Teresa Giudice’s Daughter, Milania, Breaks Silence on Arrest

Milania giudice with Joe and Family

Milania Giudice, daughter of “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Teresa Giudice, was arrested for simple assault in May of this year, with the information making its way to the press the following month. Now, the 20-year-old is breaking her silence, specifically to debunk her rumored mugshot.

Giudice took to her official TikTok on June 28 to address a mugshot of herself that has circulated on various social media platforms. She did so by posting a video of herself to the platform, in which she can be seen in a dimly lit room while wearing a hite robe.

The college student began, “I have one thing to say,” before teasing that she would “save the rest” for a later date. According to her, “But that mugshot of me, you guys really believe… that’s AI. I ate down in my mugshot. I looked fire.”

After that, she admitted that being arrested was “nothing to be proud of.” She added, “I mean, it is what it is. Sh-t happens in life.”

Giudice’s video continued as she acknowledged that she needs to learn from the mistakes that led to her May 2026 arrest. She reflected on the unfortunate event, saying, “I was just not in a good area in my life, and you know what, that happens.”

Giudice continued, “I’ve been through a lot in life, and some other stuff happened to me. Just because you guys think you know everything that happens in my life, you just really don’t.”

Toward the end of the clip, she returned her attention to the mugshot, expressing disbelief that her followers would believe it was real.

Fans Are Rallying Around Milania

Since her arrest became public knowledge, there has been widespread conjecture about the incident that led to her being apprehended by the police. However, following her most recent comments, the 20-year-old received a ton of support, with many reminding her that it’s okay for her family’s business to remain private.

One person wrote, “You don’t owe anyone an explanation, babe. We ALL make mistakes; they do NOT define you. You have been through so much, and what people see probably isn’t even close to half of it, and that’s ok; it should be private. You are beautiful inside and out. This will only make you stronger!”

Another of Giudice’s followers wrote, “You really ain’t gotta explain sh!t to no one !! Your real fans are gonna stick by you no matter what!! Praying for peace & prosperity in your life, queen.”

Details About The Arrest Are Still Scarce

Currently, it’s still unclear who was on the receiving end of Giudice’s alleged assault. However, what we do know is that, according to court documents obtained by TMZ, the University of Tampa student was arrested on May 14. This happened in Montville Township Municipal Court, and she was charged with simple assault for purposely or knowingly causing bodily harm.

Her case is currently categorized as domestic violence/confidential. There are currently no details about the situation that led to Giudice’s arrest. However, it should be noted that many of the rumors about the altercation say that her stepfather, Luis Ruelas, was on the receiving end of the attack.

Perhaps to debunk the rumblings, Giudice took to social media in June to wish Ruelas a happy Father’s Day. She said on Instagram, “Happy Father’s Day Louie. You are the best stepdad anyone can ask for. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you do for us. I love you and your entire family so much, and thank you for giving me two brothers that I adore! You deserve the world.”

So far, Teresa has maintained her silence on Milania’s arrest. However, production on season 15 of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” is currently underway. Because of this, it seems likely she and her family will address what took place in May.

As fans know, season 15 will serve as a soft reboot for the long-running Bravo series. In addition to Teresa, the only returning cast members are Melissa Gorga and Dolores Catania. The season is expected to air in early 2027.

Inside Sam Hunt’s Rocky Marriage & Country Music Disappearance

Published

on

Sam Hunt at Stagecoach Country Music Festival, day 2

It’s been more than six years since Sam Hunt released “Southside,” and country music fans are beginning to wonder when (or if) the singer plans to return in a major way. Despite remaining one of the genre’s most-streamed artists, Hunt has largely stepped away from the spotlight in recent years. His last single, “Liberty,” arrived in November 2024, while a full-length album has yet to materialize. The absence has become increasingly noticeable in Nashville, where many industry insiders still view Sam Hunt as one of the genre’s most influential artists.

According to insiders who spoke with the Daily Mail, Hunt’s quieter public profile is less about music and more about life at home with wife Hannah Fowler and their three children.

