20 Greatest War Movie Masterpieces of All Time, Ranked
War movies have a long-lasting effect on audiences. Cinema would not be the same without this iconic filmmaking style, as it’s one of the most acclaimed genres ever. With masterpieces that are timeless and memorable and have even reached the heights of winning Best Picture, the war genre is and will always be a go-to for anyone looking for a profound movie-watching experience.
Today, there’s no shortage of masterpieces in this genre. For over a hundred years, war movies have been at the forefront of entertainment and influencing our modern pop culture. There’s a list of war films from the last century, ranging from black-and-white classics to epic modern thrillers, that are considered some of the most legendary in the genre’s history. They’ve gripped us from beginning to end, made us excited or broken our hearts, and left us thinking. These are the 20 greatest war movie masterpieces.
20
‘Pan’s Labyrinth’ (2006)
The wildly talented mind behind The Shape of Water and The Devil’s Backbone, Guillermo del Toro, delivers his 2006 visionary war film Pan’s Labyrinth. A dark fantasy drama set during the brutal fascist Franco regime in 1940s Spain, it tells of an imaginative little girl, Ofelia (Ivana Baquero), as she goes on a remarkable journey through the mysterious fairy tale world of Pan’s Labyrinth to escape her oppressive home life and her sadistic military stepfather, Captain Vidal (Sergio Lopez).
It’s told with striking visuals, imaginative storytelling, and unique performances, all to make Pan’s Labyrinth a war film unlike any other. Its message is also powerful and complex, as it’s one of defiance, as we follow Ofelia using her imagination to stand up against Vidal and everything his regime stands for. Sergio Lopez particularly gives one of the most riveting villain performances in a war movie ever, as he perfectly captures the evil oppression of this time period. Overall, it’s a fantastical tale that feels truly inspiring.

