As the clip rolled, their guests did a countdown, and pink smoke ultimately whisked into the sky, signaling that they’re awaiting the arrival of a baby girl.

More On Sukihana & Her Boyfriend Snoop’s Unborn Baby’s Gender At Recent Reveal

As The Shade Room previously reported, Sukihana revealed that she was expecting her fourth child earlier this month. At the time, PEOPLE exclusively shared the news alongside shots of the rappers and her baby bump.

Afterward, social media users speculated that Suki may have been expecting her latest bundle with Dr. Umar Johnson. This, reportedly after the pair went viral for looking cozy during a 2024 link-up. However, he shut down the rumors, stating that she’s simply a “friend,” although he wouldn’t be opposed to welcoming a child with her due to her mindset and personality.

Bold and Beautiful 2-Week Spoilers Mar 30-Apr 10: Deacon’s Secret Exposed & Ivy Pushes Hard!

Published

on

Bold and the Beautiful 2-week spoilers for March 30 – April 10, 2026 expect Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) ditching and Ivy Forrester (Ashleigh Brewer) escalating.

Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers Monday, March 30th: Sheila Busts Through the Door

Monday, March 30th, we’ve got Taylor Hayes (Rebecca Budig) and Deacon frantic. They’re trying to get out of a scary situation after Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) busts through her door with a butcher knife. It looks like Sheila isn’t going to see Deacon. Looks like he’s able to get out of sight and then he’s going to ditch and bail on Taylor completely to save both their necks.

So Sheila is wielding a knife and Taylor is begging, “Don’t do this. Don’t kill me, please.” And fortunately, there’s a misread. She’s not there—Sheila’s not there to kill Taylor. And Sheila misinterprets things. So, it looks like she thinks that Taylor was self-pleasuring. Because Sheila asks, “Is he still here?” Thinking that she had a guy over.

B&B Spoilers: Deacon’s in the Bushes

Taylor insists she’s alone, but she’s naked in the sheets, obviously all hot and bothered and sweaty. And Sheila then assumes that Taylor was, you know, doing stuff to herself. And Sheila actually makes some recommendations how to make it better. She’s telling Taylor to try some audiobooks as inspiration for her special lady alone time. So cringe.

Meanwhile, Deacon’s down in the shrubs outside the house. Looks like he’s at least half naked, maybe more, maybe all naked. So, we’ll see if he got his clothes, phone, and car keys. If Taylor was able to throw those out the window, or if he’s going to have to do a walk of shame with nothing.

Bold Spoilers: Tuesday, March 31st: Sheila Begins to Get Suspicious

Tuesday, March 31st, Sheila begins to get suspicious. So, if Deacon comes home in different clothes, you know, maybe without his car, that’s going to be problematic because he told Sheila he was out to dinner with Hope Logan (Annika Noelle). But I’m sure Sheila is going to casually ask about his evening, which is normal behavior, and Deacon may scramble and can’t give normal answers because he wasn’t there and is in a panic.

Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) flies into a full-blown rage on Tuesday when she discovers what happened. So, Taylor may admit to Steffy that she had Deacon over and that Sheila nearly caught them. Hopefully, Taylor comes clean spontaneously and not because Steffy and Finn (Tanner Novlan) come home early and find Sheila in their house with a knife acting like a stalker. Either way, Steffy’s going to lose her whole entire mind.

This week, we have Hope worried. She heads back over to the Logan estate to see his sister Hope to ask her if she thinks that Sheila found out about Taylor and Deacon. Looks like Hope is worried that his dad Deacon and new girlfriend Taylor are in danger from his psycho stepmom Sheila. And I think Hope is probably also going to be concerned and hoping that they were able to cover.

Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers: Wednesday, April 1st: Sheila Puts Things Together

Wednesday, April 1st, Sheila is starting to put things together. She begins to figure things out. She may realize that Deacon’s alibi doesn’t add up about Hope. And I’m very curious to see if Sheila calls Hope to ask her questions to see if her answers align with Deacon’s answers.

