If you’re a fan of rock music, there is no other genre that can match it. Rock and roll has a rawness and energy to it that can’t be found anywhere else. It’s an art form born in the 1950s, and despite its popularity taking a hit in the age of the internet, rock and roll will never die. Rock music is released through albums, a collection of art released by bands and artists. For so long, to promote it, labels would release singles as promotion. On radio and MTV, certain songs would catch fire, becoming timeless over the decades. These 25 rock songs best represent the different eras of the genre. To spice things up a bit, no band or artist can appear more than once.

Tool first debuted in the early 1990s. A decade later, they represented the best of the early 2000s on their third album Lateralus. Their third single, “Lateralus,” was butchered in its radio release, which cut out over three minutes of the 9:24 runtime. Lead singer Maynard James Keenan uses the Fibonacci sequence to build the song around. A true work of genius, it builds and builds until a frantic finish.

“In the End” by Linkin Park (2000)

Nu-metal had its day during the late 90s and early 2000s. As other bands came and went, Linkin Park remained because they were so much more than a fad. From the beginning, they were taking over the rock world on their debut album Hybrid Theory. Its last single, “In the End,” came out on one of America’s worst days, September 11, 2001. With hip hop and piano playing over Chester Bennington’s vocals and Mike Shinoda’s underrated rap vocals taking the lead, a song of utter hopelessness became even more heartbreaking for the era it came out in.

“Jump” by Van Halen (1984)

Van Halen was a mostly upbeat band with riffs and lyrics that were all about fun. They were sometimes criticized for not being deep enough, and captured their share of gripe for the pop and synth sounds found on their album 1984. For fans, however, it’s the perfect personification of the band. 1984 is best highlighted by “Jump.” Eddie Van Halen’s synth riff lead into David Lee Roth’s double meaning lyrics, turning from a statement about ending your life to one about the hope of jumping in and living it.

“Black Hole Sun” by Soundgarden (1994)

Soundgarden‘s most successful album, Superunknown, came out at the end of grunge, just a month after Kurt Cobain‘s death. One huge song, however, kept grunge hanging on. “Black Hole Sun” is the band’s most popular single. It’s a blend of genres, with grunge meeting old school hard rock and a bit of the Beatles. Chris Cornell‘s lyrics are a bit nonsensical, but his vocals are as hypnotic as ever. By restraining themselves, Soundgarden found perfection.

“Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes (2003)

The White Stripes had been around for years, with plenty of critical acclaim, before 2003’s album Elephant. The first single was “Seven Nation Army”, a blast of heavy rock straight to the eardrums. With Jack White’s now legendary riff and Meg White’s energetic pounding of the drums, “Seven Nation Army” has only gotten bigger over the years. Today, it has become a sporting event anthem to rival Queen‘s “We Will Rock You.”

“Light My Fire” by The Doors (1967)

The Doors didn’t last long, but they were very prolific during their short years together before the death of Jim Morrison in 1971. Their first album, 1967’s self-titled The Doors, epitomizes who they were. You probably best know the three-minute radio version of “Light My Fire,” but on the album, it clocks in at seven minutes, with added experimental sections. The song opens with Ray Manzarek‘s organ solo. His mastery dominates the entire song, a richness of energy layered with Morriron’s soothing, deep vocals of desire.

“Man in the Box” by Alice in Chains (1990)

In 1990, Nirvana hadn’t broken out yet and grunge wasn’t even a term. Before it all stood Alice in Chains on their debut album, Facelift. As big as the band would get over the next few years, they were never better than on the album’s second single, “Man in the Box.” The song opens up with Jerry Cantrell’s ferocious guitar riff, before giving way to Layne Staley’s impossible voice. Although written about censorship and control, Cantrell’s struggle with drug addiction gives the powerful lyrics a more personal twist.

“Jeremy” by Pearl Jam (1991)

Pearl Jam‘s 1991 debut album, Ten, put them at the top of the grunge movement, right there with Nirvana. The track listing is filled with now classic rock such as “Alive” and “Even Flow.” One, however, stands out from the rest. “Jeremy” is infectious without even paying attention to the lyrics. It transforms though when you examine Eddie Vedder’s haunting vocals about a teenage boy pushed over the edge into a heartbreaking final act. More tragic, Vedder wrote the song based on the real life Jeremy Wade Delle, who took his life in front of his classmates.

