Why Is Tracker Relocating? $48 Million Tax Credit Explained

Justin Hartley‘s Tracker is going through a big change by relocating from Canada to Los Angeles for season 4 after a nearly $50 million tax credit.

News broke on Monday, May 4, that Hartley’s hit CBS series is moving production after three seasons in Vancouver. Deadline reported that the show was on a list that revealed that Tracker got awarded $48 million on $129 million in qualified expenditures.

Tracker is 20th Television’s biggest series to be brought back to California with the help of a tax credit. Before that, Prime Video’s Fallout moved from New York to Los Angeles, while Dan Fogelman’s upcoming NFL drama, The Land, was given a $42.8 million tax credit.

“I’m proud of what we built in Vancouver. I’m also very excited we’re bringing Tracker to L.A.,” Hartley, 49, said in a statement on Monday. “I’m looking forward to continuing to tell these stories alongside the new, fresh places we’ll be heading to next. Most importantly, I want to thank the fans for showing up for us every step of the way. We couldn’t do this without you.”

When it comes to breaking TV records, there is no denying that Justin Hartley knows what America wants — just look at his hit show Tracker. Based on Jeffery Deaver‘s novel The Never Game, Tracker follows a survivalist named Colter (Hartley) who travels the country helping people and law enforcement tackle a variety of mysteries. […]

TV shows can earn an additional 5 percent tax credit bonus — on top of the 35 percent base credit — for qualified expenditures incurred outside the 30-mile zone that covers the Greater Los Angeles area and surrounding communities, according to Deadline.

Tax credits for relocation are being awarded to shows for their projected outsized economic effect, with jobs being created for Los Angeles-based crews and local businesses being boosted by returning production.

“Location is a huge part of the storytelling on Tracker,” showrunner Elwood Reid told Deadline. “We’re so grateful to the crew and people of Vancouver who made the first three seasons of this hit drama possible, and are simultaneously thrilled to be able to kick off the fourth season of Tracker by filming in Los Angeles, thanks to the tax incentive program that supports bringing production back to California.”

Based on Jeffery Deaver‘s novel The Never Game, Tracker follows Colter around the country as he helps to find missing people and solve mysterious cases. Hartley, who is also an executive producer, has hinted at how far the show will push his character.

“I just love that when you watch a show like that and you tune into season 1 and then you tune into the last season, you see the development of the character and you go, ‘Wait a minute, are they playing different roles?’ But then if you watch it throughout the years, you experience those things with the characters,” he told TV Insider in September 2024. “As competent and confident as Colter is, I don’t at all think for a second that he doesn’t have a ton to learn, especially about himself and his family and all that.”

Hartley continued: “Going forward, I think that will be how the show lives on a long runway, is that we keep developing this character and he becomes better at what he’s doing. He’s a restless man, and for an audience member, at least shows that I love to watch, you love to see that growth of a character and we have that.”

Hartley also warned that the character could die in the future.

“It’s important to keep upping the stakes. I like being Colter as a hero, finding people and all that. I also really like seeing him in a suspenseful thriller and a dangerous situation,” he told The Hollywood Reporter in April 2025. “I don’t want our audience to forget that this man is mortal, he’s not a superhero. He can die! The things he is doing are very, very dangerous.”

Tracker airs on CBS Sundays at 9 p.m. ET before streaming the next day on Paramount+.

Netflix’s New Fantasy Epic Officially Destroys a 3-Year Streaming Record

Published

on

thhxwxge06goxu6zqh1hj7vk8hd.jpg

Some Netflix movies quietly arrive, hang around the Top 10 for a few days, and then vanish into the algorithmic fog. Others show up with enough momentum to make it clear that families are pressing play in huge numbers. This one seems to belong firmly in the second category. It’s bright, emotional, body-swap silly, and apparently exactly the kind of animated adventure viewers were looking for, because its opening numbers are genuinely huge.

