The Worst Sci-Fi Remake of the Decade Gets Steamrolled by Chris Pratt
The walls are closing in on Rebecca Ferguson and Chris Pratt‘s new sci-fi film, Mercy, which opened to poor reviews and an underwhelming box office reception a few weeks ago. The movie hasn’t recouped its reported $60 million budget yet, and seems unlikely to turn a profit theatrically. It will have to rely on its surprisingly solid audience scores on the PVOD and streaming markets, where similar titles tend to do rather well. Mercy follows a police officer’s life-or-death attempt to clear his name after being accused of murdering his wife. Pratt plays the police officer, while Ferguson plays the AI judge in charge of his case. Mercy was directed by Timur Bekmambetov — the pioneer of the “screenlife” format — who previously worked with Pratt on the 2008 action film Wanted.
Since then, Pratt has established himself as one of his generation’s biggest stars, while Bekmambetov has devoted himself to the “screenlife” format. The filmmaker previously produced movies such as Unfriended and Searching, both of which grossed more and earned more positive reviews than Mercy. The movie holds a 24% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, where the critics’ consensus reads: “Constricting its two stars inside an airless presentation of a clunky techno-thriller premise, Mercy is tedious enough to make you cry uncle.” Despite these setbacks, Mercy‘s 82% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes is an encouraging sign for its home video run. The movie can also celebrate the small victories, such as overtaking past sci-fi movies that performed even more poorly.
Here’s the Sci-Fi Disaster That ‘Mercy’ Has Overtaken
With its $50 million worldwide haul, Mercy has overtaken one of the worst sci-fi remakes of the decade, Flatliners. Released in 2017, the movie featured Elliot Page, Diego Luna, James Norton, Kiersey Clemons, and Nina Dobrev. Flatliners, directed by Niels Arden Oplev, grossed $45 million against a reported budget of $19 million. A remake of the 1990 cult classic of the same name, the movie earned poor reviews, and now holds an unusually low 4% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The aggregator’s consensus reads, “Flatliners falls flat as a horror movie and fails to improve upon its source material, rendering this reboot dead on arrival.” You can watch the movie at home, and check out Mercy in theaters.

Taylor Armstrong Branded ‘Racist’ Following Apology To Bad Bunny
Former Bravo star Taylor Armstrong is facing the consequences of her recent remarks. Earlier this week, Armstrong—a “Real Housewives” veteran—ignited a controversy after issuing critical comments about Bad Bunny‘s Super Bowl Halftime performance.
After facing pushback, Armstrong apologized for her statements, admitting she didn’t connect with the Latino artist’s “creative” direction. Her apology, however, is falling on deaf ears, as many netizens slammed the 54-year-old, labeling her “racist” and calling for others to have her canceled.

Taylor Armstrong Issues Apology Over Bad Bunny Comments

For those who might’ve missed it, Armstrong posted an image to her Instagram Stories following Bad Bunny’s record-breaking Super Bowl Halftime performance in early February 2026. The snap showed her edited over a character from “Gladiator.”
“Were you entertained?? I am embarrassed for the @NFL and Apple for the Super Bowl half time show totally in Spanish with a Cuban flag,” she captioned the post.
Commenters on Reddit reacted strongly to the post, calling the reality star “uneducated.”

Armstrong Responds To Bad Bunny Backlash, Admits She Didn’t ‘Connect’ With The Show
After sparking significant backlash, Armstrong issued a follow-up post, apologizing to anyone she might have offended.
“I want to address my earlier Instagram post about the Super Bowl halftime show. My post did not fully reflect my heart or my respect for the artist and culture as a whole,” she wrote. “The Super Bowl is such a huge American tradition, and while I personally didn’t connect with the creative direction of this year’s halftime show, that doesn’t take away from the fact that Bad Bunny IS an American and that the Spanish language is a prominent aspect of American culture. Evidently, my lack of awareness of the Latin culture led me to mistaken [sic] the flag as Cuban.”

