10 Vikings Predictions for 2026 on the Last Day of June
The calendar flips to July in one day, the month when Minnesota Vikings training camp begins. So, we are here with some summer predictions for the 2026 club, getting theories out in the open before the summer turns white hot.
We will, of course, lock in formal predictions right before Week 1, as well, but consider these official, too.
10 Summer Calls for the Vikings in 2026
1. Will Fries Rebounds
Fries signed a five-year, $87,720,000 deal in Minnesota during 2025 free agency and produced a 61.8 Pro Football Focus grade upon arriving. At that price, his PFF mark should be 81.8, not 61.8,
The veteran guard won’t quite hit 81.8 this season, but he’ll climb into the 70s, rebuilding his reputation along the way. Fans decided he was terrible after last season, but that is not true. He just wasn’t worth the huge contract.
2. The Offensive Line Stays Healthier, Finishes as Top 12 Group
Everyone besides Fries missed games in 2025 due to injury. In 2026, the offensive line won’t be totally immune to injury, but they won’t utterly ravage the group to the point where the main starting lineup never sees the field.
The OL finished 18th per PFF last year despite the missed games; it will bounce back in 2026 with good health and a Top 12 overall ranking.
3. Fans Realize the Cardinals Should Not Have Cut Kyler Murray
Murray will remain mostly healthy, the Vikings will reach the postseason, and he’ll deliver between 29 and 32 touchdowns. You won’t wonder, “Is Kyler Murray even good?” throughout the regular season; the eye test will deliver a verdict as early as Weeks 1 and 2.
Like the Vikings’ ordeal with Sam Darnold and the Seattle Seahawks, the world will poke fun at the Arizona Cardinals for dropping Murray and paying him to play for the Vikings.
4. Demond Claiborne Feels like Ty Chandler
Minnesota is wickedly overdue to empower a young running back, but that will only appear in flashes with Claiborne. He has straight-line speed, yet it’s unclear whether he can break tackles at an RB1 clip or possesses a bellcow halfback’s vision.
Claiborne will bust off a sweet game or two, leaving a cliffhanger for the 2027 offseason, where fans wonder if he’ll transform into more than an RB1 or RB2.
5. The Vikings Trade No Draft Picks during the Season
Minnesota hired Nolan Teasley about four weeks ago, and he’s not about to offload draft picks during his first season on the job. The 2027 draft is expected to showcase more talent than most. Teasley will make his main impact in the draft — the Vikings need that — so trading picks for veterans before the November 3rd deadline will not appeal to him.
He could, however, trade a player like safety Theo Jackson for a 6th- or 7th-round pick, thereby stockpiling his war chest.
6. Starting CBs Miss at Least 6 Games Combined
A fun fact: Minnesota’s main starting cornerbacks, Byron Murphy Jr and Isaiah Rodgers, missed zero games last year. That’s pretty rare.
Unfortunately, that will change in 2026, with James Pierre and rookie Charles Demmings seeing relief action. Neither will disappoint.
7. Domonique Orange’s Consistency Leads All Rookie Headlines
Caleb Banks, the Vikings’ 1st-Rounder, will take a while to acclimate to the league, and new linebacker Jake Golday is considered “raw.”
Those things won’t beset Orange, who will win the starting nose tackle job immediately and stuff opposing running backs as early as September. By December, Orange will feel like a draft steal because of his rookie game-readiness.
8. J.J. McCarthy Starts 2 or 3 Games
Murray usually misses at least three games per year, and that won’t change in 2026. McCarthy will trot in for relief, show marked improvement from last year, and — you guessed it — the Vikings will have yet another quarterback debate on their hands. Fans will divide into camps over who to play in December — Murray or McCarthy?
9. Dallas Turner Logs Double-Digit Sacks
Turner played 300 snaps as a rookie and tallied 3 sacks. Then, he saw action on 702 plays in his second year, with 8 sacks to his name.
In 2026, he’ll play about 800 snaps and record 11 sacks. The guy will basically improve annually because that’s how it works. Turner-themed debates will largely vanish; it will just become established that he’s pretty damn good.
10. The Vikings Finish 11-6
Minnesota has the roster to win the NFC North and finally win a playoff game for the first time since 2019. The hurdle? The NFC North teams — they’re formidable from cover to cover. There is no longer a team or two to beat up on.
That prevents the Vikings from winning the division — Detroit will prevail — but Kevin O’Connell and friends will finish 11-6 and play football on Wildcard Weekend.

