Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds were spotted out for the first time since her humiliating payout from Justin Baldoni was revealed.

The actress, 39, enjoyed a family outing with the Deadpool star, 49, and her sister Robyn, 54, in New York on Friday.

Lively wore an all-brown ensemble while Robyn, seen wearing double denim, walked behind the star as she chatted to Reynolds. While Lively cracked a smile at times, Reynolds’ expression remained more stoic.

The family outing came just days after the Daily Mail revealed the Gossip Girl star was to be awarded only a small fraction of legal fees she tried to claim from Baldoni after their bitter court battle.

On Wednesday a judge in New York ruled she will be awarded just five percent ($400,000) of the amount she sought to recoup ($8 million) for defending herself against Baldoni’s $400 million defamation lawsuit.

The judge said hours Lively had billed for her lawyers were ‘unreasonable’ and criticized the ‘discrepancies’ in the expenses she was trying to claim.

The court ruling comes months after the same judge threw out most of the claims in Lively’s sexual harassment case against her It Ends With Us co-star and they agreed to settle the case with no money changing hands.

Judge Lewis Liman had previously dismissed Baldoni’s defamation countersuit against Lively, but he did allow her to seek legal fees solely related to defending that action.

In an order obtained by the Daily Mail, Judge Liman ruled: ‘The clerk of court is respectfully directed to enter judgment for Lively in the amount of $363,245.40 in attorneys’ fees and $44,206.35 in costs’.

Lively sued Baldoni and his Wayfarer Studios production company in December 2024 for alleged sexual harassment on the set of the movie, and defamation.

Baldoni responded the following month with the $400 million lawsuit against Lively, Reynolds, and the New York Times, which was first to publish her claims.

In October last year, a judge dismissed Baldoni’s case and in May this year, after a judge dismissed most of Lively’s claims, she agreed to settle her claim. But the legal battle didn’t end there.

It Ends with Us earned $148 million in domestic box office and $350 million globally, but whatever goodwill the film garnered was overshadowed by the allegations made by its stars 

Weeks later, Lively filed court documents seeking to recoup her legal expenses from the drawn-out lawsuit.

Last month, Lively revealed in court filings just how much she was demanding: $4,544,094 from Wilkie, Farr & Gallagher and $2,951,432 from Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, two high-profile law firms.

However, the final bill will be $300,000 higher because of costs related to a recent hearing on June 1, bringing it to $8.3 million.

The news she’d receive a measly $400,000 after demanding an eye-watering $8 million following their bombshell settlement, coincided with her birthday, when her husband shared a gushing post calling her a ‘courageous and deeply kind genius.’

Lively and Reynolds first met in 2010 on the set of Green Lantern. They started dating the following year, in October 2011.

They tied the knot on September 9, 2012 in South Carolina and share daughters James, 11, Inez, nine, Betty, six, and son Olin, three.

And while Justin, 32, posted cozy snaps from the event on Instagram, he and his wife, 29, appeared to share an intense moment at one point during the festivities.  

The couple spoke animatedly under the Southern California sun, with the model gesturing in a rather dramatic fashion before walking away from her beau. 

A representative for Hailey declined to comment, and the Daily Mail has not heard back from a representative for Justin.

Body language expert Judi James told the Daily Mail: ‘the way that Hailey looks back at her husband as he walks away after their animated conversation gives the impression of tension or drama here.’ 

James added Justin’s ‘gently hunched posture and the way his arms hang slightly in front of his torso makes him look less motivated and less positive here.’

However, the expert added that it did not appear the two were arguing, saying: ‘Hailey has been waving her arms and pointing, although not at him so no signal of conflict.’   

The couple’s attendance at the O’Connell and Sulewski wedding comes ahead of their own eight-year wedding anniversary next month.

The next year, they enjoyed a large-scale wedding with family and friends, later documenting the event on YouTube.

Meanwhile, the couple celebrated their son Jack Blues’s second birthday on August 22.

To mark the milestone, Hailey posted a carousel of photos with the tot on Instagram, writing in the caption, ‘Our sweet baby is 2. Happy birthday Jack Blues.’

In May last year, Justin shocked fans when he volunteered the details of one of the couple’s private spats.

He shockingly confessed, ‘I told Hails that she would never be on the cover of Vogue. Yikes. I know, so mean.’

The popstar continued oversharing, ‘For some reason, because I felt disrespected, I thought, “I gotta get even”.’

In a failed attempt to turn the story into a teachable moment, he added, ‘I think as we mature we realize that we’re not helping anything by getting even. We’re honestly just prolonging what we really want, which is intimacy and connection.’