That’s how you check an alibi. Plus, there was the way Taylor was moaning, the fact that she was in bed looking like there was a man there. Deacon may return in spare clothes from his gym bag or something like that. And you know, Sheila’s in love, but she’s not dumb.

And Steffy is increasingly afraid that Taylor is in danger. Steffy, Taylor, and Deacon may all realize Sheila is about to figure out what’s been going on under her nose and behind her back.

B&B Spoilers Thursday, April 2nd: Steffy Flips Out on Deacon

Thursday, April 2nd, Electra Forrester (Laneya Grace) learns something about her aunt Ivy. And I wonder if Daphne Rose (Murielle Hilaire) drops a hint that maybe Ivy doesn’t have Electra’s best interest in mind and has an agenda.

Daphne needs to blab the truth even though her hubby Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor) told her to stay out of the Electra and Will Spencer (Crew Morrow) mess.

Plus, we’re going to see Steffy flipping out on Deacon. I wonder if Steffy’s going to call Deacon over to her house or confront him in a corner or the back alley at Il Giardino. I’m sure Steffy is going to tell Deacon that he is going to get her mom Taylor killed because he can’t keep it zipped.

You know, raging about Sheila being at her house with a knife and if Deacon had been caught there, you know, Sheila probably would have done some psycho stabby stuff and killed Steffy’s mom.

Bold and the Beautiful: Brooke Prods RJ

This week, RJ Forrester (Joshua Hoffman) and Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) are talking in the showroom and she’s grilling RJ about his love life. If you remember before, Brooke told RJ to stay away from Electra because she was with Will, but everybody knows everybody’s business at Forrester. So, she knows Electra and Will split up.

So, looks like Brooke is urging RJ to open up about his love life and he’s gushing about Electra and Brooke is all in on this and she says that Electra is the woman that RJ deserves. I feel like those are very accurate words, but not in the way that Brooke means them.

Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers: Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) - Ivy Forrester (Ashleigh Brewer)
Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers: Deacon Sharpe – Ivy Forrester

Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers Friday, April 3rd: The Old Sheila Is Back

Friday, April 3rd, we’ve got Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) and Brooke getting an eyeful of something they are not supposed to. Could be Taylor and Deacon somewhere looking close, but it also could be Electra and RJ making out or Ivy sneaking and manipulating and spying as usual.

Plus, the old Sheila is back. Looks like by now she has figured out that Deacon’s been pursuing Taylor and that they are involved with each other and Sheila may go after Taylor or Deacon or both.

Meanwhile, Ivy continues to play matchmaker with Electra and RJ. Seems to be working, but honestly, Ivy needs to be outed. She’s going to tell Electra that it’s time to move on with her life with someone wonderful, as she says, like RJ. The way she says his name sounds like she wants him for herself on Bold and Beautiful.

So, he kisses Electra again, this time in the design office. And somebody may see it. I mean, both of them are single, but if Will sees it or Dylan (Sydney Bullock), I think that she would probably tell Will.

Week Two on B&B: April 6th-10th Spoilers

The week of April 6th through the 10th, we’ve got Sheila Carter out of control. She may be in full villainess mode now that she knows her husband Deacon has been cheating with Taylor, who, you know, in Sheila’s mind was her best friend, even though it wasn’t that way in Taylor’s mind. And I don’t think there’s any coming back from this. We’ll see if Sheila hurts somebody physically.

Taylor obviously fears for her life once she knows that Sheila knows. And the thing is, Deacon’s wife is going to be hurt. And I do wonder if things take a turn and Sheila turns pathetic instead of violent. You know, maybe she actually has evolved. We will find out this week.

Deacon tries to reason with Sheila and maybe he’ll get her to see if she goes crazy and hurts somebody like Taylor, then Sheila is going to spend the rest of her life in jail and Deacon may spend the rest of his life hating Sheila.

Bold and Beautiful Spoilers: Steffy Terrified & Daphne Ready to Blab

Steffy continues to be terrified of losing her mom to Sheila again because it’s happened in the past. Remember, she shot her and she was presumed dead for years.