Armstrong added that she plans to “learn from this in the future” so she can be well-informed about different cultures and backgrounds. “That diversity is something I truly respect,” she said.

Fans Are Not Moved By ‘Racist’ Armstrong’s Apology

Bad Bunny’s performance, which showcased some of his biggest hits such as “Tití Me Preguntó,” secured its place as the most-watched Super Bowl Halftime Show of all time. The nearly 15-minute show was a spectacle of flashing lights, groovy choreography, and inspirational messaging.
In a previous interview, Bad Bunny described his performance as a celebration of culture. “It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture, and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL,” he said.
As for Armstrong, the mother of one stated that she never intended to offend “anyone’s culture or language,” adding that she should’ve “taken more time to reflect.”

Armstrong’s plea for forgiveness, though, wasn’t well received by social media users, who called the TV personality “privileged.”
“Why apologize if that’s how you really felt? You don’t unlearn 60yrs of being racist in 3 days,” another wrote.
“How are you learning and growing about respecting cultures at 50 plus?” a third asked.
Jill Zarin Fired From E! After Making Critical Comments About Bad Bunny

Armstrong isn’t the only Bravo alum under fire this week, according to The Blast.
Jill Zarin, an original “Real Housewives of New York” cast member, faced an even harsher consequence when the E! Network terminated her involvement in an upcoming reunion special.
“In light of recent public comments made by Jill Zarin, Blink49 Studios has decided not to move forward with her involvement in The Golden Life,” the network and production shared. “We remain committed to delivering the series in line with our company standards and values.”
Zarin’s firing came after she questioned why there were no “white people” in Bad Bunny’s performance and criticized the Grammy winner for trying to make a “political statement.”

She, too, seemed to walk back her earlier claims in a statement, saying, “I took it down right away. People make mistakes. I’m human.”
Armstrong And Zarin’s Former Boss Issues Shady Response To Their Statements

Andy Cohen, Zarin and Armstrong’s former boss, responded to the women’s statements about Bad Bunny and appeared pleased to no longer maintain a professional connection with them.
“Two people who are not employed by Bravo anymore, so just…” he said.

Rep. Jake Auchincloss Tells Fellow Members of Congress to ‘Touch Grass’
Rep. Jake Auchincloss
Politicians Are Chronically Online
Go Outside, Touch Grass!!!
Published
TMZ.com
Representative Jake Auchincloss says politicians need to ditch their phones and get in touch with nature … telling us most are nice IRL — but they can get real nasty online.
We caught up with the the Democratic Congressman from Massachusetts on Capitol Hill earlier this week … and we asked him about the differences between politicians’ in-person and online personas.
Auchincloss tells us he got a device over Christmas that “bricks” his phone — basically making it a glorified paperweight — and, he thinks his fellows in the House and Senate should get similar tech to brick their own phones and go “touch grass.”
Rep. Auchincloss acknowledges social media is a useful mass communication tool — like newspapers and TV — but he still thinks face-to-face encounters lead to more understanding across political divides.
The congressman also defends most of his colleagues … claiming a vast majority are trying to govern correctly — but a small minority is ruining it for everyone.
Mr. Speaker, can we have Congress outside today?

FBI Blocked From Evidence in Search for Savannah Guthrie’s Mom: Report
The FBI has been blocked from accessing key evidence in the search for Savannah Guthrie’s missing mom, Nancy Guthrie, according to a new report.
A law enforcement official told Reuters on Thursday, February 12, that the FBI requested that the Pima County Sheriff’s Department send physical evidence — including a glove and other DNA — to the bureau’s national crime lab in Quantico, Virginia, for processing as their search for Nancy, 84, continues. Per the official, sheriff Chris Nanos has insisted on using a different lab in Florida, delaying the FBI in its ability to help the case.
Retired FBI agent Scott Curtis addressed the report on Thursday, telling Us Weekly, “Friction between the Sheriff’s Department and the FBI will not help matters.” Curtis is also “surprised” the FBI hasn’t taken over the case nearly two weeks after Nancy was reported missing.
Savannah’s mom was last seen in Arizona on January 31. Nanos previously told Us that there were some suspicious clues at Nancy’s home that pointed to a crime taking place.
“I’ve been doing this for 50 years. When something doesn’t sit well, it doesn’t sit well,” he said earlier this month. “Something unusual at that house occurred that made us go, ‘Wow … something’s wrong here. Something doesn’t fit.’”

