Delhi Capitals Attain ‘Worst’ Record In IPL 2026 With Below Par Display vs CSK

Published

on

It was another underwhelming display by the Delhi Capitals batters. Delhi Capitals’ struggles with the bat at home continued as they faltered on a testing track to end up with a below-par 155 for seven against Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League on Tuesday. On a pitch offering assistance to the spinners, with the odd ball holding up, the home team’s batters failed to apply themselves.

The free fall began with the loss of opener Pathum Nissanka, who failed to clear the mid-on fielder off a slower ball from left-arm pacer Mukesh Choudhary. Both Nissanka (19 off 15) and K.L. Rahul (12 off 13) began with crisp boundaries but did not last long. After Nissanka’s dismissal, Rahul attempted an inside-out hit off left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein but could not get to the pitch of the ball on the charge and was caught by opposition captain Ruturaj Gaikwad.

According to Cricbuzz, DC have been the ‘worst’ team in the IPL 2026 powerplays on four parameters.

DC in Overs 1-6 in IPL 2026

Wickets lost: 21

Average runs per wicket: 23.85

Run rate: 8.35

Dot-ball percentage: 46.4%

DC laboured to 37 for two in the powerplay, with Hosein bowling half of the overs, including one from the other end that produced the wicket of Rahul.

With DC’s innings failing to gain momentum, the crowd-mostly clad in yellow in support of CSK and M.S. Dhoni, who did not even travel for the game-added to the pressure on the ‘home team’. Chants of “CSK, CSK” were heard regularly during the innings.

With such a batting performance, it appeared that DC had not overcome the mental demons of being bowled out for 75 in their previous game at the venue.

After the powerplay, another spinner, Noor Ahmad, dominated the opposition, removing Karun Nair and Nitish Rana, both of whom fell to poorly executed sweep shots.

DC captain Axar Patel had an ideal opportunity to make an impact with the bat but fell to a soft dismissal, offering a sitter to the cover fielder off a Gurjapneet Singh delivery that appeared to stop on him. DC were reeling at 69 for five in 11 overs.

Tristan Stubbs (38 off 31) and Impact Player Sameer Rizvi (40 not out off 24) struck a flurry of sixes to push the innings forward during their 65-run stand, but the damage done in the first half of the innings could not be undone as DC finished with an underwhelming total.

2026 Preakness Stakes horses, odds, predictions: Picks by expert who’s nailed the last three winners

Published

on

The final two legs of the 2026 Triple Crown will look a bit different, as they’re being held at temporary locations. That starts with the 2026 Preakness Stakes on Saturday, May 16, which will take place at Laurel Park in Maryland. Its regular home of Pimlico Race Course is underdoing renovations, so Laurel will become the fourth racetrack to host the The Run for the Black-Eyed Susans. After the Preakness Stakes 2026, the Belmont Stakes will take place at Saratoga due to construction at Belmont Park. Bet on the Preakness at FanDuel Racing now. Claim your new user bonus here:

Crude Velocity, who won the Pat Day Mile, is the 4-1 favorite in the early Preakness Stakes 2026 odds released before the Kentucky Derby. Golden Tempo has not been confirmed for the Preakness, but the Kentucky Derby champion is a 70-1 longshot for Laurel Park, though his odds are almost certain to fall if he chooses to be one of the 2026 Preakness Stakes horses. Other 2026 Preakness Stakes contenders include Iron Honor (19-1) and Taj Mahal (20-1). Before making any 2026 Preakness Stakes picks, be sure to see the 2026 Preakness Stakes predictions and best bets from SportsLine’s elite horse racing expert Jody Demling.

A fixture in the horse racing world who has been writing about, talking about and betting on races for years, Demling hit the top three finishers in the 2025 Kentucky Derby in the correct order. He also called 11 of the last 21 Preakness winners, including 2023, when he hit the winner, exacta, trifecta and superfecta. He hit the trifecta in the 2024 Preakness Stakes and nailed Journalism as the 2025 Preakness winner. Anyone who has followed him on horse racing betting sites could be way up.

Now, with the 2026 Preakness Stakes approaching and horse racing futures odds on the board, Demling is sharing his 2026 Preakness Stakes betting picks and 2026 Preakness Stakes predictions over at SportsLine. Go to SportsLine to see them.

Top 2026 Preakness Stakes predictions

One of Demling’s surprising 2026 Preakness Stakes picks: Demling is fading Golden Tempo even though he just won the Kentucky Derby. Golden Tempo has yet to be confirmed for the Preakness, but if he runs, Demling doesn’t have Golden Tempo winning at Laurel Park, saying he “needs a good set up and that will be tougher to get in the Preakness Stakes.”

Prevailing at Churchill Downs is Golden Tempo’s only victory over his last three starts as he finished third at both the Louisiana Derby and Risen Star Stakes. Also, if he does run on May 16, then the horse will have to deal with a short turnaround that he’s never experienced before. All of his previous races came with at least four weeks of rest — with the Derby being after six weeks of rest — so it would be a lot to ask for the horse to triumph again with just two weeks between the Kentucky Derby and Preakness. See who to back at SportsLine.

Another stunner: Demling is high on Taj Mahal, even though he’s a double-digit longshot at 20-1. “The son of Derby winner Nyquist is 3-for-3 with all of his races at Laurel Park,” said Demling. Nyquist won the 2016 Kentucky Derby, and Taj Mahal’s damsire, Quality Road, was a four-time Grade 1 winner, so Taj Mahal has pedigree on his side. His three Laurel Park wins came on varying track conditions, including both fast and muddy, so he may have a home-track advantage come May 16.