Daphne really considers telling Electra everything. Not only because she deserves to know, but Ivy doesn’t deserve to get away with her manipulation. She should not win.

Meanwhile, Will gets in deeper with Dylan. So, with RJ and Electra flaunting their new relationship at work, I think Will is going to be more hurt and he and Dylan may hit the sheets soon.

Plus, Hope may circle back around to Katie Logan (Heather Tom). She’s got these new designs that she showed to Hope that she really liked. So, obviously Hope really wants this opportunity to design for Logan.

And obviously, Katie is going to need another designer since Eric Forrester (John McCook) only promised one collection. You know, maybe Katie can go from old school to cutting edge with new young up-and-comer like Hope.

And Brooke and Katie’s war is far from done. Ridge and Brooke are going to be plotting and of course, Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) is going to push forward.

Days of our Lives 2-Week Spoilers Mar 30-Apr 10: Johnny Desperate & Stephanie Confesses!

Published

on

Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) - Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein)

Days of Our Lives 2-week spoilers for March 30 – April 10, 2026 present Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) begging and Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein) torn.

Monday, March 30th: Rachel Throws Sophia Under the Bus

On Monday, March 30th, Johnny and Chanel Dupree DiMera (Raven Bowens) head home after that stressful hearing where Sophia Choi (Madelyn Kientz) tried to make sure they couldn’t take Trey and EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) saved the day. I wonder if Johnny and Chanel are going to head straight home or do the party and then head home. And I wonder if EJ is going to wrangle an invite since he saved the day and the adoption deal.

Belle Brady (Martha Madison) encourages sad Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) that she was in the right and to just forget what Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) said about her and Rachel Black (Lorelei Olivia Mote) and her not getting to see her. And I wonder if Marlena may tell Belle what they think Rachel did with Holly Jonas’s (Ashley Puzemis) supplements.

Days of our Lives Spoilers: Rachel Grilled

Meanwhile, Rachel is getting grilled by her dad, Brady Black (Eric Martsolf), who says he knows that Rachel put her psych meds in the bottle of pills for Holly. And of course, Rachel’s going to freak out, deny it. And throw Sophia under the bus with both hands, as she should.

Holly and Tate Black (Jamie Martin Mann) start to connect the dots on what happened after Brady tells Holly that Rachel said that Sophia is the one who gave her the pills to give to Holly, which makes a lot more sense because Rachel’s fine and she’s got all of her medication that she can show her dad.

Tuesday, March 31st: Kate Tricks Johnny

Tuesday, March 31st, Alex Kiriakis and Jeremy Horton (Michael Roark) face some taunts from rotten Owen Kent (Wes Ramsey). And I wonder if he’s going to tell Alex that Stephanie kissed him and was really into it. And he may tell Alex that Stephanie was holding hands with Jeremy. Just anything to cause chaos.

Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) duped her step grandson Johnny when she tricked him into publishing Bonnie Kiriakis’s (Judi Evans) knockoff of One Stormy Night. A copyright lawsuit could really do some damage to DiMera. But I wonder if Johnny’s going to realize he was set up by people that he thought he could trust. Unfortunately, those people are desperate.

Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier) confides in Gabi Hernandez (Cherie Jimenez). And I wonder if he’ll tell her that his mom, Kate, tricked Johnny with Bonnie’s book deal.

Days of our Lives Spoilers: Stephanie Confides in Chanel

Sophia’s mom, Amy Choi, begs Sophia to please stay home and out of trouble, but instead she wants to rub it in people’s faces that she’s out. She wants to see for herself in person what damage she did to Holly because she thinks that damage is ongoing. So this week, Sophia trots over to the Brady Pub and says hey to Tate and Holly who looks stunned to see her on the loose, especially since they should know by then what she did with the supplements.

We’re also going to have Aaron Green back this week for some scenes. Chanel listens as Stephanie confides in her. And I wonder if Chanel is going to learn about the trauma bond and Stephanie’s evolving thoughts about Jeremy.

