India’s World Cup 2027 Squad Picked By Sunil Gavaskar Rated 9/10

Published

on

The ODI World Cup 2027 is still 14 months away. The permutations, combinations, and speculations surrounding the Indian squad for the marquee event have already started taking shape. Since the 2011 edition, India are yet to win the ODI World Cup. The last time the ODI World Cup was held, in 2023, India finished as the runners-up. Being the current T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy winners, expectations will be high from the Shubman Gill-led side in 2027.

Former India batter Aakash Chopra recently analysed a potential squad picked by Sunil Gavaskar.

“Shubman Gill (captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul – this is the top five. This is the same top five as the Champions Trophy. So it has been continued. Ishan Kishan has been picked in the 15. Currently, he is someone who is scoring runs and is ready for the format. Then Hardik Pandya and Nitish Kumar Reddy. Almost like-for-like. I like that actually. Maybe you will not be able to play spin-bowling all-rounders. That brings me to Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja. Two left-arm spinners, both very experienced. Again, like-for-like replacements. The all-rounders picked by Sunny sir, all four are like-for-like replacements. Makes sense,” Aakash Chopra said in a video.

Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav. Harshit Rana is one fast bowler who can bat too. He gives an option to the team. Arshdeep Singh too – it’s not bad to have a left-arm fast bowler. It is a solid 8.5 or 9/10 team. I think this is very close to the team that might finally be picked.”

Recently, Ravichandran Ashwin decided to name Bhuvneshwar Kumar in his World Cup squad. However, when it comes to players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ravindra Jadeja, and Mohammed Shami, Ashwin feels the decision could go either way.

Speaking in a video posted on ESPNcricinfo’s YouTube channel, Ashwin said, “Bhuvneshwar Kumar is a yes. I would communicate with him. Get him to play all the tournaments, first-class cricket, Vijay Hazare, everything, and get him primed for South Africa. I think we will need him there.”

He divided the potential picks in three categories – yes, maybe, no.

Yes: Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Harshit Rana, Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day ending explained: Is Peter Parker alive?

Published

on

As someone who has followed Spider-Man’s comic book journey for years, Spider-Man: Brand New Day feels packed with references while still moving Peter Parker’s story forward. The film ends with Peter alive after surviving a devastating gunshot wound during the final battle, but his greatest challenge is never the injury itself.

Instead, the ending focuses on the emotional weight of the memory spell introduced in Spider-Man: No Way Home and what it has cost him. Watching these final scenes unfold, it becomes clear that the movie is less about defeating another villain and more about Peter finding hope again. At the same time, the truth behind Jean Grey’s attack on the Department of Damage Control and the organization’s hidden agenda finally comes to light, giving several long-running storylines a satisfying payoff.

An invisible threat endangers the DODC during Spider-Man: Brand New Day. In the beginning, Peter Parker thinks the assaults are just random violent incidents. As part of his regular duties as the “friendly neighborhood” protector of New York City, Peter investigates a string of crimes and disturbances in his role as Spider-Man.

Nine months after the events in Spider-Man: No Way Home, the plot picks up. Scenes cut to Ned Leeds and MJ starting their first year at MIT, completely oblivious to Peter due to Doctor Strange’s memory spell. The story then fast-forwards four years. As he deals with mutations in his arachnid DNA, Peter maintains his anonymity. New biological webs sprout from his wrists, and he finds it more difficult to control his talents. This is reminiscent of Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man.

Spider-Man learns that Jean Grey is the enigmatic assailant as the investigation develops. She is able to get into high-security areas undetected because she can use her telepathic powers to transfer her consciousness from one person to another. Even though the Department of Damage Control claims to be completely unaware of V-Max, her goal is to find it.

Over time, the truth is revealed. Bill Metzger, the head of the department, sees Jean and knows why she has chosen the agency as her target. No desire for dominion or devastation drives these assaults. Rather, Jean is engrossed in unraveling mysteries surrounding her sister, Sara.

Secret tests on Sara were carried out by the Department of Damage Control. Her death was the result of their experiments. Rather than focusing on gathering facts, Jean is now determined to face those responsible after discovering the truth.

Did Spider-Man stop Jean Grey?

The conflicts escalate rapidly as Jean’s abilities keep getting stronger. In her pursuit of Metzger, she assumes the bodies of several people, including Bruce Banner as the Hulk and Frank Castle aka the Punisher.

To stop Jean before she hurts any more innocent people, Spider-Man teams up with Yelena Belova. In order to stabilize his own altered condition, Peter likewise uses the same DNA inhibitor device. The gadget briefly disables Jean’s telepathic powers, which allows Damage Control to kidnap her.

But Metzger wastes no time seizing the chance; he locks Jean up and puts her through the same kind of experimentation that she did to Sara. With this new information, Jean pushes herself to her limits. During her confrontation with Metzger and struggle with Spider-Man and the Hand, her telekinetic talents surge, freezing significant areas of New York City.

Peter decides against using force to defeat Jean and instead opts for a different strategy. By appealing to her emotions, he persuades her to halt the devastation. The immediate danger to the city will disappear as soon as Jean regains control.

When the Punisher shoots Spider-Man in the middle of all the mayhem, the resolution is halted. Urged to a hospital, Peter sustains serious injuries. According to Frank Castle, Jean employs her psychic powers to sustain Peter’s consciousness until his physical body recovers, enabling him to breathe on his own.

Did MJ and Ned remember who Peter is?

By the end of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, MJ learns the truth about Peter Parker, while Ned begins to recognize him through a familiar shared memory.

Peter spends most of the film honoring the promise he made in Spider-Man: No Way Home by keeping his distance from MJ and Ned. Believing they are safer without him, he never tells them that he is Spider-Man or that Doctor Strange’s spell erased their memories.

That changes when Jean briefly possesses MJ. During the incident, MJ finds the letter Peter wrote years earlier but never delivered. In it, he explains that a magical spell erased everyone’s memories of Peter Parker. Although MJ now understands why Peter disappeared from her life, she makes it clear that knowing the truth does not restore the memories they lost.

Later, Spider-Man visits MJ and Ned while wearing his mask, allowing the three friends to spend time together again. During their conversation, MJ accidentally calls Spider-Man “Peter” in front of Ned, revealing his identity.

In the final scene of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Peter approaches Ned without his mask and introduces himself simply as Peter. Ned initially does not recognize him. However, the two instinctively perform the elaborate handshake they shared in high school. The familiar gesture appears to trigger Ned’s recognition through muscle memory, suggesting that some emotional connections have survived despite Doctor Strange‘s spell.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day does not confirm that MJ and Ned fully regain their memories. Instead, it shows that while the spell remains in effect, their bond with Peter may still endure in ways that magic cannot completely erase.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now playing in theaters.