Swapped debuted with 15.5 million views, pushing the animated fantasy movie to second place on Netflix’s weekly English-language movie chart. That makes it one of the streamer’s biggest family-film launches of the year, and a very strong start for Skydance Animation’s latest original feature. The movie follows two rival forest creatures who magically switch bodies, forcing them to understand each other’s worlds while trying to stop a larger threat.

The voice cast includes Michael B. Jordan (Black Panther, Creed) as Olly, Juno Temple (Ted Lasso, Fargo) as Ivy, Tracy Morgan (30 Rock, The Longest Yard) as Boogle, Cedric the Entertainer (Barbershop, The Neighborhood) as Caloo, Justina Machado (One Day at a Time, Jane the Virgin) as Calli, Ambika Mod (One Day, This Is Going to Hurt) as Violet, Lolly Adefope (Ghosts, Shrill) as Lily, and Táta Vega (The Color Purple, The Lion King) as Olly’s Grandma.

Your Fate Has Been Calculated
You’d Survive In…

Your answers point to the world your instincts were built for. This is the universe your temperament, your survival instincts, and your particular brand of stubbornness were made for.

The Resistance, Zion

The Matrix

You took the red pill a long time ago — probably before anyone offered it to you. You’re a systems thinker who can’t help but notice the seams in things.

  • You’re drawn to understanding how the system works before figuring out how to break it.
  • You’d find the Resistance, or it would find you — your instinct for spotting constructed realities is the machines’ worst nightmare.
  • You function best when you have access to information and the freedom to act on it.
  • The Matrix built an airtight prison. You’d be the one probing the walls for the door.

The Wasteland

Mad Max

The wasteland doesn’t reward the clever or the well-connected — it rewards those who are hard to kill and harder to break. That’s you.

  • You don’t need comfort, community, or a cause larger than the next horizon.
  • You need a vehicle, a clear threat, and enough fuel to outrun it — and you’re good at all three.
  • You are unsentimental enough to survive that world, and decent enough — just barely — to be something more than another raider.
  • In the wasteland, that distinction is everything.

Los Angeles, 2049

Blade Runner

You’d survive here because you know how to exist in moral grey areas without losing yourself completely.

  • You read people accurately, keep your circle small, and ask the questions others prefer not to answer.
  • In a city where humanity is a legal designation rather than a feeling, you hold onto something that keeps you functional.
  • You’re not a hero. But you’re not lost, either.
  • In Blade Runner’s world, that distinction is everything.

Arrakis

Dune

Arrakis is the most hostile environment in the known universe — and you are precisely the kind of person it rewards.

  • Patience, discipline, and political awareness are your core strengths — and on Arrakis, they’re survival tools.
  • You understand that the long game matters more than any single victory.
  • Others come to Dune and are consumed by it. You’d learn its logic and earn its respect.
  • In time, you wouldn’t just survive Arrakis — you’d begin to reshape it.

A Galaxy Far, Far Away

Star Wars

The galaxy far, far away is vast, loud, and in a constant state of violent political upheaval — and you wouldn’t have it any other way.

  • You find meaning in being part of something larger than yourself — a cause, a crew, a rebellion.
  • You’d gravitate toward the Rebellion, or the fringes, or whatever pocket of the galaxy still believes the Empire’s grip can be broken.
  • You fight — not because you have to, but because standing aside isn’t something you’re capable of.
  • In Star Wars, that willingness is what makes all the difference.

What’s the Message Behind ‘Swapped’?

The film’s director, Nathan Greno, recently sat down with Collider and gushed about how wonderful Jordan and Temple had been to work with. According to Greno, Temple brought sadness and vulnerability to scenes he thought he already understood, while Jordan’s process changed the way Greno thinks about directing voice performances at all. He told Collider, “And then Mike… it’s Mike. I mean, Michael B. Jordan is, I mean… the way he records, I’ve never experienced anything like that, and it’s kind of changed the way I even direct now, when I’m going forward. It’s, like, his way of working and his way of, like, finding the truth within the lines. Both of them change the course of the movie 100%.”