‘Inglourious Basterds’ (2006)
Quentin Tarantino rose to the heights of filmmaking royalty in the 21st century, thanks in part to his remarkable, one-of-a-kind storytelling talents. One of his masterpieces, most people these days consider to be one of his greatest, is 2009’s Inglourious Basterds, a WWII action film that certainly doesn’t skimp out on the violence. Starring Brad Pitt and Christoph Waltz in an Oscar-winning supporting performance, it’s about a team of elite U.S. Army infiltrators as they go into occupied France to kill as many Nazi officers as possible.
Inglourious Basterds is a wild, bloody thrill ride full of riveting performances, Oscar-winning dialogue, and competent direction from Tarantino, who turns this film into one of his most revered masterpieces ever. It also holds nothing back, delivering a pulse-pounding and shockingly gory action story with intense shootouts and explicit violence that might be too much for some viewers. Honestly, it’s jam-packed with thrilling fun and is worth watching, especially for any WWII enthusiasts.
18
‘The Thin Red Line’ (1998)
After a 20-year hiatus, American visionary director Terrence Malick returned to the director’s chair to deliver one of the war genre’s most profound and reflective masterpieces. Released in 1998, The Thin Red Line is his grand contribution to war, a deep, incredibly emotional, and visually perfect drama set during WWII. Featuring an A-List cast of stars, including Nick Nolte, Jim Caviezel, and Adrien Brody, it follows several U. S. marines as they become deeply affected by the brutality of war while fighting during the Battle of Guadalcanal.
The Thin Red Line is told with the same philosophical storytelling and visceral, raw emotional performances that Malick’s films usually come with, but here, it elevates this war story into something truly profound. It looks absolutely timeless with its cinematography, and the locations used here perfectly capture the look and feel of the actual Guadalcanal battle. This film will move and completely grip viewers, prompting them to look inward and gain a different perspective on this truly devastating war.
17
‘Dunkirk’ (2017)
Innovative modern filmmaker Sir Christopher Nolan had a helping hand in keeping the war genre highly acclaimed in the 21st century. If 2017’s Dunkirk is anything to show, it’s that he’s one of the greatest talents this genre has ever seen. Set during the chaotic evacuation of Dunkirk, France, during the early months of WWII, it follows British soldiers and airmen as they desperately try to survive this brutal retreat.
Dunkirk is a visually stellar masterpiece, complete with Nolan’s penchant for going all out and making sure what audiences are seeing on screen was actually filmed in front of a camera. This actually goes out of its way to have as few CGI effects as possible, and there are actual explosions, plane stunts, and even a ship deliberately being sunk, all done for real to make the film look as believable as possible. As a result, this is one of the most visually striking war masterpieces of our current century.
16
‘Das Boot’ (1981)
There is no film that better represents the raw survival and brutal living conditions of submariners than the late Wolfgang Petersen‘s Das Boot. Hailed as one of the most frighteningly realistic war movies ever, it tells a unique perspective of WWII that isn’t often depicted, as it follows a German U-boat crew as most of them become disillusioned and tired of the war while serving on a dangerous patrol in the North Atlantic.
It’s Peterson’s sharp direction coupled with the emotional energy of the performances, not to mention the cramped, claustrophobic submarine setting, that’s made Das Boot one of the most timeless and intense war movies in history. Even now, this still leaves a deep impact on viewers, as its anti-war message is compelling, and its action is certainly pulse-pounding. Truly, there’s nothing else quite like this thrilling experience.
15
‘Patton’ (1970)
Directed by Franklin J. Schaffner, Patton is a 1970 biographical World War II drama detailing the life of one of the most controversial but capable U.S. military commanders in history, George S. Patton. George C. Scott gives an Oscar-winning performance as General Patton, following this legendary figure during his time during some of the most important battles of the war, from his march through North Africa to his army rolling into the Battle of the Bulge in Europe.
It’s a grand epic full of remarkable acting, gorgeous cinematography, and brilliant storytelling. Scott perfectly embodies this unique commander and how his bold methods made him such an unconventional but effective leader. Granted, its three-hour-long runtime might dissuade a few from watching it, but it’s a near-perfect masterpiece that looks incredible, has a stellar lead actor, and has a respect for history.
The 20th century’s most iconic filmmaker, Stanley Kubrick, has delved into the war genre a few times, and each time created an enduring masterpiece. Wanting to do his own take on the Vietnam War, he released Full Metal Jacket in 1987. This fan favorite anti-war genre has since become legendary in cinema for its powerfully gripping story and memorable dialogue. It follows several U. S. marines from their grueling training in boot camp to their fierce fighting in the streets of Hue City during the Tet Offensive.
It’s all told with Kubrick’s perfectionist style and his incredible attention to detail. There’s hardly any flaw to this war masterpiece, as it’s perfectly acted, written, and, of course, features Kubrick’s capable direction. Full Metal Jacket takes viewers into the intense world of the average American foot-soldier during this costly war, showing how dehumanizing its effects were and how the government stripped them of their identities to model them into killing machines.
13
‘The Bridge on the River Kwai’ (1957)
From Academy Award-winning director David Lean comes one of the most celebrated war classics, 1957’s The Bridge on the River Kwai. This Best Picture winner has steadily grown in popularity among war and especially WWII movie buffs, over the years for its gripping action and thrilling adventure feel. Sir Alec Guinness truly shone in his Oscar-winning role as a stubborn POW colonel who fought for the rights and pride of his fellow workers while assisting his Japanese oppressors in building a massive bridge over the Kwai River.
In terms of scale and production values, this masterpiece has others beat, as The Bridge on the River Kwai really lives up to its epic status. Despite its noticeable age, it’s visually flawless, and the camerawork and gorgeous cinematography help make it seem like it could have easily been made today. It is an absolutely timeless thrill ride that every war movie fan has to experience.
12
‘The Deer Hunter’ (1978)
Michael Cimino‘s Best Picture-winning Vietnam drama The Deer Hunter shows the devastating, heartbreaking psychological effects of war ever brought to the silver screen. A film guaranteed to leave you stunned by the very end, it tells the tragic story of three blue-collar small-town friends whose lives are horribly changed forever after serving in Vietnam.
It doesn’t sugarcoat or hold anything back on why conflicts, and especially the Vietnam War, have had untold damaging effects on people, both physically and mentally. The performances from the A-list cast are nothing short of incredible, as they all do phenomenal jobs. But it’s Christopher Walken‘s portrayal of the emotionally ruined Nick that was the biggest highlight, even earning him an Academy Award. With some of the best acting and most profoundly emotional moments, The Deer Hunter is a hard-to-watch but necessary war film.
11
‘Lawrence of Arabia’ (1962)
Arguably the most perfectly made war movie of all time, David Lean’s groundbreaking 1962 masterpiece Lawrence of Arabia is a grand tale that is timelessly thrilling. Telling the unbelievable true story of famed archeologist, explorer, and soldier T. E. Lawrence (played by Peter O’Toole), it follows this legendary figure as he helps lead the Arab kingdom to victory against the Ottoman Empire during World War I.
While it’s a heavily dramatized account of the real-life story, this epic still offers a remarkable piece of exciting history. It’s all told with riveting acting and Lean’s incredible direction. Of course, there’s no mentioning this film without gushing over the flawless cinematography, which has since aged incredibly well, making the film truly the most timeless in history.