The cringeworthy note concluded, ‘So baby, [you] already know but forgive me for saying [you] wouldn’t get a Vogue cover cuz clearly I was sadly mistaken.’

His remarks did not go over well, with thousands of his nearly 300million Instagram followers begging him to ‘edit’ the post and calling him out for the odd admission.

He eventually swapped out the caption for a random string of emojis.

In another worrisome public post, to mark his first Father’s Day with Jack in June 2025, Justin shared a black-and-white selfie, writing, ‘I’m a dad that’s not to be f***ed with,’ and adding a middle finger emoji.

But this year, the mom-of-one celebrated the holiday warmly, honoring her husband as she shared photos of him with Jack and gushing that he is the ‘best daddy.’

The stars seem to be embracing a positive wave in their marriage this year. 

The twosome have achieved power couple status – wielding their influence with back-to-back business collaborations.

And, Mr Mugabo is not alone. According to FOI data obtained by the Conservatives, there are 100,000 private hire drivers operating in the capital under Bolt or Uber, and around 18,000 of them have received “goodwill” payments of between £300 and £500 due to delays in renewing their licences.

Former Emmerdale mainstay, Charley Webb, spent a ‘romantic’ evening with her bestie, Sheridan Smith, taking to Instagram to show her some love.

‘Because I have the kids one week on week off, I just end up being like hanging out with her.

‘We are really different in our personalities, but it just really works.

‘We can have like two hours of chat, or be so talkative and laughing. We laugh so much but then we can have our quiet time.’

While Charley did state that their relationship is platonic, she also discussed bisexuality on the same podcast, after a listener contacted the show concerned that she’d recently discovered she ‘might be bi’ after ‘getting with a girl at work’.

When Luke asked Charley if she could relate, she didn’t hold back: ‘I mean … yeah’ she replied.

‘I just think if that’s the way that you want to go, I just think everybody should just totally be who they are. I have no issue with anybody being with anyone.

‘It’s all about the vibes. It’s all about the energy. Do what you want. I actually think so many girls, you know, vibe with a girl or whatever.

‘And maybe it’s less extreme than two guys. I just think because girls relate so well to each other.’

When Luke floated the theory that ;everyone is a bit bi’, Charley agreed, replying: ‘I have said this. Everybody.’

‘I do wonder if it is more of a girl thing than a guy thing. Like, my brother, Jamie Lomas, is so straight. He’s so straight. Like, there is…categorically no.

‘But also, it’s like this thing, isn’t it, of it being something that you have to discuss.

‘I’m just like, this coming out thing. It’s like, ‘What are you talking about? What do you mean coming out?’ You’re dating a girl or you’re dating a guy. It’s not you’re not coming out.

‘Well, I mean they are, but it shouldn’t be a thing. Just do what you want.

“I still have a 50% hope that he is alive because there is an oxygen system inside,” Sita Pandey, whose husband was working in the plant when the floods hit, told Nepalese daily Kantipur.

Nepal relies heavily on hydropower and has spent years developing the projects along its mountainous river systems. At least 11 projects either completed or under construction were damaged in the floods, authorities said.

Rescuers began pumping air into a tunnel over the weekend, but the families of those trapped say that should have been done earlier.

A team was able to get into a tunnel leading to one hydropower plant earlier on Monday, but retreated after no one was found there.

“The longer it takes, the more our hope dies. This operation must move much faster because every second is meaningful to us,” Jiban Khadka, whose relative is also trapped inside the plant, told Kantipur.

“It’s a frustratingly slow operation,” Khadka added.

Rescue operations had been “intensified”, Nepalese leader Shah said, noting that the floods were “not an ordinary” event.

“This incident indicates that the risks we face in the Himalayan region are increasing alongside climate change.

“It is now time for us to strongly raise with the international community the issue of the disasters we are experiencing as a result of climate change,” Shah wrote in a Facebook post late on Monday.

Another family member anxiously awaiting news is Priya Kharel, whose brother Milan was working as an engineer in the Upper Trishuli-1 plant when the floods hit.

“Those who returned from the hydropower site said there were people inside the tunnel,” she told BBC News Nepali. “So there is hope that if the army reaches them quickly, they can be saved.”

BANGKOK (AP) — Resource-rich Indonesia is expanding its production of aluminum as the Iran war disrupts supplies, relying on its abundant coal reserves to power new smelters that run contrary to efforts to curb carbon emissions that cause climate change.

Prices have risen due to fuel shortfalls and attacks on infrastructure that have slowed production in the Middle East of the lightweight, silverish metal used in everything from kitchen foil and power lines to smartphones and cars.

