3 Best New Netflix Movies to Watch This Weekend (August 28-30)

Published

on

Adam Scott as Tom Kennedy, Robert De Niro as Peter Willis in The Whisper Man

Netflix has been a little lean on dropping original movies in August, but they’ve been saving the best for the last weekend of the month.

The streamer’s new thriller, The Whisper Man, is streaming right now, and the Robert De Niro-led movie is Watch With Us’ No. 1 pick for the best new Netflix movies to watch this weekend.

We also recommend streaming the pop-music romance Beyond the Lights and the underrated action sequel Speed 2: Cruise Control, which brings back Sandra Bullock’s scrappy Annie from the 1994 original, Speed.

‘The Whisper Man’ (2026)

Crime writer Tom Kennedy (Adam Scott) is trying to pick up the pieces of his shattered life. It’s been a while since his wife died, and he thinks moving to a new city with his 8-year-old son, Jake (Acston Luca Porto), will give them both a fresh start. But when Jake is kidnapped, Tom’s life once again falls apart. Obsessed with finding his son, Tom reunites with his estranged detective father, Pete Willis (De Niro), to find Jake. All clues point to a serial killer named The Whisper Man, but he’s been locked up for years. What connection does the killer have to Jake’s disappearance?

The Whisper Man is adapted from a bestselling novel by Alex North. The mystery surrounding Jake’s disappearance, and its connection to The Whisper Man, is genuinely intriguing to watch unfold. There are enough narrative twists and turns to keep you guessing and just enough characterization to make you care about Tom, Jake and the rest of the characters. The Whisper Man’s cast is surprisingly stacked, with Oscar winner De Niro, Oscar nominee Michael Keaton and TV favorites Scott and Michelle Monaghan all providing extra dimensions to their roles as reluctant players in The Whisper Man’s deadly game.

‘Beyond the Lights’ (2014)

Noni Jean (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) is a promising singer who wants to be a star, but the pressures of making it big prove to be too much. She tries to kill herself, but she’s saved at the last minute by Kaz Nicol (Nate Parker), a police officer with political ambitions. They unexpectedly fall in love, but their different lifestyles, plus Noni’s manufactured romance with prolific rapper Kid Culprit (Machine Gun Kelly), complicate their romance. Can Noni have the career she’s always wanted and the man of her dreams at the same time?

Beyond the Lights has a plot straight out of the 1930s, but Noni’s career vs. love conflict doesn’t feel outdated. That’s because director Gina Prince-Bythewood keeps things lively and modern, with topic subplots involving suicide, sexual assault and how the music industry uses and abuses its talent. Mbatha-Raw is mesmerizing as a Rihanna-like singer who wants to make everyone around her happy — except herself. The film is just melodramatic enough to be interesting without being too corny.

‘Speed 2: Cruise Control’ (1997)

It’s been three years since bus driver Annie (Sandra Bullock) survived being taken hostage by a mad bomber, and she’s not ready to repeat the experience. That’s why she agrees to accompany her new boyfriend, LAPD cop Alex Shaw (Jason Patric), aboard a luxury cruise ship for a little sun and lots of relaxation. But trouble seems to follow Annie everywhere, as a disgruntled ex-employee of the cruise company, John Geiger (Willem Dafoe), kills the captain and hijacks the ship. It’s up to Annie and Alex to save the day, and Annie might not be as lucky as she was the first time.

To best enjoy Speed 2, forget that it’s a sequel to Speed 1. Few movies can match that action masterpiece, and with Keanu Reeves gone and the film taking place mostly on a slow-moving boat, it’s as far from the original as it gets. But that doesn’t mean it’s a bad action film. As always, Bullock is appealing as the practical and slightly sassy heroine, who can’t believe she’s in a life-or-death situation again. Patric is pretty bland as the love interest, but Dafoe’s very evil Geiger more than makes up for it. You can see shades of the Green Goblin in his performance, and he makes his villain far scarier than he has any right to be.