Wednesday, April 1st: Kristen Tears into Sophia

Wednesday, April 1st, Kristen tears into Sophia. Of course, Kristen’s livid and looking for anybody to blame but herself for Rachel being sent back to Bayview. But to be fair, Sophia is a big part of why Rachel was sent back to Bayview. If not for Sophia’s actions, that have had everybody assuming that Rachel drugged Holly, then Marlena might not have told the judge she thinks Rachel needs back inpatient at Bayview. And Marlena’s testimony seemed to carry a lot of weight in the hearing.

Tate and Holly feel absolutely vindicated once they learn Sophia’s behind her drugging. I wonder if Holly may consider going to the cops, but Tate and Brady may not want that because Rachel would get dragged into it and she might wind up in juvie instead of Bayview.

Days of our Lives: EJ Takes Credit?

Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) updates EJ about Dimitri von Leuschner DiMera (Peter Porte). Of course, he’s suspected in Vivian Alamain’s (Louise Sorel) death. And I wonder if EJ is going to take credit for two birds with one stone offing Vivian to punish her for the DiMera kidnappings and effectively neutralizing Dimitri, who looks like the culprit. Honestly though, I doubt Vivian is dead. I also doubt Stefan DiMera’s dead.

Also this week, EJ shows Theo Carver (Cameron Johnson) that his mom, Lexie Carver (Renee Jones), is alive and Theo is stunned on Days of our Lives.

Xander Kiriakis Cook (Paul Telfer) has a hard time being around Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) right now. Xander still loves her and it’s really difficult for him that she’s moving on with Brady.

Thursday, April 2nd: Philip Asks Maggie for a Favor

On Thursday, April 2nd, Justin Kiriakis tries to get Bonnie to see the truth that her book was not just inspired by Stephanie’s, but lifted heavily from it. And I wonder if Justin will warn Bonnie that she committed copyright infringement. Now, I don’t think she did it on purpose, but she did it. So this week she asked Justin what he thinks about her book and he tells Bonnie that One Rainy Afternoon or yeah I think that’s what it’s called. One Rainy Afternoon reminds him a lot of Stephanie’s One Stormy Night but it looks like it’s too late because DiMera is committed. The books are printed and it’s about to get ugly.

Philip needs a favor from Maggie Kiriakis (Suzanne Rogers). So we have Philip telling Maggie that Bonnie screwed up in a big way and her mistake could save Titan. Philip tells Maggie they can’t afford the next loan payment and could lose the mansion, but damages from DiMera could bail them out, but that means putting Bonnie out to hang dry. So, we’ll see.

Days of our Lives Spoilers: Gabi Makes an Offer?

Also, Gabi and Theo talk business. And I wonder if Gabi makes Theo an offer to bring Gabi Chic back to DiMera for a hefty payout. You know, her guilt may have her wanting to bail out Philip and Titan. And since Theo is hardcore crushing on Gabi, he may do it just to have her working under him. And so Theo can see her every day.

Johnny wants EJ to do him another favor. And I’m sure he’d jump at the offer. And it may be about repping DiMera in the copyright infringement mess. Plus, even if Johnny wasn’t asking or even if he was begging, I mean, EJ has a personal motive to want to save DiMera from a huge messy lawsuit and a big payout to Titan.

Chanel questions Paulina Price (Jackée Harry) and I wonder if Chanel’s asking why Paulina has been so off-kilter lately. We’ll see if she comes clean on the Lexie thing because Paulina really needs somebody to talk to.

Friday, April 3rd: Stephanie Faces Off with Owen

Friday, April 3rd, Shawn-Douglas Brady (Brandon Beemer) turns down Belle’s offer to caretake him during his recovery and she is hurt. But looks like Shawn’s going to go stay with Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu) and from there sparks should fly for the two of them.

Steve Johnson apologizes to Jeremy and it is overdue. Jeremy saved Stephanie and Steve knows Jeremy really stepped up at great personal risk to save his daughter.

Stephanie faces off with Owen. So this week, Stephanie demands to see Owen alone and she closes the blinds on Steve and Alex so she can talk to her kidnapper in the interrogation room one-on-one. Jada cuffs Owen to a chair and leaves Stephanie to it.