“He is a homebody and loves his family, his farm, but he also loves music. It’s been a long-time point of contention that those two things clash for Hannah,” one insider said. “The label got an EP and some singles out of him recently, but touring heavily is probably not on the table for right now.”

Hunt has offered occasional glimpses into that slower lifestyle through social media, sharing photos of hunting trips, fishing excursions, and family moments away from the stage.

The Couple’s Relationship Has Faced Public Challenges

The reported shift comes after several turbulent years in Hunt and Fowler’s relationship. The couple married in 2017 after nearly a decade of an on-again, off-again romance that inspired much of Hunt’s music, including songs on his debut album, “Montevallo,” which was named after Fowler’s hometown.

In 2022, Fowler briefly filed for divorce, citing “inappropriate marital conduct.” The split never moved forward, however, and the pair ultimately reconciled before welcoming their first child together later that year. Together, they now have three children. Sources claim those experiences changed the way the couple viewed Hunt’s career.

“Sam is literally one of the nicest humans in country music,” another insider told the outlet. “Unfortunately, he’s in love with someone who has basically made it clear that if he loves her and wants her, he needs to take a step back from the music and touring and focus on her.”

Hunt has also faced legal issues during his marriage that attracted significant public attention. In 2019, the singer was arrested for DUI in Nashville after police reported seeing him driving erratically. “It happened,” Hunt said in an interview with HITS Daily Double at the time. “People in my camp were talking about suppressing it, but why would I be afraid to talk about it? If it happens, it’s true.”

He later pleaded guilty and received a suspended sentence, lost his license for a year, and was required to complete an alcohol safety program. “Moderation is important. I’ve never wanted to glorify it,” he added. “It’s a cheap trick in country music, and I’ve always wanted to avoid that. I don’t like using [drinking] as a party song; for me, that wouldn’t be honest. I’ve never been the guy who shotguns a beer. I know people who partake that way, and I wouldn’t want to shake my finger or look down on them.”

A later Tennessee arrest involving speeding and an ignition interlock device violation also generated headlines, though Hunt ultimately did not face charges. “Sam’s wife had to deal with him getting caught driving drunk,” one industry insider said. “So would you want your husband to ever do anything again?”

Country Music Executives Say The Genre Is Missing Sam Hunt

Even with his reduced public presence, many within country music still believe Hunt’s influence can be felt throughout the industry. “What’s missing from the genre right now? It’s Sam Hunt in a significant way. If Sam Hunt walked in right now and did the exact thing he did ten years ago, he would save country music,” a second insider said.

Another industry source credited Hunt with helping reshape how country artists connect with fans online. “Sam started the whole content Golden Age,” the source said. “He was the first person in Country that was making highly-produced content that was strictly for social media and documenting touring in a big way.”

Will Sam Hunt Release New Music Soon?

Recent social media activity briefly sparked speculation that new music could finally be on the horizon. A Father’s Day post featuring the caption, “Blackberries growing on the property line, staining little hands that look like mine,” led some fans to wonder if Hunt was teasing lyrics from an upcoming song.

However, at least one industry executive told the Daily Mail that there are currently no signs of a major project being imminent. “He’s taken a back step,” the source said. “He’s taking time to focus on his family. I haven’t heard of anything imminent, but he’s the kind of artist that could surprise us with something at any moment.”

For now, fans hoping for a new Sam Hunt era may have to keep waiting.

If you’ve ever wondered what “balance your hormones” actually means, you’re definitely not alone. Many supplements promise to support hormonal health without explaining which hormones they’re targeting. Alori’s Balanced Baddie Bundle is refreshingly different. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, the bundle supports two distinct hormonal concerns with targeted formulas.

The bundle includes Not Today, Estrogen, which supports healthy estrogen metabolism, and Cortisol, Who?, which supports a healthy response to everyday stress. Together, they offer more personalized hormone support. Shoppers who want to focus on one concern can also purchase each supplement individually.

