Hollywood Divided Over Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Show
Bad Bunny definitely left an impression on everyone who watched his Super Bowl Halftime Show performance, be it good or bad.
The entertainer’s call for unity and love in America touched the hearts of many within Hollywood, while other celebrities and public figures were more concerned with the lack of subtitles.
Stars like John Mellencamp, Kacey Musgraves, and Meghan McCain loved the show, while others like Donald Trump and Jake Paul were unimpressed by the singer’s performance.

Bad Bunny Receives His Flowers From Multiple A-Listers

The Puerto Rican rapper/singer received positive reactions from several celebrities on X, with renowned singer-songwriter Mellencamp giving him a raving review.
“I don’t know what Bad Bunny is saying; however, I do know he is standing up for Puerto Rico, and I am standing up for him. His halftime show was great,” Mellencamp wrote.
Fellow singer-songwriter Musgraves echoed similar sentiments, using the moment to slam Turning Point USA’s halftime show. “Well. That made me feel more proudly American than anything Kid Rock has ever done,” she declared. Political commentator McCain shared the same view, questioning critics’ taste.

“I’m sorry, but I just genuinely question your taste level if you didn’t enjoy the Bad Bunny halftime show,” McCain quipped. “And everything in life doesn’t have to be ruined with politics.” She received a thumbs-up from Piers Morgan, who similarly loved Bad Bunny’s performance.

The Reviews Turned Political As Public Figures Weighed In

Morgan approved McCain’s message after slamming Donald Trump’s reaction to Bad Bunny’s performance. The President had penned a scathing review on his Truth Social platform, labeling the show “absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER!”
Trump claimed Bad Bunny’s performance was “a ‘slap in the face’ to our Country” and stressed that there was nothing inspirational about the show. He found faults with the non-English songs and the “disgusting” dancing, claims Morgan refuted as false.
The reactions to Bad Bunny’s performance turned political, with public figures like Martin Luther King III weighing in. In his tweet, the human rights activist thanked the Puerto Rican rapper for “an incredible—and important—performance.” He noted his late father would have approved of his message.

United States Representative Jasmine Crockett similarly applauded Bad Bunny for understanding the assignment. Governor Gavin Newsom shared the same view, thanking the singer for a “beautiful” show.

Two Real Housewives Were Unimpressed By Bad Bunny’s Performance

On the other hand, not everyone in Hollywood was a fan of Bad Bunny’s halftime show. The “Real Housewives of New York City” alum Jill Zarin had plenty to say about the Puerto Rican entertainer’s performance, as seen in a video reposted on X.
She slammed the performance as “the worst halftime show ever,” arguing that it was inappropriate for the songs to have been sung in Spanish. Zarin was also offended by Bad Bunny’s dancing, claiming he grabbed his crotch one too many times and believed it was a sign of insecurity.
“I don’t speak Spanish, I would’ve liked to have known the words he was saying. To me, it looked like a political statement because there were literally no white people in the entire thing,” Zarin said. The “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Taylor Armstrong was equally unimpressed.
Armstrong shared a picture of Russell Crowe from “Gladiator” on her Instagram Story, with her head photoshopped onto his. She captioned the post, “Were you entertained?? I am embarrassed for the @NFL and Apple for the Super Bowl halftime show totally in Spanish with a Cuban flag!!”

Candace Owens’ Reaction To The Two Halftime Shows

After Bad Bunny was announced as the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show headline performer, Turning Point USA declared it would host its own halftime show for the American people. Both shows went down on February 8, with Candace Owens significantly disappointed.
The Blast covered her reaction to both shows, reporting she shared her thoughts on X in a series of tweets. The political commentator stressed that she disliked both performances, noting that Bad Bunny’s performance wasn’t enjoyable as it wasn’t in English.
On the other hand, TPUSA’s performances did not move her, nor did she like the Charlie Kirk Foundation’s alleged attempt to increase its views through scams. “The left vs. right grift is actually boring now. What exactly are we doing here, America?” Owens wondered.
The Paul Brothers Clashed Over Bad Bunny’s Halftime Show Performance
Hollywood wasn’t the only place divided by Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance, as the Paul brothers clashed over their differences. The Blast reported that the drama began when Jake Paul implored fans to boycott the Puerto Rican singer’s show.
“Turn off this halftime. A fake American citizen performing who publicly hates America. I cannot support that,” Jake wrote. His younger brother, Logan Paul, immediately distanced himself from the drama by refuting Jake’s stance.
Logan stressed that he loves his brother; however, he could not support his message. He clarified that Puerto Ricans were Americans, and he was happy that a member of their community got the opportunity to showcase their talents. Jake has since taken back his use of “fake American.”