4 Best New Movies to Stream This Weekend (August 28-30)

Published

on

Adam Scott and Michelle Monaghan in The Whisper Man

Even though summer doesn’t technically end for another few weeks, it feels like the season is already coming to a close and movie-lovers are acting accordingly.

Thankfully, this weekend’s new streaming offerings include an autumnal thriller, a romance involving chronic illness and a botched real estate deal. In other words, the summer of Spider-Man is definitely over.

At the top of Watch With Us’ bingewatch-worthy list is Netflix‘s The Whisper Man, a spooky serial killer thriller starring Robert De Niro and Adam Scott.

Other new movies worth watching include Prime Video’s The Last Sunrise, Shudder’s gnarly horror flick Penny Lane Is Dead and Hulu’s historical epic, Desert Warrior, starring two MCU actors from Avengers: Doomsday and Wonder Man.

‘The Whisper Man’ (2026) — Netflix

Pete Willis (Robert De Niro) is a detective nearing the end of his career. His biggest achievement was capturing The Whisper Man, a serial killer who preyed on children 30 years ago. When his estranged son, Tom (Adam Scott), tells him his 8-year-old grandson, Jake (Acston Luca Porto), is missing, he initially thinks it’s the work of a random kidnapper. But as the seasoned detective starts investigating, he begins to believe it’s the work of The Whisper Man. But how is that possible when the killer is still locked away in prison?

That’s the unbeatable premise of The Whisper Man, an old-school thriller that Hollywood used to churn out in the 1990s and early 2000s. Directed by James Ashcroft, the film is set in autumnal New Jersey and gives off pleasingly cozy murder mystery vibes. But make no mistake — this is a grisly thriller involving the death of children, and it gets progressively creepier as the story progresses. Along with Scott and De Niro, the entire cast gives pitch-perfect performances, especially Hamish Linklater as a true-crime aficionado and Michael Keaton as — well, I can’t tell you. You’ll have to watch The Whisper Man to find out, but trust me, you won’t regret it.

‘The Last Sunrise’ (2026) — Prime Video

Most college students would kill for what Oriah “Ry” Pera (Maia Reficco) has: a loving mother, Isolde (Eva Longoria), a school she likes and a summer vacation at a ritzy Mallorca resort. But Ry isn’t like most students — she has a chronic illness that will most likely cut her life short just as it’s about to begin. Her spirits perk up when she meets Julián (Fernando Lindez), a hunky local fisherman who immediately falls for her. But how long can their love last when Ry’s life seemingly has a fast expiration date?

Soapy and melodramatic, The Last Sunrise is also entertaining and irresistible. The movie contains an Idiot Plot, where all of the characters’ problems would be solved with a couple of quick conversations, but why would anyone want that when there’s an escapist love story to savor? Reficco and Lindez look hot and give their characters just enough depth to make you care about them. Longoria is also effective as an overprotective mother with a secret that could doom Ry and Julián’s romance for good. The Last Sunrise is pretty basic, but it’s the perfect movie to watch for one last summer season thrill.

‘Penny Lane Is Dead’ (2026) — Shudder

If someone plays a prank in a movie, especially a horror movie, they usually wind up dead. And that’s exactly what happens in Penny Lane Is Dead, a new “Ozpolitation” terror flick that’s the cinematic equivalent of a pressure cooker. Set in 1986, three friends get together to party one last time before they split up. But their party is interrupted by frenemy Kat (Sophia Wright-Mendelsohn), her criminal ex-bf Angus (Ben O’Toole) and several of his shady friends. Soon, their peaceful get-together turns into a bloody fight for survival, and not everyone will live to see the light of day.

Equal parts brutal and wickedly funny, Penny Lane Is Dead is one of 2026’s surprising delights. The movie pays homage to home-invasion classics like Last House on the Left while still carving out its own identity as a shocking thriller that isn’t for the faint of heart.

