Matheus Cunha also recently gave some fans hope Casemiro may remain at the club, by saying “you never know” while hinting he wants his teammate to stay. However, the midfield veteran confirmed himself he will walk out of Old Trafford with his head held high at the end of the season.
Speaking to ESPN, when asked if he might now stay at the club, Casemiro replied: “I don’t think there’s a chance. There’s no chance. Mostly because of what I said, you know? Go out the big door.
“I think it was four beautiful, wonderful years and I am eternally grateful not only to the club, but to the fans. But I think I have to leave in good terms, I have to go out on top.

“I will be an eternal United fan here in England and I just have to thank all the love from the fans.”
This will be a huge disappointment for Cunha especially, who recently said: “I play with him in the national team and I know how important he is. He’s an amazing guy. And yeah, to have this guy in the dressing room is a privilege.
“We don’t know in the end how it is with his contract, and then of course we, everyone, hopes there’s a little bit more. Of course, I know it’s harder than we talked about, but yeah, in the end, you never know.”

Carrick also told the United fan base to enjoy Casemiro’s performances and spirit as much as they can between now and the end of the campaign. The United interim boss said: “Case’s had an influence within the group.
“He’s got huge experience, he’s a big player, he’s achieved an awful lot in the game, and I have to say, since I’ve been here, he’s given everything that he could possibly give.
“The situation’s probably helped that, knowing exactly where it’s at, there’s nothing to hide and he’s thrown himself right into it. It’s football, you know, it’s football. Some players have come and gone, players have come and left this football club over the years and you’ve got to evolve and you go with that.

“That’s kind of the world we’re in, but he’s definitely given everything and I think it’s nice that he’s got that connection with the supporters and it comes from both ways because I know he’s an emotional guy and it means a lot to him.”

The final two legs of the 2026 Triple Crown will look a bit different, as they’re being held at temporary locations. That starts with the 2026 Preakness Stakes on Saturday, May 16, which will take place at Laurel Park in Maryland. Its regular home of Pimlico Race Course is underdoing renovations, so Laurel will become the fourth racetrack to host the The Run for the Black-Eyed Susans. After the Preakness Stakes 2026, the Belmont Stakes will take place at Saratoga due to construction at Belmont Park. Bet on the Preakness at FanDuel Racing now. Claim your new user bonus here:
Crude Velocity, who won the Pat Day Mile, is the 4-1 favorite in the early Preakness Stakes 2026 odds released before the Kentucky Derby. Golden Tempo has not been confirmed for the Preakness, but the Kentucky Derby champion is a 70-1 longshot for Laurel Park, though his odds are almost certain to fall if he chooses to be one of the 2026 Preakness Stakes horses. Other 2026 Preakness Stakes contenders include Iron Honor (19-1) and Taj Mahal (20-1). Before making any 2026 Preakness Stakes picks, be sure to see the 2026 Preakness Stakes predictions and best bets from SportsLine’s elite horse racing expert Jody Demling.
A fixture in the horse racing world who has been writing about, talking about and betting on races for years, Demling hit the top three finishers in the 2025 Kentucky Derby in the correct order. He also called 11 of the last 21 Preakness winners, including 2023, when he hit the winner, exacta, trifecta and superfecta. He hit the trifecta in the 2024 Preakness Stakes and nailed Journalism as the 2025 Preakness winner. Anyone who has followed him on horse racing betting sites could be way up.
Now, with the 2026 Preakness Stakes approaching and horse racing futures odds on the board, Demling is sharing his 2026 Preakness Stakes betting picks and 2026 Preakness Stakes predictions over at SportsLine. Go to SportsLine to see them.

