Metal band’s post dropping members for affair and ‘disgusting reasons’ blows up

A local New Jersey band has gone viral after its post seeking replacement group members, having been forced to drop two for ‘unforeseen and disgusting reasons’, was served up on millions of users’ feeds.

Reign were communicating with their loyal fanbase of a couple of thousand followers on Instagram this past week, only to see the post unexpectedly reach over two million accounts, all around the world, on the platform.

And the band’s messy drama fascinated many who were unintentionally reading about the fallout, with several comparing it to Fleetwood Mac’s legendary spats and tangled love lives once further details were revealed.

‘Due to unforeseen and disgusting reasons, Ryan and Aubrey are no longer in Reign. Their actions in zero way are a reflection of the morals of the band and everyone who is involved with the band,’ the original post began, written on behalf of remaining members, guitarists CJ and Aiden, and drummer Cork.

‘The things going on behind the scenes that were brought to the light was simply unacceptable and THAT is the honest and genuine truth. Now that we look to the future we are looking for a new vocalist and bassist because this is 100% not the end of this band and we plan to move the same way as before,’ the statement continued, promising further details in a future post.

However, the details that Reign ended up sharing first were about Ryan and Aubrey’s transgressions – and the updates had people locked in.

A further comment from the band, adding ‘context for those who ask/assume the wrong stuff’ then explained: ‘Aubrey cheated on our drummer (Cork) with Ryan months ago and kept the relationship a secret for months.

‘As soon as we found out we decided it was best to kick out both members because at the time (Tuesday) they were still together and were persistent on being a thing. We kicked them because these are supposed to be people that we can trust and the fact they did that to our drummer was enough for us to do what we did (that’s not the only reason).’

The comment then touched on darker territory, alluding to ‘other horrific things that Ryan has done to other women’ coming to light, meaning that the band want ‘absolutely nothing to do with him whatsoever’.

In another comment after questions clearly sprang up in the wake of the last one, Reign’s account added: ‘We feel the need to make it clear. The reason Aubrey is not in the band is because of how the relationship with her and Cork (our drummer) ended (which we didn’t know how until Tuesday).’

‘We have been talking to her (and she fully understands why she’s not in the band) because of course we still care about her and want the best for her,’ the group promised, before clarifying that Aubrey was ‘no longer associated with Ryan after seeing all of the awful things about him that have come to the light’.

‘This is a wild first post to see from a band I’ve never heard of,’ observed Alex Mulder in a comment that attracted over 37,000 likes.

‘Instagram just be dropping me off anywhere,’ quipped @belladonnapaniic, attracting another 33,000 likes while Alicia added: ‘Well damn now I gotta stick around to see the new band even tho I never knew the old one.’

‘We have always stood with and supported @bandreignofficial ever since the very first post of theirs that we came across,’ announced group Allbrook Station. ‘Which is this one.’

‘Well that’s one way to find a new band to listen to,’ chimed in Dominik Knoll.

‘To everyone new here that’s never heard of us. We seriously have no f**king clue why this is blowing up the way it is,’ shared Reign in a later post, before revealing a snapshot of the account’s dashboard and the 1.4 million accounts the post had reached.

It also got them 191,527 profile visits and 3,626 new followers at the time of sharing.

‘A whole lotta drama I never knew I needed, my algorithm is absolutely wild,’ replied content creator account Lucie Woos, before echoing what many others had pointed out: ‘I’m glad something good came out of this for your band and more people know you exist.’

‘I’m excited to give you guys a listen once you get the situation figured out!’ responded Alex in the original thread.

Reign, which formed in 2022, is booked to play Chaos & Carnage at nightclub Reverb in Reading, Pennsylvania, and is seemingly determined to press ahead with the gig.

‘Unfortunately we don’t have a bassist and vocalist anymore (CHAOS IS STILL HAPPENING DON’T WORRY) so please hit us up and share this all over,’ the band shared on a post seeking its new members.