Get the Balanced Baddie Bundle at Alori

The idea behind the bundle is surprisingly simple: not every hormone has the same job, so not every supplement should either. Instead of combining dozens of ingredients into one catch-all formula, Alori developed targeted supplements. It’s a thoughtful approach that feels especially helpful for women navigating changing moods, stressful seasons or the ups and downs of their monthly cycles.

Women looking for more comprehensive support can take both formulas together, while those focused on a specific concern can choose Not Today, Estrogen for estrogen support or Cortisol, Who? for stress support and build a routine that works for their individual needs. All of the ingredients are clinically studied and third-party tested. No fillers, no nonsense — just targeted support for your hormones.

Reviewers say the personalized approach has made a noticeable difference. “The Balanced Baddie Bundle has honestly been such a game changer for me,” wrote one five-star reviewer. “Within a couple weeks I noticed less bloating, fewer mood swings, and way more emotional stability during my luteal phase. I feel calmer, clearer, and more like myself throughout the month instead of constantly feeling ‘off.’”

“It was gradual, but I’ve definitely noticed that I’m less stressed out and it’s not even that I’m just less stressed out, it’s that I’m able to then show up for everyone around me,” added another.

If you’ve been frustrated by supplements that deliver vague promises of balanced hormones, Alori’s more personalized approach may be worth exploring. Whether you choose the Balanced Baddie Bundle or start with Not Today, Estrogen or Cortisol, Who?, the brand makes it easy to support the areas that matter most to you.

‘Back to the Future’ Is Officially Getting a New Release in 2026

Published

on

0140257_poster_w780-2.jpg

It’s almost impossible to imagine Back to the Future as anything other than the lightning-in-a-bottle blockbuster we all know now. So much of it is iconic. The DeLorean, the clock tower, “Great Scott,” everything being heavy — is there some sort of problem with the Earth’s gravitational pull in the future? — it all fits together too perfectly. The road to getting it on screen wasn’t the easiest, but it was well worth it, spawning an epic franchise and a brand name that will outlive us all. Now, we’re about to get even more of it.

Co-creator Bob Gale is opening up the franchise’s archive for Back to the Future: The Complete Screenplay, a new book arriving later this year to mark the movie’s 40th anniversary. The release reproduces Gale’s personal shooting script, complete with revision pages, handwritten notes, deleted scenes, rare photos, sketches, production documents, and a treasure trove of gems for BTTF diehards like ourselves.

“This is going to be really instructional about how movies are made, how scripts are written,” Gale said in a new interview. “The mistakes are in there, the deleted scenes are in there, the stuff that we changed, stuff that we thought we were going to do that we didn’t do. It’s chock full of stuff like that.”

Among the biggest reveals is that Jeff Goldblum was seriously considered for Doc Brown before Christopher Lloyd landed the role. Gale said the casting was close, adding that viewers can get a sense of what Goldblum’s version may have felt like by watching him in Jurassic Park.

“Jeff Goldblum came in. We loved Jeff. He was great. And it was close [between him and Christopher Lloyd]. Ironically, Jeff Goldblum plays Doc Brown in Jurassic Park, right? That’s how his Doc Brown would have been. You can watch Jurassic Park and say, ‘Ah, that’s how Jeff would have played it.’”

Your Fate Has Been Calculated
You’d Survive In…
Advertisement

Your answers point to the world your instincts were built for. This is the universe your temperament, your survival instincts, and your particular brand of stubbornness were made for.

The Resistance, Zion

The Matrix

You took the red pill a long time ago — probably before anyone offered it to you. You’re a systems thinker who can’t help but notice the seams in things.

  • You’re drawn to understanding how the system works before figuring out how to break it.
  • You’d find the Resistance, or it would find you — your instinct for spotting constructed realities is the machines’ worst nightmare.
  • You function best when you have access to information and the freedom to act on it.
  • The Matrix built an airtight prison. You’d be the one probing the walls for the door.

