Elsbeth’s Anna Camp Churns Butter as Trad Wife Accused of Murder

Published

on

Anna Camp isn’t just playing a trad wife — who churns butter — on Elsbeth but her character is also being accused of murder.

In Us Weekly‘s exclusive first look at the Thursday, May 7, episode of the hit CBS show, Camp, 43, can be seen churning butter while Elsbeth (Carrie Preston) grills her about a director’s recent death. Camp’s character distracts from her possible guilt by convincing Elsbeth to join in on her trad wife activities.

According to the official synopsis, the episode —directed by Pamela Adlon — follows a case in which “an ambitious filmmaker dies in a suspicious cleaning accident.” Elsbeth then “focuses on the subject of her final documentary: a ‘trad wife’ whose from-scratch lifestyle included a deadly ingredient.”

Elsbeth, which premiered in 2024, reintroduced the title character after she originally appeared on The Good Wife and The Good Fight. The first two seasons showed Elsbeth becoming a de facto detective who assists the NYPD investigating cases. Preston stars alongside Wendell Pierce and Carra Patterson.

While many TV shows have made household names out of their star players, occasionally showrunners have been able to corral some of Hollywood’s biggest names to drop in for a surprising cameo during a complete episode or a single scene. Perhaps one of the most polarizing cameos belonged to Ed Sheeran on HBO’s Game of […]

Season 2, however, ended with Patterson, who plays Kaya, departing the show as a series regular.

“It’s been in development since the beginning of season 2,” Preston exclusively told Us in May 2025. “We wanted to honor her and elevate her to detective. So it was very exciting when that happened for the character. Not as exciting for us though because we love Carra. I love Carra and I obviously love playing with her.”

Preston promised that wasn’t the last fans would see of Kaya, adding, “She’s still on the show — it’s just in a different capacity. It’s nice because it adds some conflict and it adds some stuff for Elsbeth to wrestle with. It’s going to deepen my character.”

During season 3, Elsbeth has been paired off with various cop characters — and detectives — before Kaya returned earlier this month.

“With Elsbeth having to deal with this person not being there who she really leans on, it’s a real testament to the writers that they did it in such a gradual and beautiful way,” Preston told Us. “It’s the good thing about Elsbeth, [she] is so positive and never met a stranger.”

The actress didn’t rule out potential “growing pains” as Elsbeth adjusts to “flying solo” in season 3, saying, “The writers have already started introducing other uniformed officers that Elsbeth really relies on to get onto the crime scene. The way our show is structured, it’s not the same detective with Elsbeth on every case.”

Preston continued, “So that always adds a little breath of fresh air as well by having different points of views and different people for her to either partner with or go head to head with in the pursuit of justice.”

More recently, Preston opened up about how the show was able to expand for its third season.

“It suddenly feels like, ‘Oh, right. The NYPD has lots of people and it’s not just this small group.’ It made the show feel in some ways bigger,” she told Us in February. “I wasn’t altogether sure how we were going to do that without it seeming like we were trying to replace Carra — and yet we did and we still get to have Carra back. It’s been the best of all worlds.”

Elsbeth airs on CBS Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET. New episodes stream the next day on Paramount+.

Britney Spears Pleads Guilty to Wet Reckless After DUI Arrest

Published

on

Britney Spears took a plea deal in her DUI case during her Monday, May 4, hearing, Us Weekly can confirm.

Spears, 44, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol — known as “wet reckless driving” — at the hearing, which her attorney attended on her behalf.

“Through her plea today, Britney has accepted responsibility for her conduct,” Spears’ attorney, Michael Goldstein, told Us in a statement. “She has taken significant steps to implement positive change which is clearly reflected in the Ventura County District Attorney’s decision to reduce the charge in this case and dismiss the DUI. Britney appreciates this discretion and is also grateful for the outpouring of support she has received.”

As part of her plea deal, Spears was sentenced to 12 months of probation and one day in jail, with credit for the time she spent in custody. She is also required to complete a DUI class and pay state-mandated fines and fees of $571.

Additionally, Spears must see a psychologist once a week and a psychiatrist twice a month.

Britney Spears is working on herself following her recent DUI arrest. Us Weekly understands that Spears, 44, has been sober since her DUI arrest, which occurred three weeks ago. The pop star is also attending AA meetings. Us Weekly has reached out to Spears’ rep for comment. Earlier this month, Spears was arrested in Ventura […]

Us previously confirmed that Spears was arrested on March 4 for driving under the influence near her home in California. She was booked at 3:02 a.m. the next morning and released the same day.

Spears was allegedly seen veering “in and out of lanes,” speeding and “swerving and driving with no tail light” in a black BMW convertible prior to her arrest, according to 911 audio obtained by Us.

“This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable,” Spears’ rep told Us in a statement after her release from jail. “Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.”

The pop star’s spokesperson added, “Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue, needed plan to set her up for success for well-being.”