What did John Worboys do and where is he now as ITV release true crime drama Believe Me

Published

on

Manchester Evening News

Playing the role of the criminal in the new drama is Line of Duty’s Daniel Mays

ITV are releasing a new crime drama titled Believe Me, but what did John Worboys do and where is he now?

The four-drama premieres on ITV1 and on ITVX at 9pm on Sunday night (May 10). It marks another major drama in a year where the station has also released David Morrissey’s Gone, Natalie Dormer’s The Lady and the second series of Red Eye.

Known for their hard-hitting productions, Believe Me may be one of the biggest shows of the year for ITV. It follows one of the UK’s most notorious criminals of the 21st century.

The series synopsis reads: “Believe Me tells the story of how the victims of one of the most prolific sex attackers in British history were failed by the system.”

Dubbed the ‘black cab rapist’, Worboys, preyed on women under the cover of being a ‘respectable’ licensed taxi-cab driver. He was convicted in 2009 for crimes including sexual assault and drugging with intent against twelve women between 2006 and 2008.

The cases were selected from a large number of suspected further victims. Worboys would pick women up in his cab after they’d been on a night out and claim that he’d had a win at a casino or on the lottery.

From here, he would persistently offer them a drug-laced glass of champagne to help him ‘celebrate’. Police believe his reign of terror saw him attack more than 100 women in London.

Worboys pleaded not guilty to all counts brought against him, at the beginning of his trial in 2009. Fourteen of the women he attacked testified against him in court.

He was convicted at Croydon Crown Court on March 13, 2009 of one count of rape, five sexual assaults, one attempted assault and 12 drugging charges, committed from July 2007 to February 2008. He was cleared of two counts of drugging.

Worboys received an indeterminate sentence for public protection with a minimum term of 8 years. A decision to release Worboys in 2018 was reversed by the Parole Board after widespread public outcry, which prompted other victims to come forward.

Following new victims coming forward against him for crimes dating between 2000 and 2008, Worboys pleaded guilty to further charges of administering stupefying drugs with intent to commit a sexual offense. This time the judge, handed him im two additional life sentences with a minimum six-year term.

Now 68, Worboys, remains in prison. He lost his appeal against his sentence, at a hearing with three judges in London in February 2021. Playing Worboys in Believe Me is Daniel Mays, best known for playing PS Danny Waldron in the BBC crime drama Line of Duty. The series follows three women who spoke out against him.

An ITV spokesperson said: “The drama focuses on the ordeal of Sarah and Laila, who reported sexual assaults by Worboys, and how the Metropolitan Police failed to thoroughly investigate their allegations, leading them to feel that they were just not believed.

“We see what countless women say they have to go through after reporting being raped, the indignity of multiple interviews and intimate evidence gathering, and how they can face skeptical lines of questioning from the police. For instance, Laila was even asked by an officer if her red nail varnish was indicative of her character.

“Believe Me will relate how the Met’s failings effectively left Worboys free to commit assaults undetected for many years; following his trial came the realisation that he was linked to allegations of further sexual offences against over a hundred women.“

Why supplements aren’t a shortcut to healthy ageing

Why supplements aren’t a shortcut to healthy ageing

The use of dietary supplements has increased sharply in recent years. Vitamins, minerals and other nutritional products are often marketed as simple ways to boost energy, support immunity, protect brain health or even promote longevity. For many people, taking supplements can feel like a sensible, proactive health habit.

But this perception can be misleading. For people who already have adequate nutrition, many supplements offer little or no measurable benefit. Some are simply an unnecessary expense. Others are not risk-free: high doses of certain vitamins and minerals can cause toxicity, interfere with medications or produce unintended health effects.

À lire aussi :
Vitamin D deficiency is widespread – but overusing supplements can also be dangerous

For older adults, however, the picture is more complicated. The most useful question is not simply whether supplements are “good” or “bad”, but whether someone is actually deficient, what might be causing that deficiency and whether a supplement is the safest way to address it.

Nutritional deficiencies become more common with age. Appetite may decrease, oral health can worsen, chronic illnesses become more common and many older people take medicines that affect how nutrients are absorbed, used or cleared from the body. Oral health problems, including tooth loss, gum disease and poorly fitting dentures, can also make chewing difficult and reduce dietary variety.