Top 2026 Preakness Stakes predictions
One of Demling’s surprising 2026 Preakness Stakes picks: Demling is fading Golden Tempo even though he just won the Kentucky Derby. Golden Tempo has yet to be confirmed for the Preakness, but if he runs, Demling doesn’t have Golden Tempo winning at Laurel Park, saying he “needs a good set up and that will be tougher to get in the Preakness Stakes.”
Prevailing at Churchill Downs is Golden Tempo’s only victory over his last three starts as he finished third at both the Louisiana Derby and Risen Star Stakes. Also, if he does run on May 16, then the horse will have to deal with a short turnaround that he’s never experienced before. All of his previous races came with at least four weeks of rest — with the Derby being after six weeks of rest — so it would be a lot to ask for the horse to triumph again with just two weeks between the Kentucky Derby and Preakness. See who to back at SportsLine.
Another stunner: Demling is high on Taj Mahal, even though he’s a double-digit longshot at 20-1. “The son of Derby winner Nyquist is 3-for-3 with all of his races at Laurel Park,” said Demling. Nyquist won the 2016 Kentucky Derby, and Taj Mahal’s damsire, Quality Road, was a four-time Grade 1 winner, so Taj Mahal has pedigree on his side. His three Laurel Park wins came on varying track conditions, including both fast and muddy, so he may have a home-track advantage come May 16.
That last victory was at the Federico Tesio on April 18, so he’ll have plenty of rest before the Preakness. His trainer, Brittany Russell, is one of the most accomplished in recent Maryland horse racing history, leading all trainers in the state in wins in both 2023 and 2024. Considering Taj Mahal’s track history and strong pedigree, he’s a longshot worth taking a chance on with Preakness Stakes bets. See which other horses to back at SportsLine. Triple-A Oklahoma City has been a busy place for Dodgers on the mend for the past few weeks, with rehab assignments piling up over the last few days. Utility man Kiké Hernández is the latest to work his way back with the Comets, starting a rehab assignment on Tuesday night.
Hernández on Tuesday started at third base and batted second against the Salt Lake Bees, an Angels affiliate.
Mookie Betts could be on a rehab assignment soon, as he works his way back from an oblique strain.
“Mookie is working on his bat speed. He feels good. I would say he’s going to get out on a rehab soon. Whether it’s this week — he’s supposed to a simulated game, like a live BP on Thursday,” Roberts said Monday, as shown on SportsNet LA. “If he does his live BP on Thursday and comes out okay, then you can sort of figure out where he goes next.”
Betts was injured on March 4 in Washington D.C., and last week on the homestand said doctors initially told him he’d miss six weeks. This Saturday is the five-week mark for Betts, who said he was ahead of schedule but also cautioned that the nature of oblique injuries requires patience.
“It’s just time. There’s no magic formula to this. You can do as much rehab as you want. Obliques just take time, it’s always four to six weeks, no matter however you want to twist it,” Betts said on April 29 at Dodger Stadium. “We’re kind of approaching the four-week mark. Once I get to that point is when we’ll really turn the corner. We’re close, and after that it’s going to get a lot better.”

Former India cricketer Dodda Ganesh has lashed out Delhi Capitals over their ‘shocking’ team selection in their IPL 2026 clash against Chennai Super Kings on Friday. After captain Axar Patel opted to bat, DC suffered a batting collapse at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The hosts were reduced to 69/5 at the end of the 11th over before Sameer Rizvi (40 not out) and Tristan Stubbs (38) added a crucial 65 runs take DC to a respectable total of 155/7.
Taking to X, Ganesh slammed Axar and the DC management for their selection calls, questioning the decision to bench impact players like Prithvi Shaw, Abishek Porel, and David Miller. Ganesh wondered aloud whether DC is operating like a “serious franchise,” given the tactical blunders seen so far.
“There’s so much Indian batting talent available in Delhi’s camp. They can so easily open with Shaw/Rana/Porel along with KL, & have Miller in the middle order. Instead, the geniuses play Nissanka at the top & drop Miller. Tell me, how can this be a serious cricket team?” Ganesh wrote on X.

DC’s free fall began with the loss of opener Pathum Nissanka who failed to clear the mid-on fielder off a slower ball from left-arm pacer Mukesh Choudhary.
Both Nissanka (19 off 15) and K L Rahul (12 off 13) began with crisp boundaries but did not last long. After Nissanka, Rahul attempted an inside-out hit off left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein but could not get to the pitch of the ball on the charge to be caught by opposition captain Ruturaj Gaikwad.