The Wasteland

Mad Max

The wasteland doesn’t reward the clever or the well-connected — it rewards those who are hard to kill and harder to break. That’s you.

  • You don’t need comfort, community, or a cause larger than the next horizon.
  • You need a vehicle, a clear threat, and enough fuel to outrun it — and you’re good at all three.
  • You are unsentimental enough to survive that world, and decent enough — just barely — to be something more than another raider.
  • In the wasteland, that distinction is everything.

Los Angeles, 2049

Blade Runner

You’d survive here because you know how to exist in moral grey areas without losing yourself completely.

  • You read people accurately, keep your circle small, and ask the questions others prefer not to answer.
  • In a city where humanity is a legal designation rather than a feeling, you hold onto something that keeps you functional.
  • You’re not a hero. But you’re not lost, either.
  • In Blade Runner’s world, that distinction is everything.

Arrakis

Dune

Arrakis is the most hostile environment in the known universe — and you are precisely the kind of person it rewards.

  • Patience, discipline, and political awareness are your core strengths — and on Arrakis, they’re survival tools.
  • You understand that the long game matters more than any single victory.
  • Others come to Dune and are consumed by it. You’d learn its logic and earn its respect.
  • In time, you wouldn’t just survive Arrakis — you’d begin to reshape it.

A Galaxy Far, Far Away

Star Wars

The galaxy far, far away is vast, loud, and in a constant state of violent political upheaval — and you wouldn’t have it any other way.

  • You find meaning in being part of something larger than yourself — a cause, a crew, a rebellion.
  • You’d gravitate toward the Rebellion, or the fringes, or whatever pocket of the galaxy still believes the Empire’s grip can be broken.
  • You fight — not because you have to, but because standing aside isn’t something you’re capable of.
  • In Star Wars, that willingness is what makes all the difference.

Will there be a ‘Back to the Future’ Sequel?

For anyone hoping the book is a sign that another sequel is on the way, Gale was very clear. He and Robert Zemeckis are not interested in making Back to the Future Part IV, particularly without Fox as Marty. Good.

“The most important one is: who wants to see a Back to the Future movie without Michael J. Fox? Nobody wants to see that. And he can’t do it. And do we even want to see Marty McFly at age 60? We don’t want to see that, either. So, let’s leave well enough alone.”

The standard edition of Back to the Future: The Complete Screenplay arrives October 20, timed to Back to the Future Day, with collector’s and limited editions also available through Insight Editions.

Rebecca Ferguson’s Apple TV Sci-Fi Series Is Officially a Certified Masterpiece

Published

on

silo-poster.jpg

When it comes to streaming sci-fi, there aren’t many more valuable subscriptions than Apple TV. Some of the very best sci-fi shows of the last decade are available exclusively on the streamer, including the epic Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, the underrated sci-fi comedy The Big Door Prize, the many twists and turns of Dark Matter, the decades-spanning For All Mankind, and, of course, the mind-boggling labyrinthine mystery of Severance. But of all these shows, few have a better reputation than Silo, Apple TV’s genius sci-fi hit based on Hugh Howey’s New York Times bestselling trilogy (Wool, Shift, and Dust).

After two near-perfect seasons, the Emmy Award-winning Graham Yost series returns on July 3, as one of the most hotly anticipated returning shows of this summer across all streaming platforms. Rebecca Ferguson returns as Juliette Nichols, following a particularly busy year for the acclaimed actress, which includes the AI-based sci-fi thriller, Mercy, alongside Cillian Murphy in Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, and as the villainous Dame Snap in the fantasy adaptation The Magic Faraway Tree.

Ahead of Ferguson’s Dune: Part Three, the final installment in Denis Villeneuve‘s acclaimed adaptation of Frank Herbert‘s Dune novels that arrives on December 18, the embargo has finally been lifted for Silo‘s third season, and the response has so far been perfect. On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, Silo Season 3 has earned a perfect 100% score, at the time of writing. This improves on the second season’s 92% score and the first season’s 88%. ScreenRant wrote that “Apple TV dystopian sci-fi series starts an exciting new era,” with CBR writing, “At this rate, Silo is heading for a stellar ending that will be hard to beat, and perhaps then, people will finally recognize the spellbinding allure of Silo.”