‘Desert Warrior’ (2025) — Hulu

Anthony Mackie in Desert Warrior

In seventh-century Arabia, the ruthless Emperor Kisra (Ben Kingsley) wants one thing — Princess Hind (Aiysha Hart). Hind doesn’t want to be his concubine, so she flees with her father into the Arabian desert. Without resources or allies, they’re sure to die quickly, so they hire Hanzala (Anthony Mackie) to help them. When tragedy strikes, Hind doesn’t just want to flee — she wants to take Kisra down for good. Hanzala has no choice but to join her uprising, resulting in all-out war for the Arabian kingdom.

Desert Warrior’s production history is as intriguing as the story it’s telling. Shot in 2021 and 2022, the film remained in limbo for three years before receiving a quiet release earlier this year. With a $150 million budget, it’s the most expensive movie made in Saudi Arabia. It’s also one of the worst flops in film history, grossing only $740,000. Ouch!

The movie itself is OK. Most of the budget is on screen, and there are some striking images of the desert that recall Lawrence of Arabia. Desert Warrior could’ve benefited from a more focused script and a better cast (Mackie looks uncomfortable in most of his scenes), but what’s there is enough to keep you satisfied for most of its 126-minute runtime.

Leave it to my mom to turn one text message into my latest Amazon shopping mission. Her request was simple — she wanted flattering clothes that would help hide her tummy — but I wasn’t about to send her a bunch of shapeless tops she’d never actually wear. Instead, I searched for slimming fall pieces with relaxed cuts, longer hems, stretchy waistbands and strategic layering to give her the coverage she wants.

I found styles from easy throw-on jeans to cozy knit tops to polished button-down shirts that practically have my mom’s name written all over it. There are options for work, travel, errands, casual weekends and those chilly days when all she wants to wear is leggings and a sweater. And with these Amazon finds starting at $10, I may have accidentally given her an excuse to refresh more than just one part of her fall wardrobe.

13 Tummy-Hiding Clothes for My Mom’s Fall Wardrobe Refresh

1. My Favorite: If I were giving my mom’s closet a fall refresh, this brown plaid button-down would be my first pick. The relaxed shape gives her the tummy coverage she asked for, and I can already picture it with jeans and brown boots on a crisp October day.

2. Cozy Chic: My mom loves being comfortable, so I know this slouchy matching set would be an easy sell. The oversized henley top gives her plenty of room around the tummy, while the wide-leg pants and soft knit make it feel polished enough for fall errands or travel.

3. Denim Upgrade: My mom is never going to wear pants that dig into her stomach, so these stretchy wide-leg jeans are much more her speed. The elastic high waist offers a comfortable, flexible fit, while the roomy legs balance out the silhouette, and look so cute with sweaters this fall.

4. Major Deal: My mom asked me for flattering clothes, so this discounted striped matching set immediately made my list. The loose tee skims over the tummy, while the flowy wide-leg pants keep the whole outfit comfortable and polished. Psst, it’s 50% off right now!

5. Chocolate Crush: I’m trying to get my mom on the chocolate brown bandwagon this fall, and these wide-leg jeans might finally convince her. The stretchy drawstring waist feels forgiving around the tummy, while the rich wash makes even a basic tee look seasonally on point.

6. Easy Green: I know my mom would be all over the army green shade and laid-back look of this easy button-down shirt. Its loose fit gives her comfortable tummy coverage, while the classic collar makes it easy to dress up or down this fall.

7. Layering Trick: My mom loves an easy layer, so this waffle-knit shacket is an obvious add to her fall wardrobe. She can wear it open over a basic tee for extra tummy coverage, and the longer length makes leggings and jeans feel instantly more put together.

8. Slimming Stripes: These on-sale barrel pants look extra comfy, but the flattering stripes are what sold me the moment I saw the pair. The elastic waist has plenty of give around the tummy, while the vertical print will visually elongate my mom’s legs.

9. Busy-Day Pick: For days when my mom is bouncing between work, errands and everything in between, these pull-on wide-leg pants are an easy choice. The stretchy waistband keeps her comfortable through the tummy, while the sage green shade makes them feel more elevated than sweats.