Nancy Guthrie Missing: Everything to Know About the Ongoing Search
Questions still remain after Today show host Savannah Guthrie‘s mother, Nancy Guthrie, was reported missing.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the news on Sunday, February 1, sharing a missing person report via X. Nancy was described as a “vulnerable adult” who was last seen “at her residence” within Arizona’s Catalina Foothills area on the evening of Saturday, January 31. The report noted that it is “unknown what clothing she may be wearing.”
In additional coverage from local news station KOLD, it was revealed that a family member grew concerned about Nancy. (Along with Savannah, Nancy shared daughter Annie and son Camron with late husband Charles, who died at age 49 from a heart attack.)
According to Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, “concerning circumstances found” at Nancy’s home led to homicide detectives getting involved in the search. Savannah’s family confirmed in a statement that they are “working closely with local law enforcement.”
Keep scrolling for everything to know about the search for Nancy Guthrie:
When Did Nancy Guthrie Go Missing?

A family member called 911 to report Nancy was missing after she was last seen on January 31. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department later referred to Nancy as a “vulnerable adult.”
The sheriff later noted in a press conference that Nancy has “no cognitive issues at all.”
“She’s very alert, she’s of good, sound mind,” he said, adding Nancy is “not in good” physical health. “I hope we find her safe and sound, but we can’t ignore what’s in front of us.”
It was later revealed that Nancy takes daily medication and that missing a dose could be fatal.
When asked during a press conference on February 3 whether authorities were looking for someone who is “still alive,” Nanos replied, “We hope we are.”
Do Authorities Suspect Foul Play?
Nanos acknowledged there were “some concerns” about what was found at Nancy’s home. When asked whether foul play was suspected in Nancy’s disappearance, Nanos clarified that he was “not ruling it out.”

“We’ve pretty much just thrown everything at this that we can,” Nanos added as search and rescue and criminal investigation teams were called in to help. Drones, dogs and a helicopter were also being used to search for Nancy.
In a second press conference, authorities said they could tell Nancy “didn’t leave on her own” and they “don’t see this as a search mission as much” as a crime scene. “She couldn’t walk 50 yards by herself,” they added.
Has Savannah Guthrie Addressed Her Mom’s Disappearance?