Temple, speaking to Collider’s Steve Weintraub, added that the message of the movie was an important one for her, and that she hopes kids took a lot from it. “I hope that they feel the absolute importance and need for friendship we’ll have throughout life. It doesn’t matter how old you are, where you come from, what you do, your friends are always going to be integral to making your life better, bigger, and more beautiful,” said Temple.

Swapped is streaming now on Netflix.

Creatine Benefits, Brain Health and Dosing for Women

Published

on

Everything to Know About RHOSLC Alum Jen Shah's Legal Drama

Creatine sales jumped 120 percent in the 52 weeks ending March 2023, according to SPINS data , and the new wave of customers driving that growth isn’t the male gym crowd that built the supplement’s reputation. It’s women, many of them in their 30s, 40s and 50s, paying attention to research suggesting creatine may do more than support strength training.

It may also support brain function, sleep and the muscle and bone changes that come with perimenopause and menopause. Halle Berry has publicly credited it for helping her manage menopausal brain fog, and the science behind that claim has been building for years.

What Creatine Actually Is and Why Women May Respond Differently

Creatine is a naturally occurring compound the body produces in the liver, kidneys and pancreas. About 95 percent is stored in skeletal muscle and 5 percent in the brain and heart, according to a May 2025 review in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition. It’s not a steroid or a hormone. Both men and women make it naturally and consume it through food, primarily red meat and fish.

Women tend to start from a lower baseline. The JISSN review reports approximately 20-30 percent lower dietary creatine intake in women than men, along with lower natural synthesis rates, which may make women especially responsive to supplementation. Post-menopausal women also face declining estrogen, accelerated muscle loss, reduced bone density and changes in brain function, all areas where creatine has shown measurable benefit.

Does Creatine Make Women Bulky? The Myth vs. The Science

This is the question that keeps many women from trying it. Women have approximately 15 to 20 times lower testosterone than men, making significant muscle bulk from creatine physiologically implausible.

What creatine actually does is support ATP energy production during high-intensity effort, allowing harder training sessions that over time support lean muscle development. Initial water retention occurs inside muscle cells as part of the mechanism that stimulates muscle protein synthesis. It’s not cosmetic bloating.

What New Research Shows About Creatine, Perimenopause and Menopause

TheCONCRET-MENOPA randomized controlled trial, published in the Journal of the American Nutrition Association, was the first double-blind RCT to specifically test creatine in perimenopausal and menopausal women. Across 36 participants over eight weeks, a medium dose of 1,500mg per day of creatine HCl improved reaction time by 6.6 percent versus 1.2 percent with placebo and increased frontal brain creatine levels by 16.4 percent.

A separate July 2025 study from St. Olaf College of 15 peri and postmenopausal women found significant increases in lower body strength and positive improvements in sleep quality in perimenopausal women, a benefit not typically associated with the supplement.

Why Creatine and Brain Health Are Now Being Talked About Together

As estrogen declines during perimenopause, creatine stores in the brain can fall precisely when the brain needs them most.Research reported by ScienceDaily in May 2026 on new Taylor & Francis findings noted creatine may support memory, mood and cognitive speed, especially in people with lower baseline levels. The CONCRET-MENOPA trial’s 16.4 percent increase in frontal brain creatine is the first human evidence of its kind in menopausal women.

It’s the same mechanism Halle Berry has pointed to, telling her podcast audience she thought she’d “never” take creatine, associating it with bulking, but now takes it daily and credits it for helping her think more clearly during menopause.

Is Creatine Safe for Women to Take Long Term?

A comprehensive 2025 analysis of 685 clinical trials found no significant differences in side effect rates between placebo and creatine groups, per the JISSN review. The CONCRET-MENOPA trial reported no severe adverse effects in perimenopausal and menopausal women. Readers with kidney concerns or who take other medications should check with a clinician before starting.