From ‘The ‘Burbs’ Set, Keke Palmer and Jack Whitehall React to That Bonkers Finale Reveal
[Editor’s note: The following contains major spoilers for the Peacock TV series The ‘Burbs.]
Summary
When you write about television and you love learning about what goes into the production of a TV show, there’s nothing like the experience of driving onto a studio lot and walking around outdoor and soundstage sets where you can tell every little detail has been thought about and discussed with multiple departments. On June 12, 2025, Collider (along with three other media outlets) got the opportunity to head over to the Universal Studios Hollywood back lot to visit the set of the Peacock series The ‘Burbs, starring Keke Palmer, who’s also an executive producer, and Jack Whitehall. The eight-episode whodunnit comedy from creator Celeste Hughey, inspired by the 1989 movie starring Tom Hanks and Carrie Fisher, is set in present-day suburbia and follows a young couple who have reluctantly moved into the husband’s childhood home in the cul-de-sac he grew up in.
Samira (Palmer) and Rob Fisher (Whitehall) move onto a street that promises to be the safest place to live, but the quiet little neighborhood quickly proves to be much more as old secrets come to light and a sense of danger looms. A new neighbor moves into the creepy Victorian across the street, and Rob along with his best friend Naveen (Kapil Talwalkar) are reminded of someone they once knew. A trio of nosy but well-meaning neighbors – Lynn (Julia Duffy), Dana (Paula Pell), and Tod (Mark Proksch) – with secrets of their own help Samira and Rob get to the bottom of what’s going on in Hinkley Hills while also uncovering the fact that things may not be as safe as they’ve been told.
At a studio like Universal, next to the soundstages on the back lot are a variety of streets and locations that could be dressed to look like they’re anywhere, in any time period. While The ‘Burbs TV series and movie were shot in the same houses on Colonial Street, previously known as Mayfield Place, but now called Ashfield Place, nothing is an exact replica, helping establish the fact that this is not a sequel. Even so, there are Easter eggs and nods to the movie, as well as fun little details of their own that they’ve sprinkled throughout.
Joe Dante’s 1989 Movie ‘The ‘Burbs’ Inspired This Seth MacFarlane-Produced Mystery Series
All eight episodes of The ‘Burbs are now available to stream on Peacock, but executive producer Seth MacFarlane originally had the intention of making another movie when he first got the idea for the re-imagining. When he and his fellow Fuzzy Door EPs Erica Huggins and Aimee Carlson were discussing their favorite movies from that era, they realized that the cult favorite was definitely one of them.
“It was Covid, there wasn’t a lot happening, and he felt like maybe this was a movie you could make on the back lot at Universal with 25 people and get away with it,” said Huggins on set during a break from filming the season finale. Cut to a year later, we couldn’t get the deal done … Covid kept continuing on, and we all got busy with something else.”
But that wasn’t the end of it, and The ‘Burbs came back around after the strikes when they thought it might work better as a TV series. Added Huggins, “After Covid, there was the idea of neighborhoods, how you know your neighbors, and what your neighbors mean to you. Since we were all at home and walking the streets of our neighborhoods, creepy houses that have always felt like a little bit of a blight on those neighborhoods made you wonder, ‘Who’s in there? What’s in there?’ It heightened the paranoia from living through Covid.”
Once the idea was in place and they were ready to move forward with the TV series, the next to sign on was showrunner Hughey, who immediately knew Palmer was the only person that she could imagine as Samira. “It was important for me to tell a fish-out-of-water story about a Black woman and a new mother, and experience the world through her eyes,” she said. “[Keke] is the perfect person to do that.”
‘The ‘Burbs’ Movie and the TV Show Are Both of Their Time, With the Peacock Version Having More of a Modern Edge
While The ‘Burbs still has a creepy new neighbor in the foreboding Victorian on the opposite side of the street, they didn’t want to just do a repeat of the Klopeks from the movie. They also decided to reclaim the Munster mansion and transform it into the Victorian, as the Klopek house instead became a normal residence for Naveen. “Your way in is, ‘What is this new creepy family doing?,’” explained Carlson. “That’s a great engine for the season, but as it unfolds, we reveal new mysteries about the characters. That’s the beauty of a television show that you don’t get to do if you only have two hours. That’s where a lot of the fun surprises in the series come from.”
In case you were wondering, they did send movie director Joe Dante the script for the pilot and Huggins said that he loved it and was happy that somebody was doing something with it, and that he wished them well on their journey with it. Added Hughey, who also wrote the pilot, “1989 was a very different time in the country. There was a little bit more fear of the foreign … and the Klopeks were a foreign family that people were unsure of. Because of the Covid of it all, we’ve had to know our neighbors and understand and rely on each other. That was more the essence of our show and how we interact with the world now. It’s about trying to find common ground with everyone around you, which is possible.”
This time around, the creepy neighbor is Gary (Justin Kirk), whose odd and suspicious behavior sets off alarm bells for Samira as she starts to poke around. Thankfully, Samira isn’t alone in her interest in the cul-de-sac tea, and she’s quickly joined by Lynn (Duffy), who’s very familiar with the neighborhood’s history, Dana (Pell), a blunt and direct retired Marine, Tod (Proksch), who’s equal parts socially awkward and very observant.
“You don’t choose your neighbors,” said Carlson when talking about the ensemble surrounding Palmer. “It’s inherently diverse in who they are as people, but also their personalities. It’s everything you want in an ensemble show. They’re all really distinct from one another and those conflicts obviously drive a lot of comedy.”