“Sweet Child o’ Mine” by Guns N’ Roses (1987)

In 1987, Guns N’ Roses‘ debut album, Appetite for Destruction, took over the rock world. Although every track is hard rock mastery, “Sweet Child O’ Mine” is the one that sticks out the most. Slash‘s opening guitar riff is like an alarm bell calling you to attention. The entire band is in perfect harmony, anchored by Axl Rose’s unmistakable voice as he sings about love without remorse.

Metallica was the most successful heavy metal band of the 1980s. For a new decade, however, they took a huge risk by adopting a more commercial sound. What could have made them sellouts only made the group even better. 1991’s self-titled album begins with their most famous song, “Enter Sandman.” It starts off with a riff from Kirk Hammett that will rev up your soul. As Lars Ulrich‘s drums and Jason Newsted‘s bass kicks in, James Hetfield’s dark lullaby wakes up the masses who had fallen asleep in the era of late-80s hair metal dullness.

The Bold and the Beautiful announces some really exciting casting news. If you have not heard, we’re about to meet Melissa Dylan‘s (Sydney Bullock) mom, Darcy Dylan (Kelly Sullivan). And Bold got a great actress to play the role, soap veteran Kelly Sullivan. And it definitely sounds like Dylan needs her mom since Katie Logan (Heather Tom) is going after Dylan so hard.

Now, we don’t know much about Dylan’s backstory before LA, so this should be pretty interesting. We are going to talk about where you might have seen Kelly Sullivan on another CBS soap and what brings Dylan’s mom to town.

Bold and the Beautiful: Kelly Sullivan’s Soap History

So, we just found out the news that B&B hired the incredible Kelly Sullivan as Dylan’s mom, Darcy. If you also watched General Hospital, you might recall Kelly Sullivan was on there from 2011 to 2014. She played Connie Falconeri and dated notorious mobster Sonny Corinthos.

Connie had mental health issues. She had dissociative identity disorder. She also went by the name Kate Howard. And she wound up getting killed off by Ava Jerome (Maura West) before she could expose a mob plot. And then after General Hospital killed off her character Connie, then she swapped soaps.

So, Kelly Sullivan was next over on The Bold and the Beautiful’s sister soap Young and the Restless from 2014 to 2016. And on there she played Sage Warner who had a really brief fling with Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and got pregnant and that was back when the character was played by actor Justin Hartley. So, Sage got pregnant by Adam but was more deeply involved in a romance with his brother Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow).

Darcy’s Fate on B&B

And of course you know Nick actor Josh Morrow is the dad of Will Spencer actor Crew Morrow. So, it’s interesting that Kelly Sullivan’s going to be playing opposite the son when in the past she played opposite the father. So, that’s going to be really cool when she steps into her role as Darcy Dylan on Bold.

But unfortunately, Young and the Restless also killed off Kelly Sullivan’s character. She died in a car crash. But her son Christian Newman is supposedly still on Y&R, although we’ve not seen the kid since he was a toddler, and he only gets those off-screen mentions. So, let’s hope B&B isn’t bringing Kelly Sullivan in to kill her off like the other two soaps did. She earned daytime Emmy nominations for outstanding supporting actress for both General Hospital and Young and the Restless in 2014 and 2017, respectively.

So, if you haven’t seen her before, I think you guys will really like her. And Kelly began taping her scenes as Darcy Dylan this past Tuesday, August 4th. We’re going to see Kelly Sullivan’s B&B debut as Darcy on Thursday, August 27th. And this is good timing because Dylan could really use her mom right now because Katie Logan is coming down really hard on Dylan for wanting to be with Will.

And again, this is kind of out of character stuff with Katie being so vicious to this girl Dylan that she really knows nothing about, when Katie seems fine with Electra Forester (Laneya Grace), who has been so horrible to Will and has dumped him over and over, has judged him and Electra has never shown him any loyalty.

But Katie is convinced that Dylan is just social climbing by taking an interest in Will. And Electra has already decided Dylan’s a gold digger. But I thought she was very respectful to Katie and very honest. But honestly, at this point, Katie’s acting like a Forrester the way she’s talking to Dylan.