10. Sweater Weather: This cozy quarter-zip sweater is the kind of fall basic I picture my mom wearing on repeat. It falls loosely over the tummy without looking shapeless, and the longer hem makes it especially good with leggings and sneakers.

11. Easy Knit: My mom would get her money’s worth out of this $10 lightweight sweater. It has that loose, comfortable fit she gravitates toward, with a batwing silhouette that gently drapes over the midsection. Psst, it looks great with denim.

12. Rich Neutral: She would appreciate the versatile almond shade featured here with this cozy collared pullover. If I was putting together an outfit for her, I’d style the sweater with dark jeans and brown loafers for an easy fall look.

13. Sweats Upgrade: As a comfy pants lover, my mom wouldn’t need much convincing to get these chocolate brown wide-leg pants. The stretchy waistband is forgiving around the tummy, while the waffle-knit texture makes them polished enough to wear beyond the couch.

James Jordan Teases Landman Season 3 Return Date After Delays

Published

Billy Bob Thornton

James Jordan just offered some new insight into when season 3 of Landman is set to start filming following some delays — and he even shared his theory on a potential premiere date.

“I’ve only gotten one [script]. [Creator] Taylor [Sheridan] is in the thick of it as we speak. He’s writing season 2 as we speak,” Jordan, 47, exclusively told Us while promoting season 3 of another Sheridan series, Lioness. “All I’ll tell you is it’s going to be a heck of a ride.”

Jordan hinted that there won’t be a time jump.

“We pick up where we left off and I’m just as excited as you are to see where this story goes. We’re going to get to work,” he continued. “We start work here in about three weeks and we’re going to pump out a great new season for folks.”

It might be a while before fans see more of Taylor Sheridan‘s beloved show Landman. The hit Paramount series premiered in November 2024 after filming began in Texas early that year. Production on season 2 started in 2025 and ended that August, with the episodes airing in November 2025. Season 3, however, has been plagued […]

While Jordan didn’t have any inside information, he did speculate on a possible return, adding, “The way they edit nowadays, the turnaround is so quick. We might be on the air before the end of the year. I certainly hope so. That little holiday window that we’ve had the last two seasons around Thanksgiving through the end of the year, I think that’s just such a perfect window for Landman.”

He added: “Hopefully we’ll get back to work sooner than later and get the story back out for folks because we love telling it and we love that people are showing up, man. It’s such a riot.”

Season 3, however, has been dealing with changes. While filming was originally scheduled for May, it got pushed to three months later. Production was delayed again with the new start date seemingly planned for late September.

“I don’t see why if we don’t start sometime after Labor Day — and if we hit the ground running — I don’t see why we can’t have some episodes out by Christmas,” Jordan noted. “Who knows? But I know people cannot wait. I was in the airport the other day and some folks came up to me and they went, ‘What are you doing here?’ And I go, ‘What do you mean?’ And they go, ‘You should be at work! We need more Landman!’ They can’t get enough of it.”

Jordan has been thrilled by the reaction to the show, which also stars Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace and Mark Collie.

“That really tells you that you’re doing something right when people are falling in love with these characters on both Lioness and Landman and they just can’t get enough,” Jordan gushed to Us. “You’re doing something right and that gives us the energy and the excitement to get back to work as soon as we can.”

For now, Jordan has been excited to see the reception to season 3 of Lioness, which airs Sundays on Paramount+.

“I love to go to work on Taylor’s shows and bring these characters to life. He’s done a lot of the heavy lifting for you because what’s on the page is pretty much all you need to know. The audience can fill in a lot of the blanks too with their imagination,” he said. “That emotional investment that they get in these characters forces them to lean in a little closer. But I can’t pick a favorite.”

The actor continued: “What’s interesting about Taylor is he explores frontiers — both metaphorically and literally. right? It’s always a joy to explore the frontier because when you do explore a frontier, you’re exploring the unknown and that can be daunting. That can be scary. It’s a joy to tell these stories though. I love playing Two Cups. I love playing Dale. I can’t pick a favorite. They’re so vastly different. But as long as we trust in Taylor and his storytelling and his imagination, we know it’s going to be a great ride.”

