The Los Angeles Dodgers’ two-way star Shohei Ohtani was all smiles as he posed alongside US President Donald Trump during the team’s second consecutive visit to the White House. The entire team posed for the camera, but Ohtani and Trump took a separate picture, with the Japanese superstar holding up USA apparel.
The camera’s also caught Trump saying, “Good luck, I’ll see you soon” to Ohtani, pointing to the Dodgers’ third consecutive World Series run. Trump also gave Ohtani two Presidential Challenge coins, joking, “He’s so good, I’ll give him two.”

Recalling Game 4 of the National League Championship Series and Shohei Ohtani’s thrilling performance, Donald Trump said,
“In fact, I was watching the game. I said to myself, that’s the greatest game ever played by one person because you did the pitching and the hitting, and he’s not finished yet.”
Trump also compared Ohtani to MLB legend Babe Ruth, highlighting his third straight unanimous league MVP award. Trump said that only Ruth was closer to what Ohtani is doing as a two-way player in hitting and pitching. “The 2025 Dodger season was one for the record books in 150 years of Major League Baseball,” he said.

US President Donald Trump, in a lighthearted moment, questioned Los Angeles Dodgers superstars Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who is the best pitcher between them. Team manager Dave Roberts burst out laughing as both Ohtani and Yamamoto pointed to each other.
“Very smart. You’re both something,” Donald Trump said.
Trump mentioned how Yamamoto pitched an incredible Game 6 and boosted the Dodgers to “an unforgettable Game 7” last year. He praised Yamamoto’s key outing before the final game, where he held the Toronto Blue Jays to a single run across six innings and helped the team stay alive.
Most of the Dodgers were present at their third White House visit, except for Kike Hernandez, Mookie Betts and Edgardo Henriquez. Betts said he won’t be joining the team due to personal and family reasons. He said he wanted to spend more time with his family.
In a now deleted post, Kike Hernandez commented to a fan question about the visit, and noted that, “I’m not (going)”. He did not reveal any further details.