How Much Creatine Women Should Actually Take

The standard recommendation is 3 to 5 grams per day of creatine monohydrate, with no loading phase required. Creatine HCl shows specific promise for cognitive benefits in menopausal women at lower doses of 750 to 1,500mg per day per the CONCRET-MENOPA results. Timing matters less than consistency, according to the JISSN review. Daily intake over weeks and months is when the muscle, strength and cognitive effects tend to show up.

Paramount+’s ‘Landman’ Season 3 Gets Promising New Update From Returning Director

Published

on

Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris in 'Landman' Season 2.

Taylor Sheridan’s TV empire does not seem especially interested in slowing down, which is probably bad news for anyone trying to keep up with the man’s production calendar. One of his biggest Paramount+ hits has already been renewed, and now it sounds like the next season is moving quickly behind the scenes. That’s a relief for fans who were worried they might be waiting a long time to get back to the oil fields, family chaos, corporate knives, and Billy Bob Thornton looking like the only adult in a burning building.

Landman Season 3 has received a promising update from returning director Stephen Kay, who confirmed that the team is already editing the new episodes while filming is underway. Speaking at The Hollywood Reporter’s Directors in Focus event, Kay said, “We’re cutting while we’re shooting and so it’ll hopefully be out soon.” That doesn’t give fans an exact release date, but it does suggest that the Paramount+ drama is being built with the same speedy turnaround that has powered several of Sheridan’s recent shows.

The first two seasons also established a very useful rhythm. Season 1 premiered in November 2024, Season 2 arrived in November 2025, and Season 3 is already in motion. If the show can maintain that pattern, a late 2026 return would make a lot of sense, though Paramount+ has not officially announced a premiere date yet. No need to start engraving the oil rig calendar just yet.

There’s plenty more drama to come, though. With Tommy’s firing from M-TEX at the tail end of Season 2, Cooper’s narrow escape from the law, Angela and Ainsley… existing, there’s so many more things to go wrong down in Midland, Texas.

Someone crosses a line. How do you respond?
Every Sheridan protagonist has a line. What matters is what happens after it’s crossed.

04

Where do you feel most in your element?
Sheridan’s worlds are as much about place as they are about people.

05

How do you feel about operating in the grey?
Nobody in a Sheridan show has clean hands. The question is how they carry the dirt.

06

What are you actually fighting to hold onto?

⚖️
Mayor of Kingstown

You are a Dutton — or you might as well be. You understand that some things are worth protecting at any cost, and that the modern world’s indifference to history, to land, to legacy, is not something you’re willing to accept quietly. You lead from the front, you carry your family’s weight without complaint, and when someone threatens what’s yours, you don’t escalate — you finish it. You’re not cruel. But you are absolute. In Yellowstone’s world, that combination of ferocity and loyalty doesn’t make you a villain. It makes you the only thing standing between everything that matters and everyone who wants to take it.

You thrive in the chaos of high-stakes negotiation, where the money is enormous, the margins are thin, and the wrong word in the wrong room can cost everyone everything. You’re a fixer — the person called when a situation is already on fire and needs someone with the nerve to walk into it. West Texas oil country rewards exactly what you are: sharp, adaptable, unsentimental, and absolutely clear-eyed about what people want and what they’ll do to get it. You’re not naive enough to think this world is fair. You’re smart enough to be the one deciding who it’s fair to.

You are a Dwight Manfredi — someone who has served their time, paid their dues, and arrived somewhere unexpected with nothing but their reputation and their wits. You adapt without losing yourself. You build loyalty through respect rather than fear, though you’re not above reminding people that the two aren’t mutually exclusive. Tulsa King is for people who are still standing when everyone assumed they’d be finished — who find, in an unfamiliar place, that they’re more capable than the world gave them credit for. You don’t need a throne. You build one, wherever you happen to land.