Your Hero Has Been Identified
Your Sci-Fi Hero Is…

Your answers point to the iconic sci-fi hero who shares your instincts, your values, and your particular way of facing the impossible.

Arrakis · Dune

Paul Atreides

You carry a weight most people would crumble under — the knowledge of what you’re capable of, and the burden of what you might have to become.

  • You see further ahead than others and you plan accordingly, even when the vision frightens you.
  • You are driven by loyalty to your people and a sense of destiny you didn’t ask for but can’t escape.
  • Paul Atreides is not simply a hero — he is someone who understands the cost of power and chooses to bear it anyway.
  • That gravity, that willingness to carry what others won’t, is exactly you.

USS Enterprise · Star Trek

Captain Kirk

You lead with instinct, warmth, and an absolute refusal to accept a no-win scenario — because you’ve always believed there’s a third option nobody else has thought of yet.

  • You take the mission seriously without ever taking yourself too seriously.
  • Your crew would follow you anywhere, not because you demand it, but because you’ve earned it.
  • Kirk’s genius isn’t tactical — it’s human. He reads people, bends rules with purpose, and wills outcomes into existence through sheer conviction.
  • That combination of warmth, audacity, and relentless optimism is unmistakably yours.

The Rebellion · Star Wars

Princess Leia

You are the kind of person who holds the line when everyone else is losing faith — not because you’re fearless, but because giving up simply isn’t something you’re capable of.

  • You lead through conviction. Your voice carries because your belief is unshakeable.
  • You gave up everything ordinary the moment you chose the cause, and you’ve never looked back.
  • Leia is not a supporting character in her own story — she is the moral centre of the entire rebellion.
  • That same fierce, principled, unbreakable core is what defines you.

The Nostromo · Alien

Ellen Ripley

You are not reckless, not grandiose, and not particularly interested in being anyone’s hero — you just refuse to stop when it matters.

  • You see threats clearly, you document the truth even when no one listens, and when the time comes you handle it yourself.
  • Ripley’s heroism is earned, not performed. She doesn’t have a speech — she has a flamethrower and a plan.
  • You share her composure under the worst possible pressure, and her refusal to pretend the monster isn’t there.
  • When it counts, you don’t flinch. That’s everything.

The Wasteland · Mad Max

Max Rockatansky

You have been through fire that would break most people — and what came out the other side is something the world underestimates at its peril.

  • You don’t ask for help, don’t need validation, and don’t wait for anyone to tell you the rules no longer apply.
  • Your loyalty, when it finally arrives, is absolute — but it’s earned in silence and tested in action, not in words.
  • Max is not a nihilist. He is someone who lost everything and found, against his will, that he still has something worth protecting.
  • That bruised, stubborn, ultimately human core is exactly yours.

What Did Collider Say About ‘Silo’ Season 3?

In her review of Season 3 for Collider, Tania Hussain similarly gushed over its quality, praising “emotionally rich storytelling,” “nuanced performances,” and intimate character-driven focus.” “Three seasons in, Silo somehow still finds new ways to surprise,” Hussain wrote, adding, “Silo proves once again why it’s not only Apple TV’s best shows, but also one of the best shows currently on television. Thoughtful, gripping, and beautifully made, it sets a new standard for what prestige sci-fi can be.” A fourth season of Silo has already been announced.

Silo Season 3 has earned a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes and will premiere on Apple TV on July 3.

The 90s Crime Anime That Makes R-Rated Look Like Disney

By Douglas Helm
| Published

Mad Bull 34 is a bonkers 90s OVA anime series based on the manga series of the same name written by Kazuo Koike and illustrated by Noriyoshi Inoue. While you would be hard-pressed to find a streaming service that lets you easily watch this hyper-violent series, you can check out a rip of it on Archive.org. If you like the buddy-cop genre, a ton of violence, and crass humor in your anime, then this might fit what you’re looking for.

