Enzo Maresca said that Omar Marmoush has to decide if he is happy enough to stay at Manchester City as he raised the possibility of another exit in the transfer window. Marmoush only joined the club in January 2025 but found it difficult to get in the team last season with Erling Haaland the undisputed No.1 and other attackers impressing instead.
“The answer has to be similar to the one I answer about James Trafford,” he said. “Players work every day, they want to play so when they don’t play they are not happy. Omar did not play a lot last year so his desire is probably to play more minutes. It doesn’t mean that he isn’t going to play more minutes here but it’s also his decision, and he needs to decide.”
City have vowed to replace any player who does move on in the transfer window, but there are only just over three weeks left before the deadline. If anybody is to move for Marmoush, with Tottenham reported to be one of the clubs interested in him, a deal will have to be put together quickly.
A number of other players that have featured prominently on the City tour face uncertain futures this month. Tijjani Reijnders, Rico Lewis and Savinho are among those flying back into Manchester on Monday morning not certain over where they will be playing this season.

Wrestling legend Triple H congratulated a new champion following their surprising victory at WWE SummerSlam 2026.
Baron Corbin returned to the company last month and made it his mission to capture the United States Championship. The Lone Wolf defeated Trick Williams at SummerSlam to capture the title and beat him once again this past Friday night on SmackDown to remain the champion.

Michael Brennan birdied five consecutive holes on the front nine Sunday afternoon and went on to win the Wyndham Championship by three strokes in the PGA Tour regular-season finale in Greensboro, N.C.
Brennan’s second career victory catapulted him into the FedEx Cup playoffs, which begin this coming week in Memphis.
He shot a 6-under-par 64 and finished at 22-under 258 across four days at Sedgefield Country Club, topping final-round playing partner Beau Hossler (67 on Sunday). It’s the second year in a row that a former collegiate golfer from nearby Wake Forest won the tournament, following Cameron Young.
Brennan’s other victory came in last October’s Bank of Utah Championship in his first PGA Tour start as a professional.
His birdie spree came on Nos. 4-8. He took a bogey on the par-4 11th hole, but got that back two holes later by rolling in an 8-foot birdie putt.

After a critical par save at No. 17, Brennan capped Sunday’s round with a 13-foot birdie putt on the last hole.
Hossler, who was the first- and second-round leader and third-round co-leader, applied pressure with birdies on Nos. 16 and 17 to pull within two strokes of the lead. That followed his 10-hole stretch at 2 over after he eagled the fifth hole.
Ben James fired a 61 for the best round of the day, even one stroke better than his opening round. Saturday’s 72 proved costly, so he placed third at 18 under.

While the top of the leaderboard drew attention, there were ramifications throughout the tournament as golfers jockeyed for position in need of a top-70 spot in the season-long standings in order to advance to the FedEx Cup playoffs. Hossler just missed out, rising 50 places to No. 72 on the list.
The final golfer to make it into the FedEx Cup playoffs was rookie Jackson Koivun, who won the 3M Open two weeks ago. He shot 71 on Sunday for his worst round of the week, but ended up tied for 29th in the tournament at 8 under.
The first golfer out — at No. 71 in the FedEx Cup standings — was Steven Fisk, who missed the cut in Greensboro.
Taiwan’s Kevin Yu (66) finished fourth at 16 under, followed by England’s Harry Hall (66) and South Korea’s Tom Kim (70) at 15 under.

Five golfers tied for seventh place at 14 under. That group included England’s Matt Wallace, who shot 65 Sunday but ended up at No. 73 in the standings.
Young notched a final-round 67, but he tied for 61st at 4 under.

On Sunday, during the final round of the PIF London Championship at Centurion Club, Hull found herself on the other side of that coin.
The hometown favorite started the final round three shots behind 17-year-old Anna Huang but made five birdies in an 11-hole stretch to take a one-shot lead heading to the par-3 17th hole. That’s when things went sideways for Hull.
Both players found the green with their tee shots, and Huang made an easy par. Hull’s tee shot landed 30 feet from the hole, giving her an outside look at birdie but what appeared to be a good chance at making par to keep her lead going to the final hole. Hull’s birdie attempt raced five feet past the hole and then rolled her comebacker four feet past the hole in the other direction. Hull eventually tapped in for a double-bogey to fall one behind Huang heading to the par-5 18th.

Hull found the green in two and two-putted for a closing birdie, but Huang drained a length eagle putt to finish off her two-shot win over Hull in style.
Hull’s week started with a 74, but she then fired a course-record 11-under 62 on Friday to jump back into contention. That bogey-free 62 broke the previous course record set by Georgia Hall. After entering the history books at Centurion on Friday, Hull admitted she was run down after a grueling LPGA stretch that included two majors and the women’s Scottish Open in a four-week stretch.
“It was really good; I shot 11-under, and I actually left a couple of shots out there coming in,” Hull said on Friday. “I know that sounds pretty crazy, but it was a fun day. I have been so tired this week, exhausted from the last couple of weeks, especially after the AIG Women’s Open last week.
“I feel pretty tired and my body is in bits. I have got a few ongoing injuries, so I’ve been having a lot of physio. I’m quite shocked that I’ve shot 11-under today because I felt so tired this morning. It felt like the easiest 11-under of my life. I’m standing here right now feeling like I left a couple of shots out there and I want to go and see if I can improve it tomorrow.”