Savannah did not appear on the Today show on Monday, February 2, amid the search for her mother. Cohosts Sheinelle Jones and Craig Melvin shared a statement on Savannah’s behalf.
“We want to get right to what is a deeply personal story for us,” Melvin said. “Nancy Guthrie, Savannah’s beloved mother, has been reported missing in Arizona.”
Savannah’s statement noted: “On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers, and messages of support. Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom. We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.”
Savannah later took to Instagram with a message asking fans for their prayers.
“We believe in prayer. we believe in voices raised in unison, in love, in hope. we believe in goodness. we believe in humanity. above all, we believe in Him,” Savannah wrote alongside a “Please Pray” graphic. “Thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant. Raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment.”
Savannah then added a bible verse, writing, “We need you. ‘He will keep in perfect peace those whose hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.’ a verse of Isaiah for all time for all of us.”
The NBC personality concluded, “Bring her home.”
What Has Savannah Guthrie Said About Her Mom on ‘Today’?
Savannah has often spoken about her mother — who even appeared in a segment on a November 2025 episode — on the NBC morning show.
“She’s lived a life of integrity and loyalty,” Savannah said about Nancy in 2022. “She is a consistent doer of the right thing and the hard thing. She’s a truth teller, whether you really want to hear the truth or not. She’s quick and she’s smart, she’s well-read, she’s curious about everything.”
Is There a Motive for Nancy Guthrie’s Disappearance?
In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Nanos said the authorities have not identified a motive, such as ransom, for Nancy’s disappearance.
“No, there’s not, we’ve not heard anything like that,” he said. “I wish somebody would call us and say, ‘Hey,’ because that’s what the family wants. They just want her back. ‘Hey, no questions asked, call us where to come and get her,’ And we’ll do that.”
Was Nancy Guthrie’s Disappearance Targeted?
“I think everybody, rightfully so, understands that her daughter Savannah is a national figure out there at least within the news media, and that’s always a possibility,” Nanos told Us. “But we’re not getting that sense, and we keep working with Savannah and her security team to understand any kind of threat or potential threat that they may have been working and we’re just not there.”
Was Blood Found in Nancy Guthrie’s Home After Her Disappearance?
Law enforcement sources told the Los Angeles Times on Tuesday, February 3, that blood had been found in Nancy’s home after she went missing. However, Nanos later clarified that this was not true.
“No, I’m not sure where that came from,” he said during a press conference. “Maybe I said something, and trust me, I’ve said a lot, talked to a lot of people. And some of those comments — on my fault, not the media — may have been distorted or taken out of context.”
Nanos continued, “We’re not confirming whether there was blood in the home or any of that. What we’re saying is we do have evidence that we submitted to DNA labs, actually, through other sources that we use, and they have confirmed that the DNA that we found was in fact, belonged to Nancy, Savannah’s mom, which we were hopeful that it would give us a different profile than just hers, but that’s where we’re at with the DNA. We have other items that we submit for DNA research and see what that comes up, but that was the first submittal we’ve got back, and we’ll continue to wait for lab results, see if we find something else.”
Despite previously denying that blood was found at the scene, Nanos confirmed in a February 5 press conference that blood found on the porch of Nancy’s home “came back” to her after being analyzed.
Nanos denied that there was evidence of forced entry at Nancy’s home.
Authorities Believe Nancy Guthrie Is in ‘Danger’
“We don’t want anybody to lose hope,” Nanos told Us. “But in the same sense, just as there’s hope, there’s also things that point to us that say, ‘This lady’s in danger.’”
Nanos continued, “It does have to do with what was described to us about the scene. I’ve been doing this for 50 years. When something doesn’t sit well, it doesn’t sit well. Something unusual at that house occurred that made us go, ‘Wow … something’s wrong here. Something doesn’t fit.’”
Is There a Reward for Information Related to Nancy Guthrie’s Disappearance?
“Reward up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons involved in the disappearance,” a statement from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department read on Facebook. “The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is seeking the public’s assistance with any information related to the disappearance of Mrs. Nancy Guthrie. She was last seen at her home near Skyline and Campbell around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2026.”
The statement concluded, “Any video and photograph information is strongly requested for evaluation and analysis of evidentiary value.”
Special agent Heith Janke later revealed during the press conference on February 5 that a $50,000 reward is being offered.
Savannah Guthrie Withdraws From Winter Olympics Coverage Amid Mom’s Disappearance
Savannah is no longer set to host the 2026 Winter Olympics ceremony amid mom Nancy’s disappearance.
“Savannah will not be joining us at the Olympics as she focuses on being with her family during this difficult time. Our hearts are with her and the entire Guthrie family as the search continues for their mother,” a spokesperson for NBC Sports told Us Weekly in a statement on February 3. “We will share additional information about our Opening Ceremony coverage plans soon.”
FBI Reviews Ransom Note in Nancy Guthrie’s Disappearance Case
Nanos told CBS News on February 3 that investigators have analyzed an alleged ransom note sent to a local news station in Arizona.
“It’s like any piece of evidence,” Nanos continued. “You give it to us, you give us a lead, we’re going to look at every aspect of that lead.”
The FBI shared the note with Savannah, according to the sheriff.
NBC News correspondent Liz Kreutz reported on February 4 that the sheriff’s department is aware of “unsubstantiated” ransom notes.
Janke confirmed that the FBI is aware of the ransom letter sent to news outlets, noting that “any action taken on any ransom is ultimately decided by the family.” He also revealed that the FBI arrested an “imposter” trying to “profit” off of the case with a separate, fake ransom note.
Janke noted that the alleged ransom note had an initial deadline of 5 p.m. on February 5. If that deadline was missed, the note offered February 9 as a second option.
Police Deny Having a Suspect in Nancy Guthrie’s Disappearance
An unverified report from former NewsNation host Ashleigh Banfield stated that Savannah’s brother-in-law and Annie’s husband, Tommaso Cioni, had been identified as a possible person of interest in the case. However, a statement from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department denied having any suspects.
“At this point, investigators have not identified a suspect or person of interest in this case. Detectives continue to speak with anyone who may have had contact with Mrs. Guthrie,” the statement read. “Detectives are working closely with the Guthrie family. While we appreciate the public’s concern, the sharing of unverified accusations or false information is irresponsible and does not assist the investigation.”
The statement concluded, “No suspect or person of interest has been identified at this time.”
Sheriff Believes Nancy Guthrie Is ‘Alive’ Amid Disappearance
Authorities remain hopeful that Nancy will be found alive.
“We have nothing else to go on but the belief that she is here,” Nanos told NBC’s Liz Kreutz in an interview aired on Today on February 4. “She’s present. She’s alive, and we want to save her.”
Nanos added, “The leads we’ve got coming in are critical to us. They’re valuable, and we’re sharing those with the FBI and others.”
What Has the Guthrie Family Said About the Alleged Ransom Note?
Savannah Guthrie and her siblings, Annie and Camron, broke their silence on the reports of an alleged random note.
“We too have heard the reports about a ransom letter in the media,” Savannah said in the clip. “As a family, we are doing everything that we can. We are ready to talk. However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her. We want to hear from you and we are ready to listen. Please, reach out to us.”
Sheriff Provides New Details About Timeline of Nancy Guthrie’s Disappearance
On January 31, Nancy traveled to a family dinner via an Uber around 5:32 p.m. local time, Nanos revealed on February 5. She was later dropped off by family at her home at 9:48 p.m. Authorities confirmed that the garage door closed at 9:50 p.m.
At 1:57 a.m. on February 1, Nancy’s doorbell camera was disconnected. Later, at 2:12 a.m., software detected something on camera, but footage is not available. Nanos stated that the movement may have been an animal.
Around 2:28 a.m., Nancy’s pacemaker app showed that the device had been disconnected from her phone.
Nancy’s family placed a 911 call around 12:03 p.m. on February 1. Shortly after, police arrived and began search-and-rescue protocol.
FBI Addresses ‘New Message’ Received From Alleged Kidnappers
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI released a joint statement on February 7, 2026, addressing a new message regarding Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance. Arizona station 13 News initially received the message and then forwarded it to law enforcement.
“The FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department are aware of a new message regarding Nancy Guthrie,” Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said in a statement. “Investigators are actively inspecting the information provided in the message for its authenticity.”
Nanos went on, “While this is one new piece of information, the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department are still asking anyone with tips to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI. The FBI continues to offer a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the recovery of Nancy Guthrie and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.”
Savannah Guthrie and Siblings Respond to New Message
One day after law enforcement received a new message allegedly related to Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, her children Savannah, Camron and Annie Guthrie offered to pay to bring their mother home.
“We received your message and we understand,” Savannah said in a new video shared via her Instagram on February 7, 2026, while holding hands with her siblings.
The Today host added, “We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us and we will pay.”