Nations Championship: No Finn Russell for Scotland against Argentina as Jonny Gray returns
Finn Russell will not feature in Scotland’s opening Nations Championship match of the summer series but could feature against South Africa, says head coach Gregor Townsend, who welcomes back Jonny Gray.
Fly-half Russell, 33, has not fully recovered from the calf injury that kept him out of the latter part of Bath’s domestic campaign and was not considered for the match at Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes in Cordoba on Saturday (20:10 BST). The Scots face the Springboks in Pretoria on 11 July then Fiji at Murrayfield on 18 July.
Tom Jordan starts at 10 in Russell’s absence, with Fergus Burke among the replacements.
Gray returns against the Pumas, having missed this year’s Six Nations, while fellow lock Scott Cummings, 29, and prop Pierre Schoeman, 32, will win their 50th caps.
“Great for [Jonny Gray] to be back in the squad,” said Townsend. “Since his move to Perpignan, he’s played very well so his form’s been rewarded with this opportunity. It’s nice obviously nice that him and Scott Cummings are playing together.
“Jonny was at Glasgow when Scott came through as an 18-year-old. It will be great to see them both back int he second row again.”
Overall, the XV in Cordoba shows eight personnel changes to the team that finished the Six Nations with defeat to Ireland in Dublin in mid-March.
Full-back Kyle Rowe, centre Rory Hutchinson, wing Jamie Dobie, fly-half Tom Jordan, hooker George Turner, prop Elliot Millar-Mills and Cummings are the players joining Gray in coming in to the side.
Kyle Steyn moves from left to right wing to accommodate Dobie. Prop Zander Fagerson and wing Darcy Graham, who started in Dublin, drop to the bench.
Gregor Hiddleston could make his Scotland debut off the bench.
“We’ll have to gel quickly,” Townsend said.
“It’s our first game since we played in Dublin. We’ve got a lot of evidence in the Six Nations and November that when we get our game in place in attack and defence, we can cause problems to any team in world rugby and do more than that, convert opportunities.
“I believe that our squad now is much deeper and we use that bench to continue what the starters are doing or actually raise the energy.”
Scotland: Rowe, Steyn, Hutchinson, Tuipulotu (capt), Dobie, Jordan, White; Schoeman, Ashman, Millar-Mills, Gray, Cummings, M Fagerson, Darge, Dempsey.
Replacements: Hiddleston, Sutherland, Z Fagerson, Samuel, Brown, Horne, Burke, Graham.

Risa Sato joins Akari ahead of new season
Risa Sato is the Akari Chargers’ latest signing ahead of the new PVL season. –AKARI CHARGERS
MANILA, Philippines — Akari has tapped 11-time champion Risa Sato ahead of the new Premier Volleyball League (PVL) season.

“Ready to bring in her championship experience and energy. Risa will be a huge boost for the Chargers. Let’s go!” Akari wrote.

Sato is reunited with former Creamline teammate Ced Domingo, fortifying the Chargers’ frontline with Fifi Sharma.

Shakur Stevenson targets fight with world champion who will ‘bring the best out of him’
Shakur Stevenson has never looked close to losing during his professional career but he thinks there is one fighter out there that could potentially push him to his limit.
Stevenson has become one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world after securing world honours in four divisions from featherweight to super-lightweight.
He has beaten fighters such as William Zepeda, Oscar Valdez and Jamel Herring, and last time out picked up his biggest win to date when he defeated Teofimo Lopez by unanimous decision to become WBO super-lightweight champion.
There has been much speculation since that win over who Stevenson may face next, and he has named who he possibly would like it to be if he had his way.
Posting on social media, Stevenson revealed his desire for a fight against Gary Antuanne Russell.
“I rather fight Antuanne Russell.. That’s a fighter who will bring the best out of me!!”
Russell is the current WBA super-lightweight champion, winning the belt with a win over Jose Valenzuela in March 2025 before making a successful defence against Andy Hiraoka in February.
A fight between Stevenson and Russell would present the fighters with a unification opportunity at 140lbs, but there are also a number of other options available for the current WBO champion.
One of those include WBO welterweight champion Devin Haney, who has been linked to a 144lb catchweight bout against Stevenson, but ‘The Dream’ also has a mandatory bout against Keyshawn Davis to contend with, along with a possible clash with Gervonta Davis.

St. George Illawarra Dragons vs Wests Tigers Preview
St George Illawarra hosts the Wests Tigers on Saturday afternoon in a clash that could prove significant for both clubs’ finals aspirations. The Tigers receive a timely boost with the return of Adam Doueihi, whose versatility and attacking instincts add another dimension alongside halfback Jock Madden. The Dragons, however, have become one of the competition’s tougher sides to break down, consistently dragging opponents into low-scoring contests built on field position and defence. They pushed Newcastle all the way last week and will again back their ability to grind their way into the contest. With little separating the two teams, discipline and patience may ultimately decide what shapes as an evenly balanced encounter.
Head To Head Bet
We’re tipping Wests Tigers to win at $1.58 odds.