As for the possibility of Two Cups and Dale crossing paths?

“I would love to do an episode of them at a bar and them having a conversation about that week’s baseball game or something. That would be interesting, wouldn’t it?” he quipped. “They’re very different. Two very different stories. They’re both very, very hard to hard to do. It commands my entire focus and concentration to do it and do it well. Because when Taylor entrusts an actor with telling one of his stories and bringing a character to life, all you want to do is show up to work and do your best. So we show up on time. We show up with our lines learned and we show up ready to play. It’s such a pleasure.”

Jeremy Renner Teases Hawkeye Return Years After Almost Dying

Published

on

Jeremy Renner at World premiere of 'Avengers: Endgame'

Jeremy Renner has Marvel fans wondering whether Hawkeye could be preparing to fire another arrow in the MCU. The actor appeared to tease a possible return as Clint Barton by sharing a photo of his Hawkeye costume on Instagram alongside music from the character’s theme. Renner did not explain the post or directly mention “Avengers: Doomsday,” but its timing quickly attracted attention. The tease arrived as reports indicated that additional filming for the upcoming Avengers movie was underway. However, Renner has not officially been announced as part of the film’s cast.

Renner’s Instagram post featured his recognizable Hawkeye costume and was set to the “Hawkeye Theme.” Although the actor did not provide any further context, the post immediately raised questions about whether Clint Barton could appear in “Avengers: Doomsday.”

The speculation grew after Winston Duke, who plays M’Baku in the MCU, confirmed that “additional photography for Avengers: Doomsday” was underway during an interview with CNA.

Additional photography is common on major studio productions and does not necessarily indicate that new characters are being added. Still, Renner’s decision to spotlight his Hawkeye costume while the film was reportedly back before cameras gave fans reason to speculate.

Disney’s currently announced cast list for “Avengers: Doomsday” does not include Renner. The actor also said in October 2025 that he was not scheduled to appear in either “Avengers: Doomsday” or “Avengers: Secret Wars.”

Until Marvel or Renner confirms otherwise, his involvement remains unverified.

Hawkeye Is Officially Returning For A Disney Attraction

While Renner’s possible return to the big screen remains uncertain, his next appearance as Clint Barton has already been confirmed elsewhere. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced that Renner will reprise the role for “Avengers Infinity Defense,” one of two new attractions coming to Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure. The attraction was announced during the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase at D23 2026 and is expected to open in 2028.

Guests will reportedly travel through locations including Asgard, Wakanda and New York City while joining Marvel heroes in a confrontation with King Thanos.

Renner will be joined by several established MCU stars, including Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Captain America and Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man. Iman Vellani will also appear as Ms. Marvel and greet guests before they begin the attraction.

The project confirms that Renner is willing to return to Hawkeye, even if his future in Marvel’s theatrical universe has not been publicly settled.

Marvel has also earned a reputation for keeping major appearances secret. Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire repeatedly denied that they were involved with “Spider-Man: No Way Home” before both actors appeared in the film.

Jeremy Renner’s Potential MCU Comeback Follows His Snowplow Accident

A return to an Avengers movie would carry additional significance following Renner’s near-fatal snowplow accident. The “Hawkeye” star suffered severe injuries on January 1, 2023, while attempting to stop a snowplow from striking his nephew Alex, who was 27 at the time.

According to a sheriff’s report obtained by CNN, Renner was “pulled under the left side track.” He was hospitalized in critical condition and suffered more than 35 broken bones.

Renner later revisited the accident and his recovery. “Writing about it has been very emotionally cathartic to have to go word by word through it all again,” Renner told PEOPLE while promoting the book. “I don’t not talk about it. It’s part of my life every day, and it’s always a wonderful reminder of the strength of the human spirit and how fragile the body is and how badass it is at recovery.”

The Actor Recalled The Extent Of His Injuries

Renner described his injuries in graphic detail in the memoir, including how he saw “my left eye with my right eye” after his head struck the pavement. Despite the severity of the accident, he explained that he does not allow the memories to control his life. “I’m not haunted by the incident, not too often anyway, by the images, the sounds,” Renner said. “But I am reminded of my new reality, and it’s wonderfully positive. I didn’t die.”