In working to raise its limited manufacturing capacity, Indonesia has a strong ally in China, which makes 60% of the world’s aluminum but is keen to reduce pollution and emissions from smelters on its own shores. Chinese companies have invested in about three-quarters of the planned Indonesian projects.

Here’s what to know about Indonesia’s ambitious aluminum plans:

Iran war strains global aluminum supply

The Middle East usually makes about 9% of the world’s aluminum, but output from the region is expected to drop 44% this year from 2025, according to Fastmarkets, a commodities information agency.

Energy shortfalls drove Emirates Global Aluminium to back out of deals and Qatar Aluminium Ltd. to slash production, while Iranian strikes damaged Aluminium Bahrain’s facilities.

A metric ton of aluminum traded for between $3,150 and $3,250 before the Iran war. But the conflict drove up that price to as high as $3,780 per metric ton in June. It’s now trading near $3,400 a metric ton.

The war has magnified the potential for other regions, like Southeast Asia, to replace Middle East production, said Andy Farida of Fastmarkets.

“When that supply is so unsure, end users look for alternatives,” he said. “The war has really accelerated this transformation and put Indonesia on the map.”

Indonesia looks to build its aluminum output

Aluminum is one of the most used metals in the world and its production is highly energy intensive. The process starts with the mining of bauxite ore, which is refined into alumina and then smelted into aluminum.

By the end of the decade, Indonesia wants to quadruple its alumina output to 32.5 million metric tons and ramp up aluminum production from around 1 million metric tons in 2025 to 14.5 million metric tons by 2030, according to the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air.

The Finland-registered nonprofit is tracking 32 prospective off-grid coal plants, built by private companies to exclusively power aluminum smelters. These are known as “captive coal” facilities.

There is limited public data on the emissions from these types of plants, according to Syahdiva Moezbar, with CREA in Jakarta. “This captive coal boom all over Indonesia is essentially not tracked. That is why it’s very concerning,” he said.

Such plans are contrary to Indonesia’s promises to cut its use of coal, the most heavily polluting major fossil fuel and a significant source of planet-warming emissions.

They also threaten to cause more damage at a time when the expansion of Indonesia’s globally important nickel industry is sacrificing local environments for industrialization.

The aluminum industry accounts for about 2% of annual global greenhouse gas emissions, equaling about 1.1 billion tons of carbon dioxide equivalent each year, according to the World Economic Forum. That’s more than the total annual emissions of most countries.

If all Indonesia’s planned projects begin operating by 2030, CREA estimates that the country’s own bauxite reserves will be depleted in less than 12 years.

China has a big stake in Indonesia’s aluminum boom

China has invested between $5.5 billion and $6 billion in Indonesia’s aluminum industry, according to CREA, which forecasts this to surge to $30 billion by 2030.

After Beijing set a domestic cap on aluminum production to curb overcapacity in 2017, Chinese companies expanded into other countries that have fewer restrictions, like Indonesia, according to Putra Adhiguna, with the Jakarta-based Energy Shift Institute.

Indonesia categorizes nickel and aluminum as “transition minerals” since they can be used in so-called clean technologies, such as electric vehicle batteries and solar panels.

That’s left a loophole for companies to maintain that these nickel and aluminum investments, which are fueled by coal, are in keeping with climate change commitments, despite the fact that Chinese President Xi Jinping pledged to stop funding overseas coal plants in 2021.

It is unclear what final products Indonesia-origin metals, like aluminum and nickel, will end up in, said Binbin Mariana with the environmental advocacy group Market Forces.

“It is a huge loophole, an elephant can go through the loophole,” she said. “You say it’s a green product, but it is powered by coal… That’s definitely greenwashing.”

Rush to build smelters threatens local communities

Aluminum smelters could run on cleaner energy like hydropower, but this would take longer and cost more.

Indonesia is prioritizing speed to capitalize on the window of opportunity that the Iran war has created, said Adhiguna, with the Energy Shift Institute. “The speed factor is really what is causing the havoc,” he said.

“This is really running against the grain, against the spirit, of the commitment to the climate movement,” he said.

Building more captive coal for aluminum will worsen the toxic haze that often blankets Southeast Asian cities, like Jakarta, according to Muhammad Al Amin, with the Indonesian Forum for Environment.

The environmental advocacy nonprofit, also known as WALHI, has campaigned against increasing the use of coal on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, which is a nickel production hub.

“If companies want to expand captive coal to aluminum, I think it is very bad news and a very bad development,” he said. “We have seen it, we have felt it — how communities suffer from the captive coal impact.”
