Former “Summer House” star West Wilson has broken his silence on Bravo’s decision to fire him from the long-running reality show after three years. On an episode of the “Broadcast Boys” podcast, Wilson, 31, said he stood by the network’s choice, adding that he likely wouldn’t have meshed with the cast for the upcoming season due to his new romance with cast member Amanda Batula.

Solomon—who spent the majority of season 9 in the hot seat due to his relationship with Lexi Wood—went on to say that Wilson needs to make a “change” in his life after being publicly blasted by a number of his ex-girlfriends.

“I think a change there is necessary. And then just apologizing for the things that actually hurt people. I know he’s full of regret with how this all went down, so I’m hoping he can learn and grow from it and be a better person and friend,” he said.

This Bravo Executive Was Irritated With Wilson During The Reunion

Bravo executive Noah Samton recently reflected on the “Summer House” reunion, saying that Wilson had a chance to address his issues with the cast but ultimately decided against it.

“When you watch the reunion, as incredible as it is, and as great television as it is, you walk away feeling a little unsatisfied because of the way that West and Amanda handle themselves,” Samton said. “They didn’t explain themselves in a satisfying way. And then there was a whole separate conversation with Meija, who nobody knew anything about. To me, those were the three stories that needed to be fleshed out further.”

Samton then called Wilson’s behavior “frustrating,” adding that the reunion is the place for the cast to offer clarity not only to each other, but to the audience.

Miller Is ‘The Future’ Of The Show

The upcoming season, which begins filming during the July 4th weekend, will certainly have a different dynamic without Wilson on the show. However, Samton isn’t worried about the series’ future.

“I told Ciara a few months ago that I think she’s the future of ‘Summer House.’ She has a voice that we love on [the show], has the connections with the rest of the group, with Mia and KJ, and she’s tight with Kyle. She feels like she has become the center of the show. And that’s a story I want to continue telling,” he said.

As the letter continued, Parker urged Jimmy to be patient with Wade and insisted that her ex wanted to make him proud. “Wade is an amazing, strong, intelligent, loving man. He just struggles to show it,” she wrote.

Parker added that she felt lost and admitted she had many unanswered questions following her conviction. “I don’t understand how this happened or why. But I miss my kids and family. But I’m okay. I’ve prayed,” she said.

She wrapped up the letter by asking for forgiveness and reiterating how much she cares about Jimmy and Wade. “I loved you like a dad Mr. Jimmy. Please know that I truly loved Wade as well,” Parker wrote.

Jason Biggs and Jenny Mollen‘s split continues to raise eyebrows over the state of their relationship as new details come out.

In a recent interview, the actress revealed the “horrifying” text message she sent to her estranged husband after he moved out of their home.

This comes after the actress claimed that she and Jason Biggs were still “romantic” despite the separation, describing their split as “bizarre.”

During a candid chat with Kelly Ripa on her “Let’s Talk Off Camera” podcast, Mollen opened up about a shocking text message related to a vaginoplasty procedure she sent to Biggs after they had decided to end their marriage of 18 years.

“I’m like, oh, f-ck, this is crazy because literally, and the timing was horrifying because, okay, Jason was moving out on a Friday and I didn’t mean for it to line up this way,” Mollen shared on the Wednesday episode of the podcast, per Page Six.

Laughing as she recounted the awkward interaction, the 47-year-old admitted she hesitated to bring up the medical procedure to her 48-year-old ex.

“‘I’m having a v-gina surgery.’ I mean, it looks so bad for me,” Mollen recalled, explaining that she “didn’t want to tell” Biggs because the timing and nature of the message felt entirely “shady” and “weird.”

She continued, “I’m going under for two and a half f–king hours. I was like, ‘Make this feel palatable,’ but it was awful.”

“The one good thing I was able to tell him was, ‘I’m not allowed to have sex for eight weeks,’” Mollen added, without sharing how Biggs reacted to her texts.

Jenny Mollen Says She And The Actor Are ‘Still Romantic’

Mollen recently shared that her split from Biggs has been fairly normal, claiming she and the actor are still “romantic” with each other.