The accident also had an emotional impact on his nephew, who witnessed what happened. “[Alex] read the book. Actually, we did listen to the book together, which was pretty intense, but we never really tried to push this under anything,” Renner explained. “If I get better, then he’ll get better. I put images in that kid’s head he cannot unsee, so I’m going to do anything I can to get better. So I’m healing him; he heals me. It’s a beautiful thing.”

Renner’s recovery has allowed him to resume acting and officially step back into Hawkeye’s suit for Disney’s upcoming attraction. Whether that comeback will extend to the next “Avengers” films remains unknown.

“Avengers: Doomsday” is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026. “Avengers: Secret Wars” is expected to follow on December 17, 2027.

Boosie & Rod Wave Exchange Words In Reignited Sample Feud

Published

Boosie And Rod Wave Get Into A Heated Exchange Over Music Sampling Feud (WATCH)

Boosie and Rod Wave’s sampling dispute dates back to 2023, when Boosie called out several artists for sampling his music. Boosie claimed Rod sampled his song ‘Long Journey’ without compensation and said he had “paperwork on the way.” Rod responded, saying Boosie didn’t have to sue him and that he was willing to pay him. However, things were seemingly never fully resolved. Rod recently discussed the situation in an interview, sparking another heated online exchange between the rappers.

RELATED: Drop The Bag! Boosie Makes $200K Request Of Rod Wave To Settle Sampling Dispute (Video)

Rod Wave Addresses Past Sampling Issues With Boosie

Ahead of Rod Wave’s upcoming album, ‘Don’t Look Down,’ he sat down with Shannon Sharpe for an interview on ‘Club Shay Shay.’ During the conversation, Shannon asked Rod about his past sampling dispute with Boosie and reported that Boosie threatened legal action. Rod explained that he was initially showing love to someone he viewed as a role model while growing up.

“I just was showing love… It’s so crazy because, growing up and in my adolescence, the people that I looked up to, like the real guys in my life, like my dad and my uncle, them boys were gone. Them boys were up the road. They stood on whatever business they was on. So the TV screen, YouTube or whatever, was our role models. And everything they talked and preached and did, we lived…”

Rod went on to say the experience changed his perspective on some older men and left him with a “bad taste.”

“Maybe it wasn’t even real, you know what I’m saying? And that’s the hard part… ’Cause now I’m just like, I’m anti-old n****s. Just off rip, I be on old a** all the time just because y’all be in the way, man… For real, they be in the way. Some of them, you know what I’m saying? Some of them want to give you the game and want to help you. They might want to be a part of it, and that’s cool. But I done just became… I got a bad taste in my mouth about how older guys try to do you. They try to run the game on you, and if they can’t get over on you, now they mad about that.”

Despite his comments, Rod also spoke about being grateful for older men like his Uncle Dee, who took him under his wing. Rod credited his uncle with helping guide him and changing the trajectory of his career.

Rod Wave, Boosie & Lyfe Jennings Weigh In On Sampling Dispute

As clips from the interview circulated online, Rod Wave took to his Instagram Story to celebrate his 28th birthday. Meanwhile, Boosie took to X to address Rod’s comments. Boosie accused Rod of “playing victim” and claimed this was not the first time Rod had sampled his music.

“ROD WAVE STOP PLAYING VICTIM. THAT WAS YOUR 4r 5TH TIME DOING WHAT YOU DID TO MY RECORDS. NOW U SAYING U WAS SHOWING LOVE N WHAT U LOOKED UP TO WASNT REAL. U WOULDNT HAVE NEVER DID THAT TO ANOTHER ARTIST BUT U DID THAT TO ME CAUSE YOU KNOW IM A REAL N****A. N SHOWING LOVE WOULDA BEEN POPPING ME OFF WHEN I ASK U TOO. SHOWING LOVE WOULDA BEEN POPPING ME OFF THIS ONE TIME FOR ALL THE TIMES U DID IT BEFORE. SHOWING LOVE WOULDA BEEN REACHING OUT TO WORK WITH ME AFTER U DID THIS THE FIRST COUPLE TIMES.