Philippines’ Alexandra Eala returns to Mexico’s Renata Zarazua during their women’s singles first round tennis match on the second day of the 2026 Wimbledon Championships at The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon, southwest London, on June 30, 2026. AFP
Alex Eala collected a milestone—for herself and for the country—with her victory at Wimbledon. She also earned something else: A shot at redemption.
Fresh off her first main-draw win at the All England Club, Eala will face Maya Joint in the second round of the Wimbledon Championships, a rematch of a showdown that produced one of the most unforgettable defeats of her young career.
The two last met in the 2025 Eastbourne Open final, where Eala came within a point of claiming her first WTA title before Joint rallied to deny her despite the Filipino ace holding four championship points. The defeat stung, but it also marked history as Eala became the first female player from the Philippines to reach a WTA singles final.
“A really great match,” Eala recalled after her Wimbledon opener. “I’d love to have the chance to improve on some things that I could have improved from that match.”
A year later, much has changed.

Brisbane Broncos vs Cronulla Sharks Preview
Cronulla faces a crucial test of its top-eight credentials when it travels to Brisbane on Saturday night. The Sharks have remained competitive despite the absence of Nicho Hynes, with Braydon Trindall continuing to guide the side around the park, but consistency remains their biggest challenge. Brisbane has been hit hard by injuries throughout the season, yet Michael Maguire’s side continues to compete with determination and will relish the opportunity to test a fellow finals contender at Suncorp Stadium. Young playmaker Thomas Duffy has impressed in recent weeks, adding further intrigue to an attack searching for stability. With both clubs chasing momentum entering the final third of the season, this looms as a pivotal contest.

Folarin Balogun suspended for USA vs Belgium after World Cup red card
NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!
Folarin Balogun’s teammates came to his defense after the USA World Cup star was given a red card during the team’s 2-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday night.
Balogun received the red card after he stepped on defender Tarik Muharemovic’s right ankle. Brazilian referee Raphael Claus only gave Balogun the card after a VAR review. The red card meant Balogun will not be able to play in the team’s Round of 16 match against Belgium.

A FIFA official told The Athletic a team cannot appeal against the red card or the suspension. The official pointed the outlet to a portion of the organization’s rules and regulations, which states, “A sending-off automatically incurs suspension from the subsequent match. The FIFA judicial bodies may impose additional match suspensions and other disciplinary measures.”
Balogun’s teammate, Weston McKennie, called the lack of an appeal process “bogus” and disagreed with the referee’s decision to issue the red card.

“Obviously the ref made a decision that he made, but I think it’s questionable,” McKennie said. “I think there’s been many other plays like that throughout the tournament on other players that a card wasn’t given at all. It’s disappointing.”
U.S. coach Mauricio Pochettino said Balogun’s act “was never intentional.”
“It’s never a red card. Never. … If the intention is to damage the opponent, OK, I understand. But that never was. It was a normal action in football that you are fighting for the ball and your feet land,” he said.
Balogun is the third player to score in a World Cup knockout match and be sent off. He follows Brazil’s Ronaldinho in 2002’s quarterfinal match against England and France’s Zinedine Zidane in the 2006 World Cup final against Italy.

Pirates look to slow Phillies’ explosive offense in series finale
Jun 30, 2026; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA; Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner (7) and center fielder Justin Crawford (2) celebrate win against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Citizens Bank Park. Mandatory Credit: Eric Hartline-Imagn Images Trea Turner and the Philadelphia Phillies have scored 25 runs in their three games against the Pittsburgh Pirates this week.
The Phillies hope to author another strong offensive performance Thursday afternoon, when the Pirates visit for the finale of a four-game set.
Philadelphia jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the series opener on Monday before Pittsburgh rallied for an 11-7 victory. The Phillies took back the momentum with an 8-0 triumph on Tuesday, then carried over their good fortunes into a 10-6 victory on Wednesday.
The Phillies got Paul Skenes to surrender a career-high eight runs (seven earned) in four innings on Wednesday, with Turner and Brandon Marsh homering against the reigning National League Cy Young Award winner. Turner has gone 2-for-5 with a homer in all three games of the series.
“I feel like the last three or four weeks have been pretty solid,” Turner said. “I know how good I am. I know how good I can be, focusing on the last three weeks and getting back to two-strike hitting and scoring runs. I feel like I’ve scored runs at a really good clip because the guys behind me are playing so well. But that’s my job, to score runs, so I feel like the last few weeks have been really good.”
Alec Bohm also homered for Philadelphia, which has won seven of its past nine games.
Pittsburgh, meanwhile, received three RBIs from Jared Triolo and a homer from Henry Davis but still lost for the fourth time in six games.
“I thought our approach was awesome off (Zack Wheeler),” Pirates manager Don Kelly said of the Philadelphia starter, who struck out 10 in 4 2/3 innings but also allowed four runs on nine hits. “To go 4 2/3 and get him over 100 pitches and find a way to score — we just need to find a way to keep them down and continue to hit like that.”
The Pirates will try to bounce back behind Jared Jones (1-1, 5.76 ERA), who has yet to work more than five innings in any of his first six starts this season. He lasted 4 2/3 innings against the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday, allowing four runs (three earned) in a no-decision.
“Not in a good spot,” Jones said, assessing his season. “I have a five and a half ERA through six starts and giving up homers. Not in a good spot at all.”
Jones made one start against the Phillies two seasons ago and allowed three runs while striking out eight in 6 1/3 innings during a defeat.
He will be opposed by Alan Rangel (0-1, 4.50 ERA), who will be making the first start of his major league career. The 28-year-old has made eight relief appearances over the last two seasons, although several of those were essentially starts where the team used an opener.
Rangel gave up four runs in four innings on Saturday during a 6-2 loss to the New York Mets.
“I felt like he kind of had those guys off-balance,” interim manager Don Mattingly said of Rangel. “Even that (four-run sixth) inning … nothing really scorched or anything. So I thought he was good.”
Rangel faced the Pirates in his major league debut last year, allowing two runs in three innings.
Philadelphia is 5-1 against Pittsburgh in the season series, which ends Thursday.