Mormon Wives’ Layla Taylor Confirms Split From Boyfriend Mason McWhorter
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Layla Taylor confirmed in a tearful TikTok video that she is “no longer” with her boyfriend Mason McWhorter.
“I don’t ever really come on my page and cry so this is already really hard for me to do,” Layla, 24, admitted to her TikTok followers on Saturday, February 7. “I’m on reality TV … and that feels safe for me to be open on, but for some reason, my page has always been really hard for me to be vulnerable on.”
The reality star felt it was important to “set the record straight” because she was “already seeing some comments that are not true” about the breakup. After confirming the split was “still super fresh,” Layla insisted that there was “no bad blood” between the former couple.
“I genuinely wish and want the best for Mason. Things just weren’t working out,” she explained. “I think we were just on two different paths right now. He felt in order for him to grow, he had to be on his own. And I respect his decision, and I truly hope that he gets what he wants in life.”
Layla said that her separation from Mason was particularly rough because he got close to her two sons, Ollie and Maxwell, after the pair started dating last summer. (Layla shares her sons with her ex-husband Clayton Wessel.)
“Mason was a really big part of me and my boys’ lives for the past almost year,” she acknowledged. “And we went through a lot in this last year, to be honest. But I’m grateful for everything, and I’m grateful he was a part of my life for how long he was.”
As she teared up again, Layla confessed, “I just really thought that I was gonna get the family that I wanted so badly.”
Layla thanked her fans for being “protective” of her, though she also encouraged everyone to be “nice and kind” to Mason.
“I still love him so much and I only want the best for him,” she concluded.
In November, Layla exclusively opened up to Us Weekly about where things stood with Mason as she was admittedly “so jaded from [her] ex-husband and that marriage.”

