Man Utd 'Seriously Considering' Hiring Xavi

Manchester United are not looking to sell Kobbie Mainoo in January despite his limited playing time under Ruben Amorim, according to Sky Sports News.

The Old Trafford side will only consider the 20-year-old’s departure if they receive an exceptional offer, with Amorim still viewing Mainoo as a key part of his plans.

Several Premier League clubs are believed to be interested in the midfielder, but only a few would reportedly be able to afford a permanent deal at this stage of the season.

Mainoo has yet to start a Premier League game this season, with all 11 of his appearances coming off the bench.

According to Sky Sports News, there is a ‘widespread desire’ at Man United for Mainoo to stay in January and fight for his place in the team under Amorim.

However, it remains uncertain whether the ‘superstar’ midfielder will be content with such a scenario, as it would likely mean he remains on the fringes of the squad.

Amorim revealed earlier this month that Mainoo is competing for a starting spot with United captain Bruno Fernandes, who has been irreplaceable for his Portuguese compatriot this season.

Fernandes has started every Premier League game this term and has been the main creative spark once again, scoring five goals and providing seven assists in 16 league appearances.

Man United may be more open to Mainoo’s departure next year if they manage to bring in one of their top midfield targets.

The Red Devils are believed to have earmarked the Premier League trio of Adam Wharton, Carlos Baleba and Elliot Anderson as potential options, though it remains to be seen whether any will prove attainable as soon as January.

According to GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano, United could end up moving for a low-cost alternative if they are unable to land their top targets next month, with Atletico Madrid star Conor Galagher remaining on the shortlist.

As GIVEMESPORT have reported previously, the Old Trafford chiefs are looking to extend the Brazilian’s deal on a reduced salary amid his continued importance for Amorim this season, with four goals in 14 league starts.