You carry the weight of a system that is broken by design, and you do it anyway — because someone has to, and because you’re the only one positioned to do it without the whole thing collapsing. Mike McLusky’s world is for people who are comfortable operating where there are no good options, only less catastrophic ones. You speak every language: law enforcement, criminal, political, human. That fluency makes you invaluable and it makes you a target. You’ve made your peace with both. Mayor of Kingstown belongs to people who understand that keeping the peace is not the same as being at peace — and who do the job regardless.

Fans Tease Kim Kardashian Over Her Met Gala Treat

Published

on

Kim Kardashian on the red carpet

Kim Kardashian brought legs and a seriously cinched waist to the 2026 Met Gala, but before she stepped onto the famous carpet, the reality star gave fans something else to talk about.

Ahead of the event, Kardashian shared an Instagram Story showing what appeared to be a chocolate-and-vanilla soft-serve cone covered in rainbow sprinkles, captioning the sweet snap, “Met Prep.”

The post had fans predicting that the reality TV star might pull a Lady Gaga-style stunt in “a dress made of ice cream.” Some also used the moment to joke about why Kardashian never seems to miss the Met.

On the day of the Met Gala, Kardashian gave fans a sweet glimpse into her pre-carpet routine by posting an ice cream cone on her Instagram Story.

Although it is unclear which creamery she visited, the business mogul opted for what looked like a chocolate-and-vanilla soft-serve twist served in a waffle cone. The frozen treat was also heavily coated in rainbow sprinkles, as seen in a photo published by Cinema Blend.

The moment stood out even more because of Kardashian’s past Met Gala preparation. A few years ago, she revealed that she had lost 16 pounds to fit into an iconic Marilyn Monroe dress.

Kardashian’s ice cream-themed IG Story gave social media plenty to chew on, both in the lead-up to and in the aftermath of the Met Gala. Ahead of the event, some wondered whether the treat was a hint at what she planned to wear.

“So, she’s showing up dressed as a ice cream cone with sprinkles?” one user pondered on X, with another one saying, “She’s gonna pull a Lady Gaga & arrive in a dress made of ice cream.”

Of course, not everyone was amused by Kardashian’s continued presence at fashion’s biggest night. One critic asked, “Can she skip the Met Gala at least for ONE year? Why do we have to see her every year?”

Kim Kardashian Put Her Legs On Display At The Met

Kardashian created her Met Gala outfit in collaboration with creative director Nadia Lee Cohen, British artist Allen Jones, and designer duo Whitaker/Malem.

The “KUWTK” star stepped out in a striking, form-fitting tangerine look that resembled armor fit for a warrior heading into battle. The outfit featured a high neckline, a corset-like structure across the torso, and a sculptural cone shape around the bust.

Attached to the look was a long, semi-sheer skirt panel that opened at the front, putting Kardashian’s legs on full display. She paired the ensemble with nude high heels, seemingly allowing the outfit to remain the center of attention.

Her hair was styled in long, voluminous blonde waves, giving the already dramatic look a goddess-like finish.

Kim Opened Up About Her Design Team

In a chat with Vogue, Kardashian gave fans an inside look at how her Met Gala outfit came together, beginning with her decision to reach out to Cohen to take the lead.

The creative director then recommended Allen Jones for the dress design, an idea Kardashian quickly embraced, as she had already been familiar with his work.

“I have seen his work referenced so many times by people in fashion, and I’ve always been a big admirer of his work,” the businesswoman said.

She also explained her belief that Jones could help create something truly unforgettable, possibly even rivaling her 11 previous Met Gala looks.

“Allen Jones would be iconic… Sexy. Classic. Cool. Innovative,” Kardashian added.

How Kim Kardashian’s Met Gala Look Was Designed

To design the dress, Jones repurposed a cast created for an unreleased film from the mid-1990s. The decision reportedly came from Kardashian’s desire to wear something original, rather than have her own body cast for the look.