“Right now, I’m kind of scared of marriage but I just want to get to know somebody very well before I even consider that,” she told Us. “I’m just happy and content where me and Mason are. And if somehow that ever were to come up, then we would see.”
Many The Secret Lives of Mormon Lives viewers instantly recognized Mason when he went public with the Hulu star last year since he is the brother of Layla’s ex Chase McWhorter.
“We just laugh about it. I know it’s not the most ideal situation, dating brothers, but sometimes life gives you lemons,” Layla told Us in November. “You just have to make lemonade and it is what it is. It makes funny, awkward situations sometimes. But we just make light of it because there’s no avoiding it.”
At the time, Layla confirmed that she and Mason were “still together” and that “things [were] going really great” in their relationship.
“I’m really happy,” she beamed at the time. “He’s just my best friend. I feel like me and him just get along really well. We have a lot of similarities and our relationship just feels very natural and not forced. I don’t have to pretend to be somebody that I’m not with him.”
Meanwhile, Us learned in December that some key details from Layla’s divorce had been finalized. A Utah judge ruled that Layla and her ex-husband Clayton would share joint legal and physical custody of their two kids, while neither party was awarded alimony.
Layla and Clayton were married for nearly three years. Layla first filed for divorce in January 2024, though the court dismissed the case in March. She refiled on February 20, 2025.

According to an earlier report from The Blast, Hart recently opened up about her dramatic weight loss, explaining that she shed nearly 20 pounds after realizing that she “wanted to feel better” in her body.
The hard work wasn’t in vain either, as Hart said that focusing on her well-being allowed her to “feel stronger and better than I have in a really long time.”
Another reason her weight loss was such a big accomplishment was that she previously believed that she couldn’t lose weight due to “being in midlife and perimenopause.” Despite the changes to her body, though, Hart said that she experienced success after discovering “fasting and cutting sugars and cutting alcohol.”
This isn’t the first time that Hart has spoken about weight. In an early 2000s interview, the actress expressed fear about losing work if her body changed.
“I was extremely nervous about the weight because I was due in the middle of pilot season and here I am trying to get a new show on the air,” she said. “I have heard of people being fired from projects before for getting pregnant, and I was really worried,” she said.

Savannah Guthrie Tells Mother’s Abductors Family Will Pay Ransom, on Video
Instagram/@savannahguthrie
Savannah Guthrie and her family say they will pay the ransom for the return of their mother, Nancy.
The NBC anchor and her family released a video Saturday afternoon in which they directly address the people allegedly holding their mother captive … saying they received their message, and they will pay the demanded dollar figure.
Nancy was last seen when a family member dropped her off at her Tucson home on Saturday, January 31. We and several other news outlets received an alleged ransom note earlier this week which contained two deadlines.
The first deadline was Thursday at 5 PM which changed the alleged abductors demands. The second deadline is Monday, February 9.

Guthrie and her family previously asked for proof of life before they paid a ransom. It is unclear if they received such confirmation … but, this second video seems to indicate they feel these abductors are serious.
TMZ.com
On Friday, our own Harvey Levin broke down how far Nancy may have been taken showing a geographic area where her abductors may be holding her based on clues in the alleged ransom note we received.
As we’ve told you … Nancy is 84 years old and not in terrific health. She has a pacemaker and needs daily medication. It’s unclear if she’s receiving her pills.
Law enforcement officials have made it clear they have not identified a suspect, person of interest or vehicle connected to the crime. However, a man was arrested for allegedly sending fake ransom demands to the Guthries.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Went Dinosaur Bone Hunting with Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell
RFK Jr.
Epstein & I Looked For T-Rexs Together!!!
Published
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. certainly has some interesting hobbies … including dinosaur bone hunting — which he allegedly did with Jeffrey Epstein back in the day.
Among the numerous documents released by the Department of Justice related to the notorious pedophile recently were emails sent between Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell … in which he said he went dinosaur and fossile hunting with renowned paleontologist Jack Horner on a ranch.
Maxwell then asked Epstein, “Didn’t we go fossil hunting with him and Bobby Kennedy in N Dakota?” to which he replied yes.
It’s worth noting, this isn’t the first we’ve heard about the trip … Maxwell mentioned it when the DOJ interviewed her back in July — though she said she doesn’t remember Kennedy ever flying with them.
Kennedy also previously admitted he’d been on the trip with Epstein … revealing on Fox News in 2023 he flew on Epstein’s jet three times — including once with his then-wife Mary Richardson Kennedy and their four children to go “fossil hunting for a weekend.” He made it clear he never flew on the jet without his family.
Kennedy is far from the only celebrity mentioned in the most recent release of the so-called “Epstein Files” … with President Donald Trump, Jay-Z, Brett Ratner, Prince Andrew and more receiving mentions in the documents.
To be clear, Kennedy has not been accused of any wrongdoing in connection to Epstein … he was just an excited excavator!