So, I’m very excited to see her mom, Darcy, show up in LA to defend her daughter. And we’re going to talk about what we might see once Dylan’s mama shows up on the bold scene later this month. First of all, I bet that Darcy’s daughter will tell her that Katie has been accusing her of lying and having an agenda and gold digging just because she was a fan of their magazine when she was growing up.

And of course, Katie said that Dylan’s trying to latch onto Will’s wealthy family. But as far as I can see, Dylan is a good girl who was probably raised right, and Katie’s not really being fair. So, Darcy may lay into Katie. From the second she saw Dylan at Will’s place and realized who she was, Katie has been convinced that Dylan is only interested in Will because she’s social climbing.

Also, Katie’s been really nasty calling her by her name over and over like it’s some kind of curse word. Lots of people go by different names. The good news is Will, Bill Spencer (Don Diamont), and Wyatt Spencer (Darin Brooks) all seem pro-Dylan. So, maybe they’ll push back on Katie. And then I expect Dylan’s mom, Darcy, to really push back on Katie and especially if she sees her coming in hot at Dylan in front of her.

Another thing that I’m interested to see is Darcy’s reaction to finding out that Dylan was homeless and that her daughter was living in her car and then living over Will’s garage before she landed the job at Forrester and the job at Bikini.

And with two jobs, she’s paying her own bills. I’m sure that Darcy doesn’t know that Dylan was homeless or she’d have told her kid to come home or Darcy might have sent money to her. But we know Dylan’s a hard worker who wants to pay her own way.

Also, Darcy, you know, may not know that Dylan was tied up and held hostage by Luna Nozawa (Lisa Yamada) at gunpoint. So, I also wonder if Darcy knows that her daughter Dylan ran over and killed Luna. There may be some serious catching up that Dylan needs to do with her mom, Darcy.

And also, I expect Dylan might tell Darcy the awful thing Remy Pryce (Christian Weissmann) did to Electra with the deep fake nudes. Because Remy is Darcy’s nephew, she might ask Dylan about him and be totally shocked to hear what happened.

And I’m sure that Dylan’s also going to have to explain to her mom about her complicated dynamic with her ex-best friend, Electra. She told Dylan, of course, that she couldn’t date Will. But Dylan decided to pursue him anyway. And Will’s not going to listen to his mom, Katie. He already said he plans to keep seeing Dylan.

The Bold and the Beautiful: Darcy Meets the Spencers

And in fact, between now and when her mom Darcy shows up, Dylan and Will are going to get intimate. So by the time Darcy comes to LA, she will likely be meeting Will as Dylan’s love interest. And his mom, Katie, of course, as the overbearing person who’s talking nasty about her daughter.

I am looking forward to a showdown if Katie actually has the nerve to talk smack about Dylan right in front of her mom, Darcy. So, this week when Katie was blathering about how Electra is lovely and poised and basically better than Dylan, I was rolling my eyes. Electra is a brat who broke Will’s heart.

Also, speaking of Electra, I think Darcy might have some things to say to Electra for the way that she has treated Dylan because for a while now she has been bullying her, making unreasonable and unfair ultimatums. And aside from the verbal conflicts that Electra’s done to Dylan, we all saw Electra slap her. That was really wrong. I’d like to see Dylan report it to HR at Forrester Creations.

Except I’m guessing they don’t have HR because there’s all kinds of nonsense that goes on there. It’s that toxic culture thing that’s now becoming public knowledge. I’m sure that Darcy is not going to be a fan of Electra at all. And I would also expect that Darcy will meet Bill Spencer and the rest of the family once she gets to LA and finds out, you know, that Dylan is seeing Will.

I do expect that Bill and Wyatt should be welcoming and Will should be too. But Katie might continue to be judgmental about Dylan without even getting to know the girl at all. I could see Katie telling Darcy, “You need to take Dylan and leave. Go back where you came from.” It could be really contentious. But what I can say is I’m super excited Dylan’s mom is coming to B&B and I’m thrilled that they cast Kelly Sullivan and I think y’all are going to love her.

Stating that he suffered the incident in January that year, Banderas considered himself lucky to be alive as he underwent an operation where they implanted three stents into his coronary arteries.

Aside from that, the Spanish actor also had an arrhythmia, a condition where the heart experiences an irregular beat, which also meant he had to go in for a thermoablation. As defined by Mayo Clinic, a heart arrhythmia happens when the electrical signals that tell the heart to beat do not work as they should. 