This Cop Doesn’t Play By The Rules

Mad Bull 34 ran from 1985 to 1991 in Shueisha’s Young Jump before eventually getting a four-part original video animation that was released from 1990 to 1992. The series follows the toughest and most imposing cop in the 34th precinct of the NYPD, “Sleepy” John Estes, aka “Mad Bull,” and his partners Daizaburo “Eddie” Ban and Perrine Valley. Mad Bull is basically the definition of a loose-cannon cop, killing criminals without hesitation, and causing a ton of collateral damage while hunting them down.

Problematic Is An Understatement

Mad Bull 34

Mad Bull 34 can be accurately described as problematic in a lot of ways, but if you like the craziness of 90s OVAs then this series is well-animated, full of creatively violent scenes, and zany characters. The series even has an ending theme song that was composed and performed by none other than James Brown, which is a crazy fact on its own.

The first English DVD release of the series came out from Discotek Media in 2013, and outside of DVD rips online, that’s pretty much the only way you’ll be able to watch it at home.

Hard To Find Today

Mad Bull 34

Diskotek Media ended up losing the license of Mad Bull 34 in 2020, so it’s unlikely that there will ever be a full-on Blu-ray or HD re-release of the show; the version available online is at 720p. You can also choose between watching the dubbed version of the original subbed version, though some fans say the dub for the series is pretty good, which isn’t always the case for older anime. One fan on My Anime List even said the voice-acting is “stupendous” and that the dub is the way to go since the “accents are unbelievably well done.”

Not Good, But Not Boring

Mad Bull 34

Mad Bull 34 is set in New York, so the dubbed version would likely lend some authenticity to the series. Of course, the series is also full of profanity at every turn, which probably just doesn’t have the same impact if you’re not hearing it in your native language. Some fans on My Anime List also mention that the series is “so bad it’s good” because it’s so over the top, with one reviewer explaining, “above all else, it is NOT boring.”

A Throwback To A Different Era

Mad Bull 34

Of course, it’s also worth mentioning again that Mad Bull 34 was created by Kazuo Koike, who is best known for the iconic Lone Wolf and Cub. This series is miles away from Koike’s most legendary work, but it’s still interesting to think this series came from the same mind. In any case, you can access the series through the Internet Archive if you want to rewind back to the 90s’ OVA days.

Tom Brittney Rumored to Be the DCU’s New Batman : Coastal House Media

DC Studios Announces Three New Animated Series Including Absolute Batman, Joker: Laugh Riot, and Krypto : Coastal House Media

DC Studios made one of its biggest animation announcements yet during the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, officially revealing three brand-new animated series: Absolute Batman, Joker: Laugh Riot, and Krypto. The projects were unveiled by DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran alongside Warner Bros. Animation, signaling a major expansion of the studio’s animated slate.

Each series offers a completely different take on the DC Universe, ranging from mature storytelling to family-friendly adventures.

Absolute Batman Brings DC’s Best-Selling Comic to Animation

Perhaps the biggest reveal of the showcase was Absolute Batman, an adult animated adaptation of the hit comic series from Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta.

Rather than following the traditional version of Bruce Wayne, Absolute Batman reimagines the Dark Knight as a working-class hero with none of the wealth, mansion, or high-tech advantages fans have come to expect. The series will adapt the darker, grounded “Absolute Universe” that quickly became one of DC’s biggest publishing successes.

Scott Snyder will serve as executive producer and showrunner, while Nick Dragotta joins the project as a producer. According to DC, the series asks a simple question:

“When you take away the manor, the money, and the advantages… what’s left is Batman.”

Joker: Laugh Riot Gives the Clown Prince His Own Anime

One of the biggest surprises was Joker: Laugh Riot, an adult anime series being produced with Japanese animation studio SOLA Entertainment.