Spears’ rep also noted that her sons, Preston, 20, and Jayden, 19 — whom she shares with ex-husband Kevin Federline — would be “spending time with her” after her release.

Britney Spears‘ loved ones want the pop star to get help following her arrest for driving under the influence. “I hope this is a wake-up call for her,” a family source exclusively tells Us Weekly. Spears, 44, was arrested near her home in Ventura County, California, on Wednesday, March 4, at 9:28 p.m., according to […]

One month later, Spears’ rep told Us that the Grammy winner had voluntarily checked into a treatment facility.

“Britney went to rehab after several conversations with both of her sons,” an insider exclusively told Us in April. “They expressed concern about her recent behavior and urged her to seek professional help, which has been long overdue, to get her back on track. All they’ve ever wanted for their mom is health and happiness, even during the years they were estranged. They hope she’ll take it seriously.”

A separate source said that Spears “went in to show she is taking it seriously” at the behest of her two children.

Spears’ choice to go in voluntarily and seek treatment was also due in part to her being “very scared about the possibility of jail time or some other form of serious repercussions,” the first insider told Us last month, noting she “recognized that getting ahead of things” would “help her case.”

(The pair are also parents of son Sean Preston, 20.) The montage featured several clips of […]

While Spears was seeking treatment, Us confirmed on Thursday, April 30, that she was charged with one count of “VC” or “vehicle code section 23152” better known as driving under the influence.

The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that Spears would be arraigned on Monday but her presence was “not required” as she was facing a misdemeanor charge.

“This DUI case will be handled according to our standard protocols. For defendants without a prior DUI history, a low blood alcohol level, and where there is no crash or injury, prosecutors typically offer what is known as a ‘wet reckless,’” the DA’s office told Us in a statement. “This law allows a defendant to plead guilty to reckless driving involving alcohol and/or drugs.”

The attorneys’ office explained, “This type of resolution is common, particularly when a defendant demonstrates self-motivation to address underlying issues through rehabilitation or a drug and alcohol treatment program.”

According to the DA’s office, Spears would be “extended” the “wet reckless” offer during her hearing. If she accepted the offer, the “Hit Me Baby One More Time” singer would be placed on probation for 12 months.

The defendant would also receive “credit for any time spent in custody” while being required to “complete a DUI class, and must pay state-mandated fines and fees,” per the statement, which was the deal she made on Monday.

2000s Space Movie Led By Star Trek’s Best Engineer, Has Been Erased From Existence

2000s Space Movie Led By Star Trek's Best Engineer, Has Been Erased From Existence

By Joshua Tyler
| Published

In 2009, with time running out for the Sci-Fi Channel, which was soon to change its name to SyFy so it could run less science fiction, they threw one final Hail Mary in the form of a made-for-TV space movie called Star Runners. To make it work, they plucked the best cast member out of Star Trek: Enterprise and made him their lead. Then they botched everything else.

Star Runners starts out with old-school pulp lettering in the credits and an outer space chase sequence. That seems sci-fi enough, doesn’t it? Former Trek helmsman Connor Trinneer stars as Tycho, and Heroes’ best-buddy James Kyson Lee is Lei Chen, a pair of transport pilots or “star runners” with an illegal shipment to slip past the feds.

James Kyson Lee and Connor Trinneer in Star Runners

At first, despite the cheaply constructed sets around them, the duo’s chemistry works. They’re going for a Han Solo/Chewbacca dynamic here, with our heroes as smugglers shaking patrols and cracking wise at one another.

It doesn’t last, and Star Runners never quite works. Trinneer and Lee soon devolve into playing their characters as if they’ve just taken a heavy dose of sleeping pills, despite the fact that the script seems to be trying, even if it’s not succeeding.

Star Runners

Unfortunately, Tycho and Chen are soon captured and blackmailed by the government into picking up a mysterious shipment and dragging it back to them. The bad acting in Star Runners continues as they hop in their ship and jump into hyperspace using special effects taken straight out of the original Star Wars.

That’s not a complaint, mind you; some of the outer space effects in Star Runners have a great, retro feel, and when they don’t feel like an homage to something else, they turn into a straight ripoff of the more recent Battlestar Galactica, which isn’t really such a bad thing. The outer space effects nearly work, but before they cost them too much money, everyone ends up on the ground.

My name is Astra, and I’ll be your Alice for this evening.

Tycho and Chen get the package. It’s a girl with amnesia, and they immediately dress her to look exactly like Alice in Resident Evil. It’s the same outfit, in a slightly different color, but it’s obvious that the costuming department has read the script and realized that we’re headed for a Resident Evil ripoff.

Or maybe it’s more of a Resident Evil, Pitch Black ripoff since it happens on an alien planet and we’re fighting head-decapitating spiders instead of the undead. Either way, as soon as our mystery girl gets dressed, it’s off to find an excuse to strand them all on a dangerous planet.

I’m Vin Diesel with hair!