Later life is often surrounded by unhelpful food messages: eat less, lose weight, avoid “heavy” meals, stick to soft foods. But these messages can collide with the body’s continuing need for protein, vitamins and minerals. Over time, small meals, soups, toast and tea can become a diet that fills the stomach without meeting nutritional needs.

À lire aussi :
Millions of older people don’t get enough nutrients – how to spot it and what to do about it

This does not mean every older person needs supplements. It means supplementation should be targeted: based on confirmed deficiencies, clear risk factors, medication use or evidence that someone is not getting enough from food.

Vitamin B12 is one of the clearest examples. B12 deficiency becomes more common with age, partly because the stomach may produce less acid, which is needed to release B12 from food. Low B12 can cause anaemia, fatigue, nerve problems, numbness or tingling, and sometimes memory problems or confusion. Certain medicines, including metformin and proton pump inhibitors, can increase the risk further. High-dose oral B12 often works well, although some people need injections.

Folate is also important, especially for red blood cell formation and DNA production. Low folate can raise homocysteine, a blood marker that has been associated with cardiovascular disease and cognitive decline, though this does not prove that folate supplements prevent either. Folate or other B vitamins may help selected groups, such as people with low folate or B12 status, raised homocysteine or mild cognitive impairment. But B12 deficiency should be considered before folate is prescribed on its own, because folate can improve some blood signs of B12 deficiency while nerve damage continues.

Vitamin D is another common concern. Deficiency is more likely in older adults with limited sun exposure, reduced mobility, darker skin, care-home residence or diets low in vitamin D-rich foods. Supplementation may be appropriate when levels are low, sun exposure is limited, or someone has osteoporosis, recurrent falls or high fracture risk. But more is not automatically better. A large trial found that vitamin D supplementation did not significantly reduce fracture risk in generally healthy midlife and older adults who were not selected for deficiency.

Calcium and magnesium matter for bone, muscle and nerve function, but where possible they should come from food. Supplements may be useful when dietary intake is insufficient or osteoporosis is present, but excessive intake should be avoided. Magnesium is often promoted for sleep, but evidence for routine use as an insomnia treatment remains limited.

Multivitamins can be useful for older adults who eat very little or have poor dietary variety, but they should not be treated as nutritional insurance for everyone. In a large study of three US cohorts, daily multivitamin use was not associated with a lower risk of death. Other research is exploring whether multivitamins may affect markers of biological ageing, but it remains unclear whether this translates into better health, independence or lifespan.

One of the most overlooked “supplements” in later life is not a vitamin at all, but protein. Many older adults eat too little protein or avoid protein-rich foods such as meat, fish, eggs, dairy, beans or lentils. Low intake can contribute to sarcopenia, the age-related loss of muscle mass and strength, increasing the risk of falls, frailty and loss of independence. Expert groups commonly recommend around 1.0 to 1.2 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight per day for healthy older adults. Higher intakes are sometimes needed during illness, frailty or recovery, unless someone has been advised to restrict protein because of kidney disease or another condition.

Unsupervised or excessive supplementation can be harmful. High doses of vitamin D or vitamin A can cause toxicity. Iron should not be taken without confirmed deficiency unless advised by a healthcare professional. Some supplements interact with medicines. And evidence reviews have found that some high-dose antioxidant supplements, particularly beta-carotene and vitamin E, may increase mortality risk in some populations.

A sensible approach begins with food, not pills. That means looking at appetite, weight change, chewing or swallowing problems, dietary variety, medical conditions, medication use and whether someone has enough support to shop, cook and eat well. Blood tests may be needed, particularly for vitamin B12, folate, iron and vitamin D.

Older adults who follow healthy diets accumulate chronic diseases more slowly – new study

Evidence does not support universal supplementation for all older adults. But targeted use of vitamin D, vitamin B12, folate and, in some cases, a multivitamin or protein supplement can help when deficiencies or low intake are present.