She made the comments about her breakup with the actor on the “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast after the host, Amanda Hirsch, commented that their split meant it was “the end of the romantic part” of their relationship.

However, Mollen interjected, saying, “And it’s still, like, romantic. We still love each other. It’s just not, I don’t know, it’s a different type of romance. It’s, like, your best friend.”

She then added that she and Biggs have “a solid relationship,” and “have always been amazing co-parents and teammates.”

Speaking more about their post-separation life, Mollen noted that nothing seems to have changed for them, as they still talk a lot, especially because of their children.

She admitted that the breakup has brought about a “surreal” and “bizarre” feeling, as it means she is single again for the first time in years. However, Mollen emphasized that she and Biggs will always be in each other’s lives.

“People will be like, ‘How does it feel?’ And I’m like, ‘I don’t know, the same?’” the actress said. “We live in two different places, but we’re still tethered. We have kids. We still talk 18 times a day about everyone’s schedule, and after school and holidays.”

“And so there is like this element of, like, this isn’t a normal breakup where you’re like, ‘See ya!’ and then maybe we’ll bump into each other in 10 years and talk about it. It’s not like that,” Mollen added.

“And Jason’s the first to admit he’s a changed person these days, having shed a lot of weight and being proudly sober,” the insider said. “He wants to eliminate any source of stress from his life, and it just wasn’t going to work for him, sticking in a marriage that had lost its spark.”

The separation remains remarkably amicable, with no lingering animosity between the former couple. According to the publication, Mollen respects his perspective and agrees that parting ways was the best move for them.

If you work in the entertainment industry, you must know that negative reviews are a fact of life. Whether you’re putting together a multi-million dollar Marvel movie or a grade school talent show, you simply can’t please everyone who bears witness to your art. Unfortunately, Criminal Minds star Paget Brewster let the internet critics get a little too deep under her skin recently, which resulted in her lashing out at a ScreenRant writer by name on social media.

When The Critic Gets Critiqued

Per Variety, Brewster took to X to deliver a scathing now-deleted rant in response to a negative critique of Criminal Minds, expressing “Hello critic Shealynn Scott… You’re young. You don’t know that bad pics and bad reviews can lead to 350 people losing their jobs.” She then commanded that the writer quit penning television reviews entirely, and suggested a pivot to philanthropy, arguing “Sell vintage. Work at a shelter. Do something better than what you do now. Because right now you suck.”

Other critics and industry insiders were quick to lambast Brewster for these comments, prompting a swift apology the following day. After suffering through a great deal of backlash, Brewster expressed “I was mean to Shealyn Scott last night and I profoundly regret it. Shame on me for insulting a human being for doing their job.” Then, perhaps invoking the spirit of her Community character Frankie Dart, Brewster humorously concluded “Turns out, last night, I sucked.”

Criticism Comes From A Caring Place

Though the controversy subsided quickly, the entire interaction made me think about the nature of film and television critique in general. Maybe there’s something to be said for the fact that every program (even the really bad ones) is an employer of potentially hundreds of people. With enough poor reviews, such a show could lose viewership, receive an abrupt cancellation, and leave those gaffers, camera operators, and on-screen talent scrambling to feed their families.

Unfortunately, I just don’t think Paget Brewster’s comments hold any water, even with the most generous reading. Most critics only bash a television show if they really care about it, or they really want to care about it. Personally, I’ve never watched an episode of Criminal Minds, so I don’t have a single negative thing to say about the series. But, if you ask me about a show like Archer or The Walking Dead, I could speak at length about how disappointed I was when they began to decline in quality, or fell short of my expectations. I hated Alien 3, but I watched it all the way to the end, because I love the Alien franchise, and I wanted to see it through on the off-chance that the film would improve as it progressed.

It’s also worth pointing out that it isn’t our job to keep Criminal Minds or any other show on the air. That job rests squarely on the people producing the series for our entertainment. While I reel at the notion of hundreds of union workers losing their jobs, I can’t help but feel that television is a capitalist enterprise and thus, subject to the regulation of the free market. If you make a TV show that’s better than anything else on streaming, you’ll have a better shot at keeping it on the air. If your series takes a nosedive in quality, it’s not my fault for noticing the decline.