The problem here is that Star Runners eventually ends up where every bad Sci-Fi Channel project from that era does: fighting badly rendered CGI monsters. Once upon a time, when you didn’t have the budget necessary to make your sci-fi flick happen, you’d throw in an alien in a bikini or something to distract your audience from the bad matte paintings and cardboard control panels.

By 2009, we were long past the age of movies like Species. Those space babes had been replaced by computer-generated monsters.

These girls don’t even seem to know how to dance.

So after the most PG strip club scene in the universe, Star Runners skips past the idea of bikini babes and instead hides its puritanical inefficiencies behind half-assed CGI spiders. When it comes to those spiders, it’s quantity over quality.

The working theory here seems to be that the quality of the CGI monsters doesn’t matter as long as there are a lot of them. Having just sat through Star Runners for two hours, built almost entirely on this assumption, I’m pretty sure the opposite is true.

Star Runners was the last gasp of a different era, but also a prime example of what killed it. The Sci-Fi Channel died, partly because it leaned into low-effort movies like this one rather than the edgier content that made it relevant in the first place.

Today, Star Runners has been all but erased from existence. It’s not available on legal streaming anywhere, and good luck finding a DVD. Only a very few exist, and none of them are for sale on Amazon. Some are old copies of the official DVD; most are probably burned copies taken from someone’s grandpa’s DVR recording.

Maybe erasing Star Runners from existence is for the best. We’re all better off remembering Connor Trinneer’s career high point as Enterprise’s affable Trip Tucker.

How A Princess Diana Cameo Changed The Met Gala Forever

Published

on

Princess Diana

Princess Diana’s unforgettable 1996 Met Gala appearance is back in the spotlight amid claims that she helped inspire Anna Wintour to transform the event forever.

The late Princess of Wales attended the famous fashion fundraiser during one of the most scrutinized periods of her life, instantly turning heads with a bold outfit that is still discussed decades later.

Now, fresh claims suggest Wintour’s drive to reshape the Met into “fashion’s biggest night out” may have been fueled by Diana’s star power after the Vogue matriarch reportedly missed the chance to host the princess herself.

In a chat with The Times, former American Vogue senior accessories director Filipa Fino claimed that Wintour’s fashion rival, Elizabeth Tilberis, played a key role in bringing Diana to the gala in 1996.

The princess’s attendance was a major coup for Tilberis and reportedly left Wintour frustrated that her competition had beaten her to such a high-profile royal moment.

That frustration was allegedly deepened by the fact that Wintour never got a chance to host Diana herself, as the princess died months after the outing. However, Fino claimed the missed opportunity became part of Wintour’s motivation to elevate the Met Gala into the global fashion spectacle it is today.

“This seed of Anna never being able to host Diana at the Met, and her vision of what it should be like, worthy of a princess, is what drove her from 1996 to today. She took on the Costume Institute Ball as her own personal project,” she said.

Diana Removed The Corset From Her Met Gala Dress

Diana’s appearance at the event wasn’t the only thing that caught attention. Her dress, designed by British designer John Galliano, also drew significant interest in a manner that even surprised the designer himself.

In the Hulu docuseries “In Vogue: The 90s,” Galliano described being approached to dress the late princess and saw the opportunity as “a blessing.” Work on the gown began in earnest, ultimately resulting in a blue, lingerie-inspired, bias-cut slip dress with lace straps, originally designed with a corset.

However, just at the event, Diana made a personal adjustment by removing the corset Galliano had included in the design.

“Fast-forward to the event, and I just remember her getting out of the car,” the designer said, per Newsweek. “I was like [shock]. I couldn’t believe it. She’d ripped the corset out.”

According to Galliano, Diana’s last-minute alteration carried a deeper meaning, seemingly reflecting her sense of freedom following the end of her marriage.

“She didn’t want to wear the corset,” he said. “She felt so liberated. She’d torn the corset out.”

The change also transformed the feel of the gown, making it far more “sensuous” than originally intended. It intensified the attention around Diana as she arrived at the fashion event, with paparazzi swarming to capture the moment.

“The cameras went mental. The paparazzi was blinding, which made the dress really bling and the jewels and everything,” Galliano added.

Wintour also reflected on Diana’s magnetic appeal in the same docuseries, recalling how strongly people were drawn to the late princess at the time.

According to Wintour, Diana “captivated” people, and her love for fashion only heightened the attention around her while boosting her global appeal.

“I think all of us were so captivated and fascinated by Princess Diana,” Wintour shared. “At that time, she was the most famous woman in the world. She was enjoying fashion and the spotlight that she put on, particularly British designers.”

After delivering a show-stopping appearance at the Met, Diana slipped away before midnight, just as the after-party dancing was about to begin.

Looking back at the event, fashion designer Mica Traynor claimed her absence was felt by many who were hoping to see her take to the dance floor.

“I didn’t feel she was actually here. I just wanted to see her dance once, but no luck,” she said.

Debutante Crickett Richards also noted the same eagerness from attendees to see Diana at the after-party.

“They paid to see her, and, to all intents and purposes, she did not show up,” Richards added.