Nanos emphasized that he didn’t want Nancy’s loved ones to “lose hope,” adding, “But in the same sense, just as there’s hope, there’s also things that point to us that say, ‘This lady’s in danger.’”
Savannah and her siblings, Annie and Camron Guthrie, have issued several emotional statements pleading for their mom’s safe return. Shortly before the deadline of an alleged ransom note was reached on Monday, February 9, Savannah confessed that her family was in an “hour of desperation.”
One day later, the FBI released surveillance footage and photos of an individual at Nancy’s home. The subject was seen wearing a mask and carrying a backpack, with what appeared to be a gun kept at their waist.
Investigators later told NBC Tucson affiliate KVOA on Wednesday, February 11, that black gloves were found during the search around Nancy’s home. The gloves were submitted for DNA analysis.
Authorities previously announced that $50,000 was being offered for information about Nancy’s abduction before doubling the amount.
“Today, the FBI is increasing its reward up to $100,000 for information leading to the location of Nancy Guthrie and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance,” read a statement shared by FBI Phoenix via social media on Thursday.
The post revealed that “new identifying details about the suspect” were able to be “confirmed after a forensic analysis of the doorbell camera footage by the FBI’s Operational Technology Division.”
“The suspect is described as a male, approximately 5’9” – 5’10” tall, with an average build. In the video, he is wearing a black, 25-liter ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack’ backpack,” the statement continued. “We hope this updated description will help concentrate the public tips we are receiving. Since February 1, 2026, the FBI has collected over 13,000 tips from the public related to this case.”

Bethenny Frankel Shares Crazy Theory About Missing Nancy Guthrie
In an Instagram video, Frankel reflected on what might’ve happened the night Nancy went missing, questioning whether someone close to Savannah could’ve been involved.
Nancy Guthrie has been missing for 12 days. Reports that she was missing first made headlines on Sunday, February 1, 2026. Since then, shocking ransom notes have emerged; however, Arizona law enforcement officials have continued to question the letters’ authenticity.

Bethenny Frankel Shares Wild Theory About Missing Nancy Guthrie
To begin her video, Frankel mentioned that law enforcement officials have discussed the specifics of the ransom letter, noting that some of them were sent to local Arizona news stations. Continuing, Frankel mentioned how Savannah used to work in Arizona before questioning whether a spiteful ex-coworker could’ve had a hand in 84-year-old Nancy’s disappearance.
“So is it some competitive journalist that Savannah won, got the gig, broke out, and made all the big bucks, and that person has resentment and wants to get their payday that they deserve?” she asked. “I have not heard anything like that, and why does that type of thing sound logical to me?”

Nancy Guthrie Was Taken From Her Home, Says Arizona Police

Arizona law enforcement officers have said that Nancy Guthrie was “taken from the home against her will, possibly in the middle of the night,” according to Page Six.
A spokesperson for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department added that they believe Nancy’s disappearance could be a “possible kidnapping or abduction.” They appeared to get ahead of any theories suggesting the older woman left the area on her own. “This is an elderly woman in her mid-80s who suffers from ailments… she couldn’t go 50 yards,” they added.
Additionally, Chris Nanos of the PCSD described Nancy as “sharp as a tack,” noting that she wasn’t the type to wander off because of her “physical limits.”

Nancy Guthrie Ransom Letter Requested Millions In Bitcoin

Amid the search for Nancy, her potential captors have sent at least three ransom letters to different media outlets, according to an earlier report from The Blast.
JJ McKinnney of the Tucson ABC affiliate KGUN9 reported earlier that the ransom letters his studio received demanded payment of $6 million by Monday, February 9, at 5 PM local time.
Despite the demands, some experts and law enforcement officers aren’t convinced the ransom letters are real, with one former FBI agent noting one detail that stands out to him as odd.
In the ransom note, Nancy’s possible abductors requested the funds be sent in USD, leading Michael Harrigan to wonder whether the authors of the letter are even in the United States.