Leo Stark’s (Greg Rikaart) writing reflects his broken heart. And Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) wants JJ Deveraux to get therapy for ongoing PTSD and comforts him when he’s really upset over failing to shoot somebody when he should have and his guilt over Shawn getting shot as a result.

Week Two: April 6th-10th Spoilers

The week of April 6th through the 10th, Theo’s voice and presence may be what finally wakes his mom Lexie up. So we could get an Easter miracle, a little resurrection action, which is, you know, kind of dodgy in a way just in terms of timing and religious strangeness.

Bonnie and DiMera Enterprises face that copyright infringement suit. We’ll see if anything can save Johnny from being called out for poor judgment.

Alex is bothered by Stephanie’s newfound closeness to Jeremy. Cat Greene (AnnaLynne McCord) and Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) continue to dig into the secret lab. Everybody’s dying to know who was in the person pod, but the truth is about to come out about Lexie.

We’re going to see a new Arianna Horton soon. And she’s going to find out that Liam Selejko (Hank Northrop) lied to her, which could be a deal breaker. Plus, Arianna and Holly should reconcile after the pill swap. Truth is out.

Gwen and Leo continue to spar. Dimitri isn’t gone for good. We should see more of him with Andrew Donovan dealing with the Vivian murder accusations.

Look for Shawn to settle in at Jada’s and them to get really comfortable. I don’t know if Theo is going to be jealous. I don’t think so. He may see it as a convenient time to cut bait and go chase Gabi.

Brady and Sarah get closer and Kristen continues to be unhinged.

HBO Max’s 4-Part Sci-Fi Epic Is One of the Best on Any Streaming Platform

Published

on

Andy Serkis putting his arm on James Franco's shoulder in Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Most science fiction franchises tend to try to reinvent themselves over the years, with mixed results. Some, like Star Wars, return with new installments that often spark divisive discourse. Others, like Blade Runner or Tron, have extremely lengthy gaps between sequels. One sci-fi franchise not only reinvented itself in the early 2010s but also delivered a truly epic scale that very few blockbusters have matched. This honor goes to the Planet of the Apes reboot series, which is available to stream on HBO Max.

Starting with Rise of the Planet of the Apes, the new films focus on the birth of the titular Planet of the Apes, especially how the apes evolve into the dominant species on the planet. It’s not the first time someone has tried to reboot the series; Tim Burton launched his own version of Planet of the Apes in 2001, and James Cameron was even approached to revive the series on film before he eventually made Titanic. The new Planet of the Apes succeeds because it takes the time to show how its world is constantly evolving, offering a sense of growth that other sci-fi franchises lack. It also doesn’t hurt that one of Hollywood’s best directors helped take the series to a new level.

The ‘Planet of the Apes’ Reboot Revamps a Major Element of the Original Series

In the original Planet of the Apes, humanity has devolved into a mute class of workers while the apes lord over them. This led to arguably one of the greatest twists in science fiction history, in which George Taylor (Charlton Heston) discovers that the “planet” he’s landed on is actually Earth, ravaged by nuclear war. Rise of the Planet of the Apes shifts from a nuclear threat to a viral one, as scientist Will Rodman (James Franco) creates a drug called ALZ-112 to reverse the effects of Alzheimer’s disease. While ALZ-112 increases the intelligence of the chimpanzee Caesar (Andy Serkis), it proves to be deadly to humans, triggering a global pandemic. Director Rupert Wyatt also said that future films would explore the conflict between man and ape:

“We’ve incorporated elements from Conquest of the Planet of the Apes, in terms of how the apes begin to revolt, but this is primarily a prequel to the 1968 film… Caesar is a revolutionary figure who will be talked about by his fellow apes for centuries… This is just the first step in the evolution of the apes, and there’s a lot more stories to tell after this. I imagine the next film will be about the all-out war between the apes and humans.”