Star Wars’ Most Secretive Deleted Scene Tied Jar Jar Binks to the Empire

Published

on

Star-Wars-Revenge-of-the-Sith-R2D2-and-C3PO

Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace had such high expectations that it seemed like there was nothing George Lucas could do to appease the fans, and the film ended up being considered to be a major disappointment. While there were multiple aspects of the story and filmmaking that were divisive, the most significant amount of backlash went to the character of Jar Jar Binks, the clumsy Gungan played by newcomer Ahmed Best. There was a notable lack of Jar Jar in the next two films in the trilogy, as he had only two speaking scenes in Star Wars: Episode II — Attack of the Clones and only appeared for a brief cameo in Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith. However, Jar Jar was part of a mysterious deleted scene from Revenge of the Sith that has not been included on any of the home video releases.

Jar Jar Binks Had a Bigger Role in ‘Revenge of the Sith’

According to an interview that Best conducted with the Heroes Journey podcast, Revenge of the Sith included a scene set after the creation of the Galactic Empire in which Jar Jar was thanked by Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) for his role in helping to take down the Jedi Order. Although a plethora of deleted scenes from the first six films in the Star Wars franchise were included on a 2012 Blu-Ray release, the sequence that Best referred to was not among them. Jar Jar has been given a bigger role in some of the subsequent Star Wars comics and novels, but none have mentioned the connection that he shared with Darth Sidious. However, Jar Jar’s potentially villainous role isn’t all that surprising when considering how he was manipulated over the course of the prequel trilogy.

Your Fate Has Been Calculated
You’d Survive In…

Your answers point to the world your instincts were built for. This is the universe your temperament, your survival instincts, and your particular brand of stubbornness were made for.

The Resistance, Zion

The Matrix

You took the red pill a long time ago — probably before anyone offered it to you. You’re a systems thinker who can’t help but notice the seams in things.

  • You’re drawn to understanding how the system works before figuring out how to break it.
  • You’d find the Resistance, or it would find you — your instinct for spotting constructed realities is the machines’ worst nightmare.
  • You function best when you have access to information and the freedom to act on it.
  • The Matrix built an airtight prison. You’d be the one probing the walls for the door.

The Wasteland

Mad Max

The wasteland doesn’t reward the clever or the well-connected — it rewards those who are hard to kill and harder to break. That’s you.

  • You don’t need comfort, community, or a cause larger than the next horizon.
  • You need a vehicle, a clear threat, and enough fuel to outrun it — and you’re good at all three.
  • You are unsentimental enough to survive that world, and decent enough — just barely — to be something more than another raider.
  • In the wasteland, that distinction is everything.

Los Angeles, 2049

Blade Runner

You’d survive here because you know how to exist in moral grey areas without losing yourself completely.

  • You read people accurately, keep your circle small, and ask the questions others prefer not to answer.
  • In a city where humanity is a legal designation rather than a feeling, you hold onto something that keeps you functional.
  • You’re not a hero. But you’re not lost, either.
  • In Blade Runner’s world, that distinction is everything.

Arrakis

Dune

Arrakis is the most hostile environment in the known universe — and you are precisely the kind of person it rewards.

  • Patience, discipline, and political awareness are your core strengths — and on Arrakis, they’re survival tools.
  • You understand that the long game matters more than any single victory.
  • Others come to Dune and are consumed by it. You’d learn its logic and earn its respect.
  • In time, you wouldn’t just survive Arrakis — you’d begin to reshape it.

A Galaxy Far, Far Away

Star Wars

The galaxy far, far away is vast, loud, and in a constant state of violent political upheaval — and you wouldn’t have it any other way.

  • You find meaning in being part of something larger than yourself — a cause, a crew, a rebellion.
  • You’d gravitate toward the Rebellion, or the fringes, or whatever pocket of the galaxy still believes the Empire’s grip can be broken.
  • You fight — not because you have to, but because standing aside isn’t something you’re capable of.
  • In Star Wars, that willingness is what makes all the difference.

Jar Jar attracted a lot of criticism upon his debut because it seemed implausible that a goofy, rambunctious character would keep getting opportunities, as he is considered to be a hero after the Battle of Naboo in The Phantom Menace. However, Lucas included a fair amount of political commentary in the prequels, and it makes sense that Jar Jar would be made a representative in the Galactic Senate by Palpatine, as they share a home planet. In Attack of the Clones, Jar Jar is manipulated into calling a vote in favor of giving emergency powers to the Supreme Chancellor when he is tasked with taking Padme Amidala’s (Natalie Portman) place in the Senate when she is dispatched home to remain safe. It’s because of this vote that Palpatine is given newfound authority, which allows him to create the Grand Army of the Republic using the Clone Troopers from Kamino. In Revenge of the Sith, he sends out a message to the clones that calls for them to executive “Order 66,” which means that they must kill all of the Jedi.