Supplements can have a role in healthy ageing, but they are not a shortcut. The foundations are still balanced nutrition, strength exercise, adequate sleep, social connection and access to good food. The best supplement is the one that answers a real need, not the one with the loudest promise on the label.

Celtic eye own fairytale as Hearts’ story continues to captivate

Published

Daizen Maeda scored twice as Celtic beat Rangers to move within a point of Hearts

And his team is improving at the right time. Bang in the middle of it is Maeda.

He’s not repeated his imperious goalscoring of last season, or looked all that happy at various times over the last 10 months having had a move to Germany cancelled amid the slapstick antics of what passes for Celtic’s recruitment department.

In April, though, he ended a run of 17 games without a goal – last season he never went more than six without scoring. Most lately, there’s been a sense of a gathering force. The hustling and harrying, the scarcely human work-rate, the big-time mentality – it was all key to the win over Rangers.

And the goals. When Celtic needed him most, Maeda was there for them. Two in a 3-1 win over Falkirk, one in a 2-1 win over Hibs and now the critical two in the 3-1 win over Rangers that puts them in Hearts’ slipstream.

At the break, the derby was in the balance at 1-1. It was tempestuous stuff. Frantic and enthralling. Chances at both ends. What happened next was no surprise. It was the most predictable thing.

Celtic have not been a good team this season, but they’ve shown a lust for battle, an ability to keep playing and winning even when their performances have never risen above the mundane.

It was a racing certainty that Celtic would remain in the fight. Rangers? It was almost as certain that they would go down and, pretty much, stay down.

Maeda landed the blows. Eight minutes into the new half and Kieran Tierney ran off James Tavernier, whose only answer to his counterpart’s run was to stick his arm in the air and hope for offside. That’s your Rangers captain.

The Cambridgeshire level crossing dubbed the ‘most haunted’ in Britain

Published

on

Cambridgeshire Live

People have said they’ve seen the ghost of a colonel and his dog at the crossing

Whether you believe in ghosts or not, many people have tales of spooky experiences. In Cambridgeshire, there are many places and sites believed to be haunted by ghostly spirits.

One of the most terrifying ghostly tales is at Conington level crossing near Peterborough. This has been dubbed as “Cambridgeshire’s crossing of death” and also considered “most haunted” crossing in Britain. According to local legend, the crossing is haunted by the ghost of a colonel and his dog.

It’s believed the colonel and his pet died in an accident on the crossing in the 1940s. Known as Colonel Mellows, he and his Labrador were struck by a “powerful” train at the crossing.

The story is the colonel was heading home with his friend Mr Percival. When his friend got out of the car to open the gates but while crossing, a train hit the colonel and his dog.

It’s believed the colonel and his dog were buried beside the track, and their ghosts appear now and then. People have reported hearing yelling or crying, while others have said they’ve seen a phantom car trying to use the crossing, but then disappearing.

There was another notable accident in the 1940s. One involved a truck, carrying German prisoners of war, which was struck by lightning. Six of the prisoners on the lorry died in the accident.

In the first half of the 20th century, it was considered an almost “impossible task” to not sustain an injury when going past the crossing. The crossing is set on a narrow road, and it has been referred to as the “most atmospheric crossing in Britain”, according to Essex Ghost Hunters.

However, vast improvements have been made to the crossing to make it much safer than it was all of those years ago.

China’s ability to weather Trump’s trade war was two decades in the making

China’s ability to weather Trump’s trade war was two decades in the making

As Xi Jinping prepares to host Donald Trump for a delayed summit in Beijing on May 14-15, a lot has changed since the US president’s last visit to China in November 2017. Trump’s first trade war with China began in earnest the following year, ushering in a new era of trade tensions between the world’s two largest economies.

Trump will travel to Beijing in the wake of a US Supreme Court ruling in February that struck down his “Liberation Day” tariffs. The Trump administration responded by imposing a 10% universal tariff on all goods coming into the US, but it’s time limited to 150 days under US law and will expire on July 24. Since the ruling, both China and the US have also launched investigations into each other’s trade practices.