Despite being mentally and physically drained, the World No. 6 willed her way into contention in London, hoping to secure her first win in England.
A Sunday birdie barrage allowed Hull to pull ahead of Huang, but the late four-putt allowed the Canadian teenager to win her fourth Ladies European Tour title in the last 11 months.
“That was probably the most thrilling round of golf of my life. That was crazy. I have no words. I’m just so shocked,” Huang said after her win. “I knew coming down three tough holes was not easy, and I tried to focus on each shot because anything can happen in golf, and I stayed in my own lane.
“I can’t believe I made another eagle [on 18]. I focused on the putt and made a good stroke, and it went in. Charley is such a phenomenal player and playing with her in the past two days in the final group has been really cool.”

With the win, the first with her mother in attendance, Huang broke Lydia Ko’s record for the youngest player to win four LET titles, doing so at 17 years, nine months and 10 days. Ko, the LPGA Hall of Famer, won her fourth at 18 years, four months and 20 days.
“A year ago, I was at a really low point in my life and golf wasn’t really fun for me. I was dealing with all these thoughts, but with the help of my family and all my support, I was able to get myself back together and push through that part,” Huang said.
“I’ve always looked up to Lydia [Ko]. She’s always been my idol growing up. There’s so much to admire about her game.”
As Huang celebrated a historic win, Hull left Centurion Club to rue another tough loss in a year that has included a fair share of what-ifs and could’ve-beens.

Manchester United have given Marcus Rashford a new shirt number of 14, as the Wythenshawe-born talent looks increasingly likely to remain at Old Trafford for the coming season. The 28-year-old saw his future with the club cast into speculation under Ruben Amorim’s regime, with the Portuguese tactician falling out with the forward during his stint in Greater Manchester.
As a result, Rashford spent the second-half of 2024/25 on loan with Aston Villa, before joining Barcelona in a season-long deal last term. While the La Liga giants had a £26million option to make Rashford’s spell permanent this summer, the likelihood of the forward returning to the Camp Nou are growing slimmer by the day.
Not only have the club splashed £69m on Newcastle United talent Anthony Gordon, who plays in the same position as Rashford, but they are also now approaching a move for Manchester City midfielder Rodri, which could set them back around £60m if the Sky Blues’ valuation is met.
With limited transfer funds, it means that Rashford is likely to remain with United for the coming season, unless another European powerhouse comes in for his services.
United are not opposed to the idea of retaining the Englishman, and allowing him to revitalise his relationship with the Old Trafford elite under Michael Carrick’s stewardship.
And Fabrizio Romano claims that the club have now handed him a squad number of 14 as a message of their trust. It’s the same number that Rashford was handed by Hansi Flick upon his arrival in Catalunya, which he saw a wealth of success wearing.
In La Liga alone, Rashford managed eight goals and seven assists last season, proving his worth in gold on the left-flank. And Carrick will hope to see more of the same from the talent – who has been a part of Manchester United folklore since 2005 – when the new Premier League season gets underway.

As for the reasoning behind the number change, Rashford has typically wore 10 for United since 2018. However, Mateus Cunha now occupies that prestigious number, having arrived from Wolves last summer.

It is understood that Rashford is currently travelling with the first-team as they navigate the rest of their pre-season tour across Europe. The forward could feature in the Reds’ upcoming clash with Leeds United in Ireland come Wednesday, August 12.

Dutch rider Demi Vollering won the Tour de France Femmes on Sunday by winning the hilly final stage to extend her lead on nearest rival Kasia Niewiadoma, who finished second overall.
The 29-year-old Vollering also won the 2023 title and claimed her second one by timing the nine-day slog to perfection in winning the final two stages, which both ended in Nice.
Vollering claimed the overall lead on Saturday, attacking late on a small hill and edging into an eight-second overall lead on Niewiadoma.
A furious Niewiadoma, however, complained she had been blocked by a teammate of Vollering at a crucial moment, but no action was taken.

The tense final stage was contested over four climbs of the Col d’Eze just outside Nice, where Vollering waited until the fourth ascent to pounce.
Attacking near the summit, she took a 20sec lead and thundered down towards Nice never looking back.

He’s an undrafted talent who has spent time working with the Chiefs, Browns, and Jaguars. The former corner is operating as a safety in Minnesota. Seeing something wonky happen — trading Theo Jackson, an injury, an out of nowhere cut — could open some room for the 25-year-old defender.

Not too long ago, OC Wes Phillips indicated that Henry Byrd was capable of playing all five positions along the offensive line. Such is the result of being on the practice squad for several years.
Mr. Byrd is a Princeton alum — likely smart — who has a background with tap dancing — likely has good feet. At 6’5″ and 315 pounds, Byrd’s build is basically on par with Christian Darrisaw. Can he secure a depth job as a reliable five-in-one backup?
Minnesota has been stashing him on the practice squad for several years. Maybe that pays off with a spot on the active roster.
Player No. 3 — Chaz Chambliss, Linebacker

Last year, Chambliss got added as an undrafted talent. He played well for Georgia in college but is small for being an edge rusher. Slipping out of the draft allowed the Vikings to pounce.
The defender hung around on the roster last season as a depth piece on defense and a mainstay for the special teams. His path forward is similar rolling into 2026. What would be especially fascinating is if he proves capable of playing off-ball linebacker. Standing at 6’1″ and 245 pounds means looking like Blake Cashman instead of looking like Jonathan Greenard.