Jar Jar was obviously not aware of this plot, as he is friends with Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) and Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen). However, Palpatine has taken advantage of the greed of the Senate to make himself more powerful, as he convinces them to applaud him when he decides to initiate the Galactic Empire. Since Jar Jar never makes contact with any of the other Jedi after Order 66 is called, it’s possible that he believed the conspiracy Palpatine started about the Jedi Order had attempted to take over the Republic. Jar Jar is also never made aware of the true identity of Darth Vader, and thus believed the story that Palpatine told about how Padme died. The only subsequent detail learned about Jar Jar is that he was exiled by his people for inadvertently helping create the Empire, but the secretive Revenge of the Sith scene might suggest that he had more agency than originally believed.

Star Wars’ Jar Jar Binks Is Actually Way More Complex Than You Realize

It’s not clear how much Lucas’ plans for Jar Jar changed after the reaction to The Phantom Menace, as it’s possible that he was originally intended to have a bigger role before receiving so much hate. However, Jar Jar’s story arc is an important part of the Star Wars saga because he showcases the power of influence that both the dark and light sides of the force have. It’s after Qui-Gon Jinn (Liam Neeson) praises Jar Jar that he helps to broker the deal between the humans and Gungans in The Phantom Menace, but Palpatine was able to take advantage of his gullibility by convincing him that he was acting in good faith.

As a Star Wars Fan, Here’s How I’d Rank Every Movie in the Franchise

From ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ to ‘Solo,’ here’s my Star Wars movie ranking.

There doesn’t seem to be any immediate plans to reveal more deleted scenes from Revenge of the Sith, especially since nothing was announced during the film’s 20th anniversary in 2025. However, Jar Jar’s story still feels unfinished because he hasn’t been given the chance to atone for his mistakes in any of the films or shows. Although Best hasn’t played the character since providing his voice for a few episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, he appeared in the third season of The Mandalorian as a new Jedi character. Given that the Star Wars prequel trilogy has experienced a resurgence in popularity now that those who grew up with the films have become more vocal, there is perhaps some reason to hope that the saga of Jar Jar isn’t quite over.

M.I.A. is no longer part of Kid Cudi’s “Rebel Ragers Tour” following a controversial onstage moment that quickly sparked backlash. The “Paper Planes” artist was removed from the lineup after delivering a politically charged monologue during a tour stop in Dallas, where she spoke about immigration and her political views, drawing a mixed reaction from the crowd.

During the performance, M.I.A. addressed the audience directly, saying, “I’ve been canceled for many reasons. I never thought I would be canceled for being a brown Republican voter,” before being met with boos.

She also claimed she couldn’t perform her 2010 track “Illygirl,” which centers on the spirit of migrants and immigrants, suggesting that “some of you could be in the audience.” Clips from the moment quickly circulated online, prompting strong reactions from fans.

Shortly after the footage went viral, Kid Cudi addressed the situation and confirmed M.I.A.’s removal from the tour. “TOUR UPDATE: M.I.A. is no longer on this tour,” he wrote on Instagram. “I told my management to send a notice to her team before we started the tour that I didn’t want anything offensive at my shows, cuz I already knew what time it was, and I was assured things were understood.”

He continued, “After the last couple shows, I’ve been flooded with messages from fans that were upset by her rants. This, to me, is very disappointing, and I won’t have someone on my tour making offensive remarks that upset my fanbase. Thank you for understanding.”

M.I.A. had been scheduled as one of the opening acts on the 33-date tour, alongside Big Boi, who remains on the lineup. Her exit marks a sudden shift for the tour as it continues without her.

M.I.A. Fires Back After Viral Backlash, Defends Her Message

Following the backlash, M.I.A. took to X to respond directly to a viral post criticizing her onstage comments, and she didn’t hold back. The post claimed the crowd turned on her after she spoke about politics and immigration, but M.I.A. pushed back, arguing her words were being taken out of context.

“I WROTE ‘ILLYGIRL’ ON THE ‘MAYA LP,’ A SONG FROM 2010,” she wrote. “I STARTED THIS INTRO TO THE SONG WITH THE STATEMENT SAYING I’M ILLEGAL, AND I SAID MY TEAM HASN’T GOTTEN VISAS YET. THEN PLAYED A SONG THAT HAD LYRICS SAYING ‘F-CK THE LAW’, WHICH I STILL BELIEVE, IF THE LAW IS UNJUST F-CK IT.”

She went on to accuse critics of misrepresenting her message. “DO NOT GASLIGHT MY WORDS. THAT IS THE WORK OF SATAN,” she exclaimed, also pointing to her long history of addressing immigration and identity in her music, saying she had been tackling these issues long before they became mainstream talking points.

“I WROTE ‘BORDERS’ AND ‘ILLYGIRL’ AND ‘PAPER PLANES’ BEFORE YOU THOUGHT IMMIGRANT RIGHTS WERE COOL,” she continued. “I’VE HAD THESE BATTLES BY MYSELF WITHOUT THE HELP OF MILLIONS OF FANS BACKING ME. I DON’T NEED THIS VIRTUE SIGNAL ERA TO ALL OF A SUDDEN ERASE AN ENTIRE LIFE I’VE LED.”