Free 2026 World Cup anytime goalscorer picks, odds: Lamine Yamal, Bruno Fernandes among Thursday’s best bets
We have your 2026 World Cup anytime goalscorer picks for Thursday’s three knockout games
•
2 min read
Three more knockout matches are set for Thursday, July 2 at the 2026 World Cup, and anyone who wants to try their hand at wagering on anytime goalscorers has plenty of options. Thursday’s Round of 32 World Cup 2026 action kicks off with Austria vs. Spain at 3 p.m. ET, followed by Croatia vs. Portugal at 7 p.m. ET and Algeria vs. Switzerland at 11 p.m. ET. Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal are favored at -130 on the money line in the latest FanDuel odds, while Luka Modric and Croatia are +400 underdogs and a 90-minute draw is priced at +250.
Ronaldo is world football’s all-time leading scorer and is the +115 favorite among anytime goalscorers at FanDuel, but there is value (and a much bigger potential profit) available on other players. Nailing an ATGS pick is one of the toughest things to do in soccer betting, but if you dig in on the odds, you can find solid options beyond the obvious. For more analysis of the 2026 World Cup, you should see what SportsLine experts Jon Eimer, Martin Green and Brad Thomas have to say about the matches. Anyone following their World Cup betting advice at sportsbooks and on betting apps could have seen huge returns.
Best World Cup goalscorer picks for Thursday
- Lamine Yamal, Spain (+125)
- Bruno Fernandes, Portugal (+270)
- Ibrahim Maza, Algeria (+550)
Lamine Yamal, Spain (+125)
The youngster will be the most electric player on the field and while he might not put in a full 90 minutes, he will have an impact when he’s out there. The 18-year-old was held to one shot against Uruguay but had five shots and a goal in the rout of Saudi Arabia, and La Roja will rely on his creativity in this crucial match. Spain don’t have a ton of clear scoring threats outside Mikel Oyarzabal and Yamal, so one of them is probably going to score here and I’m leaning toward the emerging superstar.
Bruno Fernandes, Portugal (+270)
Ronaldo gets all the accolades, but Fernandes is the steady hand in the Portuguese attack. The Manchester United veteran closed the Premier League season with a goal against Brighton then had another in a friendly with Chile on June 6. I expect him to open his account at the World Cup on Thursday. The 31-year-old has 29 goals in 92 international matches with Portugal. He is one of the most savvy players on the pitch and knows how important this game is. He’ll be looking to come up big.
Ibrahim Maza, Algeria (+550)
The 20-year-old hasn’t been intimidated and has been among the best on the team in terms of expected goals in the past two matches. He has seven shots (three on net) over the past two games, posting a 0.49 xG against Jordan and 0.60 against Austria. Both were the highest among players who failed to score. I’m expecting Maza to break through here. He has started all three games after quickly becoming a starter for Bayer Leverkusen in the German Bundesliga, and he’s just getting started.

Parramatta Eels vs Manly Sea Eagles Preview
Manly heads to CommBank Stadium looking to overcome another setback when it faces a Parramatta side refusing to let its season fade away. The Sea Eagles must now adjust without experienced halfback Luke Brooks, placing added responsibility on young Joey Walsh as the club enters a critical stage of the campaign. Parramatta has consistently shown resilience despite an injury-ravaged season and continues to challenge more fancied opponents through effort and commitment. Manly remains the stronger side on paper, but the Eels have developed a reputation for making life difficult regardless of the circumstances. Another spirited performance would come as little surprise in what shapes as a dangerous assignment for the visitors.