Added Huggins, “The tribe of characters that we’ve built around Keke are unusual and interesting in their own right, and they are all carrying a secret that we reveal throughout this season. Not completely, but mostly. Things that get revealed along the way become part of their personalities and you understand the reasons why certain things are happening. The bigger bad in the show gets revealed in a way that’s very unexpected within the cul-de-sac. Each of our characters definitely has a personality that is connected to where they live and what their secret is.
The Love Between Samira and Rob Fisher Is at the Heart of ‘The ’Burbs’
The relationship between Samira and Rob is already established when we meet them, but because they’re in a new chapter of their lives, as parents, they’re still adjusting and figuring out what that means. “Especially as relatively new parents, that was something that we really related to,” Whitehall explained, with he and Palmer being parents themselves. “There’s a real richness and depth to the story that we’re telling with them.”
Palmer added, “They’re finding themselves again after having the baby. They did fall in love with each other and they did already have this history, but as new parents, that all goes down the drain once the baby comes. All of a sudden, you don’t know each other anymore. I do think we were able to have fun with that … Me and Jack healed, doing this.”
Walking around the set for the Fisher home, it was easy to get a sense of the love Samira and Rob have for each other, with all the photos scattered around. The details help create a relationship that brings the couple together in times of danger and helps them uncover what’s really going on in their neighborhood.
Executive Producers Huggins and Carlson knew immediately that Palmer and Whitehall were on the same page when it came to their characters. “It was just an instant connection,” said Huggins. “They had chemistry. You could feel they were jumping off each other’s humor and sensibilities, and it was really sweet.”
The natural ease Palmer and Whitehall found with each other easily translated to Samira and Rob. “There were so many conversations and arguments where we were like, ‘Oh, my God, I’ve literally said these words,’” said Whitehall. “It’s so brilliantly observed and relatable in such a wonderful way. It has this nuance and these different layers that are funny and touching.”
If Anyone Tells You That You’re Moving to the Safest Place To Live, You Should Find Somewhere Else To Go
When an unresolved mystery from Rob and Naveen’s past becomes a part of their lives again in the present, Samira has to work through her initial suspicions that they could somehow be involved. Whether it’s knowing her husband well enough to know that he isn’t a murderer or supporting his wife in a way that they can figure out the cul-de-sac mysteries together, Samira and Rob are going to discover who’s really responsible for whatever is going on in their neighborhood. And in the finale, with Naveen being driven off in the trunk of a member of the HOA, who’s responsible for keeping things safe in ways that are clearly very questionable, the series sets up new questions for a possible Season 2.
“[Samira’s] investigative work, thus far, has been pretty good, so I feel like we’re a good team now and we’ve got the support network of the found family of neighbors behind us,” Whitehall said during an interview with Collider at a junket to promote the series launch. “I think they stand a good chance of finding [Naveen] and rescuing him from the trunk of that car.”
In that same interview, Palmer added, “There are so many questions. Where the hell is Naveen? That’s number one. What are you hiding? The thing that you find out about Hinkley Hills, and the reason why it’s the safest town in America, is because people are hiding a lot of things about what happened there. It’s a constant unraveling of one lie to cover up the next lie.”
While ‘The ’Burbs’ Does Resolve Some of Its Mysteries, There Is More Story To Tell in a Possible Season 2
Expanding the ideas and themes of The ‘Burbs for a TV series means that there are still areas to explore moving forward. Getting some answers doesn’t mean you have all the answers, but Hughey has a sense of Season 2 and beyond. “We get to the end of the season with a big ah-ha of what we’ve been tracking through this particular season,” Huggins said during the set visit. “But something bigger comes up at the end that reveals a bigger problem. So, it’s a continuation of the same characters and some of the same storylines, but the end reveals a bigger problem that they have to tackle. It’s definitely meant to continue.”
Hughey added, “We reference Season 2 constantly. We’re like, ‘Okay, we’ll save that for Season 2. And then, we’re going to do this. And this character comes in then.’ Even on set, the cast was like, ‘Okay, in Season 2, we’ll do this.’ It’s not fully mapped out, but we know what the big bad is in the second season and what new adventures they’ll get into. We haven’t mapped it out for five years, but we can definitely see the vision for the next several seasons.”
Part of that vision for Hughey is adding neighbors to the cul-de-sac. “Some people will leave to make room for other characters. Some people can come back. Paula’s character, Dana, talks about her wife the whole season, and I’m hoping to have her come in next season.”
And if for some reason things don’t work out and they don’t get to move forward with a Season 2, Palmer and Whitehall have ideas for more Tom Hanks projects they could remake. “I would do Big,” declared Palmer. “But that’s one of the most popular, so it’s really bad to try to do that because you’re not going to do it. I would do a fake Big that’s called Small, so it reminds me of that, but it ain’t that.”
“Maybe Forest Gump 2,” added Whitehall. “There was a script that was written, apparently. I’d still be running.”
The ‘Burbs is available to stream on Peacock, where you can also watch the 1989 Joe Dante movie.