The premise completely flips the traditional Batman/Joker dynamic.

After Batman is murdered, the Joker launches a violent campaign across Gotham’s criminal underworld to hunt down whoever killed his greatest enemy. As his investigation unfolds, Joker begins drifting closer to becoming a vigilante than a villain, forcing him to question who he really is without Batman.

The series will be directed by Yasuhiro Aoki with Jim Krieg serving as executive producer.

It’s one of the boldest concepts DC has announced in years and marks the company’s newest push into anime storytelling.

Krypto Targets a Younger Audience

Balancing the darker projects is Krypto, a family-oriented animated series centered on Superman’s loyal canine companion.

Created by C.H. Greenblatt (Chowder), the show follows Krypto as he accidentally becomes involved with a group of aspiring criminals. Instead of helping them commit crimes, Superman’s best friend gradually teaches the gang how to become better people.

The series appears aimed squarely at younger viewers while maintaining the humor that Greenblatt is known for.

DC Continues Expanding Its Animation Slate

The announcements demonstrate that DC Studios isn’t relying on a single animation style or audience.

Between mature comic adaptations like Absolute Batman, experimental projects like Joker: Laugh Riot, and all-ages shows like Krypto, the studio appears committed to offering something for every kind of DC fan.

With James Gunn and Peter Safran continuing to build DC’s future across film, television, and animation, today’s reveal suggests animation will remain a major pillar of the new DC era.

Netflix Fantasy Adventure Epic Blockbuster Is One-Of-A-Kind Adaptation

By Jeffrey Rapaport

Gamers and fantasy devotees need look no further than Netflix for their next fix: the streaming platform sports 2016’s Warcraft in its roster, an action fantasy film based on the acclaimed video game series by Blizzard Entertainment. Directed by Duncan Jones, the film delivers an epic tale of fantasy-infused war, magic, and heroism, anchored in the aesthetic and unmistakable sensibility of the beloved videogame.

Beyond The Dark Portal

The film, charting the dueling narratives of the Stormwind humans and Frostwolf orcs, centers around the orcs utilizing dark but powerful magic to save their Horde. Through said magic, a kind of fantasy, sacrifice-powered super-weapon, the orcs open a portal bridging their world to the humans. From there, the two camps wage an exhilarating, cross-dimensional battle.

Battling Out Of Developmental Hell

Warcraft 2016

While the real-time strategy (RTS) games and the hugely popular massively multiplayer RPG game set in the Warcraft universe preceded it, the movie’s origins also predate its eventual theatrical debut. In 2006, Blizzard Entertainment and Legendary Pictures began a collaborative venture for a big-screen feature film, one greeted with global fanfare.

Fanfare sank into disappointment and frustration, however, as die-hard fans watched the effort to turn the fantasy universe into a film endure a slew of delays and massive changes in direction, otherwise known as production hell.

Helmed By A Daring Director

Warcraft 2016

Progress was restored when Duncan Jones (fun fact alert: the son of musical legend David Bowie) took the helm. Jones, having won critical respect and sizable audiences with projects like the sci-fi darling Moon, readily rewrote the Warcraft script. He endeavored to reflect a balanced take on the conflict between humans and orcs, breaking away from the traditional good vs. evil trope.

LOTHAR

Warcraft 2016

For those accustomed to and familiar with the games’ eye-catching, enjoyable, and quintessential animation style, the film will not disappoint. Indeed, it’s a visual marvel, in which the colorful grandeur of Azeroth unfolds via effective special effects and strong CGI. Of particular noteworthiness are the battle scenes, enriched by intense choreography and striking visuals.

Cast-wise in Warcraft, Travis Fimmel performs ably as the charismatic Anduin Lothar. Perhaps the film’s most memorable role belongs to Paula Patton as Garona, the she-orc who leads the orc charge through the inter-dimensional portal.