From there, completing the outfit took a whopping three weeks. The process included the difficult task of sourcing fiberglass and painting the sculptural piece at an auto body shop.

For the leather skirt, Kardashian relied on the craftsmanship of artisans Patrick Whitaker and Keir Malem.

There was also one final twist in the creation process, and it came from Kardashian herself. The outfit was initially designed as a full-length body cast, but she ultimately chose to have it shortened into a bodysuit to allow for more movement.

Amanda Bynes

Amanda Bynes is making headlines once again after debuting a bold new appearance during a rare outing in Los Angeles. The former child star stepped out Tuesday, May 5, showing off vivid purple eyebrows, pairing the dramatic beauty change with freshly lightened blonde hair and a casual outfit that included faded jeans and a colorful graphic tee. The eyebrow transformation immediately drew attention, marking one of her most daring style changes in recent months.

Bynes wasn’t alone during the outing. She was joined by boyfriend Zachary Khan, and the pair shared a rare public PDA moment as they held hands while crossing the street after lunch. The couple reportedly began dating in late 2025.

In addition to the eyebrow makeover, fans also couldn’t help but notice Bynes’ visibly slimmer appearance. The actress has been open about her Ozempic journey over the past year, previously telling followers she was excited about her weight-loss progress and her goals moving forward. At one point, Bynes revealed she had lost 28 pounds after beginning Ozempic injections, later explaining she wanted to continue slimming down so she could feel “skinny and cute.”

Bynes has also spoken openly in recent years about the cosmetic procedures she’s undergone. In 2023, she confirmed she had undergone blepharoplasty surgery to remove excess skin from her eyelids, later saying the procedure significantly boosted her confidence.

She has also revealed getting lip fillers, continuing her ongoing transformation, and experimenting with her appearance. Now, with purple brows and platinum blonde hair, Bynes appears to be embracing yet another reinvention.

Amanda Bynes first rose to fame through her work on Nickelodeon, starring on hit shows like “All That” before landing her own breakout series, “The Amanda Show.” Both programs were created and produced by Dan Schneider, one of Nickelodeon’s most powerful figures throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s. Schneider was behind a string of massively successful children’s shows, including “Drake & Josh,” “iCarly,” “Zoey 101,” and “Victorious,” helping shape an entire era of teen television.

In recent years, however, Schneider has faced intense scrutiny following allegations regarding toxic workplace behavior during his time at Nickelodeon. Former child stars and employees accused him of verbal abuse, inappropriate conduct, and creating uncomfortable environments behind the scenes, claims that reignited public debate following the release of the “Quiet on Set” docuseries. Schneider has denied sexually abusing children.

After becoming a household name through “All That” and “The Amanda Show,” Bynes experienced a turbulent public downfall in the early 2010s that included legal troubles and erratic behavior.

In April 2012, the actress was arrested on suspicion of DUI after reportedly attempting to pass a police vehicle in West Hollywood and side-swiping the car with her BMW around 3 a.m. According to reports at the time, Bynes allegedly refused both a Breathalyzer and a drug test at the scene before being taken into custody. She was later released from jail after posting $5,000 bail.

Just two months later, Bynes was formally charged with driving under the influence related to the arrest, but instead of staying silent, she took her frustration straight to social media. “I don’t drink,” she famously tweeted at then-President Barack Obama. “Please fire the cop who arrested me. I also don’t hit and run. The end.”

Later that same year, Amanda Bynes found herself dealing with even more legal controversy following another traffic incident in Los Angeles.

In August 2012, Bynes allegedly rear-ended another driver on Ventura Boulevard, reportedly causing around $800 in damage. According to the other driver’s account to police, the actress allegedly left the scene without exchanging insurance information or waiting for officers to arrive.

Bynes, however, disputed that version of events, later claiming both parties had agreed the damage was minimal. She was ultimately charged with hit-and-run.