SHOWING LOVE WOULDA BEEN POPPING ME OFF WHEN U FOUND OUT I DIDNT OWN THE SONG JUST SOME CRUMBS OF THE PUBLISHING. IF I WOULDA DID THAT MULTIPLE TIMES N I LOOKED UP TO  ARTIST N MY SACK WAS STRAIGHT I WOULDA BLESSED HIM.

THATS WHAT REAL N***** DO!! NO U RATHER GIVE IT TO THEM JEWS N GIVE ME NOTHING!! NA I STILL AINT SUE YOU N****A!!

STOP PLAYING VICTIM N****A N LETS IT GO. I LET IT GO U SHOULD DO THE SAME.”

Rod quickly responded and pushed back on Boosie’s claims. He said Boosie’s lawsuit threats bothered him and claimed his $100,000 offer was declined.

“You need to cut that s*** out, man. You talking about letting it go? I ain’t let s*** go, no… You a b****. You broke my heart threatening with a lawsuit. Acting like a b****, acting like one of these h*** or something. You threatening with a lawsuit? You threatening to take me to court? Like a f***kng police? What the f***?

The artist also added, “So when I reached out and I offered you a hundred thousand dollars, fam, you said that wasn’t enough. You got me fed up. I ain’t going for nothing. Ain’t nobody finna be pressing me or threatening me. You got me f***ked up. F*** you, I ain’t giving you nothing, and you threatening to go to court? You b****, you ain’t no gangster, you ain’t nothing. You try to take me to court.”

But the back-and-forth didn’t stop there. Boosie fired back, accusing Rod of building his career by using other artists’ music.

Jelly Roll Addresses His Political Stance Amid Trump Jokes

Jelly Roll Jokes He Got in More Trouble Than Rosie ODonnell for Roasting President Donald Trump

Jelly Roll opened up about his political views after taking heat for making jokes about President Donald Trump while guest hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live!

The country music star, 41, gave an impassioned monologue to kick off his final night on the ABC talk show on Thursday, August 27, addressing speculation about his political affiliation.

“It is funny, before this week, everybody thought I was MAGA, and now they think I’m some sort of liberal snowflake,” he said. “I guess I’m just not used to people projecting their beliefs onto me, although a few years ago, I was so fat you could project a movie onto me.”

Jelly Roll then played a clip of a conservative political commentator calling him out over his Trump jokes earlier this week and pointing out that the singer had previously praised the UFC Freedom 250 event held at the White House in June.

Jelly Roll has no regrets about poking fun at President Donald Trump as he temporarily takes over Jimmy Kimmel’s late night show. “What a turn of events! Who would’ve guessed I’d get in more trouble with the president than Rosie O’Donnell?” Jelly Roll, 41, said on the Tuesday, August 25, episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! […]

“Just because I watched a fight on TV doesn’t mean I support everything this administration does, just like hosting Jimmy Kimmel’s show doesn’t mean I have all of Jimmy Kimmel’s politics,” he said.

He added, “Sure, I lean left on some things, but like most folks, I’m pretty down the middle. I am a Christian, I am a country music singer, I’m a farmer, I’m a bow hunter, and most of the things I eat I prefer to get with a stick and a string.”

Jelly Roll then went on to address his controversial interview backstage at the 2026 Grammys in February, when he was asked whether he had any comment on “what’s going on in the country right now,” referring to the political climate, to which he responded, “Not really.”

On Thursday, the singer admitted he “had a microphone, and I didn’t use it the right way.”