She ended her message with a broader reflection on faith and justice. “JESUS WAS AN IMMIGRANT AND A REBEL. I HAVE NO APOLOGY FOR THE JUDGMENTAL, THE WICKED, AND THE IGNORANT,” she continued in her fiery rant. “JESUS RETURNS TO LEAD THE WORLD JUSTLY BECAUSE THERE IS INJUSTICE IN THIS WORLD. IM PROUD OF THOSE WHO FIGHT FOR IT EVERYDAY. GOD BLESS YOU.”

“GO LISTEN TO M.I.7,” she concluded.

M.I.A., whose real name is Mathangi Arulpragasam, first rose to fame with her 2005 debut Arular and became known for her progressive stance early in her career. In recent years, however, she has taken a different direction, publicly aligning herself with conservative voices and speaking out on a range of political topics. In 2024, she voiced support for Donald Trump and made additional comments about political figures and movements that have drawn attention.

Despite the backlash, M.I.A. has previously addressed criticism head-on. “Every single person who’s ever criticized me or thrown mud at my name, they’re doing it out of jealousy or some other thing that’s making them do that,” she said in a past interview.

She has also pushed back on being labeled politically, saying, “I’ve been around long enough to see what the left was 20 and 30 years ago and what the left is now, and I’ve seen the left get hijacked.”

Dolly Parton was forced to make the difficult decision of postponing her highly anticipated Las Vegas residency in October 2025. This came as the global superstar had been plagued with health issues. Now, several months later, the 80-year-old “Jolene” singer has canceled the engagement.

Parton took to her official social media channels on May 4 to post a more than five-minute-long video. She began, “Well, hey there, it’s Dolly, and I’m here to give you an update on a few things going on in my life.”

From there, she shared that the news was “concerning [her] health, before saying, “I have some good news and a little bad news. But the good news is I’m responding really well to meds and treatments, and I’m improving every day.”

Regarding the “bad news,” Parton stated that “it’s gonna take me a little while before I’m up to stage performance level because some of the meds and treatments make me a little swimmy-headed, as my grandma used to say.”

The music icon went on to mention the demands of her show, the heels and heavy wardrobe, before comparing her health to a classic car that “can better than ever,” after being “restored.”

As the video continued, the singer spoke candidly about her health. According to her, “I’ve told you before that I’ve always had problems with my kidney stones. Lord, they dig more stones out of me a year than the rock quarry in Rockwood, Tenn. But seriously, my immune system and my digestive system got all out of whack over the past couple of years, and they’re working real hard on rebuilding their strength.”

After that, she admitted that her humor in the video was an attempt to remain positive. Parton said, “Anyway, I know I’m being silly, but I’m just tryin’ to keep everything light and airy.”

Later, Parton stated that she was “truly sorry” to those who had tickets to the Las Vegas residency and hoped they could make it to New York to see her upcoming musical.

Parton has experienced quite a bit over the last few years in addition to her health concerns. Notably, her husband, Carl Thomas Dean, passed away in March 2025. Because of this, she’s received a ton of support from her fans following the announcement that she has canceled her Las Vegas residency.

One person said on X, “The stage can wait, take care of your health, and everything else will take care of itself. Bless you.” Someone else wrote, “You are the only person in the world who could turn medical news into something sweet and hilarious. God bless you, Dolly.”

A different social media user stated, “Always prioritize your health first, Dolly! Never feel bad for that, we love you!”

Lastly, another fan wrote, “Sending you all the love and hugs I can muster and praying for a complete healing for you, my dear!”

Elsewhere in Parton’s May 2026 video, she mentioned her late husband, noting the support she’s received and how difficult life has been without him.

She said, “A lot of you have been concerned about me and Carl, and you were so great about that. But after going through a year of firsts, I mean the holidays, and especially our wedding anniversary, and the date of his death, March. 3, that was hard for me.”

Parton went on, “But I will always love him, and I will always miss him, but you would be surprised how much your love and concern meant to me during that time. Lord, my house and my porch looked like the botanical gardens….from the bottom of my heart I thank you; you have been a big part of my healing.”

Parton’s story will soon be told on the Broadway stage in the production “Dolly: A True Original Musical.” The show premiered in Nashville in the summer of 2025. Now, it’s expected to open on the Big White Way either later in 2026 or early in 2027.

According to the show’s official website, three actresses portray Parton across three periods of her life. They are: Katie Rose Clarke, Carrie St. Louis, and Quinn Titcomb. The show is being directed by Bartlett Sher.

The Sci-Fi Thriller That Tried To Save The All-Time Manliest Franchise

The Sci-Fi Thriller That Tried To Save The All-Time Manliest Franchise

By Joshua Tyler
| Published

Predators wants to be the sequel that John McTiernan’s 1987 movie Predator deserved, and while it’s better than many of the earlier sequels it got, I’m not sure that’s saying much. After Predator 2 and the AvP movies, the bar was pretty low.