True to Wyatt’s words, the next two films, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War for the Planet of the Apes, focused on how humanity and apes came to battle. It also brought a new director into the fold, as Matt Reeves stepped up to helm both sequels. Reeves brought a truly epic scale to the Planet of the Apes reboot, showcasing just how much the world changed in the wake of humanity’s decimation. Rain-soaked forests, snow-covered terrain, and a massive military fortress are given plenty of sweeping shots, with cinematographer Michael Seresin taking time to close in on both human and apes’ facial expressions — letting their eyes say much more than words could. Reeves’ vision led to critical and commercial success for both Apes sequels, and paved the way for his work on The Batman.

Can You Hum These Iconic Film Scores? It’s the Collider Movie Quiz!

A good score elevates a film’s emotional impact. A great score affects you long after the movie’s over. Here are a few examples of that excellence.

Thanks to Andy Serkis, the New ‘Planet of the Apes’ Blends Pathos with Blockbuster Thrills

There’s one person who helped make the Planet of the Apes reboot a bona fide success, and it’s Andy Serkis. Serkis delivers a career-best performance as Caesar, thanks to a blend of motion capture and a truly magnetic performance. Every time Caesar is on-screen, the camera gravitates toward him, showcasing his transformation from a mere ape to a leader to a messianic figure. Even in death, Caesar continues to cast a large shadow as Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes shows how apes have taken up his words, for good and ill. It’s also led the Planet of the Apes reboot to continue topping HBO Max’s global charts, showing that the new films have just as strong a hold on modern audiences as the original Planet of the Apes did on its audience.

The Planet of the Apes reboot proves that not every reboot of a popular franchise needs to rely on nostalgia or simply rehash the original story. It also showcases that there’s still room for sweeping epics in the sci-fi landscape, especially as Dune: Part Three gears up to hit theaters.

Ready or Not 2 Sets The New Gold Standard For Horror Sequels

Ready or Not 2 Sets The New Gold Standard For Horror Sequels

By Chris Snellgrove
| Published

Randy and his film nerd cohort in Scream 2 helped to instill a pretty basic idea in moviegoers: that sequels almost always suck. Of course, the second film in this iconic slasher franchise was no exception to its own rule.

Wes Craven packed plenty of charm and style into this ambitious sequel, but it still fell short of the titanic heights set by Scream (1996). In this way, the horror maestro helped cement the idea that most scary movie franchises are victims of their own success because nothing will ever top the original.

Deep down, that was how I felt when I first watched Ready or Not. From its singular premise to its likeable final girl to its svelte runtime, this was a nearly perfect movie for audiences who love to scream and laugh.

When I heard this breakout slasher was getting a belated sequel, I worried that a follow-up film would be a slipshod mess that did nothing but retroactively ruin the earlier movie’s reputation. Fortunately, I was wrong, and Ready or Not 2: Here I Come serves as a nearly perfect entry in the franchise, one that sets a new gold standard for horror sequels.

The Devil’s In The Details

The premise of Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is that the plucky bride (played by Samara Weaving), who narrowly survived a lethal game of hide and seek, is scooped up by a mysterious, Illuminati-type group. It turns out, all of their families had signed an elaborate pact with the devil ages ago, one that offered them control over the world. In exchange, the families follow Satan’s rules, which include requirements for human sacrifices.

The bride’s survival means these families must now compete for the top spot, and the first to kill her wins. But with the unexpected help of her sister (Kathryn Newton), she might just beat the odds yet again.

Ready Or Not 2 Is A Near Perfect Sequel

Why do I think Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is a nearly perfect follow-up to the earlier movie? It improves on everything from the original film without changing the essential formula.

In this sequel, we see the same bride in the same outfit competing in the same kind of competition, all while running from a similar set of wealthy psychopaths. In Ready or Not 2 everything is bigger: the bride now has a partner in the form of a heretofore unknown sister. The competition comes with higher stakes: namely, control of the world itself. Finally, there are more psychopaths than ever, led by Sarah Michelle Gellar’s ruthless character.

Buffy, The Final Girl Slayer

As you can tell from these names, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is filled with many horror icons, and it’s genuinely fun seeing genre veterans like Gellar get to play such unhinged characters. Elijah Wood (as much horror patron as performer) has a devilishly good time as Satan’s lawyer, and he steals multiple scenes with a wordless glance.