Before the Supreme Court ruling, the effective tariff rate on Chinese goods into the US was 47%. Now, researchers at Yale put the effective tariff rate at between 19-24%. The range reflects different scenarios for what might happen after July, and factors in tariffs on other goods, such as steel, aluminium and copper, not covered by the ruling.

And yet, amid all the tit-for-tat on tariffs, China reported a record trade surplus in 2025 of US$1.2 trillion. How did it manage it?

In this episode of The Conversation Weekly podcast, we speak to economist Jiao Wang at the University of Sussex, about how decisions China took over the past two decades, meant it was able to protect itself from the worst of Trump’s trade wars.

Wang explains that while the direct trade between the US and China fell sharply in 2025, “it was more than compensated by the increase in trade to other part of the world. We already observed this great reallocation in the first trade war, and then in the second trade war, the conclusion is it becomes even more prominent.”

She traces the history of this great reallocation to understand what moves China made to decouple its economy from the west, and the strategy its now pursuing on global trade.

Northern Ireland weather for week ahead as mixed bag of conditions expected

Published

on

Belfast Live

It follows sunny spells and a return to Spring temperatures over the weekend

After a relatively dry and sunny weekend, the week ahead is set to be more of a mixed bag across Northern Ireland.

The Met Office forecast for the region shows a mix of sunshine, rain showers, and wind, with temperatures turning “rather cold” for a time by the middle of the week.

It comes as we experienced a return of sunny spells and Spring temperatures over the weekend, after parts of the country experienced the coldest May night in five years last week.

READ MORE: Northern Ireland’s weather week as UK is forecast 30 hours of wintry showersREAD MORE: Warning over dangerous viral squishy toy trend causing severe burns to children

Across the UK, weather maps have suggested there could be a 30 hour period of uninterrupted wintry precipitation in the week ahead.

However, Northern Ireland is forecast to escape the worst of these colder conditions, with the wintry weather set to stay on the other side of the Irish Sea.

Here is what you can expect from the weather in Northern Ireland this week.

Monday:

Any remaining overnight rain in south soon clearing the a dry day with some good spells of sunshine. Cloudier again in evening with a little rain in west. Maximum temperature 13 C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Early rain on Tuesday then sunny spells and showers. Rather cold Wednesday with heavy showers and occasionally strong northwesterly winds, the showers and winds easing on Thursday.

Long-range forecast, May 15 – 24:

Changeable and at times rather unsettled conditions look to dominate through the middle part of May, with low pressure often close by. This means periods of rain or showers, some of which could be heavy, for many places, though some drier interludes are also expected.

For the most part, temperatures are likely to be close to or perhaps a little below normal, with winds often blowing from a northwesterly quadrant. By the end of this period, pressure may increase towards the southwest, which could bring more in the way of dry weather here.

Nobel laureate Mohammadi is transferred to a Tehran hospital

Nobel laureate Mohammadi is transferred to a Tehran hospital

BEIRUT (AP) — Nobel Peace laureate and activist Narges Mohammadi has been transferred to a Tehran hospital more than a week after collapsing in prison, her foundation said Sunday.

Her transfer comes after days of pleading by her family and others who described her condition as critical. Her foundation said she has been granted a prison sentence suspension on bail. It was not clear for how long her sentence is suspended, the foundation said.

Mohammadi had been imprisoned since December in Zanjan prison. She lost consciousness twice and was transferred to a local hospital on May 1.

A statement from her foundation, shared with The Associated Press, said the suspended sentence is not enough and that Mohammadi needs “permanent, specialized care.”

The statement added that “we must ensure she never returns to prison to face the 18 years remaining on her sentence. Now is the time to demand her unconditional freedom and the dismissal of all charges.”

Mohammadi’s Iran-based lawyer Mostafa Nili said on social media the transfer order was issued following the decision of the Legal Medicine Organization — government-appointed medical examiners — “which stated that, due to her multiple illnesses, she needs to continue treatment outside prison and under the supervision of her own medical team.”