Melissa Barrera Has New Perspective On Film Making Following 'Scream' Firing

Paramount and Spyglass Media fired Melissa Barrera from “Scream 7” in November 2023. This came after the actress shared free Palestine messages on her social media. Now, years later, the movie was released in February 2026 to poor reviews but became the franchise’s best-performing film at the box office.

In a recent interview, the “Titanique” stage actress is opening up about her experience and questioning whether the horror film was as successful as the studio claims.

Variety interviewed Barrera in May 2026 to discuss not only her life and career post “Scream,” but also how she feels about the latest movie and the cast and crew who remained silent when she was seemingly being blacklisted.

During the discussion, the interviewer mentioned how “Titanique” included an unintentional nod to the horror franchise. When asked if she felt this was a small way for her to reclaim her work in the “Scream” universe, she said, “Yeah, a little bit.”

The actress went on, “The reality is that ‘Scream’ is always going to be a big part of me because it was two years of my life, it gave me a lot, and I’m grateful specifically to Matt [Bettinelli-Olpin] and Tyler [Gillett], who gave me that shot. That hasn’t been sour for me. They don’t have that power.”

After that, the reporter noted, “The seventh one sucked.” Barrera responded, “I know. And I think they lied about the numbers. I don’t think it made that much money.”

Elsewhere in the interview, the topic of the “Scream 7” cast came up. Specifically, it was mentioned that some actors who had appeared in previous films had returned following her firing. Though not mentioned, the most notable name is Neve Campbell.

When asked if she felt those actors had “crossed the picket line,” Barrera responded, “Oh, one hundred percent. I think they all are. And they have to live with that. The only way they were able to make that movie after what happened was to nostalgia-bait as much as possible.”

Following Barrera’s discussion about “Scream 7,” especially saying she thinks the studio faked its box office success, fans are reacting. Of course, many are on her side, claiming that her social media posts were intended to support a cause, not to spread hate.

One person wrote, “And she’s absolutely correct. Anyone involved in making the movie and especially anyone who went to watch and support it are morally bankrupt and a sad excuse for a human being, IDC!
WE STAND WITH MELISSA BARRERA TODAY AND ALWAYS!”

Someone else said, “I remember reading about studios inflating box office numbers back in the 90s. Wonder if that’s still happening today with all the streaming services involved.” A different social media user then said, “Money or no money, the movie was garbage. They can’t lie about that.”

However, several social media users, especially on X, had differing opinions. One detractor noted, “I continue to be disappointed and disgusted by Melissa’s blatantly unprofessional and outrageous statements — and now conspiracy theories!!!”

A different person wrote, “Can’t lie about box office now, there are tons of publicly traded companies involved with digital accounting. The last big movie to lie about the box office was…SCREAM. The original. LOL. (Studios in the mid-90s would fudge numbers to cross $100M domestic).”

Lastly, someone else said, “Acting as if scream 5 wasn’t the definition of nostalgia bait.”

In the months leading up to the release of “Scream 7,” it was uncertain if the movie would match the success of previous films in the franchise. This is especially the case as many in the fandom vowed to boycott the movie due to Barrera’s exclusion.

However, according to Deadline, the Campbell-led film opened with $65 million, making it the highest-grossing film in the 30-year franchise. Per BoxOfficeMojo, it has since surpassed $207 million, a high feat for a horror movie.

Much changed for Barrera amid her firing from “Scream 7.” One of the blows she endured was being dropped by her talent agency, WME. However, things have begun to turn around for the actress. In 2025, she starred in Peacock’s “The Copenhagen Test.” Sadly, in April 2026, the series was canceled.

Additionally, Playbill announced in February 2026 that she would star in Broadway’s “Titanique” as Rose DeWitt Bukater. The show officially opened in March and has been a success so far. It’s scheduled to run at the St. James Theatre until September.

Per IMDb, she has two projects in post-production, “The Collaboration” and “Black Tides.”