“If you’re domestic, why would you ever put ‘USD?’ You put 6 million,” Harrigan said. “Why would you use that if you’re a domestic person? That points to somebody who might be potentially outside the country.”
Their insistence on the funds being sent in American currency also leads Harrigan to believe it could all be “a scam.”

A Man Was Detained

According to NBC News, authorities released security photos and videos of a potential suspect in the investigation. The subject was seen wearing a mask, gloves, and a backpack. In the videos, they are shown messing with Nancy’s security footage the day she disappeared.
A man named Carlos Palazuelos was detained earlier this week in connection with the case but was later released. While speaking with the media, Palazuelos confirmed he was a delivery driver but couldn’t recall whether he’d delivered anything to Guthrie’s home.
In a public video, Savannah pleaded for help while also revealing her family was relying on their faith to get them through this storm. “We believe that somehow, some way, she is feeling these prayers and that God is lifting her even in this moment and in this darkest place,” she said.

A White Tent Goes Up…
On Thursday, February 12, 2026, images of a white tent being erected at the front of Nancy Guthrie’s property went viral, prompting a flood of reactions.
It’s unclear exactly why the tent was set up, but NewsNation shared that forensic tents are usually erected to “protect and preserve evidence or to conceal a body, weapon, or other critical evidence.”

‘RHOP’ Star Karen Huger Says ‘I Healed Myself’ In New Interview
Karen Huger is out of jail and heading back to her Bravo roots, as she gears up to make her return to the “Real Housewives of Potomac” for the upcoming three-part reunion that begins on February 15.
However, before fans get to see her join Andy Cohen and her fellow cast mates, Huger stopped by the recently cancelled “Sherri” show to talk about her 6-month DUI sentence.

Karen Huger Says She’s ‘Healed’ Following DUI Jail Sentence
Shepherd opened up the interview by complimenting Huger’s appearance, to which the reality star remarked that her outer appearance is due to now being “healed” from her decades-long battle with alcohol and prescription drug addiction.
“This is not a reflection of what God has done for me since I healed myself,” she told Shepherd.
When pressed about her actions leading to her jail sentence, Huger added, “No one should drink and drive. I was wrong. Okay. I was absolutely dead wrong. I’m so grateful no one was killed.”

Huger States She Was Only Drunk On ‘RHOP’ Once On Camera

Huger then shifted to her “RHOP” cast mates and told Shepherd that the only time she was ever drunk on camera was during a gathering at Monique Samuels’ home, which fans of the show know is far from accurate, as Huger has been seen numerous times throughout the show’s 10 seasons being heavily intoxicated.
“Whether I return remains to be seen,” the reality star said of her future on the long-running Bravo hit, stopping short of confirming her season 11 full-time return, as contracts have yet to go out,
However, she did tell Shepherd why she decided against telling her cast mates about her jail time.
“I told them absolutely nothing,” she said. “Because they need a storyline, and I’m quite often it.”

Karen Huger Previously Did A One-On-One Interview With Andy Cohen

During their February 1 sit-down interview in Huger’s home, Cohen asked her a myriad of questions about her life in jail, her history with addiction, and more.
However, fans were most shocked when she shared the current state of her marriage to husband Ray Huger.
Huger told Cohen that following her jail stint Ray, “has a totally different wife now,” and that currently their marriage is a “work-in-progress.”
“He has a stranger,” she continued. “Ray said that if, after I got the monkey off my back, and we decided not to be together, he could let me go. He wouldn’t want to let me go, but if, for some reason, we find out that we’ve done the best we could on this course, he would let me go.”