Forgotten, Unseen Coen Brothers Comedy Is Their Most Polarizing Effort
By Robert Scucci
| Published

It’s never fun when brilliant filmmakers like the Coen brothers swing for the fences and miss. In the case of 2017’s Suburbicon, the fences are of the white picket variety, and George Clooney handled co-writing and directorial duties. The result of this collaboration is two completely different films jammed into one, making for an interesting experiment in social satire that never quite feels satisfying.
Suburbicon was originally penned by the Coen brothers shortly after Blood Simple made its rounds in 1985. The project was conceived as a murder mystery set in an idyllic suburb, but it took on a completely different tone once George Clooney became involved. Clooney’s contributions to the script include a storyline about a Black family moving into an all white neighborhood in the 1950s, and dealing with the kind of racial fallout you’d expect when their new neighbors don’t take too kindly to their presence.

While both stories are solid in their own right and very well could have succeeded as separate films, Suburbicon ultimately misses the mark because they never fully converge. The result feels like two separate movies limping past the finish line instead of effectively getting their points across.
A Murder Mystery And A New Family On The Block
The primary story in Suburbicon centers on the Lodge family. Gardner Lodge (Matt Damon) and his wife Rose (Julianne Moore) initially appear to be your typical American family. They project a happy marriage, and their son Nicky (Noah Jupe) is a picture-perfect child living in suburbia. Always present at the Lodge household is Rose’s identical twin sister, Margaret (Julianne Moore), who is romantically entangled with Gardner.

One night, hitmen Ira Sloan (Glenn Fleshler) and Louis (Alex Hassell) break into the Lodge residence, though their intent remains dubious at this point in the film. They chloroform the family to subdue them, but end up giving Rose, who is a paraplegic, a fatal dose, leaving Nicky without a mother. In the weeks and months that follow, Margaret begins dressing and acting like Rose, slowly infiltrating the Lodge family as if she had always been the matriarch.
The family is later brought into the police station to identify the men who destroyed their lives. Nicky is certain that the men who killed his mother are in the lineup. Gardner outright denies they are the same men, and Margaret follows suit. The entire situation doesn’t sit right with Nicky, and it is only a matter of time before the truth rears its ugly head.

Meanwhile, the Mayers family, who are Black, move into the Suburbicon subdivision and are met with immediate backlash. Nicky befriends Andy Mayers (Tony Espinosa), and the two get along just fine. Andy’s mother (Karimah Westbrook) and father (Leith Burke), however, are subjected to discrimination and cruelty from neighbors who want their community to remain all white. The racial tension ultimately boils over into a riot fueled by good old fashioned family racism, while the murder mystery at the Lodge residence continues to unfold with disastrous results.
Two Different Movies Trying To Be One
Both stories in Suburbicon work well on their own, but things get messy when they are forced together. The entire time I was watching the film, I kept waiting for both narratives to intersect in a meaningful way during the third act, and they technically do. However, that intersection feels forced through the film’s satire, resulting in a sloppy resolution. This is frustrating because the social commentary is all there, and the second and third acts could have been structured differently to tell a more cohesive story.

If the Coen brothers and George Clooney had wanted to fully commit to the satire and push Suburbicon into outright absurd territory, they could have pulled it off in the same way they did with O Brother, Where Art Thou?
A white family suffers a fatal home invasion at the same time a Black family moves into the neighborhood, even though we know the culprits behind the invasion are clearly white. The community then leans into racism by inventing a correlation and letting their imaginations spiral. We get traces of that idea in Suburbicon, but for it to land properly, the murder mystery would need to take the back seat.

By the same token, in order to fully explore the murder mystery, the racial commentary would need to be scaled back. Suburbicon suffers, and ultimately fails, because it does not know which lane to stay in, and even worse, it does not know when or how those lanes should intersect to create a sharp, effective satire that effectively explores both sides of the coin it’s tossing into the air.
Suburbicon boasts all the Coen brothers flair we have come to know and love over the decades, but it plays more like a proof of concept than a fully realized film. It never feels completely fleshed out. Instead, it comes across like their script was thrown into a blender with George Clooney’s, splattered onto a storyboard, and then rushed into production once Clooney said “action.”

As of this writing, Suburbicon is streaming for free on Pluto TV.