This means that the heart may beat too fast or too slow, and the pattern of the heartbeat may also be inconsistent. Banderas continued that while he truly battled the attack, the media may have overblown his experience; however, it did happen due to him overworking himself for decades in the entertainment industry.

The attack did not cause any lasting damage, but it did cause the actor to move out of the United States, leave behind smoking, and dispose of his private jet.

In an interview with ComicBook in 2022, as shared by The Blast, Banderas disclosed that he would be happy to see a third Zorro movie if there is a new young face to carry on the legacy, as Anthony Hopkins did for him in “The Mask of Zorro” in 1998.

Wizards of Waverly Place star Jake T. Austin broke his silence after his character was missing from the show’s revival, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place.

“To all the Wizard fans, just wanted to say for the record how disappointed I am to have not been included in the spinoff,” Austin, 31, wrote via Instagram Story on Thursday, August 6.

Austin, who played Max on the original series, recalled being “asked back in 2020” if he was interested in reprising his role. “I said that I was 100 percent in,” he added. “Unfortunately, the powers that be decided to take the show in a different direction and my character wasn’t part of the equation.”

Wizards of Waverly Place, which aired from 2007 to 2012, followed three siblings — Justin (David Henrie), Alex (Selena Gomez) and Max — who inherited magical abilities from their family. Wizards Beyond Waverly Place later debuted on Disney+, concluding its three-season run earlier this month and leaving fans divided.

Austin was not the only OG cast member to speak out after not being included in the new series. David DeLuise, who played patriarch Jerry, commented on an Instagram post on Wednesday, August 5, writing, “It would not be over if the OG wizards were really there. Missed opportunity.”

The four-part series finale saw the return of Gomez, 34, Jennifer Stone, Gregg Sulkin and Maria Canals-Barrera. Henrie, 37, was also involved after starring in — and producing — the follow-up show.

Creator Todd J. Greenwald also weighed in when he addressed the backlash to the finale.

“I will undo the entire ‘Beyond’ canon in one simple chapter,” he wrote via Substack. “By simply ignoring it. ‘It was all Max’s dreammmmm.’ Fixed. Moving on.”

Greenwald elaborated on the strong reaction to the show’s conclusion.

“I would also like to make it clear. The actors on the new show are amazing. They’re amazing kids. They have amazing families and they’ve got great futures ahead,” he continued. “It is a blessing that they had this experience and can still be kids and have a great memory to look back on. I would work with any of them any day.”

He concluded: “This is the sixth tween show I’ve written on and I’ve seen how it affects the kids in different ways. Learning as you go and finding your voice in front of so many people is challenging enough in itself, let alone having to portray a character you know nothing about.”

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is streaming now on Disney+.

Well, apparently not, because a sequel is on the way and this time, it’s focusing on one of the most overlooked characters.

Random House will release Connie in the fall of 2027, with the authorized Godfather novel written by bestselling author Adriana Trigiani. Approved by the estate of the original author Mario Puzo, the book will focus on Connie Corelone, daughter of Don Vito Corleone, and it’ll be the first Godfather story told from a woman’s perspective. Connie evolves from a desperate young woman who wants to escape her family’s criminal empire, into a shark that becomes one of their most politically astute and influential figures.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest films ever made, The Godfather transformed the mob genre when it premiered in 1972. Directed by Coppola and based on Mario Puzo’s bestselling novel, the film won three Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best Adapted Screenplay.

The original film was also a massive commercial success, grossing more than $250 million worldwide from a budget of around $6 million, making it one of the highest-grossing films ever released at the time. The Godfather Part II went on to become one of the few sequels to win Best Picture. Collider’s review described The Godfather as “a cinematic landmark” whose influence continues to shape filmmaking more than five decades later. Just, don’t forget the cannolis.

Rylee Arnold dances gracefully even in heels, balancing her way through the “Dancing With The Stars” ballroom, but how about her personal life?

The pro ballroom dancer has opened up about how she navigates her growing career, everyday life, and her health challenges. She disclosed her initial fear that her dance world had to stand still after receiving her type 1 diabetes diagnosis as a teenager.

Rylee Arnold started on “Dancing with the Stars: Juniors” at age 13 in 2018 and made it to the finals. She joined the franchise’s main competition series at 18, marking one of the youngest-ever ballroom pro-dancers on the show.