For The Glory Of The Horde

Warcraft 2016

The film premiered in Paris on May 24, 2016, before being released in the US less than a month later, with Universal Pictures overseeing the US debut. The enormous fanbase for both the games and fictional universe, alongside a talented director’s noticeable visual flair and involvement, was not enough to secure the reviews the film’s producers hoped for. Reviews were decidedly mixed.

Currently, Rotten Tomatoes assigns Warcraft a suboptimal 29 percent, based on 231 reviews. Experts enjoyed Jones’ credible directorial talents and the project’s impactful style, recognizing the cinematic realization of the games’ aesthetic. But the plot struck many as plodding and unoriginal.

Made Hundreds Of Millions But Lost Money

Warcraft 2016

Warcraft also suffered financially, failing to exceed its break-even point of a staggering half a billion dollars. The budget was bloated due to extensive global marketing and distribution costs. Much of this international marketing and distribution effort was directed at China, where the film earned $225.5 million.

But between the nearly fifty million grossed statewide and the $439 million made worldwide, the end result was, sadly, a box-office bust.

As of this writing, Warcraft is streaming on Netflix.

Lizzo was among several high-profile attendees at the ceremony, joining stars including Teyana Taylor, Coco Jones and Jaafar Jackson. Lizzo Opens Up About Body Image And Her ‘Weight Release’ Journey

Lizzo’s connection to the BET Awards stretches back years. In 2020, she won Best Female R&B/Pop Artist and has earned multiple nominations throughout her career.

In recent years, the Grammy-winning performer has spoken openly about what she describes as her “weight release” journey, which began in 2023. Rather than focusing on loss, Lizzo has emphasized personal growth and well-being, explaining that her goal was never about taking something away from herself but about gaining a healthier and happier version of her life.

Speaking on Jay Shetty’s “On Purpose” podcast, she discussed the importance of language when talking about body image, noting that young people often absorb and internalize messages from public figures.

“I want to be very intentional about the words that come out of my mouth because there are young people who are watching me and they’re experiencing what I’m putting into the world,” she explained. “They’re applying it to their own experience and their own life just like I did when I was a kid.”

The “Good as Hell” hitmaker also reflected on how media conversations surrounding weight changes have influenced public perception, urging people to be mindful of the impact their words can have on others.

She acknowledged that her own journey has sparked discussions among fans and said she hopes those conversations can help people feel more comfortable and less fearful when it comes to changes in their bodies.

The Singer Says Authenticity Is The Key To Building A Loyal Fanbase

More recently, Lizzo spoke candidly about her career and the value of authenticity during an appearance on the “Swiftologist” podcast.

During the conversation, she praised Taylor Swift’s ability to build a loyal fan community, suggesting that the pop star’s connection with her audience developed “organically” over time  rather than through a calculated strategy, resulting in a community that “backs her up, and that’s what everyone needs to be doing.”

According to Lizzo, authenticity remains one quality that will “never go out of style.” She noted that audiences are often drawn to people who present themselves honestly, both in their work and in everyday life. The singer added that she has noticed some of her most genuine and unfiltered social media posts frequently resonate more strongly than highly curated content.

The discussion also touched on the commercial performance of her latest album. According to figures reported by Rolling Stone, the project sold 2,649 copies in its opening week and did not chart on the Billboard 200, a sharp contrast to the debut of her 2022 album “Special,” which sold approximately 39,000 copies during its first week.

Lizzo Reflects On ‘Soul-Crushing’ Album Performance

Lizzo admitted the numbers initially left her feeling “really stressed and really sad,” especially because she considers the album among her strongest works. For a brief period, she said, she found herself tying her self-worth to its performance, describing the experience as “soul-crushing.”

During that difficult time, Lizzo said she received support from fellow artist SZA, whose real name is Solána Rowe. According to the singer, SZA reached out to check on her well-being and reassured her when self-doubt began to creep in.

Reflecting on the experience, Lizzo acknowledged that she eventually had to accept how much the music industry has changed and recognize that commercial performance is no longer the only measure of an artist’s impact. She said the setback helped her reassess her relationship with success and the expectations she places on herself.