That last victory was at the Federico Tesio on April 18, so he’ll have plenty of rest before the Preakness. His trainer, Brittany Russell, is one of the most accomplished in recent Maryland horse racing history, leading all trainers in the state in wins in both 2023 and 2024. Considering Taj Mahal’s track history and strong pedigree, he’s a longshot worth taking a chance on with Preakness Stakes bets. See which other horses to back at SportsLineBet on the Preakness at DK Horse. How to make 2026 Preakness Stakes picks, bets

Demling is also especially high on an epic double-digit longshot who’s well-rested and the perfect fit for the Preakness. Anyone who backs this sleeper pick could hit it big. Demling is sharing which horse it is, along with his entire projected 2026 Preakness Stakes leaderboard, over at SportsLine.

Which horse wins the Preakness Stakes 2026, and which stunning longshot is a must-back? Check out the latest 2026 Preakness Stakes odds below, then visit SportsLine to see Demling’s picks for the Preakness Stakes, all from the expert who has nailed the last three winners.

Kiké Hernández starts rehab with Triple-A Oklahoma City

Published

on

Triple-A Oklahoma City has been a busy place for Dodgers on the mend for the past few weeks, with rehab assignments piling up over the last few days. Utility man Kiké Hernández is the latest to work his way back with the Comets, starting a rehab assignment on Tuesday night.

Hernández on Tuesday started at third base and batted second against the Salt Lake Bees, an Angels affiliate.

Hernández is coming off left elbow surgery in November, and also missed 40 games last July and August with left elbow inflammation. Oklahoma City Comets play-by-play announcer Alex Freedman during the broadcast in the first inning on Tuesday said Hernández mentioned earlier during batting practice that this was the first time he’s felt fully healthy in about a year.

This is going to be a lengthy rehab for Hernández, who has been on the 60-day injured list since February, and his earliest possible return to the Dodgers is May 24.

Hernández is the fourth Dodger to play for Oklahoma City since Saturday. Blake Snell pitched four innings in Round Rock on Sunday, and is expected to make one more rehab start this coming Saturday at a location to be determined. Brock Stewart rehabbed for three weeks with Ontario and Oklahoma City, and is back with the Dodgers in Houston, though he has not yet been activated off the injured list. Brusdar Graterol pitched in his first game in 549 days on Saturday, and is expected to be on a long rehab assignment as he returns from November 2024 shoulder surgery.

Other Dodgers on the mend

Tommy Edman is coming off right ankle surgery in November, and though he’s not (yet) on the 60-day injured list, he’s behind Hernández on the rehab calendar. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters Monday in Houston that Edman felt some soreness in his ankle, so they’ve slowed down his rehab program, which has been on the cautious said since the offseason.

Mookie Betts could be on a rehab assignment soon, as he works his way back from an oblique strain.

“Mookie is working on his bat speed. He feels good. I would say he’s going to get out on a rehab soon. Whether it’s this week — he’s supposed to a simulated game, like a live BP on Thursday,” Roberts said Monday, as shown on SportsNet LA. “If he does his live BP on Thursday and comes out okay, then you can sort of figure out where he goes next.”

Betts was injured on March 4 in Washington D.C., and last week on the homestand said doctors initially told him he’d miss six weeks. This Saturday is the five-week mark for Betts, who said he was ahead of schedule but also cautioned that the nature of oblique injuries requires patience.

“It’s just time. There’s no magic formula to this. You can do as much rehab as you want. Obliques just take time, it’s always four to six weeks, no matter however you want to twist it,” Betts said on April 29 at Dodger Stadium. “We’re kind of approaching the four-week mark. Once I get to that point is when we’ll really turn the corner. We’re close, and after that it’s going to get a lot better.”

Axar Patel, Delhi Capitals Shown No Mercy After Another Collapse: ‘Serious Cricket Team?’

Published

on

Former India cricketer Dodda Ganesh has lashed out Delhi Capitals over their ‘shocking’ team selection in their IPL 2026 clash against Chennai Super Kings on Friday. After captain Axar Patel opted to bat, DC suffered a batting collapse at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The hosts were reduced to 69/5 at the end of the 11th over before Sameer Rizvi (40 not out) and Tristan Stubbs (38) added a crucial 65 runs take DC to a respectable total of 155/7.

Taking to X, Ganesh slammed Axar and the DC management for their selection calls, questioning the decision to bench impact players like Prithvi Shaw, Abishek Porel, and David Miller. Ganesh wondered aloud whether DC is operating like a “serious franchise,” given the tactical blunders seen so far.

“There’s so much Indian batting talent available in Delhi’s camp. They can so easily open with Shaw/Rana/Porel along with KL, & have Miller in the middle order. Instead, the geniuses play Nissanka at the top & drop Miller. Tell me, how can this be a serious cricket team?” Ganesh wrote on X.

DC’s free fall began with the loss of opener Pathum Nissanka who failed to clear the mid-on fielder off a slower ball from left-arm pacer Mukesh Choudhary.

Both Nissanka (19 off 15) and K L Rahul (12 off 13) began with crisp boundaries but did not last long. After Nissanka, Rahul attempted an inside-out hit off left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein but could not get to the pitch of the ball on the charge to be caught by opposition captain Ruturaj Gaikwad.

DC laboured to 37 for two in the powerplay with Hosein bowling half of the overs including one from the other end that produced the wicket of Rahul.

Axar had the ideal opportunity to make an impact with the bat but fell to a soft dismissal, offering a sitter to the cover fielder off a Gurjapneet Singh ball that appeared to stop on him. DC were now reeling at 69 for five in 11 overs.

Tristan Stubbs (38 off 31) and impact player Sameer Rizvi (40 not out off 24) hit a flurry of sixes to take the innings forward in their 65-run stand but the damage done in the first half of the game could not be reversed as DC ended with an underwhelming total.