Still, give director Nimrod Antal’s 2010 take on the franchise some credit: It tries. It really does. That’s more than you can say for some prior efforts. There’s an obvious affection for the iconic alien hunters in the material, and even more affection for the original film, which they’re aiming to be a direct successor to. It’s enough to make it worth watching, but at the time, it was not as much as this franchise’s audience deserved.

Unlike all the other attempts at resurrecting Predator, this one at least had a good idea for a story. It starts with an unconscious man, free-falling from a great height. He awakens in mid-air and starts screaming.

It’s a genius way to start a movie, or it would be, if this scene were even remotely scary. The camera falls with him, plummeting at an insane pace through whipping wind and dizzying heights. This scene should be terrifying. Or if it isn’t terrifying, it should at least be thrilling. It is neither, and it’s just the first of many scenes that seem like they should really work on paper, but somehow, when they actually end up on screen, don’t.

Part of the reason the original Predator is so good is that it’s flat out scary. It’s a horror movie more than an action movie, and though you never get to know the characters in it intimately, you’re rooting for them to survive.

It’s a brutal film, full of gore and violence, which only serves to heighten the thing’s gritty reality. You believe that Dutch and his crew are being stalked by some sort of ultimate, unstoppable killing machine, and it’s utterly terrifying. You care about Dutch not because he has a lot of heartfelt talks with his soldiers, but because he’s simply that badass. Predators tries desperately to duplicate all of that and can’t.

Topher Grace, Walton Goggins, and Adrien Brody in Predators

There’s not a single edge-of-your-seat moment anywhere in Predators. It’s not scary. Not even a little. It never gets any better than that opening freefall: crazy things keep happening on screen, things which seem like they should be thrilling, but somehow never are.

Antal doesn’t really seem to have a knack for this sort of storytelling. He points his camera at what’s happening, but he’s either incapable or uninterested in doing anything to build tension.

It’s obvious from the beginning what’s going to happen. Take the plot of the original Predator, add a few more aliens, and make the human characters less sympathetic, and you have Predators.

On paper, it shouldn’t be this similar. We’re told repeatedly throughout the film that this plot is different. The original movie was about special forces soldiers dropped into a jungle where they encounter a lone Predator. This one is about a group of killers, kidnapped and dropped on an alien planet where they’re hunted for sport.

But aside from the occasional bout of mania, the killers act pretty much like any military unit, and aside from a single scene in which we see a bunch of weird moons, the alien planet looks exactly like that same Earth jungle we saw Dutch running around in back in 1987.

Predators contains more than one Predator, and that should be different. Except we rarely see more than two of them on screen at any time. Most of the movie’s battles pit a single Predator against a single human.

Predators sets out to pay homage to the original movie by echoing it, but instead it mostly ends up duplicating it. It’s a well-made film, but you won’t be thrilled by it, excited by it, or scared by it. Adrien Brody is a surprisingly convincing badass, and the sets are actual constructs rather than just a lame explosion of CGI. That’s nice, but a lot of it feels dated in a way the original 80s movie still doesn’t.

In spite of these issues, if you’re a Predator fan, if you missed it the first time around, I’d recommend streaming Predators. A brief appearance by Laurence Fishburne gives the movie enough life to keep you interested, and even if it’s not shot in a way that’s all that exciting, the movie has a few good ideas.

Predator versus Samurai? It’s every sci-fi fan’s dream. You’ll see it, enjoy it, and forget about it. Good enough.

Predators is currently available to stream on Hulu.

Reese Witherspoon and Julianne Moore Love This $12 Face Wash

Two of Hollywood’s most enduring leading ladies have a beauty secret in common — and it’s not a $300 serum or some bespoke facialist on speed dial. Reese Witherspoon and Julianne Moore both reach for the same humble drugstore staple when packing for a flight. The cleanser sitting in their suitcases? Plain old Cetaphil, the bottle your dermatologist probably recommended back in the ’90s and is still recommending today. That pump bottle is famous to anyone who has ever battled blemishes or irritation, and while the 16-oz size is usually a reasonable $17, it’s currently discounted to $12 during Amazon’s Summer Beauty Event.

Back in 2019, Witherspoon revealed to Refinery29 that the budget-friendly product is one of her favorites. I use the face wash, and I travel with it,” she told the publication. That same year, Moore also explained why this classic earned permanent space in her toiletry kit in a Vogue Beauty Secrets video. “I travel a lot, so I need something I can get kind of all over the world. I use a pretty standard face wash, Cetaphil,” she told the camera, adding that she lathers up with an exfoliating washcloth for optimal results.

The genius of two A-listers cosigning a $12 cleanser is that it confirms what good skin tells us anyway: consistency beats novelty. Witherspoon and Moore could rinse their faces with literal liquid gold if they wanted. Instead, they’re loyal to a fragrance-free formula that won’t throw a tantrum after a red-eye, a long shoot day or a week of recycled hotel-room air. That’s the kind of low-drama beauty pick that ages well, just like its famous fans.