Chappell Roan Leaves Talent Agency Over Owner’s Connection to Epstein
Chappell Roan has cut ties with her talent agency, Wasserman, after CEO and founder Casey Wasserman was named in files related to late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
“As of today, I am no longer represented by Wasserman, the talent agency led by Casey Wasserman,” Roan, 27, shared in an Instagram Story on Monday, February 9.
The “Pink Pony Club” singer continued, “I hold my teams to the highest standards and have a duty to protect them as well. No artist, agent or employee should ever be expected to defend or overlook actions that conflict so deeply with our own moral values.”
“I have deep respect and appreciation for the agents and staff who work tirelessly for their artists and I refuse to passively stand by,” Roan added. “Artists deserve representation that aligns with their values and supports their safety and dignity. This decision reflects my belief that meaningful change in our industry requires accountability and leadership that earns trust.”
Us Weekly has reached out to Wasserman for comment.
Last month, documents emerged linking Wasserman, 51, who is also the president of the organizing committee for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, to Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell.

According to The Guardian, in one email sent in 2003, Wasserman told Maxwell, “I think of you all the time. So, what do I have to do to see you in a tight leather outfit?” In another email, sent in April that same year, Maxwell offered to give Wasserman a massage that could “drive a man wild.”
“I deeply regret my correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell which took place over two decades ago, long before her horrific crimes came to light,” Wasserman said in a statement to Deadline earlier this month. “I never had a personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. As is well documented, I went on a humanitarian trip as part of a delegation with the Clinton Foundation in 2002 on the Epstein plane. I am terribly sorry for having any association with either of them.”
Maxwell, 64, is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence after being found guilty in December 2021 on federal charges of conspiracy to entice minors to travel to engage in illegal sex acts, conspiracy to transport minors to participate in illegal sex acts, transporting a minor to participate in illegal sex acts, sex trafficking conspiracy and sex trafficking of a minor.
The Department of Justice released another tranche of federal documents — dubbed the Epstein files — in January following investigations into the disgraced financier. Epstein died by suicide in August 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking of minors and conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of minors.
President Donald Trump signed the Epstein Files Transparency Act into law in November 2025 after it passed through the House of Representatives and Congress.
The bill “requires the Department of Justice (DOJ) to publish (in a searchable and downloadable format) all unclassified records, documents, communications, and investigative materials in DOJ’s possession that relate to the investigation and prosecution of Jeffrey Epstein.” Materials released include those in connection with the federal charges related to Maxwell, Epstein’s longtime friend and former girlfriend.