There was no immediate comment from Iranian authorities.

Mohammadi’s brother Hamidreza Mohammadi, who is based in Oslo, Norway, had said medical examiners previously recommended her transfer to Tehran but the decision was blocked. He blamed Iran’s intelligence agency.

“I’m relieved now. I can breathe lightly,” her brother told the AP in a message.

The 53-year-old rights activist and champion of women’s rights was awarded the Nobel in 2023 while in prison and has been jailed repeatedly throughout her career. Her current imprisonment began when she was arrested in the northeastern Iranian city of Mashhad.

Mohammadi’s family said her health had been deteriorating in prison, in part because she was heavily beaten during her arrest. She had a heart attack in March and has a blood clot in her lung since before her imprisonment that needs blood thinners and monitoring to manage it.

Since being taken to the Zanjan hospital’s cardiac care unit, Mohammadi’s blood pressure had been swinging between extremely low and extremely high, and she was receiving oxygen to breathe and can’t talk, according to her brother.

The Nobel committee had called on Iranian authorities to immediately transfer Mohammadi to her dedicated medical team in Tehran, saying that “without such treatment, her life remains at risk.”

Gary Oldman returns to stage in Krapp’s Last Tape

Gary Oldman returns to stage in Krapp's Last Tape

The one-act play, which was originally performed at York Theatre Royal will run until Saturday (May 30) at London’s Royal Court Theatre.

The play centres on Krapp, a solitary, ageing man who spends his 69th birthday reminiscing about his younger self – whose dreams and ambitions never materialised.

The character’s painful self-reflection is mirrored by his attempts to record a new tape, shrouded in the torments of his memories.

Gary Oldman, who himself began his long esteemed acting career at York Theatre Royal, will play the role of Krapp as part the play’s 70th anniversary season.

It came after the actor starred and directed in the play in York in May 2025.

Speaking about this, CEO of York Theatre Royal, Paul Crewes, said: “Working with Gary on our production of Krapp’s Last Tape was remarkable and we are delighted that even more people will get the opportunity to see his extraordinary performance in this landmark play.

“It was first performed at the Royal Court 67 years ago and it’s so wonderfully fitting that it makes a return as part of their 70th anniversary celebrations.”

The London run will take place at the Royal Court’s Jerwood Theatre Downstairs.

Each performance will open with Godot’s To-Do List, a Beckett-inspired short play by Jerwood New Playwright Leo Simpe-Asante.

Scottish Premiership title race: Are Celtic favourites over Hearts?

Published

on

Martin O'Neill

Celtic captain Callum McGregor pointed out “it’s in our hands” after Sunday’s “huge win” over their city rivals.

Only defeat by Motherwell on Wednesday, combined with a Hearts win, will prevent a final-day showdown.

Nevertheless O’Neill believes Celtic still have “two mountains to climb” if he is to lead them to the Scottish title for a fourth time – and his first in 22 years.

“I’ve never been confident,” the 74-year-old Northern Irishman said. “People have said to me about momentum and momentum can get shifted at any given moment.

“We have to win because I would expect Hearts to win. We’ve a really difficult match at Motherwell, but I think the run that we’re on gives us confidence to compete.”

O’Neill would not be drawn on whether it would be his final Old Firm derby when asked if a league and cup double might persuade him to stay on at Celtic.

However, Lennon thinks giving the veteran a winning send-off will be another motivating factor for the players.

Hearts are unbeaten against Celtic this season, winning two of the three meetings, but Motherwell midfielder Andy Halliday also pointed to the O’Neill factor as potentially crucial.

“Of Celtic’s January signings, none are in the starting line-up,” the former Hearts and Rangers player said. “So what he’s done is make all the players Celtic already had at their disposal better.

“Celtic are on a five-game winning run. You talk about mentality and playing your best level at the right time and Celtic have hit theirs now.

“But Hearts, for 30 weeks in a row now, are just finding ways to win, so it’s going to be a very interesting finish.

“We were salivating for these post-split fixtures and they’ve been everything we hoped for. I don’t think that’s going to change.”