Amazon’s Prime Day and Black Friday sales are elite, but if you’re on the hunt for skincare and makeup buys, the Summer Beauty Event is where it’s at. The annual two-week sale is running now through Sunday, May 10, slashing prices on top-tier products. The best part is that so many celebrity-loved favorites are also […]

Cetaphil’s Daily Facial Cleanser earned its dermatologist-recommended reputation by doing one thing exceptionally well: cleaning your face without wrecking it. The hypoallergenic formula skips parabens and sulfates, which is part of why sensitive, reactive and mature skin types tolerate it so beautifully. It’s also soap-free, so it won’t leave that tight, squeaky feeling that signals you’ve just stripped your moisture barrier into next week. Instead, it reinforces that barrier and balances the skin while still delivering a deep clean. Translation: makeup, sunscreen and the day’s grime go down the drain. Your glow stays put.

Aside from getting two very glamorous endorsements, the tried-and-true formula has been hyped up by Amazon shoppers, too. It’s currently rated 4.7 stars on the site, and over 30k bottles have been purchased in the past month — a number that only solidifies its cult status.

“My favorite facial cleanser ever!” one reviewer wrote. “It left my skin feeling clean and soft after one use, and I’m hooked. I use this every morning and every night before bed. No more breakouts and cleans off makeup and residue from the day!

“One bottle has lasted me over a year,” said another happy customer, who called the wash a “gentle, affordable” option. “I have oily, acne-prone skin, and since using this, I’ve gotten multiple compliments on my skin. Buy this!!!!”

If your skincare shelf is overdue for an edit, swapping in this classic feels less like a downgrade and more like a smart return to basics — something your favorite leading ladies have known for years. Whether you toss it in your weekender bag or keep it easily accessible on your bathroom counter, the Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser plays nicely with retinols and acids and currently costs less than a decent glass of wine.

Drugstore find, celebrity-approved and on sale? That’s a triple word score in beauty lover terms! Grab a bottle now!

1st Look at OG RHONY Stars’ E! Show

Golden Life Trailer Offers 1st Look at OG RHONY Stars New Show LuAnn de Lesseps Dorinda Medley Sonja Morgan

The OG Real Housewives of New York City stars are ready for their second act — and, yes, there will be fighting involved.

Fans got a first look at Dorinda Medley, Luann de Lesseps, Ramona Singer, Sonja Morgan and Kelly Bensimon in the debut Golden Life teaser, released by E! on Monday, May 4. While the reality stars moved to Florida for a more “zen” life, it seems they still have that New York spark.

The trailer showed the women writing a letter to their comrades in Manhattan, explaining how things have changed over the past few years.

“We’ve been mostly keeping quiet,” Dorinda, 61, said. “Things here move at a slower tempo.”

Sonja, 62, added, “We don’t stir things up anymore.”

Both statements appeared to be wildly untrue, as the clip teased what’s to come.

“Do not call me names,” Kelly, 58, could be heard telling Sonja at one point in the teaser. Sonja hit back, adding, “I need to get a mocktail, and in the meantime, shut up!”

Ramona, 69, also did not give up her “turtle time” — and neither did the other cast members. “Why are you lying?” she could be heard yelling repeatedly at Luann, 60, as the trailer continued.

“I went to burp and I threw up a little,” Sonja told Luann. “Do you smell it on my breath?”

Several familiar faces from The Real Housewives of New York will be reuniting for The Golden Life. E! confirmed in February 2026 that the network would be moving forward with the series, which features RHONY alums including Luann de Lesseps, Ramona Singer, Kelly Bensimon and Sonja Morgan now living in Palm Beach, Florida. “Bound by […]

Ramona also told viewers that “it’s been great meeting people our own age” before Sonja was shown talking to a much younger man.

“I can’t do 22 again; it’s exhausting. I had to teach him everything he knows,” Sonja said. “Like I don’t get on top.”

Luann made it clear to viewers that she’s living her “best life” in Florida. It appears the other women are too.

“Consider this your invitation,” they all said, concluding the trailer. While a release date was not revealed, the show is set to premiere on E! in the fall.

News broke in February that some of the OG RHONY women would be returning to TV for the Golden Life. Jill Zarin was initially set to join the cast, but she was fired shortly after the casting announcement due to her comments regarding Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX halftime show.

“I don’t speak Spanish. I would’ve liked to have known the words he was saying. To me, it looked like a political statement because there were literally no white people in the entire thing. I’m not taking a side, one way or the other,” she said, in part, in a video that has since been deleted. “I think it was an ICE thing. I think that the NFL sold out, and it’s very sad.”

Days later, producers confirmed to Us Weekly that Jill would no longer be involved with the show.

“They didn’t even give me a chance,” Jill told In Touch on February 10 about the firing. “I took it down right away. People make mistakes. I’m human.”