Karen Huger And Wendy Osefo Have A ‘Brutal’ Showdown On ‘RHOP’ Reunion

During her recent appearance on “Watch What Happens Live,” cast member Stacey Rusch revealed that despite Huger’s happiness to be home, that didn’t stop her from verbally sparring with Osefo.
When Cohen presented her with a fan question of who Huger was the least excited to see at the reunion, Rusch promptly responded that it was Osefo, an encounter that she described as “brutal.” Cohen also quickly co-signed her recollection of what went down between the two, adding that “it was a lot.”
“RHOP” fans will recall that at the season 9 reunion last year, Huger taped a special video message for her castmates and thanked them as she was awaiting sentencing, but she notably left Osefo’s name out of her message.

The bad blood has clearly lingered between them, and now fans will get to see just how bad things got between them at the reunion that was taped late last month.
The Dynamic On ‘RHOP’ Has Changed Since Huger Was Last A Member Of The Cast

In her absence, things among the ‘RHOP’ ladies have changed, as new cast members have been added and new alliances have been formed. When Huger was last on the show, newbies Angel Massie and Tia Glover, and former full-time cast member Monique Samuels, were not there.
Additionally, the white flag truce between Gizelle Bryant and Osefo was not nearly as evident as it is now. Then there is the dynamic between Rusch and most of the ladies, as she has been consistently accused of lying all season.

Allison Holker Engaged to Adam Edmunds After Nearly 2 Years of Dating
Allison Holker and boyfriend Adam Edmunds are engaged after nearly two years of dating.
“We’re ENGAGED! It was the most romantic night of my life!” the dancer, 38, wrote via Instagram on Thursday, February 12, alongside a slideshow of pictures from the romantic proposal. “I am so in love with you Adam.”
Holker donned a red dress while Edmunds, 45, wore a white button up shirt, black sport coat and pants. The couple posed in front of a red floral backdrop where Edmunds got down on one knee.
“Baby, I am forever grateful for you and the impact you have had in my life and my kids lives,” Holker continued. “I am a better person because of you. You helped me find me again and showed me how to love. Every morning I wake up I feel safe knowing you are my person at my side. You and your kids coming into our lives has been the biggest blessing.”
Holker shared that Edmunds, 45, “surprised” her with a “surprise birthday party” that ended up turning into a “surprise proposal party.”
“The whole night was magic and you had every detail thought out to make it even more special,” she gushed. “Thank you for bringing all the people we love together to celebrate our love.”
Edmunds also surprised Holker by enlisting the help of musician Clinton Kane to serenade their favorite song of his, “I Guess I’m in Love.” Holker expressed her gratitude to everyone who played a part in the special night and to her now-fiancé.
“Adam, I will always support you, hold you and love you!” she added. You are my everything Adam.”
News of the pair’s engagement comes more than three years after the death of Holker’s first husband, Stephen “tWitch” Boss at age 40. The pair shared three children: Weslie Renae, Maddox Laurel and Zaia.
After meeting on So You Think You Can Dance in 2010, Holker and Boss tied the knot in 2013 and remained together until his tragic death in December 2022. (Boss died by suicide.)
Since his passing, Holker has continued to pay tribute to her late husband.
“We honor love by finding peace and gratitude in the memories of the ones that have transformed our souls forever,” she captioned a December 2023 Instagram post paying tribute to Boss. “On our anniversary I find myself in a space of tranquility embracing so many beautiful moments felt and experienced. With my whole heart I celebrate our love.”
Two years after Boss’ death, Holker shared that she was seeing someone new by posting a photo of her holding hands with a mystery man. In September 2024, she revealed that the mystery man was Edmunds and the couple made their red carpet debut at the Alice + Olivia spring 2024 collection show for New York Fashion Week.
That same month, Holker exclusively opened up to Us Weekly about finding a second chance at love.
“I never knew that I could have this again,” she exclusively told Us. “I actually feel like I found such a great love and support system from someone.”
Holker also gushed about how she and Edmunds complement each other perfectly.
“We understand each other and we’re so supportive of each other,” she continued. “He’s just someone that stepped into my life, and it’s been so beautiful and lovely.”