Jelly Roll has been on a mission to lose weight. “Next year when y’all see me you won’t recognize me,” the country star (real name Jason DeFord) said in an October 2024 Instagram video, revealing he’s lost more than 100 pounds. “I’m going to get under a pile of weights in a way that I never […]

“So I’m going to try and do the right thing right now,” he continued. “Human dignity isn’t Republican nor Democrat. Compassion isn’t left wing, and mercy isn’t right wing. Pain and healing knows no partisanship. Hurting hearts are more important than poll numbers. And there are no boundaries or borders for broken families.”

Jelly Roll also mentioned his father, Horace “Buddy” DeFord, who died in 2019 and was a United States Marine Corps veteran.

“This might be a hot take, but out of respect for him, and everybody who has ever served and continues to serve this country, I will always shake the hand of the sitting president of the United States when asked,” he said. “My father would have been disappointed had I done anything other than that.”

“I’m proud that I was able to shake the president of the United States. I’m also proud that I live in a country where I can make jokes about him,” he added. “Ain’t that what’s great about being an American? The democracy, the freedom of speech.”

He reiterated, “I will shake the hand of any president that occupies that office because a handshake is not an endorsement. A conversation is not allegiance. And a joke is not a political point of view. And in my business, taking a picture with a political figure, or anybody else for that matter, doesn’t mean you agree or disagree with their policies or politics. More often than not, I f***ing don’t.”

GTA 6 Has Over 600,000 NPC Animations Compared to GTA 5’s 55,000

GTA 6 Has Over 600,000 NPC Animations Compared to GTA 5's 55,000

Rockstar Games continues to reveal just how ambitious Grand Theft Auto VI has become, with new details suggesting the developer has taken a massive leap forward when it comes to bringing the citizens of Vice City and Leonida to life.

According to information shared by Rockstar, GTA 6 features well over 600,000 NPC animations. For comparison, Grand Theft Auto V featured roughly 55,000 animations, while Red Dead Redemption 2 reportedly contained around 300,000.

That means GTA 6 has more than ten times the number found in GTA 5 and roughly twice the amount created for Red Dead Redemption 2.

The huge increase isn’t simply about filling the screen with more pedestrians. Rockstar reportedly established an entire Los Angeles-based team of writers, directors and producers dedicated to making the game’s NPCs feel more believable.

Rather than relying primarily on procedurally generated characters, Rockstar has individually art-directed the people inhabiting GTA 6’s world. Different locations are designed to feature different types of people and behaviors, meaning crowds hanging around Vice City’s beaches shouldn’t simply behave like pedestrians walking through other areas of Leonida.

Rockstar North co-studio head Aaron Garbut explained just how far the studio has taken that attention to detail.

“Every room in the game, somebody thought about this,” Garbut said. “Who’s sitting where, what they’re drinking, the marks that are left on the table.”

That level of detail reportedly extends to photographs hanging inside buildings, tattoos belonging to characters and even the fictional families surrounding them.

“The whole thing has been made, built, and photographed, and placed in this random room in a random building in a huge city, in a world,” Garbut added.

NPC behavior has also reportedly been dramatically expanded.

Rockstar used a simple example from GTA 5, where an NPC could drop an object and essentially forget that it existed. In GTA 6, characters are designed to remember and react to events around them. NPC personalities can also influence their reactions to the player, including whether someone runs away, confronts the player or potentially pulls out a weapon of their own.

GTA 6 [rockstar games]

The technology has already caught the attention of other developers.

Berkay Dursun, an AI programmer at IO Interactive who worked on the crowd technology behind 007 First Light, recently commented on Rockstar’s approach after footage of GTA 6’s crowds began circulating.

Dursun explained that Rockstar appears to be individually simulating characters rather than using the less complex crowd systems commonly found in other games.

“Achieving simulations on this scale puts them at least 10 years ahead of the industry,” Dursun said.

It’s another indication that Rockstar isn’t simply trying to make GTA 6 bigger than its predecessors. The studio appears focused on making its enormous world feel significantly more reactive.

Red Dead Redemption 2 was already praised for NPCs that remembered previous encounters and reacted dynamically to the player. With more than twice its animation count and an entire development team dedicated specifically to creating believable citizens, GTA 6 could take that concept considerably further.

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch November 19, 2026.