I’m not trying to harp on Paget Brewster for her social media posts. I can’t say for certain that I’d react with any more grace if I were the one being torn apart by critics. Still, it’s always a virtue to look inward and reflect when your worldview is challenged, so I think it’s worth considering how our critiques can impact TV shows or other works of art in real time. Even though I’ll never feel wholly responsible for putting an entire production crew on the unemployment line, maybe I can make an active effort to not suck, as Paget Brewster so eloquently expressed. At the very least, I could always do an hour of volunteer work for every hour I spend absolutely hate-watching something on TV.

When Into the Spider-Verse came out, it was an absolute game-changer. The movie helped make beloved comic hero Miles Morales into a household name, all while unveiling some absolutely revolutionary animation. It felt a little surreal that such a great movie came from Sony, whose more recent Marvel projects had been completely embarrassing. The success of Spider-Verse also made Warner Bros. look like they were standing still. WB used to be the king of animation, rivaled only by Disney. However, under the disastrous leadership of David Zaslav, the company became infamous for killing off high-profile animated projects. For a long time, it seemed like we’d never get DC’s answer to Into the Spider-Verse.

Now, however, that’s finally changing. DC has revealed some juicy new details about Dynamic Duo, a movie that, like Into the Spider-Verse, will focus on two protagonists. Those protagonists are actually Dick Grayson, Batman’s original Robin, and Jason Todd, the darker sidekick who eventually took over. Additionally, the movie is being made using a pioneering animation style that may rival anything Sony has put out. Throw in the fact that it’s being produced by James Gunn and Matt Reeves, and Dynamic Duo is on track to be one of this year’s most exciting films.

A Very Different Origin Story

At the recent Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Warner Bros. revealed the first plot details for Dynamic Duo. Given the name, most fans initially assumed that the movie would revolve around Batman and Robin. In a twist, however, it focuses on two Robins. In this movie, Dick Grayson and Jason Todd start as a pair of street rats; they are close friends and name themselves “The Dynamic Duo.” Everything changes when Batman grows up and recruits Grayson to be his new sidekick. Todd, meanwhile, goes a much darker path and joins the Red Hood Gang.

This is very different from their comic origins. In the comics, Dick Grayson and Jason Todd were both taken in by Batman and trained to be Robin, just at different time periods. Later, Todd was killed by the Joker but was revived by some cosmic shenanigans and healed in one of Ras al Ghul’s Lazarus pits. Eventually, he appeared in the Red Hood persona as a murderous bad guy, but in a later continuity, he became more of a rough-around-the-edges vigilante. He’s still part of the Bat-family, as is Grayson, who went on to become his own hero: Nightwing.

A Bold New Animation Style

At first glance, the weirdest thing about Dynamic Duo is its animation style. The movie is being created by Swaybox using their “Momo animation” style, which combines puppets and stop-motion with live-action and CGI. When I first read this, my brain really seized on the words “puppets” and “stop-motion.” I had visions in my head of the next big DC movie looking like Thunderbirds, and I feared it would look absolutely awful.

I breathed a sigh of relief when I found the video above, which shows Swaybox recreating scenes from The Iron Giant in their signature style. As you can see, the animation is very immersive, bringing these puppets to life in new and exciting ways. While footage of Dynamic Duo has (as of this writing) only been shown at the Annecy Animation Film Festival, we hope the powers that be will release it online soon. It’s really awesome to imagine Batman and Robin being animated in this style. Plus, that video above is from 2017; nearly a decade later, there’s every reason to believe Swaybox has only gotten better at what they do.

Warner Bros. clearly has plenty of confidence in Dynamic Duo. The movie is being directed by Swaybox co-CEO Arthur Mintz, who previously worked on the Emmy-winning Netflix series Lost Ollie. It’s also being produced by DC Studios CEO James Gunn and The Batman director Matt Reeves. Sadly, the film won’t hit theaters until June 30th, 2028, meaning we’ll have to wait over two years to see DC’s answer to Into the Spider-Verse. Based on everything we’ve seen and heard about the film, though, that wait will be well worth it!