Arnold reflected on her journey as a professional dancer, marked by a major health challenge that arose in her early teens. The “DWTS” pro revealed that after being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 15, she feared she would have to quit dancing.

The 21-year-old pro shared that she initially feared that she would have to give up a part of her life she really enjoyed and commit herself fully to managing her health. Arnold also acknowledged that it was “honestly really hard in the beginning” to balance her health and the physical demands of dancing, especially since she was a teenager at the time. 

She shared that adjusting to a life with diabetes was no easy feat, recalling times when she felt “embarrassed to give [herself] a shot in front of friends at school or at dance.” But she had to dust off the shame she felt with the realization that prioritizing her health meant a long and beautiful life.

Being on “Dancing with the Stars” helped Arnold find structure and balance in her life as a dancer and in her health. “Just balancing that and learning how to balance my life was really, really important. But ever since I got on [DWTS], I feel like I’ve really focused on balancing that and having that healthy balance,” the dancer told US Weekly.

The Ballroom Dancer Learned To Understand Her Body

Arnold shared that she is at a point where she understands how to manage her illness. She noted that understanding does not come at once; in her case, it took about six years to adjust and understand how she reacts to things.

The dancer, being one of many millions of people living with type 1 diabetes in the world, does not go through her health hurdles alone. She disclosed that she has learned a lot from the shared journeys of others on social media like TikTok and Instagram.

Arnold noted that although everyone’s body system differs, many people have similar shared experiences, and getting to see and hear from them has helped her tremendously.

Last year, Arnold stepped away from the “Dancing with the Stars” tour to prioritize her health. “Making the decision to step away from the tour this last year was really hard, and because it was because of my health, it made me really sad,” she recalled, adding that as hard as the decision was, it was something she needed to do.

Rylee Arnold On How ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Is Capturing The Younger Demographic

In recent seasons, the popular dance show has seen growing interest among younger generations. Much of this change was attributed to the show casting social media stars like Charli D’Amelio and to Gen-Z dancers like Arnold being pros.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Arnold shared how an active TikTok presence by stars and pros helped bring younger people to the show. She added that when she started posting behind-the-scenes and day-in-the-life TikToks, they were just for fun and a platform to talk about her experience on the show.

The ballroom dancer also praises D’Amelio for helping the show gain visibility among the younger generation in season 31. Being a social media star, she “brought all of her fans and the people that love her to come and watch the show, and then they stuck around because it was super fun and exciting to watch.”

The dynamic shifted from what her sister, Lindsay, who was also a pro on the show, had told her. “I remember when my sister was on [the pro cast], she always told me, ‘It’s always the old ladies watching Dancing with the Stars,’” Arnold recalled.

Last season, “DWTS” also introduced TikTok Night, where dancers performed to viral TikTok songs in various styles.

The Young Pro-Dancer Got The ‘Best Piece Of Advice’ From Her Sister

Lindsay joined the dance franchise as a young dancer in 2013 at the age of 19. She began as a pro in season 16, moved to the dance troupe, and returned to pro until season 30, when she said goodbye to the show to focus on raising her family.

With her younger sister walking in her footsteps, the mother of three offered advice that got her through everything. Arnold shared that the best advice she’s ever been given is “to always just remain true to yourself.”

“Always just be yourself, authentically you, because if people don’t like you for you, then you’re not where you need to be,” Arnold told PEOPLE last year at the “DWTS” Season 34 Post Cast Reveal red carpet.

Lindsay, who is a 10-time competitor and one-time “Dancing with the Stars” winner, reportedly encouraged her sister to be the happiest version of herself, and those wise words “got her through everything.”

Rylee Arnold Found Love Off The Dance Floor

The professional dancer revealed how she met her current boyfriend, college football tight end Walker Lyons. She revealed that they connected through her Uber driver, who happened to be his aunt.

According to Arnold, she opted for an Uber that fateful day at her mom’s suggestion due to heavy LA traffic. Getting into the ride, she chatted with the driver, who then told her about her “nephew playing USC football,” suggesting they might get along.

The Blast reported that the dancer did not think too much about it after checking Lyons out on Instagram and admitting he was cute. She was focused on her dance life and reluctant to pursue a romantic relationship at the time, but fate had other plans.

She eventually followed him, and they started talking. After a while, the footballer asked Arnold out on a date, and the rest is history.