Dax Shepard Says Late-Night Drive At 85 MPH Turned Into A Nightmare

According to Shepard, he and a friend were driving from Toledo to Detroit in a Ford Probe. It was late, and Shepard had an early morning shift ahead of him, so he decided to stretch out and sleep in the backseat. Before nodding off, he double-checked that his friend was okay to drive. The answer was a confident yes, despite the cruise control being set to 85 miles per hour.
That confidence didn’t last long.

Shepard Woke Up To His Driver Asleep As Car Began Rolling

Shepard recalled being jolted awake by the sound of gravel hitting the side of the car. When he looked up, his friend was completely slumped over behind the wheel, fast asleep.
He tried to grab control, but it was already too late. The car veered to the side, launched into the air, and began rolling down the highway. Shepard said his mind immediately went to the worst-case scenario, the line of pine trees along the Michigan road. “I knew if we hit one of those, that was it,” he shared.

As the car continued to flip, Shepard experienced something unexpected. Instead of panic, he felt calm. After a rush of fear and realization that death felt moments away, a strange sense of peace took over. He described it as oddly comforting, saying it felt like his body just accepted what was about to happen.
The car rolled around ten times before finally coming to a stop, upside down. Against all odds, they never hit a tree. Both Shepard and his friend crawled out through the windows, shaken but alive. Somehow, neither of them was seriously hurt.

In 2020, he revealed that after 16 years sober, he suffered a relapse, a setback he later addressed candidly on “In Fact.” According to Shepard, the relapse began when chronic pain issues with his hand and shoulder resurfaced, leading him back to prescription pain medication.
What started as legitimate treatment slowly spiraled out of control. Shepard admitted he was taking far more pills than prescribed, buying additional medication, and lying to people closest to him, all while carrying what he described as an “enormous secret.”

In “A Body in the Woods,” Emma Roberts portrays Alice, a woman left alone in her remote cabin to keep watch over the body of an unidentified mine worker.
As night falls, strange events begin to unfold, leaving Alice to fear that the corpse may not be completely at rest.
According to a Deadline report, producer Dave Caplan is particularly excited about the prospect of what Roberts and Cognetti can bring to the project.
“Stephen has consistently proven he can create terrifying, elevated immersive horror experiences,” Caplan said. “With Emma in the lead, ‘A Body in the Woods’ is an undeniable package.”

