Rangers Ready to Accept Late January Offer for Nedim Bajrami
Rangers are prepared to listen to offers for attacker Nedim Bajrami before the end of the January transfer window, reports say.
The 26-year-old returned from injury at the weekend against Dundee but has already missed 11 league games this season and is no longer in Danny Rohl’s plans.
Bajrami, according to Football Insider, is one of the fringe players who could yet leave before the February 2 deadline, and Rangers are now welcoming bids for their Albanian forward.
It is said that with Rangers already adding three new bodies this window, they have left the door for someone like Bajrami to leave.
January business changes Rangers plans
Wolfsburg’s Andreas Skov Olsen’s loan arrival has given Rohl cover in his squad and depleting returns for Bajrami make him one of the prime candidates to be cashed in on.
Bajrami, who joined from Sassuolo in the summer of 2024 for a fee worth £3.4m, has only scored twice this season and just one of those came in the Scottish Premiership. His minutes have dried up across competitions due to form and fitness as well.
The 41-cap international has not played a single game in a dismal Europa League campaign and failed to register a single assist in his 15 appearances.
Rangers, it is written, have been considering his future since as early as November after a disappointing first 18 months at the club.
Bajrami provided five goals and five assists in his first season but was still far from integral as he started 15 of 28 league games, bagging in two of those.
Rohl needs players he can trust
With Rangers right back in the hunt for the title, Rohl cannot afford any passengers between now and May. If he does not trust or rate Bajrami to play more then there is little point in having him around.
The Gers have strengthened this month, seemingly moving away from Bajrami and he hasn’t really been missed. Both Russell Martin and Rohl offered him minimal game time, so there isn’t loads that will be missed.
Although they will need more goals from the attack if things are to to continue on the up, Bajrami was not one of those contributing. Rohl will hope that the talent of Mikey Moore or addition of Olsen can add the impetus to fire them on.
Key period ahead
After making it eight wins in a row on Sunday, Rangers travel to Porto on Thursday for their last Europa League group phase tie. It is then back to domestic action as they visit Hibs.
Rangers have six matches in February and know it could define just how successful the season goes on to be.