Cardi B Tips Robot Onto Herself While Giving A Lap Dance, Video
Cardi B
Men Are Always Throwing Themselves at Me …
Robots Do Too!!!
Published
TMZ.com
Cardi B might have turned a robot on too much … because it seemingly launched itself at her in San Francisco.
TMZ has obtained video of the star strutting out onto the streets of The City by the Bay Saturday … walking up to a robot and telling the assembled crowd she planned on giving the bot a lap dance.
Check out the video … Cardi pulls off a series of dance moves, runs her hands all over the metal and eventually getting in front of it to motion kissing its expressionless face.
While she’s leaning in for the kiss, the bot seems to come right at her … falling on her and earning a shriek from the rapper.
The robot seems to land between her legs — some clumsy flirting Stefon Diggs won’t be too happy about. Cardi’s able to get to her feet with some help from onlookers, and she appears uninjured … so all’s well that ends well.
Like we mentioned, Cardi’s in San Francisco to cheer on Stefon and his New England Patriots in the Super Bowl. They’re taking on the Seattle Seahawks … and, the game kicks off at 3:30 PM PT Sunday.
Bottom line … even AI wants Cardi’s WAP!!!

Why Brandi Carlile Said Yes to Super Bowl LX Gig As a Queer Artist
Singer Brandi Carlile is opening up about why she — as an openly gay artist — decided to sing “America the Beautiful” at Super Bowl LX despite the country’s turbulent and divisive political times.
“I have my own moral code, my own moral imperative, that I have to answer to at the end of the day, as a wife and a mother, and I believe in my ability and responsibility to do this, and that’s why I’m here,” Carlile, 44, told Variety in an interview published on Saturday, February 7.
“And the throughline to being queer and being representative of a marginalized community and being put on the largest stage in America to acknowledge the fraught and tender hope that this country is based on, it’s something you don’t say no to,” she added. “You do it.”
The Grammy and Emmy award-winning singer-songwriter is set to perform “America the Beautiful” ahead of Super Bowl 60 between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots on Sunday, February 8, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
Carlile will perform as part of a jam-packed pre-game lineup, featuring Green Day and a rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner” by Charlie Pluth, before Bad Bunny takes the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime stage.
While there’s sure to be plenty of drama on the field, Bad Bunny and the controversy surrounding his upcoming performance has been dominating headlines after conservatives, Republican politicians — including President Donald Trump — and pundits have chastised the NFL for choosing a Puerto Rican artist who performs in Spanish to headline.
(Despite claims from many conservatives, Bad Bunny, real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, is an American as Puerto Rico is an American territory.)

“You may not know this, but I’m doing the Super Bowl halftime show,” Bad Bunny told the audience while hosting Saturday Night Live in October 2025, addressing the controversy head-on. “I’m very happy and I think everyone is very happy about it! Even Fox News…”
He added, “Really, I’m very excited to be doing the Super Bowl and I know people all around the world who love my music are also happy.”
Bad Bunny then spoke in Spanish, before again addressing the audience and viewers in English.
“If you didn’t understand now what I just said, you have four months to learn!”
While speaking to Variety, Carlile also addressed the divisiveness surrounding the upcoming Super Bowl.
“It shouldn’t be. It shouldn’t be,” Carlile told the publication of how controversial the halftime show has become. “It looks exactly like America! It looks exactly like the United States. It looks like the layers on the field, and it looks like the people that are watching the sport. And that’s how it should be, with a lot of demographics represented, and a lot of enthusiastic people excited to celebrate a huge game on a unifying day.”
She continued, “And I think that the folks that put together the entertainment portion of the Super Bowl this year just did a bang-up job. It’s really good. Bad Bunny’s incredible — an incredible spirit and performer. It’s gonna be a fabulous halftime show.”
The award-winning singer also spoke to how important it was for her to perform a song penned by Katharine Lee Bates, who is believed to have been gay.
“You know, I feel called to a long line of contemplative and struggling people. I feel motivated by the fact that she was very likely gay, and a woman relying on her intellect in a time when that was difficult for women to do so, and living with a partner who was doing the same thing,” she explained. “And still choosing — even in that total oppression; even not being able to be married; even not being able to say that she was gay, or to be elevated to the heights that she probably deserved to be elevated to in politics — and, during those times, to still love America and to still believe that it could get to a place of goodness.”
She added, “I won’t say greatness, because that feels a little, you know, patriarchal. But goodness. And I believe the same thing. And I have a sliver of the struggle ahead of and behind me that she was facing in her day. So, you know, this is an interesting song. And it’s an interesting decision that I’m making. I definitely don’t want to be seen as a neoliberal or as someone who’s glossing over the problems that we have in this country. I want to be seen as one of the people that’s helping.”