Emma Roberts Is A Seasoned Presence In The Genre

Roberts has been a steady presence in horror films and television since the early 2010s, when she began transitioning away from the roles that first made her a teenage superstar.
In 2011, she played Jill Roberts in “Scream 4,” bringing to life a character that would ultimately turn into one of the franchise’s most notorious villains.
She also won a lot of plaudits for her work in “The Blackcoat’s Daughter,” where she played a disturbed young woman on the run from a mental institution.
Roberts is probably best known for her recurring roles across multiple seasons of Ryan Murphy’s “American Horror Story.”

Roberts Relishes Playing Both Victim And Villain In Horror

Thanks to her broad portfolio in horror, Roberts has had the unique opportunity to play both victims and villainous roles.
In a 2019 interview with Los Angeles Magazine, the actress said she doesn’t favor one side over the other.
“I think both are really fun,” Roberts said.
At the time, she was also starring as Brooke Thompson in the ninth season of “American Horror Story.”
Brooke was a victim, but Roberts had already depicted dangerous, morally questionable characters in the series.
“This year I’m playing more of the victim,” she said. “But playing the villain in Ryan Murphy World is great because the dialogue’s smart and juicy-funny as well as scary.”

Emma Roberts On What Attracts Audiences To Horror

In 2017, Roberts discussed the enduring appeal of horror films during an interview with Nylon, alongside her “The Blackcoat’s Daughter” co-star Kiernan Shipka.
While both actresses offered different perspectives on why audiences remain drawn to the genre, Roberts argued that films in the genre stand out because they offer unique communal viewing experiences.
“Horror is a genre where you can include your friends. It’s a group activity,” she said. “You go out to see a romantic movie with your partner, or you go to a comedy to laugh with a couple of girlfriends. Horror is a communal thing. When I go to horror movies, it’s with ten friends.”
Roberts is also set to return to “American Horror Story” for the upcoming 13th season, which also includes Ariana Grande as well as several major returning stars.

Bad Bunny
Crew Pulls Back Curtain On Halftime Show
… Was Love Letter To Puerto Rico

Bad Bunny used the Super Bowl stage to tell a story about his culture — and his crew says the message was loud and clear!
TMZ Sports caught up with members of the global superstar’s cast at LAX on Monday after their big halftime performance … and they say their focus wasn’t just about putting on a show, it was about putting Puerto Rican culture front and center on the world’s biggest stage.
“I was blown away myself,” one of his backup dancers, Chris, told us.
“I feel like it’s such a monumental moment culturally. I was born and raised in Puerto Rico and everything they did culturally, I feel like they tapped in perfectly.”
He continued, saying the performance perfectly tapped into both the struggle and the beauty of growing up on the island.
And, Bad Bunny didn’t just show up and perform … he was deeply involved in building the show from the ground up. In fact, the dancer says Benito stayed hands-on throughout rehearsals … constantly weighing in on creative ideas and making sure every detail matched his vision.
“Doing this was beyond me,” Chris said. “I was fortunate enough to be a part of this and it’ll be part of history forever. To all those people that wanna do stuff after me, I feel like this was a stamp from time to know that you can do that.”

We also caught up with Victor Villa — owner of Villa’s Tacos in Los Angeles — who snagged a surprise spotlight during the halftime opener, “Tití Me Preguntó.”
During the performance, Bad Bunny bursts out from the sugar cane fields, grabs a shaved ice from a street vendor … then turns and hands it off to Villa, who was working a taco cart onstage.
Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.
“I thank Benito for that, for bringing all the Latinos together and really giving us a platform to not only share our craft but to meet other amazing people who made an amazing show,” Villa said.
He added that business is booming since the performance, but Villa’s main takeaway was about Benito as a person, describing him as “a man of so much love.”
Halftime wasn’t just a concert … it was a statement.

Guess Who This Supergirl Turned Into!
Before this sweet lil’ girl turned into an actress, she was just rockin’ her Supergirl tee and jammin’ out in youth theater, while growing up in the Bronx.
There’s no scandal this gorgeous gal can’t handle! There are a thousand words we could use to describe her … but you can just call her “Olivia Pope.”