Speaking of stealing scenes, legendary horror director David Cronenberg makes the most of his limited screentime. Oh, and Kathryn Newton gives her best performance since Lisa Frankenstein, establishing the Abigail actor as a girl next door competitor for the title of Scream Queen.

Newton can’t yet wrest that title from Samara Weaving, however, who manages to inject her character with the same fierce vulnerability (and vulnerable ferocity) that made the first Ready or Not an instant classic. The sequel puts her character through absolute hell, and Weaving ensures we feel every jolt of the bride’s bloody, biting pain.

Weaving’s scenes with Newton channel electrical anger and warm empathy, perfectly embodying the sibling rivalry of sisters many miles out of their collective depth. She also becomes the genre’s most satisfying final girl in a jaw-dropping climax that gives the phrase “the devil’s in the details” a whole new meaning.

Bold, Bloody Fun

While Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is immensely satisfying as a sequel, it’s also surprisingly accessible to newcomers. I took a friend to the film who had not seen the original, but privately, we both worried that the follow-up film would be absolutely inscrutable to anyone who had not seen the earlier movie. Fortunately, we were both wrong, and he found the movie delightful despite typically only liking elevated horror. This underscores the movie’s killer word of mouth: it’s brutal and breezy enough to appeal to slasher fans while also offering enough witty dialogue and twisting plot points to appeal to those who want some meat with their blood.

Why are you still reading this? You should already have been halfway to the theater. Go check out Ready or Not 2: Here I Come to discover a nearly perfect horror sequel full of powerhouse performances, crazy kills, and memorable murders.

Go watch the movie to hear some hilarious dialogue, including more than a few one-liners that will live, rent-free, in your head. If nothing else, go see the movie for a sight that might unite all of us and finally heal a divided nation: Kathryn Newton. In a bloody tank top. With a sword.

Back To The Future Icon Dies At 94

Back To The Future Icon Dies At 94

By Jennifer Asencio
| Published

If you’ve ever watched a movie that has that familiar actor you recognize as the trusty supporting character from many other movies, you’re looking at a character actor; we typically identify them as “oh, that guy from ____!” One of the most classic such characters is Principal Strickland from the Back to the Future movies, best known for finding Marty McFly’s music so loud that he has to cover his ears.

James Tolkan, the character actor who brought that role to life, has died. He was 94.

How James Tolkan Got His Start

Tolkan started acting in 1960, but throughout the decade, his roles were sporadic as he tried to find his footing in the industry. The 1970s brought more roles, but it wasn’t until the 1980s that he really started to become established by his trademark baldness and distinctive facial features. He was featured in a number of cameo roles, starting with The Amityville Horror in 1979, in which he played the coroner.

Soon after followed the roles he is most iconic for: Wargames’ Wigan, Back to the Future’s Principal Strickland, and Top Gun’s Stinger. These were the most prominent of many appearances in films throughout the 1980s, establishing him as a recognizable face, “that guy,” even if few know his name. He was also in Masters of the Universe and Dick Tracy, as well as both of the Back to the Future sequels.

Life After Strickland Fame

Tolkan kept appearing in movies and television shows in the 1990s, but slowed his output in 2000, when he was already almost 70. He did make seven more movie appearances between 2000 and 2024, most notably a cameo as the pianist in the critically acclaimed Bone Tomahawk.

His wife, Parmelee, was a prop girl in a 1971 off-Broadway production in which he appeared. They’ve been married ever since that year, and she survives him. Not many marriages get to last that long, even outside of Hollywood, but especially within an industry where everyone’s private life is not-so-private.

James Tolkan in Bone Tomahawk

Tolkan was also a supporter of animal rescue. An obituary on the official Back to the Future website asks fans to make a donation to their favorite shelter or the Humane Society in his name. Known for playing hardasses, Tolkan was known as a kind and loving man off-screen.

James Tolkan’s name may not be well-known, but his face was, and his characters are embedded in cinema culture. That is its own form of immortality, as the movies he was in have brought joy to generations and will continue to for many more.
