'Premeditated and gruesome assault': Delhi high court denies bail to Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar in murder case

The Delhi high court has refused to grant bail to Olympic wrestler Sushil Kumar in the alleged murder of former junior national wrestling champion Sagar Dhankar.Justice Purushaindra Kumar dismissed Kumar’s bail plea on August 6, citing concerns about his ability to influence witnesses, his conduct before his arrest, the seriousness of the alleged offence and his ability to affect the outcome of the ongoing trial. The judge noted that while bail is generally the rule and jail the exception, the case involved a “premeditated and gruesome assault resulting in death”. The court said this was supported by the recovery of a firearm, video evidence and other material that is yet to be examined during the trial.Kumar’s counsel sought bail on the ground that circumstances had changed since his earlier bail was cancelled. The lawyer pointed out that Ashok Dhankad, Sagar’s father whose complaint had led to the earlier cancellation of bail, had not supported the prosecution’s case during the trial. The defence also argued that Kumar had already spent more than five years in custody and that only formal and official witnesses remained to be examined.Delhi Police and Dhankar’s father opposed the bail plea. The high court, however, said the defence’s claim that Sagar’s father had not supported the prosecution was disputed. It also referred to the Supreme Court’s earlier decision cancelling Kumar’s bail, in which it had noted his social standing and influence and the fact that witnesses had turned hostile whenever he was given temporary liberty.“Whether the deposition of Ashok Dhankad (deceased’s father) does or does not support the prosecution is, moreover, a matter of appreciation of evidence that must await the outcome by the trial court. It cannot be treated as a change in circumstances sufficient to unlock the door that the Supreme Court closed,” the court said.“In these circumstances, this court is not persuaded that the petitioner has made out a case either for a genuine change in circumstances within the meaning of the liberty reserved by the Supreme Court, or, independently, for the grant of regular bail,” it concluded.Kumar was arrested in May 2021. A sessions court later granted him one week’s interim bail for knee surgery on July 19, 2023.The Supreme Court cancelled his bail on August 13, 2025, setting aside a Delhi high court order. It said Kumar’s “domineering influence” over witnesses and the possibility of delaying the trial proceedings could not be ruled out.The High Court had granted Kumar bail on March 4, 2025. Earlier, on February 6, a trial court had rejected his bail plea, saying the possibility that he could influence witnesses “cannot be ruled out”.In October 2022, the trial court framed charges against Kumar under Indian Penal Code provisions relating to murder, criminal conspiracy, intimidation and rioting with a deadly weapon. Charges were also framed under the Arms Act.The trial court had said Dhankar was abducted and taken to the stadium, where he was severely assaulted by several accused persons using baseball and hockey sticks.

Philadelphia Eagles predicted to miss 2025 NFL playoffs by analyst

It is crazy just how much can change from one year to the next, especially in the NFL. We know there are going to be good teams that seem to succeed every year. Sometimes, though, there are teams that are good, but almost seem like they are fake good. That’s what I thought of the Eagles last year. Are they going to be good, bad, or somewhere in between this season?

Last year

The Eagles did make the playoffs a year after winning the Super Bowl over the Chiefs with ease. The team was just 11-6 for the season, though. The Eagles started the year looking dominant once again, winning all of their first four games. Then they had a tough home loss to Denver and an embarrassing road loss to the Giants. They won another four before they slumped to another three straight losses against the Cowboys, the Bears, and Chargers. The last week of the season meant nothing, and they lost to the Commanders. Of their six regular season losses, three were to non-playoff teams. In the postseason, they were in a back-and-forth battle with the 49ers before they lost in the fourth quarter.

Offseason additions and subtractions

Perhaps an addition by subtraction was the Eagles finally getting rid of disgruntled wide receiver AJ Brown. There is no denying Brown’s talent, but he clearly was not happy with the offense. How can you be when it relies on a strong running back and a quarterback who really doesn’t throw much? They replaced him with Dontayvion Wicks, who had some flashes with the Packers, but nothing super impressive. They upgraded their defense, an area that looked a little weak last season. They got a cornerback, Riq Woolen, and traded for rusher Jonathan Greenard, both areas of need.

Roster

Defensively, I do think the Eagles will still be solid, but they need to generate more pressure on the quarterback to allow their secondary not to be so exposed. It should improve from last year. On offense, I still am not sold on Jalen Hurts. I get that he has won a Super Bowl, but that defense was amazing. The Eagles’ best feature is their short-yardage success. If it is a short distance, they are going to get the first down. They have speed with DeVonta Smith, and Wicks could get the targets that Brown was getting. Dallas Goedert is still a solid tight end. Saquon Barkley had a pretty poor year compared to his first season with Philadelphia, but he is still an elite back, and maybe this year will be closer to his first season with them.

The Giants are probably a bit better this year, and the Cowboys should be better. Plus, the Commanders are likely to improve. They won a lot of one-score games last season, so maybe some of that comes back to the median with this year’s schedule. They are listed at 10.5 games, and that seems pretty high for them. I like the idea of taking the Eagles at +154 to miss the playoffs more than anything. I don’t have them as a playoff team this season despite the improvements.

Anime Expeditions Vegetable (Vegeta) guide

Published

on

Vegetable is one of the six units introduced by Update 1.0 in Anime Expeditions. Belonging to the Mythic rarity, its abilities and character model are inspired by Vegeta from the Dragon Ball anime and manga series. During battles, its potential is overly reliant on nearby allies and their actions. As other units within its range perform regular attacks, critical hits, or follow-up attacks, the Vegeta-inspired unit builds up substantial and permanent stat boosts.

Courtesy of these stacking buffs, Vegetable is a solid choice for long gamemodes like Raid and Tournament. This guide covers its obtainment, evolution, and passives in Anime Expeditions.

Mythic characters in the Standard Banner rotate every hour. Three Mythics are featured in the banner, with the one in the center having a higher pull chance than the rest. When Vegetable appears in the middle, use Gems to pull for it before the next rotation.

From the Standard Banner, you have a 0.25% chance of summoning a Mythic unit. You are guaranteed to receive one after making the 400th summon, thanks to the pity system, which resets with every Mythic pull.

Mini Banner is incredibly useful when you are targeting a specific unit. It features a brand-new Mythic character every hour, which can include Vegetable. You have a 0.25% chance of pulling a Mythic from this gacha (pity: 400 summons).
