day deals we’ve found ahead of Prime Big Deal Days. We’ll be updating this post regularly in the lead-up to October Prime Day, so check back for the latest deals.
Prime Day deals on Apple gear
In addition to discounts on iPads and Apple Watches, you can save a bit on the new AirPods 4 right now. AirTags have a slight discount as well, both in single and multi-packs.
Prime Day deals on Amazon devices
It’s a safe bet that we’ll see even more Amazon gear discounted on October Prime Day, but for now, you can snag a Fire tablet on sale, as well as Ring and Blink security cameras for much cheaper than usual.

Prime Day deals on tech
Early Prime Day deals on tech include discounts on robot vacuums, webcams, smart plugs and more. There are also wireless earbuds and smartphones that you can grab for cheap, along with storage gear and power banks.
Google Pixel Buds A-Series for $64 ($35 off): This is one of the best prices we’ve seen on Google’s budget-friendly wireless earbuds, which we praised for their solid sound quality, deep Google Assistant integration and small, comfortable design.
Logitech Brio 500 Full HD Webcam for $93 ($37 off): Our top pick for the best webcam you can buy right now is $37 off, a decent discount even if it’s not a record-low sale. If you spend a lot of your day on video calls, this will be a solid upgrade to your computer’s built-in cam. It has a wide field of view, auto-light correction and shoots 1080p video.
Samsung T7 Shield (4TB) for $280 ($220 off): If you’re looking for a high-capacity portable SSD that can take a beating, this deal is the best price we’ve seen on the 4TB T7 Shield since June.
Kasa Smart Plug EP25 (4-pack) for $34 ($16 off): These are our top pick in our guide to the best smart plugs available right now thanks to their compatibility across all four of the main smart home ecosystems, their easy setup process and reliable connection.
Streaming subscription deals
While these discounts aren’t technically October Prime day tech deals, we’d be remiss not to mention them. While sales on streaming services are becoming more common, there isn’t as much rhyme or reason to them as there is to, say, Amazon’s Prime Day sale cycle. That said, if you see a discount on a service you’ve been meaning to try, it’s worthwhile to jump on it.

Apple Magic Mouse (black) for $85 ($15 off): The white version of Apple’s popular accessory is still cheaper at $68, but the black colorway rarely goes on sale. Both mice pair quickly and are relatively light with responsive touch gestures.
Apple Pencil (1st gen) for $69 ($30 off): If you have a 10th-gen iPad or older, this is the stylus to get. We’ve seen this discount for a couple of weeks now, but it’s still $10 below the average sale price. It’s also discounted at Walmart.
Beats Fit Pro earbuds for $159 ($41 off): Our overall favorite pair of earbuds for running are on sale for $41 off. They’ve hit this price point often over the past few months, but it’s a decent discount on buds we found to be comfortable with a secure fit and great audio quality.
iRobot Roomba Vac robot vacuum for $170 ($80 off): This affordable robo-vac is only $10 more than it was during July Prime Day right now, making it an even better option if you want a robot vacuum without spending a ton.
8BitDo Ultimate C wired gaming controller for $15 ($5 off): Now at $1 cheaper than it was during Prime Day in July, this 8BitDo accessory is an even better option for PC gamers or folks looking for a more comfortable Steam Deck controller.

Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max for $40 ($20 off): An often recurring sale, this discount is only $5 more than the record low. In addition to streaming shows, we like it as a retro gaming emulator and it even lets you play current games through XBox Game Pass cloud gaming.
Cosori 9-in-1 air frier for $90 ($30 off): This newer air fry from Cosori has nine preset cooking modes and a six-quart capacity that makes it just the right size to cook a good amount of food without taking up too much space on most countertops.
Quick rundown of the parts and cost associated with upgrading my home internet. I dabbed into UniFi stuff a little with the USG and some access points but the house really needed to have a nice rack so I could properly terminate all of the ethernet cables. .

The Prince of Wales has issued an urgent call to end environmental destruction and to “make peace with nature”.
“We are living at odds with the natural world – and it is buckling under the pressure of our actions,” he said, in a video message played at a Campaign for Nature event at the General Assembly of the United Nations, in New York.
Prince William said climate change and the prospect of a million species facing extinction represented the most pressing “existential threat”.

His speech followed the announcement of the finalists for the fourth year of the prince’s Earthshot awards for international ideas to improve sustainability.
“If we are to keep this planet liveable for our children and grandchildren, we must act urgently,” the prince said, in a speech that had echoes of the eco-campaigning of his father, King Charles III.
“We can and must change our relationship with the natural world.”
Such a reset in the relationship would mean economic changes, “realigning financial flows from destruction to regeneration”.

“It means change,” the prince said, calling on international leaders “to halt the unsustainable production and consumption of natural resources”.
“We must act to save our rivers, oceans, savannas, mangroves and forests, as well as the communities that protect and live alongside them,” he said.
The 15 finalists for this year’s Earthshot awards were also announced in New York, recognising innovative ways of protecting the environment, drawn from 2,500 nominations, including:
a project to reduce waste and cut air pollution in Ghana
building a social enterprise around farming seaweed in the Philippines
solar-powered refrigeration in Kenya
earthquake-resilient bricks in Nepal
a scheme in Kazakhstan to protect a type of antelope on the brink of extinction
a project in Scotlant to feed fish using a by-product from distilling whisky
The five winners, to be revealed at an event in Cape Town, South Africa, in November, will receive £1m each.
Meanwhile, the Princess of Wales is continuing her return to work, after the end of her chemotherapy.