DC laboured to 37 for two in the powerplay with Hosein bowling half of the overs including one from the other end that produced the wicket of Rahul.
Axar had the ideal opportunity to make an impact with the bat but fell to a soft dismissal, offering a sitter to the cover fielder off a Gurjapneet Singh ball that appeared to stop on him. DC were now reeling at 69 for five in 11 overs.
Tristan Stubbs (38 off 31) and impact player Sameer Rizvi (40 not out off 24) hit a flurry of sixes to take the innings forward in their 65-run stand but the damage done in the first half of the game could not be reversed as DC ended with an underwhelming total.

IPL 2026 News | RCB Outplay CSK For 2nd Win On Trot, Ruturaj Gaikwad & Co Suffer 3rd Loss
Apr 18, 2026; Hilton Head, South Carolina, USA; Matt Fitzpatrick watches his drive on the third hole during the third round of the RBC Heritage golf tournament. Mandatory Credit: Jim Dedmon-Imagn Images
Two weeks ago, Matt Fitzpatrick helped his brother Alex earn his PGA Tour card through 2028 with their dual victory at the Zurich Classic pairs event.
‘
This week at the Truist Championship in Charlotte, they’ll play alongside each other as full-time PGA competitors for the first time at Quail Hollow Club.
For Matt, who has much more PGA Tour experience while Alex was playing full-time on the DP World Tour until his Zurich victory, the 31-year-old feels an obligation to take his brother, who is four years younger, under his wing.
“Definitely. I think it would be wrong of me not to (play practice rounds) with him and help him out as much as I can. He’s been thrown in the deep end straight away and it’s all happening very fast so I feel like I have an obligation to help him too,” Matt Fitzpatrick said. “I’ve already said to him, ‘If you don’t want that, you can tell me to mind my own business.’ I don’t want to feel like I’m getting involved in all these decisions and stuff, that’s his thing. I just kind of want to offer my two cents, if you like, and see where it goes.”
Alex did plenty well without his brother around last week at the Cadillac Championship, finishing in a tie for ninth in his first event since earning his card.
Matt took last week’s signature event off after winning consecutive events the prior two weeks at the RBC Heritage and Zurich. While it was a week away from golf, it was not the celebratory week off people may have expected given his impressive recent form.
“I spent last week at home in Florida with my wife and my parents. We had a little bit of off-course stuff to do with the house that I bought and stuff,” Fitzpatrick said. “I think that kind of occupied me for most of the week, which was nice to not have to think about golf for a little bit.”
Matt’s debut win on tour came at the 2022 U.S. Open and he followed with a 2023 win at the RBC Heritage. An extended drought without a title followed, though, as he went winless until this March’s Valspar Championship.
His three wins in a span of five weeks are more than he had in his first 11 years on tour combined, sending him surging up to fourth in the Official World Golf Ranking.
“My DNA is definitely different. The makeup of my game at that point in time was pretty much great driving of the golf ball, like really, really, really good. I was long and straight at that point. I hit my irons pretty well at that point too,” Matt Fitzpatrick said of reflecting on how his game has changed since his U.S. Open victory four years ago. “I would say now I feel like I’m driving it probably just as well, maybe not quite as long, but I’m driving it just as straight if not straighter and my irons are another level above. So I feel like that combination alongside me putting well, which has always been a strength in the past, is obviously a nice mix.”
Matt also has recent success at Quail Hollow, finishing in a tie for eighth at last year’s PGA Championship at the same course.

WWE star Rhea Ripley opens up about struggling in NXT
WWE Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley discussed her time in NXT and how she struggled early on in her career.
“It was terrifying. It made me feel like, honestly, how I felt in high school when I was shopping for my graduation. I just felt so nervous and uneasy, and I felt like I hated myself in everything that I was wearing. I thought my shoulders were too broad. I just thought I was like a weirdly shaped human. I just hated all the clothes on me. So shopping those days was terrifying,” she said.

After Churchill’s Choice’s near-rail triumph on the outside, trainer Nathan Doyle was filled with joy and release.
“She has been a frustrating mare as she’s always had the ability but hasn’t won one of these stakes races,” Doyle said.
“But she’s got that good win now and I’m really happy for her owner, Kevin (Hill). He has been quite crook and is in hospital in Brisbane so hopefully that picks him up.”
Regan Bayliss aboard the $26 Churchill’s Choice flew externally to take the Hawkesbury Gold Cup by a half length ahead of $19 Palmetto, War Eternal ($31) third a matching distance away, nosing out $3.30 Taken.

For top Sydney owner Carl Holt, disappointment struck as his royal blue and red vee was carried by the jockeys placing second through fourth.
This led to big payouts for select TAB players, with Trifecta at $6739.10 and First Four an enormous $53,067.20.
Doyle credited a tactical riding switch for unlocking Churchill’s Choice’s best career result.
“We took her back to the trials because we thought she might be a mad fresh horse,” Doyle said.
“She went so well first-up but then was a bit plain at her next run.”So, I got Regan up for the trial as she can hit a flat spot between the 500m and the 300m.
“She is probably dropping back two to three lengths and that’s where she has been losing her races.
“But you could see today that Regan got on his ‘bike’ at the 500m and got her into the race.”
Answering Doyle’s call for a Gosford barrier trial ride on Churchill’s Choice proved crucial for Bayliss at Hawkesbury.

“I’m glad I trialled her as that flat spot can cost her races,” Bayliss said.
“I just wanted to have her within striking range today and when she started to think about ‘dropping’ at the 500m, I kept at her.
“Once she got balanced up in the straight, she had to show a really good turn of foot today but she was strong to the line.”
It was Churchill’s Choice’s third appearance back from a break, with the Hawkesbury result booking her spot in the $3 million Big Dance (1600m) at Royal Randwick for Melbourne Cup Day, the first Tuesday in November.

Doyle, though, eyes something closer, contemplating the Listed $200,000 Scone Cup (1600m) at Scone on May 15.

Delhi Capitals’ struggles with the bat at home continued as they faltered on a testing track to end up with a below-par 155 for seven against Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League on Tuesday. On a pitch offering assistance to the spinners, with the odd ball holding up, the home team’s batters failed to apply themselves.
The free fall began with the loss of opener Pathum Nissanka, who failed to clear the mid-on fielder off a slower ball from left-arm pacer Mukesh Choudhary. Both Nissanka (19 off 15) and K.L. Rahul (12 off 13) began with crisp boundaries but did not last long. After Nissanka’s dismissal, Rahul attempted an inside-out hit off left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein but could not get to the pitch of the ball on the charge and was caught by opposition captain Ruturaj Gaikwad.
According to Cricbuzz, DC have been the ‘worst’ team in the IPL 2026 powerplays on four parameters.

DC laboured to 37 for two in the powerplay, with Hosein bowling half of the overs, including one from the other end that produced the wicket of Rahul.
With DC’s innings failing to gain momentum, the crowd-mostly clad in yellow in support of CSK and M.S. Dhoni, who did not even travel for the game-added to the pressure on the ‘home team’. Chants of “CSK, CSK” were heard regularly during the innings.
With such a batting performance, it appeared that DC had not overcome the mental demons of being bowled out for 75 in their previous game at the venue.

After the powerplay, another spinner, Noor Ahmad, dominated the opposition, removing Karun Nair and Nitish Rana, both of whom fell to poorly executed sweep shots.
DC captain Axar Patel had an ideal opportunity to make an impact with the bat but fell to a soft dismissal, offering a sitter to the cover fielder off a Gurjapneet Singh delivery that appeared to stop on him. DC were reeling at 69 for five in 11 overs.
Tristan Stubbs (38 off 31) and Impact Player Sameer Rizvi (40 not out off 24) struck a flurry of sixes to push the innings forward during their 65-run stand, but the damage done in the first half of the innings could not be undone as DC finished with an underwhelming total.
